Alright, I'll be playing on ESPN College Hoops 2K4. I know it's old, but I haven't liked any College Hoops game since 2K4. I love their NBA games, but not the college. No disrespect to 2K, though, because I'm still satisfied with their game from 4 years ago!

James Frizzell Hired as High Point Panthers Coach!
ESPN.com's Russell Sprague reports that the the struggling High Point Panthers have hired a new coach. Sprague has learned that the Panthers have hired James Frizzell as theur new head basketball coach. Frizzell was a local high school basketball in the High Point area who had considerable success at the high school level. He had never won the state championship, but had several good seasons and took relatively weak teams and turned them into great teams through his excellent shooting ability.
Frizzell's favorite team as a child was the West Virginia Mountaineers. Though, he was actually born in High Point, North Carolina, he moved to West Virginia as a very young child. He and his family would move back to High Point, North Carolina when he was in High School.
Frizzell is 6'2" and is 25 years old. He graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC a few years ago in which he received a degree in coaching.

Press Conference
Today, new Panthers coach James Frizzell held a press conference in which he talked to the local media. Greensboro News and Record and High Point Enterprise, the local newspapers, reporters filled the small room in which Frizzell seated. He stated, "First off, I would like to thank High Point University for this great opportunity. I never imagined I'd be coaching Division 1 basketball so soon, and for my hometown team."
Frizzell also said that he had talked to the players and they were very accepting of him. "I held a team meeting yeterday," he said, "and I feel that we can have a really goo year. We have some talented guys who hustle and work very hard. I like the team that hustles, because no matter how out-talented you are, you can always win."
Frizzell has a little over a month to prepare this team for play as they tip off against the Clemson Tigers, a very good opponent.

Preseason Press Conference
New High Point Coach James Frizzell talked to the local media today about the upcoming season. "Hello, I am happy to be here."
Reporter: "How do you expect to fare this upcoming season?"
Coach Frizzell: "I prefer not to answer these types of questions, because I may end up being wrong. All I've got to say is this team is very talented. We havy great chemistry, we all work hard, and I think we can do very well if we try our best, including myself.
Reporter: "How do you feel about the opening 7 games of your schedule?"
Coach Frizzell: "Well, needless to say, it looks quite tough. I didn't expect to coach my first three games in the gyms of Clemson, Michigan, and Clemson, but I look at these games as a way to get a sense of how we stack up to the competition and what we need to work on. I'd like to be able to coach at the Mills Athletic and Convention Center (High Point's home gym) earlier in the year, but as I stated a few weeks ago, at least I get to coach there in 2003!"
Reporter: "Who do you think will star for your team this year?"
Coach Frizzell: "Everybody will. I expect this team to play good, fundamental basketball, passing the ball, finding the open man. I don't want us to shoot contested shots. In order to win, you have to share the basketball, and that's what I plan to do."
Reporter: "If you are successful, do you plan to stay at High Point for a few years?"
Coach Frizzell: "Well, I don't want to say either way, but right now I have no plans for leaving in the near future."
Reporter: "What are your goals for the season?"
Coach Frizzell: "Well, out ultimate goal is to win the National Championship, but realistically, I'd like to win the Big South Conference and receive an NCAA Tournament berth."
Reporter: "Thank you for your time, Mr. Frizzell."
Coach Frizzell: "Thank you for the opportunity. I enjoyed it."

are u kidding me. this legacy sucks big time. Nothing against you SuperJames or your writing, but this whole buisness that High Point in 2004 is rated like 4-12 points higher for your starters than my Princeton team in my second year is horrible. Thanks a lot. Just from that I have to leave them after this year so I don't have to stay on a crappy team. Thanks for taking down what low self esteem i already had. appreciate it Superjames.

Well, I think the ratings back then were more even, actually. I look at Uconn's roster (Ranked #1), and they only have like one guy rated in the 90s. Now, my High Point team is not very good really. I've never seen a player rated in the 50s on this game and really not many lower than 65. It's not that my team is particularly better, it's just they rate the players different nowdays.
So, don't feel bad! It's just a different game, and a different game means different ratings!:)

So, So Close to the Upset...
11/24/03 @ Clemson Tigers (1-0)
Final Score: 84-85
Coach Frizzell coached his first game of his career tonight in a bettle against an elite team of the ACC, the Clemson Tigers. Frizzell pushed the tempo in this offensive game, and it showed as the final score was 84-85. High Point shot an astonishing 57%, which usually wins you ballgames, but when you allow the opposing team to shoot 60%, as the Tigers did tonight, it doesn't do much good. "We shot the ball well and I was impressed," Coach Frizzell explained, "but we cannot let the opposing team shoot 60%, or we'll never win!" Small forward Jerrod Freije scored a game-high 32 points as he torched the Tiger defense. Power forward Michael Leonard scored 17 points in the contest and also grabbed 5 boards.
High Point and Coach Frizzell begin their season 0-1 (0-0).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wolverines Stifle Panthers in Ann Arbor
11/26/03 @ Michigan Woverines (1-0)
Final Score: 55-68
The Panthers received a reality check in this game. After taking Clemson to the wire, the Panthers were dominated in this one. The Wolverines led comfortably throughout the game and held High Point to just 42% shooting after they shot 57% versus Clemson. "You can't expect to shoot 57% ever night," stated Coach Frizzell. "On most nights, you're going to shoot below 50%, so we need to be prepared for that. We turned the ball over 16 times tonight, and I think we need to work on that aspect of our game. I felt our defense played better tonight, though, so I'll take it for what it's worth." Center Alex Allen scored 11 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds.
High Point falls to 0-2 (0-0).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Panthers Fall to Cavaliers
11/30/03 @ Virginia Cavaliers (2-0)
Final Score: 70-85
The Panthers played well in the first half of this game as they went into halftime only down by 2. However, Virginia came out of the locker room fired up as they went on to win by a margin of 15 points in this one. The Cavaliers forced 19 Panther turnovers, while they only turned the ball over 9 times. Coach Frizzell addressed the turnover problem by saying, "If you want ot win, you must hold onto the basketball, which we didn't do. It doesn't matter how good you can shoot it if you don't get the opportunity to shoot it due to a turnover." A total of 4 Panthers got into double-figures in scoring tonight as they offense shot the ball well, but turned the ball over far too much.
High Point loses their third in a row as they fall to 0-3 (0-0).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Panthers Grab First Win of the Year!
12/2/03 @ Western Carolina Catamounts (0-2)
Final Score: 75-66
The Panthers faced off against their in-state opponents, the Western Carolina Catamounts, in this one. High Point forced the Catamounts into 21 turnovers while holding them to 41% shooting as Coach Frizzell got the first win of his young career. High Point shot 51% in the game. "This is what you get when you take care of the ball, a win," Frizzell explained. "We turned the tables in this game as we turned up the pressure and forced 21 turnovers. I love to see that as a coach." Alex Allen scored 12 points to go along with a dozen rebounds while sharpshooter Damon Carlisle tallied 14 points.
High Point picks up their first win of the season and improves to 1-3 (0-0).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Panthers Outshoot the Mountaineers!
12/6/03 @ Mount Saint Mary's Mountaineers (3-3)
Final Score: 77-67
The Panthers played very well in this one as they outshot the Mountaineers 59% to 40% as they won by 10 points. "When you shoot the ball well and don't turn the ball over, you generally win," explained Frizzell, "and that's what we did tonight." Damon Carlislt showcased his three point shooting ability as he nailed 3 of 4 three point attempts and scored 25 points. Michael Leonard was a force down low as he picked up 16 points.
High Point improves to 2-3 (0-0).

