Gentlemen and of course the ladies out there who love playing 2ksports games. Especially 2k5 or APF 2k8.

The time has come for me to speak out about the threads I am seeing in this forum. I see Titles like..what I want to see in 2k9 or lets add a new next Gen feature for passing or receiving. Don't get me wrong the ideas are ok. However, have we all forgotten what made 2ksports great. NFL 2k5. was the best football Vid game ever made. Not madden nor sony could ever get close to what 2ksports did for video football gaming. When APF 2k8 came out. I know from what the forums said and many others out there thought it was going to be the best game available. I will admit it had some promise, but fell short when it debut.

Let's face it We need to get back to the basics. Work with what we have with 2ksports NFL 2k5 and just fix what was wrong with the game. Take out the NFL and ESPN logos. Make up a new sports broadcast and new league. Get rid of the ex NFL players. Keep All PRO Football but use fictitious player names and teams. I mean really create great teams. Team Names and logos that pop. Used everything that made NFL 2k5 great and improve it.

Lets face it everyone. APF 2k8 fell very short and we should demand more. I hope next year we can expect Next Gen sports games to appear.

one thing about customization is 2k doesnt want to miff the nfl and increase EA's chances of maintaining the lock. also, i think the falling short part is because of costs. they didnt expect sales to be all that good and theyre already losing money on a LOT of their games as well as overall.

When playing online, APF has kept me playing longer than 2K5. 2K5 was a great game, but I think many people forgot the problems that APF has resolved in their engine. I think the game fell short due to peoples expectations, even though the company made it really clear the direction they went. Yes, the offline modes suck, but I believe it's a great online game.

With the exception of that garbage *** momentum and dumb cover on certain routes...maybe

2K8 is a big step up from 2K5, especially online. The "glitches" we are talking about now are minute compared to what was wrong with 2K5. I think 2K5 felt smoother because of the decreased momentum which would be nice. That wasn't broke so I don't think they should have tried to fix it, although I understand that they are always trying to improve their product. There are definitely things I miss about 2K5. It felt a lot smoother and I felt in control most of the time, so I guess I am talking myself into agreeing with you since most of what I didn't like about 2K5 was not gameplay, but just different really bad bugs.

Basically with 2K5 it was a game that was about the best ever if you got 2 people together who wanted to play sim and were not trying to abuse the bugs, but the worst game ever if one of them was determined to exploit the programming glitches. 2K8 is not as good as 2K5 between 2 sim players, but it is MUCH better in that second scenario between a sim and nonsim player. So I guess for online I prefer 2K8 because it is probably the fairest game I have ever played online. There are almost no noticeable bugs post-patch. I mean when you think of nano blitzes in Madden that force people online to run shotgun all game to be able to even make a dropback with their QB without getting sacked, or about the D line glitch in 2K5 where the guy would run in LITERALLY untouched every time, or NBA 2K games where opponents could jsut incessantly swat at the balls when you are trying to pass it in bounds, the "glitches," "bugs," and "cheese" we decry on a daily basis are really quite minor.

The momentum is realistic. I DON'T want them to make it less. It's nice to not have one stud DB cover the entire field. That just doesn't happen.

...and Bartkowski... a GOLD? Dude... pass the ganja this way. People are hoping Ricky Williams comes to Denver, so we could use it!

I've been saying it, and I'll continue to say it. I hope the NFL renews the license w/ EA. I like the real time injuries, I like seeing my kicker fall on his *** in the snow or rain. Eff the NFL and bring in FULL customization.
