South Florida comes back to survive their first scare of the season

Louisville came into this game with a purpose and they were executing to perfection. Matt Simms started the first 3 drives with 100 percent completion percentage. Louisville took a quick 14 point lead while Matt Grothe and the Bulls couldn't move the ball at all and Moise Plancher leaving the game with a back injury after only first carry didnt help matters. At the end of the first quarter the offense got a gift, Jarod Richard did his thing, picked off a pass and took it the distance to cut the lead in half. Looking like they were going to start playing better after a long drive and a field goal, Grothe decided otherwise and threw 2 consecutive interceptions. Louisville took advantage putting up 9 unanswered points. South Florida came into the second half as a different team, Grothe lead the Bulls down to open the half with a touchdown drive. Louisville proceeded to then cough up the ball on the kick off and Steve Johnson picked it up for the score giving South Florida the lead. South Florida never looked back after that, Louisville did get a hot in the 4th quarter to tie the game though. Down only 7 points they did get a hail mary shot into the enzone but Marco Terrell intercepted the pass to end the game.

South Florida steps up and mkes the comeback against a very good West Virginia team

This was defenitly the toughest game of the season for the South Florida Bulls. The scoring went back and forth the whole first half with West Virginia coming out ontop by a field goal. South Florida started the second half off by driving the length of the field before throing an interception. South Florida wound up getting ball back before throwing anoter interception, this time it is returned 103 yards for a touchdown. This looked as if it was going to kill the Bulls but the battled back and Sophomore cornerback Kevin Young came through with 2 interceptions to get the Bulls back in the game. Down only 4 points Grothe threw his third interception of the game with only 3 minutes to go. It looked as if the game was over, but on a 3rd down and 4, #16 coughed up the ball on an interception by Ulysses Harmon. Grothe dug down deep and on a 4th and 4 call, Grothe found Freshman Richard Daniels for a 47 yard touchdown pass that won the game.

South florida continues to make a an argument to become #1

South Florida is just starting to roll over opponents after they got past their past two games. The Bulls actually had a tough time with Pitt early in this game. Pitt put together a great drive to start the game, converting a 4th and inches on the Bulls' 30 yard line. But the drive would stall out when they went for it on 4th and goal and were stopped short. South Florida had a difficult time moving the ball in the first quarter but were helped out with Marco Terrell's replacement, Freshman Terrence Parks who picked off a pass and took it to the house. South Florida never looked back after that and they started giving the ball to Moise Plancher who found the endzone 3 times.

South Florida struggles early but pulls out the win against NC State

South Florida came out for the game tonight and had problems moving the ball against NC State. Matt Grothe did manage to put a scoring drive together in the first quarter putting the Bulls up by 7. If South Florida had troubles moving the ball then NC State had impossible times going against a stingy South Florida defense. After a forced fumble in the second quarter South Florida managed to add a field goal. At the start of the second half NC State finally managed to put to the ball in the endzone with a touchdown grab from Jarvis Williams. Matt Grothe wouldn't be out done as he would answer back with a touchdown drive of his own. Capped off with another field goal, South Florida cruised to another victory 20-7.

South Florida survives another scare, this time against Rutgers

South Florida came out strong in this game unlike they did in others. But in this game, unlike the others as well, South Florida stalled in the second half. South Florida came out moving the ball well and went ahead 17-0 quickly. Rutgers would eventually add an answer in the second quarter, cutting the lead to 10, but South Florida would add a field goal before the half to bring it to 13. Matt Grothe and the South Florida offense stalled completly in the second half as they failed to run the ball. Rutgers would add a touchdown late in the 3rd quarter to bring them within 6 points. South Florida would get the ball with 3 minutes to go, all they needed to do was run the ball. But unfortunatly they were not able to do so again and went 3 and out. Driving all the way down field Rutgers had the ball inside the redzone with 30 seconds left. With the ball on the 11 yard line, on a 4th and 3 with only 5 seconds left, and 2 plays ago Jabu Lovelace was knocked out of the game, Jarod Richard would intercept the pass and take it 97 yards to the house to end the game.

Bulls punish connecticut in the snow

Todays game was played in 20 degree weather packed with heavy snow. Matt Grothe struggled to adjust to the snow all day. The defense of the South Florida really stepped up like they always do and kept UCONN out of the endzone. Since Grothe couldn't move the ball up the field, the Bulls resorted to the run and Plancher had a career day scoring 4 times in the win.

Bulls pound Bearcats in hopes to spring into the National Championship game

This game started close but quickly became a blowout. Matt Grothe would continue to struggle but this time finding the endzone twice. The defense of the Bulls would help out again as they would only give up 10 points but with a Steve Johnson interception runback, they would add 7 points of their own. Moise Plancher started off strong and picked up the offenseive slack once again as he would rush for over 200 yards and scored 3 times.

