I didnt play a lot of college hoop last year, but I just got the game, and online gaming has changed so much. I had become very frustrated in previous years with the people who will win at all costs and forget about how to play the actual game.

Gone are the days of realism. Sure you can find some opponents that are worthy and great gamers, respect the way it should be played. What do I mean by that?

When playing with a low 80 team against a UCLA, Memphis, etc, their team already has an advantage on your team as they are more skilled. Couple that with constant double teams, and turning up their fast break for constant layups is one thing. Fine, I can understand those who say learn how to stop it. Lower the rate that you crash the boards, watch for the double teams. But then they use maximum passing and lead pass to their dominant center every time you shut down the fast break. The result of the lead pass is a dunk or a foul 75% of the time as their centers are some of the most dominant in the game. I have yet to play this game that much and have not attempted to even learn maximum passing, but its pretty ridiculous, because on man or zone the man is getting to the hoop, at least on the inadaquate centers I can throw at you with Bradley or Providence.

Then they get upset with you when they continue to fast break when they are up 18 with 10 seconds left, double teaming you when you are just trying to end the game in the last minute cuz they have done everything possible to humiliate you and the game, but you do not wish to quit. Sure, they give you a positive comment of great sportsmanship because you refuse to quit, but you sure as hell give them a negative comment for knowing nothing bout the game. Their excuse, this isnt the real sport, its a video game, and I want to win! Is it fair to us consumers who play the game for the integrity of the sport. Maybe I'm at the disadvantage being at college and playing games once every few weeks. I'm gonna come home wanting to play a fun game, testing my skills, and get some scrub opponent abusing everything he can to defeat you.

However, even 2k ratings cannot assist you here. When these scrubs play against eachother, it seems like a good game and they give eachother positive ratings, simple as that.

For every 5 or 6 of these guys you find online there is that one worthy opponent that is worth waiting for. The type of game where there is strategy, where you need to change the defense to their multi-dimensional offense. Where shooting up the 3 is more important than trying to dunk the ball everytime. Where plays are actually run, where the press and the double team are essential to traps in the corner but not on the guard at the top of the key, who has done nothing all game. Where the player does not run his guard through everyone of your passing lanes, but rather guards the man or zone he was designated.

Why do people play like this? What is the fun of winning at all costs? Sure winning the Pontiac Tournament would be great, but its quite clear playing the game with realism as gone long down the drain, and here comes the generation of adolescents who wish to discover ways in which they know you cannot defeat them. I am sorry Bradley and Providence are not among the best in the country and therefore I can fight through these problems.

If you ever looking for a realistic game, hit up my gamertag rjsuperfly66.

I can't believe 2k picked this year of all years to take 2 steps back in gameplay..the past couple of choops of been beyond excellent(besides the framerate cap online last year).. and then they decide to go the way of EA(cheesey/gimmicks) for no aparant reason..
People are and were seemingly lining up to buy this game regardless, they didnt need to add the gimmicks and garbage to attract the casual gamer.. im supremely disappointed as this was always "the game" to look forward to..sadly no longer the case

After last years game there was no way i was going to pick up this years.

I love when dribbling i would just fall down and lose the ball because someone was in full court press mode. I i would throw the ball away when i tried to pass before i even got to the trap spot.

There will allways be the fan boys who say this game is great blah blah blah but 2k has taken 10 steps backwards when it comes to online play. PERIOD.

i forgot about the press last year.. that was bad.. and the year before was the auto reverse dunkcrap and cpu-assited blocked shots(worst than this year)..and they still havent taken out the insta-spin and hop crap..
lol i guess they were always a cheesey gamer maker, but in years past you deal w/the small trifles to get to the meat of the gameplay.. this year the gameplay is soo cpu-assisted and ****-poor it makes me wanna vomit...

Its funny b/c everyone views ea as evil and 2k as the light, but 2k is just as cheesey as ea.. the just dont have the money ea has or else i think they'd be seen as equally poor(gameplay wise) game developers

This game is great... really, but I'm not trying to play online. I've given up playing games online for awhile... it's frustrating no matter what. I'll play my friends, you know?

People are getting better and better at cheesing and I am not even trying to adjust to a cheese style of play...

Offline play Closed Legacy is great...

I find gameplay a lot better then last year.

I feel as though the defense has stepped up, and unlike last year, you cannot just run around or through the defense with your star player. Also, you cannot sprint up the court for the hail mary and lay it up for two easy points every time off a made basket.

Grahics are significantly better, and they added the little things to the game like high 5s and player animations that they do not need to go to cutscenes to show.

However, as much as I like legacy, I also like the playing styles you get online. A team like Marquette wont play slashing in a legacy as they would in real life. However, anyone who knows anything about the team they are playing with will use their real-like tendancies and play like that team.

However, I feel like the quality opponent is missing. If you go on live, a majority of the players are ranked in the top 100, but only can play with the best teams in the game while abusing one aspect of that teams style. I enjoy finding the user who plays as Creighton, BYU, Gonzaga, and understands the game and accepts the facts that although they will lose at a higher frequency, they are playing the game in an appropriate fashion, as real basketball should be played.

im about to give up on online 2...its so boring and every1 throws full court passes for easy fastbreaks and the dbl team steal OMFG!!!! its the most used exploit ever in a 2k game and yes more than the hopstep/spin move exploit. ive played 11 gms and none of them were sim, ive played a guy that dbl teams 5 times a min so ima bout 2 give up on online...i think ima jus qualify for the pontiac and thats it

I'm usually online looking for midmajor games. I ran with Providence until I realized not having Hill there was frustrating me.

Also people need to learn how to check VIP's online. If you don't want to play someone who fastbreaks all game, check their offense tempo.

If someone is gonna double team excessively, check their double teams per minute.

2k gives people the tools to find opponents of their liking.

No, VIP is not the end all be all when it comes to finding a good game. It's pretty much just 'try it to see.' Because, plenty of people are sim but when they get down they start cheesing. The most 'sim' people I've played do that...

Nothing wrong with fast breaking all game, either... if that's your style... but lead passing for the dunk and double team stealing is just wack. Man, I don't understand where 2k is going with it... that's why I'm playin' offline.

I agree that teams don't play like they would, but if you start a closed legacy and put it on MOP you'll be challenged at least for awhile. That's what's good... the higher ranked team has a huge advantage so if you get an upset, you feel good. It's challenging until you get to be a good coach and start bringing in 4 stars. Once you can get 4 stars, the game is too easy... but before that, you will have to grind out against any decent team.

ive been trying to stay out of this crap but you really need to stfu....

i agree with the orginal post why can ppl just play str8 i get davidson vs unc and dude comes on inbound reaching double teaming and runing around on d with hans bro

then i play uconn with the same team and it happens again with thebeat
what ****es me off is that these ppl joined a open sim league know (or maybe they just dont) that they are cheesers.
if your not sim and just want to run around and double team the least you could do is tell me before i have to waste a half hour ****ed off.

Its so hard to find a complete sim game now.

Its almost like you settle and play whoever is on or you dont play and it really sucks that iit has to be like that.

This game will never be sim until it rewards people for playing sim. Which is pretty hard to imagine how that is even possible.

Sim is like playing with training wheels on... why waste your time if you are trying to win you go all out cheese. It's a game and a flawed one at that...
