to throw an ally oop on 360 hold Left trigger and hit A or whatever your pass button is but they will only throw it if you have a player breaking to the basket... and the meter is that players shooting range the more its lit up the more likely the ball handler is to make the shot from that spot on the floor

Yea, b ut sometimes, they just throw a lob pass to the dude position. On March Madness 08 however, if you press RB, it automatically throws an alley-loop.

I have my guy throw them when i push LB and B ( i think which ever is lead pass) when they are breaking to the hoop. I don't do it very much actually only like once so i don't know if that always works or not
