At 2K Football Strategy (http://www.2kfootballstrategy.com), we strive to provide strategy related articles for All Pro Football 2K8 from game play tips, to offensive / defensive play, to team building. The strategy articles are coming in slowly but surely, and today we published our second team building article.

Many of the teams used online are built based on an offensive or defensive philosophy, yet when you look around the league at the current NFL teams or even at the historical teams, success has not been so much dependent upon the style of football played as it is upon the individuals who played. The risk takers, the game changers, and yes, the play makers, these are the guys that teams count on to convert that 3rd down, to break it open for a long run, or go deep for a touchdown catch.

Read the Play Maker team build (http://www.2kfootballstrategy.com/modules.php?name=2k8Football&pageId=Play_Maker) and learn how to build a defensive or balanced team around the play maker, or play makers, of your choice!

I will tell you the same thing I told you in the forums over there.

Great Job!

I really enjoyed reading it!

2 Suggestions:

1. I hate using the same player on team, I'm sure a lot of others do also. I use 2 players on all of my different teams, and I dont even like doing that, but they are my favortie players so I'm always going to have them on my teams (I use "The Fridge" and Tatum on almost all of my teams) so 1 or 2 are alright, but when I'm seeing the exact same team with 1 or 2 players left off, then I don't enjoy it as much.

2. Make an offensive team, you made a defensive one so why no make an offensive one?

I will make 2 for an example:

1. Offensive (10 Offensive - 8 Defensive)

Gold
Dan Marino (Pocket Presence, Quick Release, 4th Qtr Comeback, Laser Arm, Rocket Arm)
Dave Wilcox (Bump Master, Coverage Bonus, Run Coverage)

Silver
Andre Reed (Tough in the Middle, Mr. 3rd Down, Possession Receiver, Break Away Burst, Quick Feet)
Heman Moore (Bump Buster, Acrobatic Catch, Mr. 3rd Down, Magic Feet, Possession Receiver)
Lem Barney (Ball Hawk, Return Specialist, Coverage Bonus, Speed Burner)

Bronze
Christian Okoye (Battering Ram, Branching Tackles, Workhorse, Strength Bonus)
Eric Green (Bulldozer)
Dwight Clark (Magic Feet, Clutch, Soft Hands)
Brad Van Pelt (Reach Tackle, Coverage Bonus)
Leonard Marshall (Big Hit, Reach Tackle, Pass Rush Bonus, Spin)
Albert Lewis (Leadership Bonus, Wrap Up Tackler)

See now thats a solid offensive team, and I only used 3 guys that you previously used in any of your teams.

2. Offensive (12 Offensive - 6 Defensive)

Gold
Earl Campbell (Branching Tackles, Workhorse, Stamina Bonus, Power)
Raymond Berry (Route God, Bump Buster, Tough in the Middle, Possession Receiver, Secure Ball Bonus)

Silver
Todd Christensen (Route God, Magic Feet, Break Away Burst)
Bart Starr (Clutch, Signal Stealer, Leadership Bonus)
Charley Taylor (Bump Buster, Return Specialist, Ankle Breaker, Cutback Ability, Quick Feet)

Bronze
Albert Lewis (Leadership Bonus, Wrap Up Tackler)
Terry McDaniel (Ball Hawk, Coverage Bonus)
Otis Wilson (Pass Rush Bonus, Quick Feet)
Pepper Johnson (Ball Strip, Reach Tackle, Pass Rush Bonus)
Carl Banks (Big Hit, Pass Rush Bonus)
William Perry (Reach Tackler, Wrap Up Tackelr, Run Coverage, Bull Rush)

See it is a very good offense, with a very good 3-4 defense, and I only used 3 players you used previously (and thats if you count Raymond Berry).

You did a very good job on the list, but my only complaint is that you didnt make an offensive team, and that you need more of a wide variety in players!

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. Note that I can only put forth builds and strategy based on the way that I understand the game and what I have experienced to be true play makers and game changers.

In regards to not making an offensive team, I think you missed the whole point of a Play Maker team. The goal of a Play Maker based team is that you don't need an offensively stacked team. That's the primary benefit of the build. In retrospect I should have included that in the article. I may go back and add that, as well as add the one weakness of the build --> If your player maker gets hurt, you are in trouble.

The Gold Quarterbacks are great, but I have yet to see a need for anything other than Randall Cunningham. Sure, he's over used. But the guy is fairly accurate, is a real running threat, and can throw while scrambling. What more do you need in a QB?

I am currently in the process of experimenting with other players online. I just built a new team that has pretty much 100% comprised of new players. I actually have an end goal for the team, and *if* successfull will spawn a new team building article at a later date. :)
