Thats right 2k WE ALL want an Amped 4. Its been over 2 years since the disaster that is Amped 3. VINDICATE this franchise!!! Bring BACK the simulator controls and feel that is the REAL Amped. We want an interactive-online Amped career tiered accenssion ranks to compete in contest online against each other. We want a competitive Amped for all players to LEARN the skill of the game and progress the more you play. WE want an Amped really next-gen that looks and feels REAL. Its time to bring it back and those of us that really want this done are NOT going to STOP till we GET IT!!
I told em, NOW YOU TELL EM!! Lets make it LOUD and CLEAR to them. IF YOUR WITH ME VOICE YOUR SELF NOW and make this thread GROW by thousands. If ENOUGH demand it they WILL GIVE IT TO US!

I would like amped 4, but i would like it better if they went more with the style of amped 2, i wasnt very impressed with amped 3 because there was no online and it wasnt as fun as amped 2. But i really would want an amped 4.

Yea man, thats what I mean by the sim controls. That is the FEATURE which was based on amped style of play. Heck 3 wouldn't have been THAT bad had they just kept at least those controls that game was built on. Yea the online part really has me miffed as those leader boards aren't very dynamic to keep me playing like the online features that 2 has. I wish the rank system that 2 has would have a daily reset in the hopeful future amped 4. I think it would keep the game competitive and get more people playing it

I have even opened my A3 yet:rotfl: Had for a while. I don't think they plan on doing another one,but if they did they should get Shaun White to headline it. Big as big as possible.

OMG 2k you are begining to PO me big time!! Whats the deal.... freaking TH has 2 more titles now and you still haven't said anything about re-doing the debacle you just had to have on LAUNCH day 3 YEARS AGO and to this day the hardcore players are STILL WAITING for a real next gen snowboarding title that has the multi-ONLINE play we desire!!!..but NO we get more uh baseball or uh football or basketball sequels keep rolling out while Amped or (insert next-gen title) snowboarding gets the ol SHAFT!!! Enough already or are you too embarrassed to unshelve this title to get it done right?!?:rotfl:   :o !
At least let us know something may be in the works via rumor but does NO NEWS means its DEAD and you have no plans to bring it back at all ever?!?! Why did you buy the rights for 1 lousy title and anger the fans to NOT rectify a REAL SNOWBOARDING title in your sports line up of games?? And IF you don't plan to use the rights, then sell it to a developer that will buy and work to bring the Amped name back what it was known for and then you might get the sales you wanted from this franchise than from Indie blunder brought you. Do it RIGHT and I'm sure there will be a lot more support than you got from a hybrid SSX.
IF people want SSX like games, there is EA, and frankly they do SSX types better anyway. Maybe it will take EA to get serious at realism for you to compete under, but I doubt they will take a realism course, like they have done with the Madden series. But if they are smart they will capitalize with disenfranchised fans of Amped and take a stab at your mistake!! I Hope they hear us and DO IT!! Maybe thats the only way to get this ball rolling again or just hand it over to a company that wants the right to Amped and stop ignoring the consumer! Come on people WHY the SILENCE to the developer that refuses to acknowledge us after 3 too long years while the TH series keeps getting refreshed to keep TH fans buying the title while we continue to get it up the whazoo!!!!!:( :bark: :nono:

Well, about 3 years ago, when the year was 2k5 and I registered at this forum i created the name, matt2k6.
I proceeded to post an unflattering review or opinion of amped 3. after about a week, it was deleted from this forum.
Amped was the best snowboarding series ever.
I think the problem 2k had was that they were trying to find something to compete directly with EA's SSX. What they didnt realize was that if people want to play ssx, then they play ssx. If people want more of a simulation style, then they play amped.
The truth became painfully obvious within a month or two of release when the price dropped to $40 6 months before any other game would do the same.
I am sure that everyone here at 2k has heard all the criticisms they care to hear about the debacle that was amped 3 so im not going to criticize anymore.
To put it simply, there is still a market for a game like amped 1 and 2. and amped 3 had some great features. choosing individual lifts, and the snowmobile was freaking awesome. impressing people with tricks was also awesome.
but here we find ourselves without ANY alternative to SSX, and worst of all, no amped game.
Back in the day there were lots of snowboarding games. What has happened to the market? Did EA really just conquer everything so now we are forced to play SSX forever?
There is an opportunity for 2k to pick up the peices and go back to the drawing board starting by playing through the game of amped 2.
The most important thing here is the opportunity. Ubisoft is creating sean white snowboarding which i gurantee will suck. EA will probably keep ****ting out SSX games. You already own an established franchise, hell we know thats why you bought it.
But what people want from the amped series is what they were used to before amped 3. Dare I say realistic graphics and semi-realistic physics. I really felt like i was on a mountain when i played amped 1 and 2. Amped 1 was kind of wacky but only in the menus really. it never carried over into the "reality" of the game and amped 1 & 2 perfectly captured the snowboarding culture.
It is not all potheads, people tripping on acid, etcetra. I dont do drugs and i love snowboarding and i get along great with all other types of snowboarders.
amped 3 was about the most extreme snowboarding game to date.
now why not go back to the other side of the spectrum and create the most realistic snowboarding game to date?
a very technical, high learning curve, very realistic game can attract more players than any casual game will ever attract.
can you imagine the kinds of weather and terrain effects that are really possible on next gen systems?
i know i said i wasnt going to criticize amped 3, but there was never even snowfall. much less a cloud in the sky.
well, weather is a part of snowboarding. it can go from beautiful to ****ty in 5 minutes and i love every second of it.
snowboarding is a sport, not a joke, and you take your other sports games so seriously, so why not amped?
part of me thinks that this game will never come out unless the rights are sold back to microsoft game studios. 2k has grand theft auto and their other sports franchises to worry about. amped could be a great franchise if put into context with their other 2ksports games and this is what they need to realize.
i think if they realize this, then there could still be hope.