The Bulls keep Syracuse out of the endzone and cap off their perfect regular season

The Bulls started off having somewhat of a difficult time with Syracuse as they were turned way on their first 3 possesions. It wasn't until Jarod Richard picked off a pass and took it to the house that the Bulls first scored points. Syracuse would battle back and march down field but would stall once inside the 20, but the Orangemen would come away with a field goal. Unfortunatly that would be the only points that Syracuse would put up, and South Florida would open up their offense to ome away with a 27-3 victory.

USC too much for South Florida in National Championship

The USC Trojans did what no team was able to do in the past 3 years, beat the South Florida Bulls. With this loss the Bulls snaped a 40 game winning streak, in which you'd have to go back to the November 18th, 2006 to find their last loss. This was a very tough and hard faught game by both teams but all in all the Trojans were just too talented for the Bulls to keep up. Mark Sanchez had pin point accuracy other than the one interception which was tipped. Joe McKnight had a day as he put away South Florida with 4 rushing touchdowns. Moise Plancher put forth a good effort to get back in the game but Grothe would throw one too many interceptions tonight to make a comeback.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

The SEC commissioner Mike Slive has made an announcement of change to the conference. Starting immediatly the South Florida Bulls will replace the Kentucky Wildcats. When asked about his decision, the commissioner had this to say, "When you have a chance at getting a University like South Florida, who has a short yet amazing history, you have to take it. South Florida has been in the National Championship the last 3 years in a row and has come away with the win two out of the three chances, and we are excited to bring that success to the SEC conference."

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Florida wide receiver Jose Villasmil has just announced that he opt to transfer immediatly to Middle Tennessee State. Jose will have to sit out this year due to NCAA rules stating a player must sit out one full year and loss one year of eligability if he chooses to transfer schools. Now with Jose, we have Kenny Mayne and only Kenny would hold this interview while trying to catch a homerun ball in a kyak.

http://thesportshernia.typepad.com/blog/images/2007/07/09/espn_home_run_derby_horror_show_3.jpg

Kenny- "Welcome ESPN viewers, I have sit yet to catch a steroid injected ball launched by Barry Bonds, but better yet, I have the new Middle Tennessee State wide receiver Jose Villasmil on the phone. Ok so if we can get right to the point, why leave a national championship caliber team like Florida, to go to a team like Middle Tennessee State?"

Jose- "Well, Kenny. I never liked UF, and then I sat out for the whole season. what kind of team benches a superstar like me?"

Kenny- "Did you ever have any problems with the coaching staff?"

Jose- "Yeah I think thats why I sat out, me and the offensive coordinator never got along"

Kenny- "What are your expectations for your new team?"

Jose- "Well, beat florida is my number one goal, and at least get to a bowl game"

Kenny- "What are your expectations for yourself in the future?"

Jose- "The NFL of course being picked in the 2nd r 3rd round"

Kenny- "Ok, last question. Knowing that South Florida was coming into the SEC next year, is that why you left Florida? Were you scared?"

Jose- "Yeah maybe. Deion Bailey killed everyone in HS last year so maybe"

The South Florida Bulls have a lot on their plate this year as they enter their 2010-11 season. Not only is South Florida coming off their first loss in over 40 games, but they are also leaving the Big East this year only to enter the very stingy SEC conference. With this change their schedule has gotten dramaticaly more difficult, but to make it even more difficult, they have lost their starting quarterback, halfback, fullback, and tightend. Taking over for Matt Grothe will be 6'6" sophomore Lionel Johnson, and filling in for Moise Plancher will be the #1 running back recruit, Jamaal Howard, with the #2 recruit behind him, Jason Spurlock. Also joining the #1 pass defense in college last year will be the #3 overal recruit cornerback/returner Deion Bailey. The Bulls will be looking to avenge their loss quickly.

Well to answer your question about who might step up, we have 3 great returning starters; Soph. Free Saftey Marco Terrell is back and he edged out Jarod Richard for the Thorpe Award last year, Soph. Cornerback Jarod Richard who owns the carreer and season record for interceptions at South Florida, and Sr. Outside Linebacker Alonzo McQueen who was the other bash brother with Chris Robinson in my nickel formation.

and trust me i know Jamaal Howard is going to do well, i am turning into more of a running school i think

South Florida gets help from Freshman running back and beats in state rival

South Florida kicked off the season in high fashion as they show cased their new Freshman running back. It is easy to say that in his first collegegame that he had a break out game, but going for over 150 yards rushing and reaching the endzone 4 times is defenitly a break out game. New starting quarterback Lionel Johnson struggled all game but since Howard was playing so well, the Bulls still moved the ball. South Florida's defense started right where they left off last season as they would keep UCF out of the endzone until an interception put UCF on the 2 yard line. UCF would come within 2 points at the half, but South Florida would continue to give the ball to the Freshman and would pull out the win.

Box Score
UCF 0 | 12 | 0 | 7 | 19
USF 7 | 7 | 3 | 14 | 31
