I'm playing someone on my friend's list. I've been playing him since 2k5 back in 05. We speak all the time and all that.

Anywho, we're playing a game in which I use my all offense (not 1 defensive star) team. Early in the game, I go down 21-7 b/c my QB couldn't hit the wide side of a barn and kept throwing to night train as if he was on my team. I think after the half I was down 28-7 and I jus decided to make my comeback. My generics weren't playing bad, jus terrible field position.

Anywho, my running game got going and I caught a few man to man breaks and got the score lead down to 35-21 at the end of the 3rd. I scored twice in the forth (never an kicked onside kick) with 23 seconds left, I scored to get within 1. I decided I wanted to go for 2. My reasoning? I made that big *** comeback, I didn't wanna throw it away (go hard or go home right?). I figured, if I was gonna lose, he was gonna have to stop me to do it. I came out in the formation I was gonna run, called a time out, sent him a message and told hi to strap up b/c I was going for it. I ran a stretch play to the obvious side of a jumbo formation. He had lem barney charged up into the backfield and over ran Gale. I go up 36-35...he late kicked the FG to win.

here's the insuing convo

----------------------- 2:14 pm -----------------------
Him: so much for the undefeated and the no legends on defense team
Him: why goin for 2 on a such a good game
Him: not sim...surprising for u
Me: Not sim?
Him: yeah everyone wuld've played for OT
Him: especially u came back
Me: Don't start that
Me: You've never seen teams go for the win at the end of a game?
Him: no sir
Him: they play for OT
Him: u had the momentum
Him: at 23 seconds left
Me: Exactly the reason to go for it
Me: Why come back jus to risk a loss in OT?
Me: Wow, you need to watch some football
Me: I can research and find atleast 10 games where teams went for it rather than play it safe
Me: If they got burned, they got burned
Him: ok
Him: and so they did
Him: but no coach goes for it when he comes back
Him: especially with momentum
Me: For you to say that's not "sim" is out of this world
Him: u had the freakin momentum
Him: brother I think I was playing football before u were born
Him: I've coached
Him: so i think I've seen my share of football
Me: Ok, you've seen football, so for you to say you never seen a team go for the win at the end of the game is a big stretch
Him: u had it all the D and O
Him: were playing for u
Him: in ur small box u call the world
Him: y go for it?
Him: u had the momentum
Me: Insults now
Me: Bye
Him: its a freakin video game
Him: u should know how it works
Him: u have the momentum u win
Him: no insults
Him: dont get offensive
Me: him: in ur small box u call the world
Me: Thank you for your time
Him: I'm talking about in ur box (room) thats what u would think is a good sim call
Him: but w/e it was a good game
----------------------- 2:22 pm -----------------------
Him: ur box as in your room
Him: dont get so sensitive on me now

Isn't this what we call a coaching decision?

I would have played for the tie. However I can totally see going for the win especially after a huge comeback. For 1 you have no defense (High chance that your generics will screw up.) 2. While you do have the great O, even that can be stopped. 3. I'd be more ****ed at my self for not stopping it, since I knew it was comming. Also since you did have the momentum why not use it? Isn't the game of football revolve around momentum (which is why I sometimes go for it on 4th and 2 when the momentum is in my opponets favor). So yeah it's totally sim to go for the win. Think about it if you miss chances are you lose. And then your the most sim player in the world!

That could be your problem. LOL

i see nothing wrong with it, chiefs did it 2 years ago except kicking a Field goal not a xtra point against raiders for a TD to win, thats as recent as ive seen it.

IVe seen teams go for the win
My high school team was int he state championship and scored with no time left instead of kicking the FG and having a tie they went for two and lost. I found it to be a really bad call considering it was high school kids and they would have been co state champions. No OT in high school. But it does happen in real life.

Oh and in my opinion there is no play call in the world that is unsim its all up to the coach. Anyone who cries about playc alling needs to have his diaper changed.

Well, according to him, its not sim and it doesn't happen in reality...gotta be kidding me

Its a coaching decision

Anyone think this is "unsim"

And umm, alex...I CHOOSE TO USE MY ALL OFFENSIVE TEAM? Ya know, b/c I wanted to play without defensive stars for the game

How is this unsim??? Many teams would go for it and many probably have done it before.

In my case, I would not have gone for it because I am a conservative player, but I totally understand the decision. Plus, why is he crying, he won anyways.

Going for 2 right from the get go is irritating, but not really unsim. I personally think it is being a *******z.
Going for two to win it, even if you haven't went for two at all before, it completely legit.

I'm a die hard Tampa fan stuck in Baltimore. I have a couple of friends that are Redskin fans. One my favorite "little moments" in football is simply 35-34 Tampa Bay going for 2 and the win with a dive play to Mike Alstott. Then there wass Boise State in the bowl game...statue of liberty..... Going for 2 is a big risk, and there are only a few coaches with the stones to do it. Your putting a game that could be yours later by playing safe at risk. That's just a coaching decision.

Really no OT? Were do you play? I wish we didnt have OT (We played College Rules OT)... lost my final HS game in OT by a point....The other team went for 2.

its not un-sim i remember the Texans doing it a couple years back against the Jaguars or the Panthers on a QB draw with D.Carr except they went for a touchdown instead of a field goal

thank you, i'm jus makin sure i'm not buggin out all stupid

well, he DOES complain about a lot of nothingness, so this doesnt surprise me, but for him to insult me and tell me that this doesnt happen, i have to question his knowledge of football and play calling

At that point I would have hoped you didn't go for two, but would have expected it. I would have went for the tie more than likely, but that is the kind of coach I am. No sim? Not in my books, just an aggressive play call.

It was a gutsy call....

I don't think it's unsim. I think it's kind of retarded.

However, there's a huge difference between you managing an online football team and a coach. They have people to answer to, they make, you know, real money, and they have thousands and thousands of fans watching, as well as owners etc. So I'd be a little conservative also in their position. You want to give your team a chance to win, and kicking the extra point keeps you in the game longer. It's a team sport, not just offense, because they don't get to just pick a bunch of legends and put them on offense. Someone on that (real) team picked the special teams players, the defensive players, etc. You can only offend so many people before they boot your *** out (in real football). However, given that it's just a game and you can walk away and say oh well, didn't make it, I'll win next time, then it's fine. Given the build of your team, I would say it was gutsy and wise because if it goes to overtime and he wins the flip, it's game over for you.

I think this post right here says it all. Along w/ all the "sim" rules, I think some forget it's just a video game. As a coach I might have went for the XP. But since it's a game and I suffer no consequences either way, I'll go for two.

With all this crying over what is sim, I don't know if I want to consider myself sim any longer.

So what if you go for 2 points. I don't care if it is your 1st touchdown of the game.
If it isn't taking advantage of a glitch people need to just play the game.

If someone is going for every 4th down and 10 then I can see people bringing up the sim issue, but come on. There is nothing wrong with going for a 2 point conversion at anytime.
You don't have to use only to tie games. Use it how you please.

Me? I would use it under strict circumstances, but I don't expect to play against myself online. So if my opponent plays different than me that makes the game more interesting.
I should be able to predict every aspect of the game.

There was nothing wrong with your decision. Keep doing what you do.
