If there is one, I would like to see a choice of premade playbooks as one of the choices when creating a team. ie: run heavy, pass heavy, balanced, west coast, old shool...things like that. I think that would be a good optoin for those who want to further customize there team but dont want to spend hours trying to find the plays that go well with the team they drafted.

The Play Book management right now is horrible. Anything that gives us some way to create ONE Playbook to rule them all would be great!

I have 5 teams right now, and unfortunately, 5 different playbooks. It's painful going from one team to the other.

I agree!
I don't understand what was going through their mind with this setup.

I have 4 teams, but I only play with one because it takes too long to setup a playbook that is well organized.

It would have been nice if they made a little tool to allow you to copy a playbook for a team already created at least.

Hopefully 2k9 will eliminate the DUPLICATES that appear.
I also would like them to EXTEND the SORTING beyond subcategory level.
In other words it is nice to be able to sort/reorder empty back, shotgun, etc... plays.
But it would be even better to sort/reorder those specific categories.
I added some LEFT, RIGHT, NEAR, FAR plays and they come AFTER the shotgun plays.
So it can mess up the time spent navigating through plays.

Oh!!!
FIX THE NAVIGATION PLEASE!!!!
I find myself being pushed into an entirely new category sometimes from one group.
I remember being in split form going through the formation I want and suddenly I find myself in Split Shotgun!!!

While it is nice to have Shotgun for every formation which I wanted...
... what I wanted was the ability at LOS to move to/from shotgun formation.
This is easy and a simple QB shift.

all that from above and

have a running record of individual people we have played online, so when we're at the match up screen we can see how many times we've played each other and who is winning the series.

The creation of the playbook doesn't bother me so much as the fact that none of the plays (once added to your playbook) don't keep the same order so when I need to select a play quickly, they're never in the same spot. For example, defense: say I want a Nickel 3-5, Twist Right, Cover 4, it won't be in the same spot as in all my other playbooks. It's just a pain to have to cycle through each formation and look for that play that you know is there.

Did my explanation make sense?

Playbooks that can be duplicated, definitely!!

But also incorporate the ability that used to be there of being able to create audibles directly from the play select screen.

Also I'd like to see...

2k9 Next-Generation Passing & Receiving

I) Next-Gen passing

1.Next-Gen Passing Mode; When the QB throws the ball the camera zooms in and follows the ball through the air towards the receiver. Kind of like it does when in Replay mode, but tighter and always keeping the intended receiver in view while in motion. What this does is it gives the user a better visual on exactly where the receiver is in relation to the pass, in relation to the defender in coverage, and how best to maneuver the receiver to catch the ball.

2. In-the-Zone vision (the best name I could come up with on short notice) but essentially what this does is slow the action down enough so that extremely accurate movements/adjustments can be made to catch the ball.

3.Enhanced Catching; As the ball reaches the receiver the user is able to hold down a trigger button and control the receivers hands with the joystick to move them in position to catch the ball that is not going to hit the numbers. This would be more accurate than allowing the receiver to do so by himself. And since we are in Next-Gen passing mode and In the zone vision mode the closeness of the receiver to the camera, and the slower speed of the action, allows for enhanced receiving. Top receivers hands are able to move more quickly while lower echelon receivers hands move more slowly.

II) Next-Gen Running; When the ball is handed off to the RB the camera zooms in to just behind him (think Gears of War) this allows for better vision and more intricate movement when running through the line.

III) Depth of field during actual gameplay
IV) THE RETURN OF FIRST PERSON FOOTBALL with the following modifications
a.The ability to zoom out to 3rd person before the snap to read the coverages
b.Audible ability
c.Next-Gen Passing & Receiving

I have more thoughts, I’ll add them as I go. I hope you guys can implement these modifications, even if they are just options for me. : -)

hey akili_e,

that's a cool gamertag, what does it mean? i saw another cool one online WWOJD.

you have some good ideas, except the first person football, neat idea, but it was really really bad!

I love the "In the Zone" idea because most of these greats always state how when they're in the zone, the game simply slows down for them. I think you can look at NCAA's impact player & Blitz: The League's Clash system as good examples for the developers to build upon.

The zoom-in's would be awesome too, especially if the developers decided to add in the little extra like the always do. Things like: blurred peripheral vision (see car racing games), the sound drowns out and all you can hear is other players and the controlled players breathing, the crowd coming back in to sound whenever the play is over, etc.

Man, just thinking about a feature like that gives me the goose-****les! :D

Oh, here is my looooong list of some suggestions for the developers. I put a lot of time and effort into them but I dont' want to continually post it:

nice ElGreazy, i like 'em.

Besides that, what i want the simple stuff added.
* Generics: Change name, number, look, accessories
* Create-a-player: unlimited players or at least more than 20
* Create-a-team: unlimited team or at least more than 8
* Create-a-stadium
* Mini-games offline and maybe add some for online via 7 on 7 passing, etc...
* Franchise: this is the biggest gripe i heard from reviewers on this game. i wouldn't use it much because of online.

i have more, but thats enough for now.......

I can predict many glitches if they do that, and more people saying everything is cheese.

IMO just stick with what works, and keep the gameplay the same.

Itd be cool if the game kept record for how successful your plays are vs your opponents plays. Also, this would include revealing to you the plays he called, after the play is over of course. I think there should be a game log that tells the plays called, pre-snap assignments and who they controlled. More intelligence for post-game study.

For those less educated in football (I know most will HATE this idea) I think itd be a good idea, esp. on defense, to be able to find plays according to your goal. Stop: short passes, pass patterns, power plays, long passes, and maybe even certain players.

I don't really like the idea of the next gen passing. It sounds too complex for a simple football game. Give me more control of the on field strategy prior to the hike such as in/out for each man, better zone control, small/medium/large zones, and the like. Then when the action starts, make it quick, fast, and easy.

I play NHL 2K8 a LOT!!! They have whats called Intense Contact Controls. Basically, if you push it it tells the player youre controlling to do something illegal to the opponent your beside. If you just tap it once and its not in plain view (esp open ice) you might get away with it. You can also specifically do hooks (grap player w/ hockey stick to slow them down).
I think itd be cool to either have a setting where you determine how rough your team plays in terms of penalties. Another idea is influencing these matters mid-play. If you see you might be getting into trouble as a play unfolds, you could hold a button. The longer its held the more your team will cheat and the greater your chances of being penalized.

On offense you could encourage holding while QBing to avoid sacks or while running. On defense you could encourage interference/holding or some other something to try and thwart a big gain.

I also think team captains should be able to influence level of play. I know theres leadership attributes, but there should be a VERY limited number of 'adrenaline' cards the gamer can deal thru captains/team leaders in critical situations.

p.s. i also think intimidation should be possible. lay a BIG hit on a RB or receiver should have an effect on their psyche.

Those seem more like something Id like to see in the new Blitz game, not in All Pro Football. They are good ideas, Im not denying that, but those seem to take away the realism and turn everything more into a mini game. I dont really want a passing/catching mini game that decides whether or not I catch the ball.