High Point Pounds Cross-town Rival UNCG
12/13/03 @ UNC Greensboro Spartans (2-3)
Final Score: 64-47
The Spartans of UNCG and the High Point campuses are located within 30 minutes of each other. One is located in Greensboro while the other is in the neighboring city of High Point. Both teams always play each other with pride and passion and, in this game, the Panthers seemed to want the win more. The Panthers pounded the Spartans by a margin of 17 points as they totally dominated the Spartans in their home gym. UNCG shot just 36%, a number Coach Frizzell credits to his team's defense. "We played some man, some 2-3 zone, and some 1-3-1 zone in this game and we were in their face all game. We switched defenses up a lot and they looked confused out there. The players executed the plays I called and we won." Unfortunately, late in the game, Michael Leonard was injured with a broked finger. He will miss 2 weeks, meaning he will miss the Furman and North Carolina A&T games. Jerrod Freije led High Point with 12 points while Alex Allen led High Point with 12 rebounds.
High Point improves to .500 with the win as they improve to 3-3 (0-0).
SF, Jeffod Freije: 12 points, 5 rebounds
PF, Michael Leonard: 10 points, 5 rebounds
C, Alex Allen: 8 points, 12 rebounds.

Panthers Down Paladins
12/20/03 @ Furman Paladins (3-4)
Final Score: 65-60
The Panthers were behind most of the game, but Damon Carlisle's late game heroics led the Panthers past the Paladins. Carlisle drained 5 consecutive threes on consecutive possessions in the second half as he showcased his shooting ability. "It's nice to have a guy who can shoot the ball like that," commented Coach Frizzell. "You can put the ball in his hands and he will likely drain the open bucket." The Panthers were held to just 39% shooting by Furman while the Paladins shot 41%. However, the Panthers got 16 offensive rebounds leading to 19 second chance points. Damon Carlisle ended the game with 30 points and drained 8 of 12 three point attempts.
High Point improves to 4-3 (0-0).
SG, Damon Carlisle: 30 points, 8/12 3 Pt. FG
SF, Lakeith Danielson: 8 points, 7 rebounds

Press Conference
Coach Frizzell talked to the local media today about the upcoming 2 home games versus cross-town rival North Carolina A&T and The Citadel. "I am greatly anticipating my first game in front of the home fans. The Mills Athletic and Convention Center is a great facility. The fans are great. I bet the atmosphere on gameday is awesome. In fact, I think we should give the gym a nickname. How about the Panthers' Den? That way we can scare out opponents into submission. How about that?" So with that, the long name of the Mills Athletic and Convention Center has been gived a shorter, catchier nickname, the Panthers' Den.

High Point held A&T to just 42% shooting in the 8 point win. "We played well tonight and I was impressed with our performance," stated Coach Frizzell. Final Score: 65-73
High Point's winning streak ended at 5 tonight as the Panthers fell to The Citadel by 8 points. The Panthers shot only 40% and played very poorly. Coach Frizzell was visibly disappointed in his team following the game saying things like, "What a pathetic performance", and "I wish we could have had that shot back."
High Point falls to 5-4 (0-0).

November-December Recap
The High Point Panthers started out 0-3 as they played 3 major conference teams. Coach Frizzell would rally the troops as he would get the Panthers to pull off 5 straight wins to improve to 5-3. The Panthers would drop the next game against the Bulldogs of The Citadel, and would end 2003 with a 5-4 record. Out-of-conference play is now complete and the Panthers will play the Big South Conference schedule.
The Panthers have shot the ball well at a clip of 48%, whcih ranked 1st in the Big South. "We shot the ball well, and I believe that was the key to our success," stated Coach Frizzell in a press conference. "This team has surpassed my expectations and I am really excited about conference play."
With the tough part of their schedule behind them and a 5-4 record, it is conceivable that the Panthers could pull off 15-20 wins this season, somethin first-year coach James Frizzell would be happy with. "Of course I would be happy," he said. "I'd love to have that success in my first year here."
Conference play starts on January 3rd against the Buccaneers of Charleston-Southern, who are 1-5 so far this year.

The Panthers also blocked a season-high 12 shots in the game. "We played great," Coach Frizzell said after the blowout. "I feel we played our best basketball of the season in this game. I don't know what happened. It seemed I couldn't miss. I got lots of open shots and nailed just about all of them. I started to played very fast paced in the 2nd half in a futile attempt to attempt to get 100 points, but I fell 10 points short.

February 25th, 2008, 05:01 PM
High Point, NC - High Point University head basketball coach, James Frizzell, talked to reporters from the Greensboro News and Record and the High Point Enterprise today about how his team has performed thus far this year. The Panthers are currently 6-4 overall and 1-0 in Big South Conference play with a win over Charleston-Southern in conference, a 31 point win, in fact. The Panthers are 6-1 since playing the likes of Clemson, Michigan, and Virginia and have been on quite a roll as Coach Frizzell's coaching philosophies have been gelling well within the team.
"We are really playing as a team," commented Coach Frizzell. "We are truly five guys playing as one out there. Nobody is greedy; we all get our shots. I have been impressed with the teamwork these guys have displayed. We have no egos on this team. The minute one of these guys gets egotistical is the minute they are dismissed from the High University basketball team. I will not allow egos on my basketball team."
Coach Frizzell went on to explain his keys for success so far this season. "Well, we have a good amount of talent, in my opinion," he said. "Of course, playing as a team is our main key to success, but we have a few others that have worked well for us. We have been sharing the basketball well. I always stress the extra pass. A good shot isn't good enough if there is a great shot open. I really like to shoot the three point shot, but we don't have too many great three point shooters on this team, so I have not been able to exploit that route as much as I would have liked to. Damon Carlisle has been given a bunch of opportunities to shoot the three as he is a really good three point shooter. He is one of the best in the Big South. Demon Conklin, Ben Baker, and Vince Hodge have shot the three very well, also. Luckily, we have some beasts down low, so we still are very potent on offense, as evidenced by our 90 points we scored against Charleston-Southern."
Coach Frizzell wrapped up the press conference by thanking everybody for coming. "Thanks for coming," he said. "I like to inform the fans about our happenings of the team and press conferences are the best way to do so. Now, I have to get on the bus with the team and make our way to Conway, South Carolina to play the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, whom we play tomorrow!"

