I noticed that alot of online players ive played they pretty much have a high-octane offense.
Who out there beside me that have teams that rely on your running game to be successful in order to have some shot in winnin a football game. i mean no gold receivers or 2 silvers receivers. No 3 wide receivers with a gold running back to try and fool people, im talking about generic or bronze receivers, or 1 silver and 1 bronze receiver with a silver or gold TE and any tier running back that you like. It dont have to be gold RB and a fullback but thats optional
I love the run game in real life and especially in 2k and even in madden. I know passing is more fun and i guess thats why so many people have high-octane offenses online. Im the one among few that utilize the running game style in 2k8

My play style is about 55% pass , 45% run. It's subject to change depending on my opponent. If he can't stop my passing game I'll throw all day, if he does stop it I'll run more. My 1st 10 to 15 plays on offense are always the same, I use them every game to get a feel for my opponent. It's a good mix of pass and run from different formations. It gives me a feel of what I will be able to do on offense.

My VIP says I have about 52% pass and 48% run, but that's a bit misleading. It's probably 75% pass and 25% run. It was skewed because the last 50 games or so I played with a team and ran 90% of the time and passed 10% of the time.
I have been playing a team that relies on the run a lot lately. After finally taking a loss with the team, I went back to my passing teams and man-oh-man did I ever suck. My passing game went through the floor. It was so bad that it resulted in only the 2nd shut out I have ever endured. It was plain embarrassing.
The problem is that I am a thread the needle passer that's not afraid to throw to Gold CBs/Safeties and try to fit it into tight spaces. When you go from throwing 30 times a game to throwing 5 to 10 max, you lose a lot of your timing ability and quite frankly forget a lot of your 'money' plays.
The best approach IMHO is a balanced game. Although I'm not quite sure how to achieve it. If I have a Gold HB, then you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be running the snot out of him. If I have a Bronze HB, then odds are I'll be passing for the most part. I don't believe in the Silver HB's and that may be a big 'balance' problem for me.

I was balanced w/ my teams, but never had a single balance team, if that makes sense.
Team 1. Emmitt Smith, I was ran probably 60-40. 4th qaurter as long as I wasn't down by 2 scores it probably went to 80-20.
Team 2. WCO, Passing game was my running game 70-30.
Team 3. Run N' Gun, maybe my most balanced team w/ Okoye, Rob Moore, Herman Moore, and Rocket Ismail. Could have been dangerous if I used them right. 45-55

I have only one team......and I try to play very balanced with it. But, it all depends on how the guy I am playing is at defense. I try to take what he is giving me.
If he can't stop the run......then I will try to run it down his throat.
If he is shutting my run down....then I will pass more often.

i use a pass oriented team and a run oriented team. my pass team is joe montana with bronze WR's, the run team is oj simpson and marcus allen with bronze qb and wrs. with montana i use the pass and every once in awhile run the ball with floyd little, even though hes not that great (except returns he is awesome) he gets great runs because the defense focuses on the pass, and vice versa with my running team.
i recently got all 5 achievements however, and ive been messing around with my jim brown team. im basically trying to get the best offense possible with as few players on offense as possible (e.g. let jim brown do the work lol :) ). i love the running game and its my favorite, although i love joe montana too.
i have an extremely defense oriented team (bioharzards..) at first it was ALL defense + randall cunningham since hes the ultimate weapon. but now I added a 2nd player to offense, dwight clark. i dont pass it to clark all game though, i pass to my generics and usually they catch the ball, expecially the tight end poli-dixon. ya they do make big mistakes and drop teh ball when they shouldnt have, but thats why i put dwight clark in, to give the genercs a hand. :)

I try to base my game on running because I have such a pourous passing game that I need one to set up the other.

I tend to have alot of high tier players on D. So I usually have to establish the run before I pass. Sometimes though you have to make a few big passes to open up the run. I think alot of it is situational. If I have a lead in 3rd I'll run more.
