What exactly does the return specialist ability allow you to do?

My guess is you get a boost of all attributes on the return. Speed, catch, break way, break tackle. All of it. Just a guess though. ;)

I find when I use a "non return specialist" guy on returns, even is he's a star, he becomes very ordinary. For example, Maynard on returns is not the "after the catch" Maynard. Barry Sanders on the return is not the same as he is when he's a RB. Woodson (return specialist) breaks quite a few tackles on returns - Ronnie Lott doesn't.

I think this is good, as it makes you think about the return game - I want a gold or silver return guy, and choose accordingly. I can't simply stick my gold RB as a returner (unless it's Hornung) as it just doesn't work.

is it just me or does anyone else think that the blockers block better for a return specialist as opposed to a returner without this ability?

Also, I feel at times that the team blocks slightly better if you have a Specialist returning the ball.

It allows you to put a star player in as your kick/punt returner without removing him from your first team. Without the Return Specialist ability the only way you can have a star player return kicks is to bump him down on the depth chart to your second or third team.

I have been using Willie Wood a lot lately, and while the guy is good on defense, he's an absolute beast on kick off returns. I swear he's so fast and cuts so quickly that he's somewhat difficult to control.

Special Teams demon on kick returns and punt return I swear makes your whole unit better. I have no way of proving this but try it guys.

Is there a way to put Cherry and Tasker on Special teams without burying them on the depth chart. I understand Tasker is at best a 4th WR, but Cherry I thought was a decent DB. Also would Tasker be a Gunner on Punts also or can you still only put DBs there?

just bury them on the depth chart, and then sub them in from the substitution menu