Chanticleers Top Panthers 69-60
Conway, SC - Both teams came into the game on a hot streak, but only one could continue it as the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers topped the High Point Panthers 69-60 in a tightly contested affair. Coastal Carolina held the lead most of the night, but their largest lead was only 9 points, so it was close for the entire game. They were leading by 6 with a minute left, before High Point began to foul. In the end, all the fouling did was extend the game and make the score look worse than it really was, in reality, as High Point lost a tough game on the road 69-60.
High Point head coach James Frizzell was disappointed after the game. "I felt like we could have played better, but what can you do? At times, it seemed like their was a lid on the rim as would would miss 7 or 8 shots in a row. We can work on turnovers, though. I just took a look at the box score and 14 is way too many. We did a good job of forcing turnovers, but we must take care of the ball, too."
The High Point Panthers pick up their first loss of the season in Big South conference play with the loss.

Winthrop was heavily favored to win the Big South Championship this season and looked well on their way to doing so as they posted a 7-2 record coming into the game and looked to roll over weaker Big South opponents. Then, they came to the Panthers' Den...
Winthrop jumped out of the gates and took control early on assuming a 15-10 lead early. Eventually, High Point would climb back into the game and would lead the Winthrop Eagles 31-29 at halftime. High Point and Winthrop played a thrilling back and forth second half filled with lots of excitement as their were many, many lead changes down the stretch. High Point led 62-59 with two minutes left and would go on to take the home victory 65-60.
Coach Frizzell loved thee way his team played in front of the home crowd. "I think playing in the Panthers' Den really energizes this team to come out and try their best. We looked like a totally different team than two days agao on the road against Coastal Carolina. We went after loose balls and made all the hustle plays, which gave us the victory. We may not have as much talent as they do, but we have just as much heart. I can't wait for our rematch with Winthrop in Rock Hill on February 11th!"

Panthers Comeback Bid Falls Short, Lose 65-61
Lynchburg, VA - Horrible shooting downed the Panthers is this tough road matchup against the Liberty Flames. The Panthers shots only 34% in the game and were 4/23 (17%) from three point range. The Panthers had only 17 points in the first half of play and only 48 with two minutes remaining, when junior backup shooting guard, Vince Hodge, ignited, draining 3 three pointers in the final 2 minutes to pull within 4 points at the buzzer. Hodge ended the game with a career-high 23 points and was 4/9 from three point range. The rest of the team was 0/14.
Coach Frizzell was very disappointed in his team's shot selection in the game. "Well, we shot pretty decently in our big win against Winthrop, then come out here and shoot like maniacs against Liberty, thinking we can make anything. When you shoot 23 three pointers and make only 4 of them, there is a problem. We need to work more on shooting threes or just not shoot them at all. It is painful to watch a bunch of bricked shots all game long."

Panthers Get Verbal Commitment From Recruit
High Point, NC - After visiting the Mills Athletic and Convention Center on January 5th when the Panthers defeated the Winthrop Eagles, shooting guard William Anderson decided to write to Coach Frizzell saying he has verbally committed to play basketball for High Point University. He said he was "excited about playing basketball for High Point University for the next four years."
Anderson, a 1 star shooting guard, hails fromm Aspen Hill, Maryland, where he lit up high school gyms with this great jumpshot. He is a great spot up shooter and should help Coach Frizzell's squad shoot the ball better. He is 6'2" and weighs 185 pounds. He was the 1,349th ranked recruit of the 2004 class. High Point beat out the likes of Coppin State, IPFW, and University of Maryland-Eastern Shore in the recruiting battle. Anderson said he really liked the coaching philosophies Coach Frizzell brought to the table and that is what ultimately swayed his decision to come to High Point.
Coach Frizzell was happy about signing the first recruit of his career. "William is a great kid," Coach Frizzell said. "I met with his a couple times on his official visit and really liked him. He seemed like a hard worker who can really make an impact and will try his best. He can really be the leader of this team in the future. He definitely brings a positive attitude."

High Point Outscores Keydets 85-74
High Point, NC - The VMI Keydets came into the Panthers' Den with a 2-5 record and looking for their first Big South conference victory of the season. Their bid was denied, however, as the Keydets turned the ball over 19 times in the loss the Panthers. The Keydets shot 52% compared to High Points 46%, but the 19 turnovers and the fact High Point drilled 21 of their 22 free throw attempts in the game. Damon Carlisle nailed all 14 of his free throw attempts.
Coach Frizzell was pleased with the win. "We played great out there," Frizzell said. "Our shooting defense ws shaky at times, but forcing 19 turnovers made up for it. We only attempted 5 three pointers in the game and I am happy that we did not fire threes at random like last week's game against Liberty. we got to the free throw line late in the game and were able to seal the game up with our spectacular free throw shooting. Damon Carlisle made all 14 of his free throw attempts, so he'll be getting something special after the game."

Radford Outshoots High Point 76-67
High Point, NC - Most folks expected High Point to win this one fairly easy. Radford was 1-9 and 0-2 in Big South conference play. They had dropped several games in a row and were coming to the Panthers' Den to play. Well, they proved those folks wrong as they put on a shooting clinic tonight against the High Point Panthers, whose field goal defense struggled once again as Radford shot 57%. This marks the fourth straight game in which High Point's opponents have shot 50% or above in a game. High Point is 2-2 in those games.
High Point forced turnovers, as usual, forcing the Highlanders into 19 turnovers. Unfortunately, High Point committed 19 turnovers of their own.
Terrence Ferguson of Radford was the star of the game as he hit everything. He scored 27 points and dished out 6 asssts. He hit 9 of 13 shot attempts in the game, including 3 three pointers. "He is really good," commented Coach Frizzell. "I wish we had him on our team."
Radford seemed to be on a mission in this game as they seemed to hit everything, even with High Point defenders right in their faces. "They hit everything," commmented a frustrated Coach Frizzell after the game. "It was hard to keep them from shooting 57% considering they nailed just about everything, whether they were open or not. That is very frustrating to watch."

He should be okay, though, since I am in the Big South, after all, and he fits the type of offense I like to run pretty well. We shall see. He may be a great one. (Now watch him never even play his whole career he is is so terrible, LOL!)

Well, if you sucked at recruiting like I do, you would understand.
Plus, recruiting seems to be harder in this game than newer versions. It is totally different as you have to recruit players by sending them letter, ect. I really like it, though, because it gives you more of a feeling that you get to know them personally. It is cool, but hard, or I just suck. It's probably a little bit of everything...

Are you playing in any of the ABL games at all. I have found that no matter where I coach I can generally sign at least 3* and the occasion 4* even at a small school. Look for guys who don't have other scholarship offers, Once a school offers move on because chances are very slim you will retake the lead.
If you want more detailed help you can PM me or just search on tips for recruiting I have posted them several times.

