You know how snowboarding and X-game video games are, Sega should implement something similar to that. i think that the whole ****troller would probably have to be dedicated to the dunk contest so that we can create any dunk our imagination allows us.i think there should be 3 cpu judges one to judge if you made the dunk, another creativity, and another flair. to judge creativity the cpu would have a record of some dunks that were done before in the game and actual dunk contest so that anyone trying to do just a 360 would not get a perfect score because that dunk has been done before. if one contestant does a 360 between the legs dunk then a person that does the same dunk after the person did it before them it would not get a perfect creativity score. to judge flair it would really be rating hangtime. some people can make a basic dunk look real good by the way they do it and because the cpu is limited it should be confined to hangtime. now the shoot button should be for the dunk once you are in the air the left analog is for 180s, 360s, 270s, and any other kind of degree turns. the right analog before the dunk would be for different self alley oops one off the glass, one self bounce pass, and another from a teammate, some of these can be done with style like a bounce pass between your legs while your back facing the basket or the same kind of pass that bounces off of the floor to the backboard. the right analog while u are in the air should be for double pumps, reverses, windmills, between the legs, behind the back, ant etc. the left analog would be divided left and right so you can choose to do either a right or left windmill, put the ball between your legs and/or behind your back from right to left or vice versa. You should also be able to choose if you want to dunk over something and what you will dunk over. there can be some unlockables in 24/7 mode also where u can unlock things to jump over like chairs, cars, people, and etc. Timing is essential a properly timed dunk will go in.

it would still be limited to a degree like if i wanted to touch the ball to the backboard spin and windmill, but it's a good start so sega should start this next year and then add more things as they progress. just makes sure that we create our own dunks from scratch.

i think to completely create ur dunk u should have a create a dunk feature before the actual dunk and the player's dunk rating will effect how he dunks if it's low he well hit the ground before he gets to dunk, if it is high but not high enough he will miss it

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!

I've always wanted a dunk contest on the games!! I would buy it in a heartbeat if they added this feature!

they should have a dunk contest put on the game. I really think that will seperate 2k completely from the rest.

How about making the "Dunk Competition" routine similar to a music game. You would pick your player...and how well he'll dunk will depend on how high his dunk rating is...AND also if he better off two feet (Jason Richardson), one foot, or equally good at both.
Then, you probably would pick the moves you want him to incorporate in the run up, in the air, and finally the dunk.
Place him on a position on the floor, have a 'speed' meter and 'accuracy' meter like in golf games.
The rest is timed button presses, just like in Parappa or Amplitude. How low to drop the ball for the reverse, how far back to extend the ball for the power jam, tomahawk, 360, 180, legs curled, between the legs, leaning sideways covering your eyes with your arm...It's all about timing!!! So each skill, depending on the difficulty will warrant more button presses...or maybe more accuracy on the run up.

If everything is perfect, you dunk the ball. If you mess up...your chances dwindle to a certain degree.

For example:
speed meter, if you go too fast, you'll jump 'into' the rim too much.

accuracy meter, if you miss it, you'll jump off the wrong leg, or when you're not in the 'right' position.

button presses, if you pull off the moves or not, and being perfect gets you the dunk.

you can make the dunk as easy (low score, but you'll have a score), or as hard (higher score, but you might mess up and risk your chance to advance) as you want.

Imagine this...
power jam: 15% margin of error on run up, 2 button presses to dunk.
180 dunk: 15% margin of error on run up, 2 button presses to dunk.
360 between the legs tomahawk slam: 5 % margin of error on run up, 7 button presses for a successful slam.

before this feature can be added we need some major revision.

I would do it like this:

Make a dunk creater, with like, 5 different steps, and then give the chances of you actually hitting it based on your rating. So, you can use Earl Boykins and try to go for a crazy dunk, but you wont make it. The set up would be like this:

Start:
-Run
Half Court
3 Point Line
Foul Line
Side Line
-Jog
Half Court
3 Point Line
Foul Line
Side Line
-Jump
Under Basket
Crease
Foul Line

And then based on what you pick, you have more options, like:

-Spin
360
180
-Placement
Under Legs
Behind Back
-Move
Windmill
Pump

etc, etc. Until you create the dunk you want. You can combine and stuff, and ofcourse there would be more options. But next to each one there would be a difficulty level, and then before you go it will give you the chances of you making it. Like: No Way, Probaly Not, Maybe, Most Likely, Definatly. And then it shows you go against the competitors, and you find out who wins.