Oh my well its about time!!! This is positive to hear from a mod! Was beginning to think it was going to take Shaun White Snowboarding to get you guys motivated to start something up to compete against...maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am, at any rate I'm appreciative to hear that concerns will be addressed in due time. This time though when there is announcement I DO NOT WANT TO SEE IT RUSHED. Take the time to really deliver that next-gen snowboarding experience we really want and you will be rewarded. Thanks for hearing us out

Oh my goodness 2k, if Shaun White wasn't enough to contend with in the near future you have yet another that's going to raise the bar even higher with Stoked. I would highly suggest you get on the ball soon if you hope to have Amped as a viable franchise. These 2 are about to leave you in a cloud of dust. If Stoked plays as good as they say it will you will need to pull a rabbit out of the hat trick to compete with that. Your now behind the 8 ball:eek:

WHAT?! Are you smoking CRACK! Have you even seen the trailer? Do you know who is behind the game Stoked The creator..one word Absinthe Films, and they are not just some indy little production company. I mean love Amped 1 and 2 but this is not same, in fact its Amped 1 on roids. A MAJOR snowboard film company isn't wasting their time on crap. Trust me these guy come to play hard and outdo everyone. This is a 100% pure simulator and going to be hard to touch if it "plays" like a movie:eek:
OK Blue, this better be super ultra realism. In fact I'm going to borrow a post on the SWS forum of a snowboarder WHO does have the right idea of what a REAL snowboarding experience should be like. Sit up and pay attention, this guy is a real die hard boarder with some of the best ideas for a game I've ever read...its 2 post so pass on the word get the programmers/developers/artist etc etc to read and mull over what realism SHOULD be in a game
I agree with everyone when they say they'd like to see landings to jumps. Step ups, step downs, tables, all with steep landings. I'd also like to see a skate style system when it comes to rails but using that balance meter. I'd like them to bring that oh sh*t factor to the game. You know, when you play skate with friends and someone does something and sorta like in real life everyone in the room is like "OH THAT WAS SICK!!!" Id like to see that with this. I'd like it to take time to lock a back tail 270 on a handrail, where speed is rough to come by so if your going at the rail sorta slow you might not get your tail up and over or if your going fast but at too much of an angle you pop on in a blind back lip and flail around while your balance shoots over to the other side. It'd be nice if they did a system similar to espn x games snowboarding 2002 the game (if you remember back that far). In that game you could use the triggers to spin stupid 2750 type crap, but if you didnt use the triggers in the beginning of the game, doing a cab 5 was impossible, and a back or front 5 was your biggest spin. The more you snowboarded the better you'd get at switch, you could ollie higher as time went on and your spin amount increased. And if you never used the triggers it was super hard and rare to find a jump you could toss a 1080 on. Although 10's are more common today Id like to be playing online and see a kid put down a back one melon and like double poke it to a cab 9 on the second hit in the park and have people in the server like "holy sh*t that kid is sick!" I come from MN so rails and jumps are more of a concern to me then backcountry, but if this editing program they have is sick and if your friends actually have to be facing you to film, then this could be a sick feature. Like if someone was slightly behind a tree for an "art" effect it'd be sick to be able to set up a kicker between 2 trees and poke a front 3 through them and tear it down. Edit it how you'd like in a video part and post your part online. You would have people curious where spots were, and them trying to mock what you did and trying to go bigger and better in areas. It'd make me want to keep playing the game online and offline when I cant get out and snowboard (cuz skating is ***). Hopefully this is a big step in snowboarding games that can get the snow kids hyped and make us want to shred, because so far these games like SSX blow and majority of us that do snowboard HATE those games!
that's post 1 now here's 2
I just love snowboarding, Id like for there to be a game where I could get just as hyped as I do out there in my room after snowboarding or in the summer. If it was up to me Id make the game super technical, from crap cams in the beginning and having to upgrade all your filming gear, to sponsors to where when you work your way up crews of filmers would offer to film as you get sponsors and you work your way up to filming with a sort of mack dawg crew with cams on the wires and bringing out ladders to jumps to film better shots. The jibbing system would be hard and take getting used to like snowboarding, jumps you'd have to carve and learn how not to drop your toes in too much when doing a back 7 but being careful not to throw your upper body until your almost at the lip or you'll catch or spin too late and flap. It could be something that'd be super annoying in the beginning but could make for something sweet once you got the controls down. They are going for social and realism. Ive heard great ideas with the chalet/lodge thing, and they have great ideas as well. I just hope they can deliver like you said. I hope they are reading our posts and considering things in the game, I hope they push for contracts with rome and nitro, forum, possibly tech nine and dinosaurs will die, rather than salomon and lamar or something. Id like to see a variety where you can come up as a competition junkie and have very little filming and strive for first and take pride in mag photos or chose to film and come up with amazing video parts and push for photos and footage more then anything. Too bad I can't make games....although it'd probably take me like 50 years because there would be too much technical stuff going on. haha
So there they are and if an Amped 4 is really coming, it needs to be done right and above all else it needs to be as close to actually being real life snowboarding, cause this is what real snowboarders want and fans of snowboarding games as well:cool: :D ;)