Sorry, I forgot to inform you all that I am playing on the 5 year old ESPN College Hoops 2K4, so no ABL, no world recruits (besides Canada), but awesome commentary. This is the only game I have ever owned in which I truly feel like I am in the game. The atmosphere is awesome in 2K4.
Maybe I am weird for playing 5 year old games, maybe I have nostalgia, I don't know. The main thing is that I am having fun and that is all that matters!!!

Panthers Win Defensive Battle 51-48
Birmingham, AL - Defense was the name of the game tonight. High Point shot only 42%, but fared better than Birmingham-Southern's 38% shooting. In the end, High Point won the game 51-48 in a very low scoring affair. The Panthers forced Birmingham-Southern into 16 turnovers to their 11, which ultimately played a key role in the tight game.
Coach Frizzell was fairly pleased with his team's performance. "We played very well on defense. We got lots of steals and forced them into a lot of bad shots, which resulted in their poor shooting percentage. After 4 straight games of allowing our opponents to shoot at least 50%, it is nice to hold Birmingham-Southern to only 38%. On offense, we were a little out of sync. We didn't shoot very well in this game, something that has been plaguing us all season. Hopefully, before the Big East Tournament, we can get our act together on offense, because we need to be efficient there."

Friars Fry Panthers 76-57
Durham, NC - Shooting 18% in the first half of a basketball game is certainly a way to dig yourself a very deep hole, and that's just what the Panthers did today as the North Carolina A&M Friars held to Panthers to a miserable 18% shooting. The Panthers also committed 15 turnovers in their 17 point first half effort. Though the Panthers offense would improve in the second half and they would end up shooting 40%, they were too far behind, especially since the Friars caught fire late in the game. The Panthers got within 7 with 7 minutes left on a 10-0 run, but got no closer as they wound up losing by 19 points on the road.
"We played terrible tonight," commented head coach James Frizzell. "The stats do not show how terribly we really played, but we played plain awful. This is by far the worst game I have ever coached. Shots were clanking off the rim. We were 0/11 from three point range. The only reason we ended up shooting 40% is because they [NC A&M] got lazy and we were able to get a bunch of layups. This is embarrassing."

Panthers Dominate Flames, Win 66-36
High Point, NC - The High Point Panthers, after being embarrassed by North Carolina A&M just 5 says earlier, came out and performed a clinic tonight, as the Panthers held the Liberty Flames to a pathetic 27% shooting. The Panthers played a 2-3 zone most of the day as Coach Frizzell found success with it. "Normally I switch up defenses a lot between man to man, a 2-3 zone, and a 1-3-1 zone, but tonight they seemed particularly bothered by our 2-3 zone, so I stuck with it, and it worked very well."
The Panthers were out of the gates fast as they went on a 13-0 run early in the first half and an 8-0 run later on. Combine that with a 10-0 run late in the game and you see exactly why High Point won. High Point's offense was pretty good tonight, but the key was the defense, as Liberty would go for extended periods of time without scoring a single point. Defense was the name of the game tonight.
Coach Frizzell was pleased with the nice win. "We have been inconsistent as of late," he said. "It's really nice to win, but we have been see sawing our last eight or so ballgames and that has to stop. Hopefully, we can carry some of the momentum we gained here today and use it in the future. Now January is over and we must get down and dirty."

The High Point Panthers had a month of inconsistency this January. They never won more than 1 in a row and never lost more than 1 in a row, the whole month. They began with a 90-59 pounding of Charleston-Southern in Charleston to open up Big South Conference play, getting the fans back in High Point excited about conference play. However, they would follow that 31 point win up with a 60-69 loss to Coastal Carolina. They would bounce back with a nice 65-60 win over the Winthrop Eagles, considered by many to be the class of the Big South. They would go on to lose to Liberty and beat VMI. They would follow up the VMI win with a loss to Radord. They would theb beat Birmingham-Southern, lose to North Carolina A&M, and hold Libery to just 36 points in their final game of the month, a 66-36 win in High Point.
The Panthers went 5-4 in the month of January and Coach Frizzell was disappointed with that record. "Well, 5-4 does not look too bad, but the fact is we did not play that well. We would have a nice game where we played well, but then would follow that up with a loss to somebody we should have beat. It bothers me we never won more than 1 game in a row, but it comforts me that we did not lose more than 1 game in a row. All in all, it was an okay month, but a very frustrating one for sure."

Panthers Comeback on Eagles, Win 76-73
Rock Hill, SC - This was probably the biggest game of the season thus far for the High Point Panthers. The Winthrop Eagles were 10-6 and tied with High Point with a 5-4 record in Big South conference play. The Panthers had won their earlier meeting in High Point in January, but this was February and it was getting to be crunch time. It was expected to be a great game and the fans would get quite a game.
The Panthers got off to a nice lead early, keeping around a 5 point lead throughout the first half of play. The Panthers would lead 35-33 at halftime and Coach Frizzell was pleased with the performance his Panthers had put on thus far in the game. The Panthers would jump out early in the second half to lead by as much as 7 points, but then Winthrop ignited their home crowd, as they came charging back to tie the game. They would go on to take a 10 points lead with just 4 minutes left. Coach Frizzell called a timeout and drew up a gameplan to stop Winthrop on defense, by employing a 1-3-1 zone, as the Panthers had been running a lot of 2-3 zone sets along with some man to man, but it had not been working in the later stages of the second half. The defensive spark ignited High Point as they would go on to take a slim lead and eventually win the game by 3 points as they narrowly escaped Rock Hill to pick up their 11th victory of the season.
Coach Frizzell was excited about the way his team played. "We just came out in this hostile enviroment and did what we were supposed to do. We played hard against Winthrop. I think Winthrop is probably the best team in the Big South talent-wise. They may not have the best record, but they have the most talent of all of us in the Big South and it feels good to knock them out on their home floor, something not many teams do."

Panthers Win 68-63, but Suffer Huge Injury
High Point, NC - The High Point Panthers got off to a fast start in this affair, putting up a total of 40 points by halftime and shooting nearly 60% from the field. The Panthers were forcing turnovers at will and would assume a 40-25 lead at halftime. Unfortunately, the Chanticleers found a way to exploit Coach Frizzell's 2-3 defense which he had been using all night and were able to outscore the Panthers 38-28 in the second half. However, High Point would hold on for a 5 point victory, as they won 68-63 at home.
The game featured some very saddening news, though, that will affect this High Point University basketball team dramatically. Small forward Jerrod Freije, the team's second leading scorer, went down with a torn archille's in the first half. After doctors examined the injury, they announced that the junior small forward will be done for the season. "It is hard to see a kid go down like that," commented Coach Frizzell. "I really hate for his season to end like this. He was having such a great year. Fortunately, he has next year to play, too, as he is only a junior. There is nothing worse than seeing a senior end his college career with an injury. I'm glad that was not the case here."
Coach Frizzell was not pleased with the injury, but was fairly satisfied with the game. "We played well, especially in the first half. We didn't take care of the ball as well as we should have, though, and got a little lackadaisical on defense there in the second half, but we won, so I am satisfied. One thing that surprised me about this game is the way we shot free throws. We have shot them very well all season. We have consistently led the Big South in free throw percentage all season, but today, I do not know what happened. We allowed the Chanticleers to get back in the game with our terrible free throw shooting late, as we only hit 5 of our 14 free throw attempts, or 36%. Demon Conklin hit all 4 of his free throws, meaning the rest of the team combined was 1/10 from the foul line. That is terrible. That is painful for my eye to look at. Luckily, we won, but if we would have lost, we would have know why. We need to make sure we don't lay an egg on foul shooting next week; that's for sure."