I think thats the best way to do it, because its the only way you truely get to plan your own dunk without mashing buttons and stuff.

okay here it is. The dunk contest would be this each round you make the dunk before you dunk the ball, and it can be anything you want and then it would be a meter similar to free throw shooting or something like that.
Here is the format for creating a dunk.

you would have a green man and a half court where you would start off with these:
Pass/ No Pass-the man can go up holding the ball or receive a pass from himself or a teammate, it can either be a bounce pass, off the backboard or a lob. Here is the format:

Pass/No Pass

No Pass

Self Pass
Off the backboard
Bounce alley-oop
throw behind the back
Bounce into a backboard

Teammate Pass

Bounce pass( this can be any distance away from the rim)
Lob
Off the backboard

Angle/ Position on the court
This would be similar to an instant replay or custom camera view where you can start the dunk from anywhere on the court.

Turn or No turn
Here you dictate when, where, and how much your player turns, you can have no turn, a 90 degree turn, 180, 360, or a 540 (doubt anyone can execute that).

Ball movement
Here it would dictate where the ball would move from.
Behind the back( from left to right or right to left)
Between the legs( from right to left or left to right)
From hand to hand(from right to left or left to right)

Arm movement
You can dictate where the are placement would be for both arms at any angle you want, you can time when you want the movement to begin and stop or if you want it to stay a posre or not. this will help you create the following if you want:
Windmills
Pumps
Besides these you can put your arms anywhere you want

Dunking Hands
Here you can decide which hand you want to dunk with:
Right
Left
Both

Foot and Leg placement
Just like the arms you can dictate the leg movement and angles when you dunk. you can time when you want the movement to begin and stop or if you want it to stay a posre or not.

Jump
Either depending on the type of dunker you are or the dunk you can execute you can jump off of one or two feet:
Left
Right
Both

Dunking Props
Here is the thinks you can use for dunking:
Teammate(s)-Here you can dunk over a teammate or a couple of teammates.
Object- here you can dunk over an object like a chair, an announce table, a mascot.
Two balls-Here you can dunk with two balls
Backboard/ Rim- Here you can grab the rim with one hand and dunk with the other. You can touch the ball with the backboard before you dunk it while in the air, or you can have the ball lodged between the rim and backboard and jump and pick it off and execute the dunk.

Now for this part should not be as long as the shootout create a dunk was or it should at least be more presentable and give you more control such as at what point in the air you start executing the move, what point do you stop if you do, how you should jump, and etc.

Now for the execution part. There would be three intersecting meters that go up and down, one horizontal _, one vertical |, and one diagonal \. the horizontal would be the dunking accuracy the closer it is to the center the more likely the dunk will go in. The vertical meter flair, the closer the ball is to the center the more likely the dunk has just the right vertical, if it is farther away from the midpoint either higher or lower the vertical would be high for high and low for lower. The diagonal would measure would be move accuracy, the closer it is to the center the more likely the move would be executed before you put the ball through the basket. The meter would go fast depending on the player's athleticism. If it is not as high the meter would go super fast, if the athleticism is good it would go fast, and if the athleticism is high for dunking it would go at a medium fast pace. This would be done before the dunk is executed and then you run to the rim and press the shoot button, you press it again once your hand is near the rim to follow through for the dunk.

Creativity would be measured like this the game would have a memory of every dunk you, another user, or the cpu has executed, if the dunk has been done before then you will not get as high as a rating. This would also have all the dunks from the real dunk contests as well.

If anyone has any questions or don't understand this let me know. What does everyone think of this idea?

I like it. I like it a lot. I'd love to see it in next year's game.
