((I know this isn't b-ball related, but dammit i've been waiting for a 2K boxing game since i played Knockout Kings the first time!))

2K Sports has announced its latest game franchise - Don King presents: Prizefighter. As you'd imagine, the game is a boxing simulation which promises to the most realistic in the boxing genre to date. It's scheduled for a release in Spring 2008 and developed by the guys who made the Rocky games for Xbox and PS2. Unfortunately for PS3 owners, this new franchise is only available on Xbox 360, Wii and DS. wow...:(

PRESS RELEASE

Don King Presents: Prizefighter brings an innovative feature set and story line to set the standard in boxing video games

2K Sports, the sports publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), today announced the spring 2008 release of Don King Presents: Prizefighter, the most realistic boxing video game simulation, for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Nintendo’s Wii™ home video game console and Nintendo’s DS™ portable system. This in-depth, documentary-style title will provide the deepest, most authentic and entertaining experience ever seen in a boxing video game.

“The combination of real-life fight scenarios, story-driven gameplay and photo-realistic graphics will set this title apart from the competition,” said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. “Our goal has always been to deliver the most engaging and realistic titles, and Don King Presents: Prizefighter will exceed these expectations. Based on the game’s innovative features and high-profile fighters, this title will be a ‘must have’ for any sports gamer.”

"In all my years working in professional boxing, I have never seen anything come as close to recreating the thrill, the intensity, the courage and the spectacle of the sport," said legendary boxing promoter Don King. "Don King Presents: Prizefighter is more than a game -- it is a glimpse at what life is like in and out of the ring for these incredible athletes."

Developed by Venom Games, the 2K studio that brought Rocky and Rocky Legends to the Xbox and PlayStation 2, Don King Presents: Prizefighter will bring the realism of live action match-ups and the true tactics of the sweet science together for the first time. More than just a night at the fights - players will be responsible for building a career by overcoming adversity, avoiding temptation, and balancing their commitments to train and promote, all while focusing on the goal of ultimately winning and defending the title belt. The story will be told by a revolutionary sports documentary-style narrative never before seen in a video game.

Don King Presents: Prizefighter will be available in spring 2008 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Nintendo’s Wii™ home video game console and Nintendo’s DS portable system, leveraging the unique hardware features of each platform.

I already knew the game would be developed by the folks who made the Rocky series, and that alone doesn't have me very excited. While the Rocky games weren't terrible, they were far from realistic. Maybe the 2K Sports brand will assist the developer with a true-to-life style, but who knows? I was hoping that Visual Concepts would be the developer of choice.

Yeah after i read that it was made by them i started feeling some doubts, but i know 2K won't let us down man... Fight Night Round 3 was pretty fun, and i doubt 2K would release a boxing game that isn't on par, if not better, than that...

Let us all keep our fingers crossed..

yeah

i always hoped 2k would do a boxing game!!!!!!!!!

woooooo im excited,

and the rocky games were brilliant, the best at the time, a mile better than knockout kings and imo better than FNR1 because that game had a great control system, but flawed multiplayer.....and to this day it still had flawed multiplayer.

EA: 'i know let put easy to do, overpowerful haymakers in the game so it totally ruins the whole point of boxing......yay!!!!'

I CANT WAIT.

FN:R3 was really good though, no doubt... not only did it look incredible( so good that i'm thinking about getting it for the PS3 since i already beat it/traded it in for the 360) but the controls were on point too... fighting with the analogs were a breeze, especially with the bobbing and weaving... 2K has no choice but to implement the same, if not an easier, way of BnW, parrying and punching for it not to feel clunky....

and i hope to GOD they add a bunch of guys in there.... just like how they added O.J. to APF 2K8 they should SOMEHOW get Tyson and put him in there...everyone would like play as a classic Tyson...******, i know i'm not the only person who used to create him every now and then :-\

im sure it will be announced for ps3 before its release next year.

and while i agree fnr3 was a GREAT game, the gameplay was massively flawed, as both online and offline CPU took advatnage of many cheeses.

haymakers and special punches were simpyl too powerful, and even my bro who usualy destroys people who use these got so annoyed wsith the game, ebcause it just became a dodge haymaker, counter hook......repeat about 100 times and then you win. and every now and again he would get hit and most probably go down,

tell em how that makes the gameplay realistic and fun.

graphics, controls, features, CAB, career etc. were all great, but that flaw killed the game.

if 2k come out and do what they say (make A SIM) then these fault wont be in the game, because in real life overagressive power punches simply dont make it against any fighter with decent technique

this game will be great if they do the following

-Current Superstars, no old timer's like Ali, Frazier etc. I want to see a huge list of current boxers Codrington, Bika, Max Alexander, Pretty Boy..etc.

-Let VC do the character models PLEASE...they always have great graphic engines

-Better presentation then FNR3

-Steal FNR3's analog fighting system

hahaha and once that forum opens up we'll have threads asking;

"WHY ISNT MIKE TYSON IN THIS GAME?"

haha aslong as the game has tyson, mayweather, pacquiao and ivan drago I'll buy it
