ok i understand that mr. 3rd down makes recievers play really great on 3rd down. they make a big possible but not probable catch. but my question is, what happens when you put that on a halfback? i know theres a halfback somewhere with this ability. my question is will this make him a better runner on 3rd down, or does it just mean he wont drop that screen pass on 3rd down?

Here's the description for Mr. 3rd Down.

http://www.2kfootballstrategy.com/modules/2k8Football/images/playerAbilities/mr._3rd_down.jpg Receiver is clutch in 3rd down situations.

Since it says receiver, then it stands to reason that only receiver like quality such as catching, route, and other related attributes are affected.

Yes but he is right. Roger Craig has Mr 3rd Down and he is a RB.

I used him almost as a reggie bush type. Sweeps, catches and returning kicks. If I picked him as a RB, I'd have another also

But not nearly as fast or good a runner as Bush.

Bush faster, yea I'll give you that.

But as good as a runner? Seriously?

Bush's vision is improving, and have you seen him run lately??? Pretty good.

Craig on the other hand, was an average runner.

Runner= Bush<Craig
Speed= Bush>Craig
Receiving Ability= Bush=Craig

imho, of course.

I'll give you the improvement on Bush, but he's only been in the league for a year and a half. To say he's better right now, IMO, would be absurd.

Fine, hes not better right now, but has way more potential.

IMO Craig is not that good at running in this game, and was only average in real life.

I have Roger Craig for Mr. 3rd Down. Used him since the game came out. Mr. 3rd Down comes with Clutch ability, so if it's short and whatever, if you pass it to him, I've noticed he'll never drop it, and even if there's a guy on him, he'll usually go right through him. On 3rd and goal, he is a beast, he won't drop it and will plow thru dudes. It ****es people off, but he is what he is.

How can you say such a thing. Dude, Craig may not be the best runner ever, I'll grant you that, but in the flat, or up and out for a RB, he was clutch every time in big games, and he's won superbowls. What has Bush done? Nada. Nothing. It isn't even a comparison man. Bush has made a lot of cool commercials and that's about it, Craig won superbowls and played with Montana and Rice and Rathman and the best players ever. That's about the end of it. In today's game, I doubt Bush will even survive to lick Craig's shoelaces.

Denny Greene was the worst coach we ever had...but mighty good at the laughs during post-game press conferences, oh yeah. Too bad he couldn't win for us Cardinals.

ok thx, i was just trying to figure out if it helps him break tackles on 3rd down to get to the 1st down marker. it bugs me alot when my runner has the ball and theres only 1 guy between him and the 1st down and he gets stopped. :(

I think that it probably helps him break tackles too.

Yes, it will help him break tackles, on 3rd down...if it's short. You have to hit the speed burst button repeatedly (it helps) or hold it down and it depends on the angle. The more you play the more you'll get used to him. But yes, he does break more having that ability, and it helps alot. It only works in short yardage dude. Maybe 4 or less. In goal line though (inside the 5), he is a beast that cannot be dealt with.

why would it only work in 3rd and short? i would think any 3rd down it would work, even 3rd and long. this ability seems made for wr's in mind even though you can give it to the hb. and the only time you throw to the wr on 3rd is when its long.. so i think that it should work on 3rd and long as well. of course, by "work", i mean youll see a improvement in the players performance. i can see why you dont think it works on 3rd and long. maybe he plays spectacular breaking 4 tackles on the way to the 1st down, but then the 5th guy gets him. i can understand that because its supposed to make him better, but not make it a guaranteed 1st down.

Well...on 3rd and short he will usually only have 1 or maybe 2 guys on him. 3rd and long he is going to have to break a lot more tackles. He isn't unstoppable. He does have clutch (Mr. 3rd down gives him clutch) but I think that's for catching. So he'll catch it in stride and break some tackles, but I don't think he's gonna run for 15 or 20 yards. He may, on occasion, but I don't use him that way. I use him for short yardage and goal line situations.

Just get Marcus Allen, who has clutch, which is even better IMO, like 4th quarter comeback and 3rd down combined.

Phillip A Bole
November 14th, 2007, 06:56 PM
Yeah but Allen is a gold, you can get the same thing with Craig for a silver, and Craig has clutch also, because it's part of Mr. 3rd down (maybe he's only clutch in 3rd down's, I don't know)...