Yes, I will miss Freije. He was a great driver to the basket and he could dunk really well, too!
My backup shooting guard, Vince Hodge, has been stepping it up this year so far. I plan on starting him at small forward in place of Freije. He is a 73 overall junior. Freije was a 76 overall junior, so we won't be missing too much. Hodge cannot drive to the basket as well, but is very capable at shooting the three pointer, so maybe we can stretch the floor more with him.
I need to get the ball down low more anyways. Alex Allen is a pretty good senior center who is a monster of the glass. At small forward, I have junior Michael Leonard, who I have severely underused. He is rated a 76 (highest on the team) and has done pretty well this year when given the opportunity. I tend to not feed the ball down low as much as I should for some reason. I need to work on that, because that should free up some of my three point shooters so they can get open and knock down some threes.
As always, thanks for the reply and thanks for following!

Talk about a bittersweet victory! You get the W but your high scorer goes down.
I have a tendency to ignore the bigmen too. For some reason I seem to have better success driving to the basket with my guards. Good luck with your offensive adjustments

Vince Hodge to Start in Place of Injured Freije
High Point, NC - High Point University men's basketball coach James Frizzell notified to local media today that he planned on starting Vince Hodge in place of Jarrod Freije, who is now out of the rest of the season with a torn archille's. Hodge will replace Freije at the small forward position. Hodge, a 6'2 185 lbs. junior from Kernersville, NC, has had a pretty good season this year as a backup for Damon Carlisle at shooting guard, though Hodge has also played at the point guard and small forward positions this year. Hodge is 5th on the team in scoring with 7 points per game. He is shooting 42% on the year as well.

I love to shoot jumpshots and threes for some reason, as well as driving to the basket. I love nailing the three pointer and I want to try to recruit some better shooters as this team has only about four guys that are capable of hitting the three ball, and only one that can really hit it consistently in Damon Carlisle. Hopefully, my offensive adjustments will go as planned.

Panthers Win 80-73 in Overtime Thriller
High Point, NC - The High Point Panthers came out flat in this game played on a beautiful evening in High Point, North Carolina. The Panthers fell behind the Charleston-Southern Buccaneers by a much as 15 points at one point in the first half, but would cut the lead to 8 at halftime, as the Buccaneers would lead at halftime 32-24 in the Mills Athletic and Convention Center. The Panthers came out on fire in the second half, however, as they began to light it up from three point range. The Panthers would end the day going 8/17 on threes, or hitting them at a clip of 47%. The Panthers eventually took a 41-35 lead early in the second half. Both teams would trade leads throughout the game. Demon Conklin hit a three point basket that put High Point up 64-61 with 32 seconds remaining, but the Buccanneers answered with a three of their own, making it 64-64. High Point's buzzer beater attempt fell short as time expired, and the game was headed for overtime.
In the overtime period, both teams hung around until early as both teams would trade leads several times in the opening minutes of the extra period. Eventually, High Point would hit several key shots and nail crucial free throws to escape with a 7 point win. The fans at the Panthers' Den rejoiced, as their Panthers were still in contention for a Big South regular season championship with the win.
Coach Frizzell had mixed feelings about the game. "Well, we played horrible early on in the game. We just stunk. I could smell how bad we were playing. In the second half, we got some open three point buckets and we converted for what seems to be the first time this year. We tried to get the ball down to the low post and I'd say it worked pretty well, as both Michael Leonard and Alex Allen ended the game with double-doubles. The defense was also forced to collapse, leaving some of our shooters open on the perimeter, and they hit those crucial jumpshots. I was impressed with our composure in overtime. Our guys were not rattled at all and I was happy about that. All in all, it was a good game because we won, but we certainly could have played better."

High Point Wins 72-52 on Senior Night
High Point, NC - The final game at the Mills Athletic and Convention Center of the 2003-2004 regular season was played tonight. High Point jumped out to an early 15-5 lead and never looked back as they went on to win the game for the seniors 72-52. High Point shot the ball pretty well, but really shined on defense. High Point held Birmingham-Southern to just 38.5% shooting and forced them into 20 turnovers compared to just 8 assists.
Coach Frizzell opted to start senior Demon Conklin in place of Vince Hodge tonight in tribute to Conklin, since he is a senior. Conklin responded in a big way, drilling 3 three pointers en route to a season-high 16 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Fellow senior center Alex Allen scored 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists in the game. "Our 2 seniors on the team really stepped up and delivered tonight," commented Coach Frizzell. "I am very happy for them."
Coach Frizzell was overall impressed with the way his team played in the game. "Well, we did more of what we have been doing, and that has seemed to work. We switched between a 2-3 zone and 1-3-1 zone most of the game and that really seemed to slow down Birmingham-Southern's offense. On offense, we just passed the ball around, looking for open jumpshots and layups. We mixed in a little pick and roll to throw off the defense and that seemed to work as well."

Panthers Edge Out Highlanders in Overtime 84-77
Radford, VA - The High Point Panthers came into the game on a season-high 6 game winning streak looking to make it 7. Though they were successful, it was sure close. The Panthers went into the overtime period with a 65-65 tie, but outscored the Highlanders 19-12 in the extra period to go on to win the game 84-77. The win extends the Panthers' win streak to 7 games and their record to 16-8 (11-4).
Coach Frizzell was impressed with his team's poise in the overtime period. "Well, we played pretty well I thought. We went on the road for the first time in 4 games and I felt we played pretty well. It took us an extra period to win, but I will take that with a big 'ole smile on my face. We displayed some nice poise in overtime and I think we play very well in close games, which is a great quality to have. Overall, I was impressed."

