Shouldn't even be doubts which are better right!!!!!! Well for the last few games generic wr's have been catching all over the place no matter who's covering them. While my Silver WR's are dropping wide open passes at least 6 a game that's BS.

The generics are making one hand catches on Night Train etc... while the star WR's are shutdown by a generic corner/safety.

One more note, I also noticed that FS play sucks unless you have gold in that position. I have tried several combo but the only players that even make regular attempts to break on the ball are gold FS. Silver and Bronze just get stupid especially in crunch time.

I love this game but, dam shouldn't there be an obvious performance difference between generics and star players.

You must be crazy. Legend WRs can get open and catch balls, neither of which the generics can do. Aside from maybe 2-3 cathces per game, generic WRs are worthless. If there is a defender within 5 yards of them they will usually drop the pass. Your Silvers are probably having a tougher time for other reasons, like your opponent is matching his best cover guys against them and leaving his generic defenders on your generic WRs, or maybe he is coming out in a 4-3 set against 3 WRs or some other similar matchup where he has a LB on your WR. Trust me if someone matches even 2 Bronze CBs against your generics you will be lucky to pass for 50 yards.

Edit: or maybe you are playing on All Pro (which I now refuse to do) for the reasons you listed- your generics are making catches on Gold CBs. That is beyond ridiculous. All Pro is broken and I will not play on it. When I assign my guys to cover someone, I have this crazy expectation that they should actually do it, and also that Golds should be better than Silvers should be better than Bronzes. I don't know, I'm kind of funny that way.

so pro or hall of fame is better?

ive had this game since probably the 1st day ot came out and ive messed around with it only a few times. Ive played mainly in practice mode. im a game-buying addict and tend to buy lots of games and only really play a handful.

what about when i take control of a reciever, why does he act weird and act like hes gonna suddenly cut off his route and by the time he acts normal again i cant cant catch up to the ball? its not everytime bit its very often.

NHL 2K5, 2K8, NFL 2K5, Flatout 1 & 2, Smuggler's Run 1 & 2, Colin McRae 2 (PS1), Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories (PSP) are probably my most played games.

Then you definitelyhave the wrong receivers. I have Andre Reed on my team and he catches everything as long as Night Train or Woodson isn't on him.

I have been throwing to my generics more lately. I use possession receivers and I can throw on cuts (they catch about 80% of the time), but definitely NOT in traffic. They are a good 1st and 2nd down option, but on 3rd downs I pick plays where they are always my last read. The biggest thing that affects how well they catch is how you throw the ball. You have to throw a normal ball, i.e. it can't be 'fired' in there or lobbed up or the receiver will drop the ball.

My Wideouts have been failing me as of late. I'm on a 5 gm losing streak and my WR and DB play are the reason why. Metz and Rob Moore have like an avg of 2-3 drops a game. And it seems like they drop em in the most critical of situations. My Corners just get burned like crazy, I swear if you dont have Lem, Rod, or Night Train then they are just avg. Jay Morales has been tearin it up tho.

I went into practice mode last night and ran a simple slant with man coverage on a generic wide receiver. When I started out, he caught the ball about 25% of the time. After practice I got it up to about 50%. It all had to do with the timing of the throw. You have to throw it exactly in the middle of a throw. i.e. As average a throw as you can get. Throw it too hard he drops it, throw it too soft and he can't get to it before he's in traffic.

I was having more success in games, because guys were running zone coverages and the WR's were more open.

Its ridiculous tho. I mean they are athletes! Regardless of generic or not. 2K kinda dropped the ball there. No pun intended

Bottom line is this, no generic should out play a star player. It's total BS when your opponent that has generic receviers that are catching on gold corners slants, one hand catches consistently. Or, generic DB's shutting down star WR's, I'm not saying it should never make plays but there should be a difference between star and generic players.

I love this game but, 2K9 has to address the following areas.

1. LB coverage on TE's, I sure everyone see's how well the Steelers, Raven etc.. LB's play.
2. Pass Rush
3. DB and Safety play.
4. The wide open drops by Wr's and DB's.
5. Franchise mode etc...
6. Blitz, is it just me or, does everyone think the blitz is like not even worth calling.

Great game these adjustments will ensure it surpasses trash Madden.