not tryin to hate or anything, but Absinthe is a dope production company but by no means...NO MEANS!!! can compare to ROBOT FOOD (R.I.P.) who backed Amped 2 and i'll argue that to the death! Coming from a filmer/editor perspective that is. (I own 2 production companies here on Mt. Hood) I have a very biased opinion because I am a "rail rat" and amped 2 is about as real as it gets with dibble dabblein on rails as far as snowboarding games go. don't get my wrong, nothing beats a pow day in the backcountry with your homies and all but...and here comes the haters...look where snowboarding is going, to the streets. Now i'm not trying to get amped 4 in the streets or anything but would love to see it have a decent rail presence like amped 2...and stoked doesn't look like it caters the "new" movement at all.

im kinda with Jon. i would love to have a snowboarding game where the jibbing was basically a simulation. where it matters how faster your approach is and where every box has a get up jump in front and a landing jump at the end. where doing a 20 foot rail doesnt take half a second

Fair enough and you seem to know what your talking about, but the reality is WE both don't know how its going to play. It could be garbage OR really feel like YOU have control of the board. Yes I agree the grind/jib on Amped 2 feels very real however flipping onto the rail from the ground with no ramp/kicker and doing 5 tricks on it is not real in my eyes. There is NO HATE man, I just like more simulation and that Stoked is going to deliver on that but game play has yet to be really seen. So it could LOOK real and FEEL real all well playing like complete and utter garbage which WILL ruin it! My hope is it will have the control of Amped 1 but with a different scheme. Let us just wait to see more videos before we start making judgemental calls. The purpose of this whole thread is to KEEP Amped alive too, pick up the pieces and have 2k make a real NEXT GEN Amped which I think MOST agree the 3rd was NOT and NOW that there are 2 more potential franchises coming out and this puts the pressure on to compete with them

Jon, I know this thread is for the "future" Amped announcement BUT I have an audio from a Destineer dev that you will get a kick out of. It had to do with Amped 2 devs so that tells where the experience jumped off to. Enjoy! While I understand your feelings of Stoked isn't going to be graphically impressive it is however going to be HIGHLY TECHNICAL

And here is a video of the game play being shown off at PAX. Again it seems a bit laggy in the video but you will notice the smooth rotations. They don't do much with it but it does give an idea of how its going to play with those of us that will know how to trick