Panthers Edge Out Keydets 68-55
Lexington, VA - The VMI Keydets jumped out to a 11-4 lead in the first few minutes of the game as the High Point Panthers had a tough time shooting the ball. The Panthers would fight back to tie the game at 22 at halftime. Both teams were shooting the ball poorly in the first half, but that would change in the second half. Both teams went back and forth as they heated up shooting the basketball. The game was 51-50 in High Point's favor with 3 minutes left until a barrage of threes fell for the Panthers. The Panthers had not hit a three pointer all game, but Demon Conklin rolled off a pick and roll and sank in a three with 3 minutes left to make it 54-50. Damon Carlisle sank in a three point bucket on the next possession to make it 57-50. The Panthers never looked back as Vince Hodge would add another three pointer in the final minutes to win the game 68-55, a score that suggests the game was not that close, when it reality, it was a nailbiter.
Coach Frizzell was disappointed by the effort his team expended in the game. "I understand we had just won and overtime game and are on a huge winning streak and that we were playing in Cameron Hall, but there is no excuse for such a letdown. In the first half, we looked like we were a middle school basketball team. We were throwing errant passes, dribbling the ball out of bounds, and just about everything you do not want to see as a coach. Luckily, on defense we were decent and we picked up our game in the second half to pick up the win."
The win secures a Big South Regular Season Championship for the High Point Panthers. "It feels great to win it," commented Coach Frizzell. "It is nice to win, but we still need to take care of business in the Big South Tournament if we hope to get to the Big Dance."

Panthers Demolish Flames 72-40
High Point, NC - The fans in High Point will have quite a party tonight as their hometown High Point Panthers demolished the visiting Liberty Flames 72-40 in the semi-final of the Big South Conference Tournament. The Panthers will face off against the winner of the Winthrop/Coastal Carolina game to see who gets the right to move on to play in the NCAA Tournament.
The Panthers got off to a very fast start and never looked back. High Point took a 42-20 lead into the locker room at halftime and cruised in the second half to win by an astounding 32 points. The win extends the Panthers' win streak to 10 games as they have cruised through February and March thus far. Two of those games were overtime thrillers, but they were wins.
Coach Frizzell was extremely pleased with his team's performance. "It seems like it is getting too easy. We are just destroying anybody and everybody. I don't know why we could not play like this the whole year, but I will take it now, as this time of year is when you want to be playing at your very best. I really think this team has the capability to knock off a few teams come time for the Big Dance. Right now, though, we are focusing on the Conference Championship Game and I am pumped about it!"

Panthers Defeat Eagles 69-63 to Win Big South Conference Tournament
High Point, NC - The High Point Panthers have captured the Big South Conference Tournament Title in new coach James Frizzell's first year as head coach of the Panthers. After winning the regular season title, the Panthers have clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament, or as many refer to it as, the "Big Dance". The Panthers won thsi game as they edged out the Winthrop Eagles 69-63. The Panthers played pretty well in the first half, as they took a 31-26 lead at halftime. The Panthers were up by as much as 11 in the second half before allowing Winthrop to claw back into the game as they got within 1 point in the final minutes, before High Point would go on a small run to clinch the game and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
High Point Panthers head coach took the honors of cutting the first bit of the nets off as the rest of the team soon followed. Coach Frizzell was very happy about the Big South Tournament Championship. "We worked hard all season long and it feels great to be doing this. I am glad I could help guide these kids all the way to the Big Dance. I am honored to win this title and will charish it forever, no matter how many more I win, or if I win more in more prestigious conferences. I will always remember my first!"
The High Point Panthers improve to 20-8 (12-4), giving Coach Frizzell a 20 win season in his first year as a head coach. The 20 win season will definitely help the Panthers come tournament time, as many project them to be around a 12-13 seed, a situation much better than being a 15 or 16 seed. Also, the win gives the Panthers an 11 game winning streak, as the Panthers have not lost since January 26th against the North Carolina A&M Friars.

Panthers Feel Slighted At Tournament Seeding
High Point, NC - The NCAA Tournament brackets came out today and it was announced that the High Point Panthers would be placed in the East Regional. Sounds great, right? Not so fast. The Panthers were given a #16 seed in the tournament, even with their 20-8 record. Coach Frizzell was livid about the seeding. "A 16th seed! We won 20 games for crying out loud! We have to play Duke now since the selection committee sucks so much! I know we were in a relatively weak conference, but a 16th seed is preposterous!"

I think we at least deserved a 13 or 14 seed. I mean, we won 20 games and are on a 11 game winning streak!!! At least I didn't have to play in the play in game, but still... I really don't want to have to play Duke in the first round. It sucks because I had such a good season. I hope it is not some glitch in my legacy where it has me as a 16 seed every year (I CERTAINLY HOPE NOT!), but it probably is not; I guess it was just a bad decision by the selection committee... :(

Blue Devils Trounce Panthers 91-59 to Advance in NCAA Tournament
Buffalo, NY - Coach Frizzell and his High Point Panthers traveled the farthest north they have traveled this season as they visited Canisius University in Buffalo, New York, where they would play the #1 seeded Duke Blue Devils. Coach Frizzell had complained about the #16 seeding they had received ever since they had gotten it and even complained about it an hour before the game to a CBS Sports reporter. He also ranted in the pregame press conference earlier that morning as he called the NCAA Selection Committee "a bunch of drunked b*stards who don't know what they're doing" amid other snide remarks. The NCAA is looking into possibily fining Coach Frizzell over the incident.
So, this was Coach Frizzell's chance to show the world that he was right and that his team did indeed deserve a higher seeding in the Big Dance. The game started out with an 8-0 Duke run early on. Duke would go into the locker room with a 13 point lead, as the score was 39-26. Things got interesting early in the second half as High Point got on a bit of a run, eventually getting within 5 as the score sat at 45-40 early in the second half. Then, Duke lit it up as they pulled out to a lead of 10 points, then 20, and eventually 30 points as they scored 52 points in the 2nd half alone to go on and defeat the High Point Panthers 91-59. The Blue Devils outscored the Panthers 52-33 in the 2nd half leading to the victory and advancing them to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Two Panthers played their final games of there careers tonight. Alex Allen, who was the Big South Tournament MVP, finished off his fine career with 12 points and 7 rebounds to go along with an assist, a steal, and three blocks, a worthy performance in his final game in a High Point uniform. Small Forward Demon Conklin played his final game of his career as well. Conklin scored 8 points, grabbed a rebound, dished out an assists, and recorded a steal in his final game in a High Point uniform. He hit two shoots from three point range in the game. Both seniors had good nights tonight; unfortunately, the Panthers did not win the game.
Coach Frizzell was humiliated about the loss as he stormed off the court following the game. We caught up with him a few hours later and he was very sad and angry about the performance. "I thought we were better than that! I thought we could put up a fight and not lose by 32! Apparently, we can't and we aren't that good at all! We suck! I feel really bad for the seniors on this team who played their final games. Alex Allen and Demon Conklin both had fine games tonight and great careers. It's a shame that the rest of the team played like crap and didn't give our seniors much a chance. I am tired of this underperforming..." Coach Frizzell went on ranting, but had nothing more worthwhile to say.
The High Point Panthers finish off the season with a 20-9 record and a 12-4 record in Big South Conference play. Coach Frizzell's first season must be considered a success as the Panthers did win the Big South Regular Season Championship as well as the Big South Conference Tournament Championship along with the trip to the NCAA Tournament, even if it did end in a 32 point rout by Duke.

