and passes up the chance of a life time that he would of had had he of gone to Duke. Being the starting Center on a NCAA Championship team would of been quite an accomplishment, too bad, I guess we'll just need to win one without him. No matter, if we get John Riek we'll still be set.

I am a Duke fan, but the program is a sinking ship. I know a Duke player personally, and the program is overrated. Players do not develop as well at Duke as they do at other programs. Monroe chose wisely in terms of coaching, environment and experience. He wil excel at Georgetown and enter the League as a Lottery pick in 1-2 seasons.

David Noel....walk-on player at UNC to drafted 39th in the NBA.
Josh McRoberts...projected Top 5 pick out of high school to drafted 37th in the NBA after two years at dook.
Honestly, dook doesn't develop their big men the way they should. Not all regress, but some of them stay the same as they were coming out of high school...they don't seem to "improve" their game. JT3 will help develop Monroe much better than dook's big man coach - Wojo, ever could.

Is Duke ever a sinking ship with Coach K at the helm?

I am a fan, but I am also a professional basketball trainer and a realist. Duke is a sinking ship. They have not adapted to the times for recruiting and developing players. Most elite prospects want to play in the League, and Duke has not shown the ability to develop players to compete at that level. Reddick and Williams are there, but what are they doing? Reddick and Williams have barely improved from his sophomore year to his senior years.
Brand left after only 1 season. Boozer became better when he got to the pros. And we know about Laettner, Hurley, Langdon, so on. Coach K is a great coach for the college game, but his track record for developing pros is subpar. Hill is the only legitimate talent, but his injuries have hurt his career.

First off, Reddick definitely improved over his 4 year career. He went from just a shooter to a better all around player, any average fan can see that. Coach K recruits good players for the college game, I could care less how many NBA allstars he gets as long he wins games. And if you dont have faith in your team, then pick one you can have faith in.

Reddick improved marginally, not considerably that is the reason why he is struggling in the League and will have to make it as a shooter only. He was not an all around player, as he focused mostly on scoring. Coach K is a great coach for mentoring players together in a family setting, but either his coaching staff, or his training methods are incompetent. Markie I can understand, he has been injured, but the others are questionable.
Why do you think many prospects do not want to go to Duke anymore as they once did? Brand, Maggette, and Avery left early. Williams was overrated. Dunleavy is alright, but not great. Boozer got better since he has been in the League.
I have faith that Duke will recover, but if you think that this is a Championship calibur team or a top tier program in terms of drawing recruits, think again. Most major recruits are not considering Duke heavily. Only Riek, Reeves Nelson, and Elliot Williams are the elite prospects that are heavily considering Duke. Their track record for producing pros has not been as solid as it has been in the past, and that is what prospects like Monroe want, to become better enough to be considered for the League.
Singler was a huge get for the program. He is a versatile player with intangibles that can get the job done in any circumstance. He will be the biggest factor for the Devils, even over Nelson, as he will be demanded to do more, while Nelson will focus on scoring and playing perimeter defense. Paulus has to show that he can handle the pressure of playing in the ACC consistently. King is overrated and will strictly a shooter for now. He cannot create his own shot yet, I saw him in the State Championships against Drew Gordon's team, another Duke loss. The others will have to pick up the slack.
I am not saying that Duke cannot get better, but they have to adapt to modern recruiting and training methods or they will continue to fall.

When Lee Melchionni gets major minutes, I don't care how many "stars" you have on your team, you're in trouble. Duke has definitely been on the down slide since they last won the National Championship. Losing to VCU in the first round of the tournament never helps out either. Monroe's choice to go to Georgetown is a great one. Look how fast JT III has turned it around, making the program resemble itself the way it was back in the days when his father sat in the coach's chair. And the poster who made that reference to Josh McBob and David Noel, THANK YOU. McBob is one of the most overrated players I've ever watched on the bball court. Just goes to show how badly the media loves the Dookies. Heck, they get credit for being such a great program every time Dookie V is on TV. Maybe Coach K sees that his program is in decline, and he'll fake another back injury so he won't have to coach through it. Face it, Dook SUCKS

According to all the dook fans I know, a real fan would know that it's "Redick".:o
