The ranking system for this game and the tournament is garbage!! How can you be top 100 with 32 wins and 45 losses come on man lol I thought the tourney ranking was going to be like if you beat someone of better rank you go up and if you lose to someone lower you go down. This ranking system is the only reason why im not going to play this game after the tournament. Better yet theres like 4 or 5 top 20 names with all these wins but no goals scored on or against wow. The game was already messed up with framerate why ruin it more with ranking.

There's also people that would play 1000 place guys a hundred times to have a perfect 100-0 record, hell they even do it in the current ranking system, not that that will help them once they have to play a real player.

Please refer to the official rules:
"The number of points earned and the contestant rankings are calculated using a version of the ELO rating system in which the points awarded will depend on the quality of the competition. Contestants who play and beat others who are closely ranked will receive fewer points than when they play and beat others who are ranked significantly higher. Conversely, beating contestants who are ranked lower will move the winning contestants lower on the leader board."
The game rankings are not the same as tournament rankings.

Why did 2k change the rannking system to a point system from the way it was in 2k5. In 2k5 your ranking was completely based on the quality of competition. This way, someone like myself who doesnt play as much, has a chance to break the top 100. There is no fun in playing ppl ranked above 1000. What initiative do I have to play the #7 ranked guy if I am only going to jump ahead of a couple of guys because I may earn 2 points? And on the other hand, what initiative does a guy ranked #7 have to play anyone in the top 100 when all they are looking for is a 'W'! I think this issue needs to be addressed for next year in order to keep players like myself interested in online gaming.
Also, take notice to most of the people in the top 10. Some of them are averaging less than 1 goal per game. This tells me that they are playing someone who is continuously quitting to give them the win.
This ranking system does not portray a true picture of a players ability.

or the people in the top ten have good D and their opponents arent scoring much? the ranking system will never portray a true picture of players ability, for one more than 1/2 the people play on pro difficulty setting where iys a shootin gallery and u can avg 8-10+goals a game . you would need a ranking system for each skill level to get an accurate ranking system in my opinion.

If you play for rank you need to check yourself.

ELO? I just beat King Felix25, the #1 guy in the world :rotfl: , 3x and beat him (6-3, 4-3 and 14-6, yes by 8 goals) and he still sits in first as i sit in 10th:confused: ? I am really confused as i also beat the #2 player 7-2, well and the rest of the top ten but am still ranked #10 in Canada. I was really hoping you would have addressed the ranking system before putting togeather a tournament of this stature. Disappointed as a loyal NHL2K franchise fan and wondering why there was even a qualifyer?..........

ADMIN,
The way the ranking system is now is exactly the reason why i quit playing, I think it's horrible. The ranking system should be how it was in 2k6, it shows who the true champion is.

Until the goals that go in 100% of the time are gone we'll never know who really is the champion.