Nice job landing Frazier. Looks like he is going to be a beast.
Watch out for the Dec 29th game against Sac State. The Hornets are a dangerous team! Yes, other teams seemed to not want hime for some reason, so I was able to pick him up. He was left over as the big schools passed over him. I had to rush through recruiting and was not able to post all I wanted to about it, but I think he was something like the #118 ranked recruit in the country. I was surprised. Now, he may make me stay at High Point another four years. I hope not, though. I want to maybe move on next year if I have another good season, but he make me come back if he is really good this season...
I'll be looking forward to playing your former CSU Hornets!

2004-2005 Season Preview
High Point, NC - The High Point Panthers come into the season looking to build upon last year's 20-9 effort in which they won the Big South Regular Season Championship, The Big South Tournament Championship, and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers were bounced by Duke in the first round of the Big Dance, but just an appearance in the tournament is quite an accomplishment for High Point.
Amid rumors that head coach James Frizzell may be leaving for a higher profile job following the season, the Panthers look to embark on a magical run this season. Coach Frizzell has refused to talk about other coaching positions, but has implied that he would leave if the opportunity presents itself and if it is a school he would like to coach at. Coach Frizzell is an alumni of West Virginia University and said that would be his dream job. That statement got fans in High Point nervous, but lets be honest; how long can you keep a successful coach around coaching at High Point in the Big South? The answer is not too long.
The Panthers will be led this year by incoming freshman Andre Frazier, who was signed by Coach Frizzell this offseason. Fraiser, a 4 star recruit, weighs in at 233 lbs. and is an imposing 7'1" with a long wingspan and a decent shot. He has even shown in practice he can hit the three pointer with some success. Frazier will be joined by Jarrod Freije and Michael Leonard in the backcourt. Freije, who will start at small forward, is a slasher and dasher, with great quickness and determination. He should be able to drive to the basket as he did last year before his season-ending injury. Michael Leonard will make the start at the power forward position for Coach Frizzell. He is not your prototypical power forward, as he is only 6'6" and 205 lbs. However, he has good quickness and can get past slower defenders using his speed. He can also dribble pretty well.
The frontcourt will be the same as last year with Gary Wilder starting at point guard and Damon Carlisle starting at shooting guard. Gary Wilder, a junior, is not a huge scoring threat, but does a good job of managing the game and setting up others for shots. Coach Frizzell hopes to utilize his abilities more this season as he really improved his game in the offseason, jumping from a 69 rating to a 76. Damon Carlisle, a senior, is a fantastic three point shooter. He only sank 33% of his threes last year, but expect him to have a better year shooting the three ball this year, as he has the potential to hit over 40% from three point range.
Forward Andre Dixon is probably the best bench player on the team and will get a lot of minutes at the power forward and center positions. He is 6'7", but an imposing 260 lbs. and should use his huge body to get good position. Vince Hodge and Ben Baker will fill in at both frontcourt positions and are pretty good players. Lakeith Danielson is a talented slasher and rebounder, but not much of a shooter. He will mostly play as a backup for Jarrod Freije at small forward. Daniel Edwards and Mandi Victor will get some minutes in the frontcourt, but not too many. Freshman William Anderson will probably not get many minutes, but may come in every now and then.
Incoming freshmen Mark Nichols, Christopher Brown, Antwuan Gross, and Lewis Collier were all reshirted this year. Coach Frizzell said that he felt it would be beneficial for them to get an extra year to work on their game. Coach Frizzell also had to cut the active roster down to 12 players, so he used the redshirts to cut the roster from 16 to 12 players.
Coach Frizzell talked about the upcoming season at his preseason press conference. "I think we can get another Big South Championship this season. I am really excited about this recruiting class. We have most of our key guys back this year, as well, so we have some experience. This team has 6 seniors on it and I think we can utilize that experience to our advantage. I am really excited about our upcoming season."
And with that, we are off! Now, it's almost time to go out and lay some up and head straight down to the action as the 2004-2005 season is almost here!!!

Panthers Beat Gaels 73-71 on Last Second Shot
New Rochelle, NY - The High Point Panthers were supposed to be better than last year's team as most of their talent came back as well as getting a good recruiting class. The Panthers showed they, indeed, are pretty good, as they went into New Rochelle, New York and beat the Iona Gaels on their home floor. Iona lost their first game of the season, but are pretty good in their own right as well.
Both team gutted it out in the first half with the High Point Panthers taking the early lead. The Iona Gaels came back, though, and took the lead into the locker room 40-36 in what had been a very wild and fast paced game. The Gaels came out of the locker room a little flat, letting the Panthers pass them up, but the Panthers could never get far ahead, as both teams seemed unable to get more than 5 or so points from each other. Panthers small forward Jarrod Freije hit a fade away 15 footer with 39 seconds left to go ahead 71-69. The Gaels would counter, however, and would score with just over 15 seconds remaining to tie the game at 71. That gave the Panthers one final chance to get a shot off to win the game. Following a timeout Coach Frizzell called with 10 seconds remaining, the Panthers sent newcomer Andre Fraizer off a screen and rolled him towards the basket on the right side. He received a pass from Ben Baker, who was in because of his shooting ability. Fraizer got the ball with a second left and was wide open. He sunk a 5 footer to win the game for the Panthers as they came away victorious 73-71.
Fraizer had a good game in his first game in a High Point uniform. He led the team in scoring his 16 points and also collected 12 rebounds as well as dishing out 2 assists. Coach Frizzell was impressed with the way Fraizer played. "He played great and I think he is going to be great for us this year," commented Coach Frizzell on Andre Fraizer. Fellow newcomer William Anderson did not get the same fortune as Fraizer. He scored on a midrange jumpshot early on and sunk 2 free throws, adding up to 4 points, but things got ugly for him late in the second half, as he jammed his thumb, resulting in a broken thumb. He is expected to miss 6 weeks.
Coach Frizzell was impressed with his team's play today. "Well, we really wanted to start off the season on a high note and I would say we definitely accomplished that. Iona has a really rowdy crowd and a pretty good team and we played well through the pressure. This is the farthest we've been from High Point besides the games at Ann Arbor and Buffalo, last year, and this was the first one of those we won, so I feel good about it. We took very good care of the basketball tonight, as well, and that was a problem we had last year. We only turned the ball over 4 times tonight. The three pointers were not falling tonight as we missed all 9 of our three points attempts, but we have some pretty decent shooters on this team, so I am not too worried about that. All in all, it was a great performance and a good indication we should be good this year."

I noticed last year that you get a ton of rebounds (a couple 50+ games in there), so with Frazier in there, you should get even more.

Yeah, we have been getting a lot of rebounds in this legacy. We have a very good rebounding team, even last year's team had a very good rebounding rating. Plus, we get a ton of offensive rebounds. I may need to lower the offensive rebounding slider at some point if the offensive rebounds get out of control. Sometimes last year, I would get games where I got like 15 offensive rebounds in a game, but those weren't too often. With Fraizer in, we should be dominant on the glasss.
I really think we can do really well this season and I can't wait to play some more!!!