See I knew you would get a bit interested. Yes I am with ya 100% ALL back country will be lame, but from what I read you have to find the "stuff" to trick off of, so I guess in a sense you will have to explore as it will not be in the open. I imagine it should have tree branches/logs, kinda like is some stages of Amped 2. I hope for some rails somewhere, with ramps too. THAT would just not make sense not to have some park objects at least scattered around. IF so that would be a major flaw that is going to hurt
Oh yea I might as well tell you IGN has new vids of game play released. The rider seems a bit stiff and rigid, but something tells me this person doesn't know how to play well nor do they have the stats/attributes up or the best gear, as I know this improves the riders skills. Someone on game faqs tried to tell me its crap, forgetting that starting career riders play like crap and can't do much til you have the gear/stats to really play full potential:rolleyes: I told them though if it s FULL stat rider with good gear then it is a DISASTER:( but both Amped games in career modes played like crap til you progressed in the game. They are not just giving us skills out the box like Amped 3 did, which most everyone just hated:nono:

I am still keeping watch BL! Stoked is a great game, but they goofed up the online. It's no where near what Amped 2 is like online. Very few modes and too short. We need an Amped 4 with events that you unlock in your career that your able to play online later. SWS has the right idea with the events. I''d like to see Amped 4 do them better. Don't let us down, I see many are still keeping tabs on this. After all, 2k owns the right to the Amped series, so I do hope they found another developer to model another Amped after 1 and 2
Scottle, 2ksports own's the right to the Amped series and they can pass this off to another development studio. Indie Built couldn't have been the only developer capable of doing a snowboarding game, the question is if 2k has found the developer to take on the project of doing Amped again, and I think they know WE want it more like 1 and 2, MORE SIMULATION and LESS TH CRAP, and of course ONLINE PLAY. So 1 of 3 things is going on
1. They have shelved it, but BL hints its not
2. They are still shopping around for the right developer
3. They already have the developer and this all under tight wrap til they ready to show something worthy of what Amped should be
I don't know when, but I am keeping fingers crossed for announcement this year sometime fall/winter 09 hopefully. Only BL can spill the beans when he allowed I guess
BL SPILL THOSE BEANS AS SOON YOUR GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT TO DO SO!!

Registered all the way from Blighty, bring back Amped! We Brits love it and I share the pain of everyone who's been crying out for the series to return. Come on 2K get it done!

When they ever do I would not count on that "craziness" coming back. I understand there are some who really liked it, but unfortunately your a minority and this killed the fan base Amped 1 and 2 had. It was tried and it failed leading to the folding of Indie Built shortly after. If 2k has any sense at all, they will have a good long hard look at Amped 1 and 2's game engine (controls, physics, motions, career progression etc), combine those (if its not BROKE DON'T FIX IT!) and implement an online interface along the lines of Shaun White ala event modes. IF ,and I do say IF there is going to be a "story line", it should only be about a boarder rising up in the ranks to be professional snowboarding competitor and NOTHING unrelated to the sport should be in the story, like a "rescue" plot...GARBAGE!!
Understand Amped is not meant to be like SSX. It started as a sim, went to hybrid sim and then went to full arcade and lost most of the identity by going in the arcade direction, and ends up being the WRONG ONE. If it was the right one Indy may not have folded and there would have been another like this by now. So realize it does not work, will not work and MOST of us don't want it in Amped ever again. Amped 3 is NOT TRUE to the series from where it started from at all!!

Its too late 2ksports. You have waited too long to do this, now it doesn't matter. Stoked will be picking up where Amped 2 left off at and going beyond that. Its over! The Amped name you knew is now call Stoked. I'm going to be working with Stoked team to make Stoked the next Amped 2 next generation. Those of you that are following me its time to focus on Stoked as this game is only getting started. What? You thought that there was nothing else? There lot coming down the pipe line with this title in the near future. Its way too late for any Amped 4 now. Stoked is going to dominate and I am going to see to that!!

Well I called it, but not too many believed me it would happen. At this point the next Amped, whatever it may be, if it is truly with Natal, will have to be bar none, flat out, STELLAR and off the charts!! Stoked: Big Air has beaten Amped 2's rating from 1UP with an A-, which is a 9.0 and Amped 2 (the best rated one) was only given B and mostly 7-7.5's, but Big Air on its 2nd review has captured the "not so easily given" 9. (OXM gave 8 for the first)
The reviewer is a snowboarder to boot.... I'm sorry, but Amped had its time and another title is taking over, that title is Stoked, and this Big Air version is the start of that. 2ksports you just didn't want to listen in time, but now the Stoked dev team is giving the fans a role in the development going forward. You and UbiSoft just didn't really grasp what a good snowboarding game is, and BOTH refused to listen to what the fans really wanted. If your really going to bring it back, its going to have be "skate" like to even stand a chance now.
Fans, you can believe what I say or don't, but Stoked is now going to lead the charge in the direction snowboarding games go in!! If you want the game that Amped should have progressed towards, then go get Big Air, otherwise your going to be waiting awhile till 2ksports gets their shiznitt together!!!