***NOTE: I am raising half length from 13 minutes to 14 minutes. I feel my number of possessions has been okay, but it would be a bit more realistic playing another 2 minutes a game.***

Panthers Overwhelm Spartans 79-60
High Point, NC - The High Point Panthers pummeled their cross-town rivals at home in this affair, winning by 19. The Panthers got up on the UNC Greensboro Spartans early and never looked back. The Panthers were up 45-23 at halftime. The Panthers played much more conservatively in the second half as the Spartans got back within 19 as the final buzzer sounded and the Panthers won the game 79-60. The Panthers shot 51% in the game compared to the Spartans' 42%, which was the main difference maker in the game.
Coach Frizzell was pleased that his team beat the cross-town rival UNC Greensboro. "We played really well in the first half. We probably could have beat them by 40 points, as we were up by 32 at one point, but I felt we would show our opponents some respect as I told my kids to slow down the pace of the game and to take it easy. I also pulled most of my starters pretty early to give some of our hard-working bench players some more minutes. The one area I was concerned with tonight was turnovers. After turning the ball over just 4 times against Iona, we quadrupled that amount tonight, as we turned the basketball over 16 times. We must work on that."

Panthers Tame Wildcats 80-52
High Point, NC - The High Point Panthers continued their recent path of domination tonight, this time inflicted their pain on the Weber State Wildcats. For the Wildcats, it was their first game of the 2004-2005 season and they certainly got a wake up call. Both teams were neck and neck in the first half as both teams could not hit many shots. The Panthers went into halftime with a slim 4 point lead as the score was 30-26. In the second half, the Panthers lit up the scoreboard, as they put up half a century of points in the second half compared to the Wildcats, who just put up 26 points, the same total they had in the first half. The Panthers shot lights out in the second half, whereas the Wildcats played just as poorly as they did in the first half. The field goal percentage differential tells the tale of this game. High Point shot 52.2% in the game. Weber State shot just 36.1%.
Coach Frizzell was ecstatic about his team's latest performance. "We played great out there. We shot the ball really well and executed our offense to perfection. We also played pretty good defense as we held them to just 36% shooting. I know it was Weber State's first ballgame of the season and they might have been a little rusty, but I still think we were clearly the better team in this game. I am really looking forward to the rest of the non-conference schedule and Big South Conference play, because I think we can certainly turn some heads. We have that much talent."

With these new sliders, I really liked how the game flowed. On All-Conference, it was way, way too easy to just lob the ball into the post and my big guys would knock down every shot. Now, I actually have to run some offense and I really utilize the pick and roll a lot. Also, the computer is running their offense better as well. Before, the computer would basically make one pass and shoot, whether they were open or not. With these new sliders, the computer will pass the ball around and try to get an open shot, using up a lot of the shot clock and making the game flow a whole lot better. I am happy with them!

Panthers Upset Red Storm 63-54
New York, NY - The High Point Panthers were not expected to beat the St. John's Red Storm, but it would not have been a huge surprise if they did, as many people believe this High Point team is for real this year. The Panthers came out and delivered a defensive clinic to St. John's. The Panthers did not shoot the ball well at all, as they went a shocking 0/13 from three point range, but their defense was amazing as the Red Storm hardly ever got an uncontested shot off the whole night. The Panthers would hold the Red Storm to just 15 points in the first half as they took a 32-15 lead at halfime. The Panthers would go up by as much as 21 early in the second half before the Panthers seemed to catch the poor shooting bug from the Red Storm as they shot horribly the rest of the night, ending the game only shooting the ball 38.3%. Luckily, they made 17 free throws and St. John's shot worse at 34.4%, so the Panthers came away from New York with a fine victory on their resume.
Coach Frizzell was impressed with his team's performance. "Well, to come into Madison Square Garden and beat up on St. John's is quite a good showing in my opinion. St. John's may not be the best team in the world, but they are a pretty decent team out of the Big East Conference, so the win was not an easy one. I think our defense was amazing tonight. We played mostly man to man defense with a little 2-3 zone mixed in and it really seemed to frustrate St. John's. Our guys were flying to the ball and breaking up open shots. We even blocked 10 shots tonight. It was a great performance!"

Yeah, Fraizer is just so tall. He is at least 3 or 4 inches taller than everyone else since he is 7'1" and we are playing in a small conference. He did pretty good with the new slider settings, though we had a little more trouble getting him that ball in the post and he missed a few more shots, which is what I was looking for, since he was shooting like 80% in his first couple games. Now, I feel the sliders are fine, as I had a lot of fun on offense and defense in the last game.

Tigers Trounce Panthers 90-54
Columbia, MO - The Missouri Tigers absolutely destroyed the High Point Panthers in this one as they blew out the High Point Panthers 90-54. The Tigers dominated on both ends of the court as they shot 58% and hit 8 of 12 three pointers while holding the High Point Panthers to just 34% shooting. Missouri got a pretty good lead in the first half, but only held a 9 point edge at halftime with the score at 37-28. However, the Tigers outscored the Panthers 53-26 in the second half as they cruised to the huge home victory.
Coach Frizzell was disappointed with the victory, but did find some positive aspects of the game. "Well, this was the farthest west I have traveled as a head coach at High Point and we certainly showed that it took a toll on us. The bus ride was long over to Columbia and it probably took a toll on us. I felt we played well in the first half, as we were only behind by 9 at halftime. However, in the end, they just had too much talent and embarrassed us. We just couldn't play well for the whole game. Our defense was not very good in the second half, but they were hitting everything and there was nothing we could do about. It was a very tough loss."

where did you get the sliders at and surprising you have the shooting so low.
Plus I think you might be mistaken or I am confused. You said you are playing on the hardest level on All-American, but MOP is the hardest. So did you go from All-American to MOP or stated it correctly, but forgot there is a MOP. Either way no worries just confused myself, and glad to see you really like the sliders.
What happened too the legacy that your friend was playing and you doing the write ups?
Surprised to see how good your conference is doing and how close of a race. More shocking is that Winthrop and VMI aren't on the top of the list.

Yes, I may need to raise my shooting sliders a bit if things don't turn around. I like a nice, defensive game, but I don't want it to be impossible to score.

You are right and wrong. On 2K5 and up, MOP is the hardest level. However, on ESPN College Hoops 2K4, the levels are varsity, all-conference, and all-american. I am on all-american, so I am on the hardest difficulty level, though on newer college hoops games MOP is the hardest.

Well, that was not me.

Yeah, Winthrop did well last season, but not this season. VMI has been atrocious both years so far, surprisingly. Us, Radford, and NC A&M all look to be very good and it could turn out to be quite an interesting conference race.
Thanks for following!

I just want to update you all. I have been seriously thinking about picking up College Hoops 2K8 for the 360. I got my 360 back a few days ago and I really like NBA 2K8. I really did not like last year's College Hoops game, but I did not like NBA 2K7 either, though I still love 2K8. I will see as I will play some more demo games, but I think I very well may start up one with College Hoops 2K8.
