I just read the update on the website and it mentions that this game will be for the 360, Wii, and DS. But, where is the PS3 version? Or did I read something wrong...?

I read that they won't be making this game for Playstation 3. I guess those that don't have 360's better go out and get one!

So whats the deal?
Is it officially not going to be on PS3 or is it going to be some delayed thing? I never heard any of this sony doesn't allow any other third party boxing game crap before...
Ive been looking forward to a true boxing sim for years...Ive had a terrible experience with Microsoft and refuse to buy any of their products...It will really suck if i have to pass up on this...

I don't blame 2K for not making it for PS3 one bit. PS3 is by far the most expensive console to develop for and has the lowest install base. In over a year only 1 or 2 games have sold more than 1 million copies on the system.
To be honest I'm not sure why any 3rd party developers keep making games for PS3 when they sell badly and are so costly and time consuming to make.

Yeah, alot of developers dont wanna develop for the PS3 anymore. They all lose money in the end.

The problem is that PS3 isnt selling well. If they arent selling well, why target that platform? Xbox and Wii have very strong sales. Its smart on their part. Blame the PS3 for having a horrible launch.

False, since the last price cut the PS3 has outsold the 360 on a weekly basis. And some developers have shown that the PS3 can be programmed for in a timely basis. Look at Call of Duty 4 by Infinity Ward, Need for Speed Prostreet and Burnout Paradise by EA (both were developed with the PS3 as lead platform), or Assassin's Creed by Ubisoft.
Developer continue to proof that with the right effort, they can make great multiplatform games for the PS3. And the PS3's sales have greatly picked up since mid_August...
I personally see no excuse for not having this game on the PS3. 2K has shown in the past that they can develop games for the PS3 (MLB 2K7, NBA 2K8, APF), why not this one?

I could care less about NPD numbers. I could really care less about the debate over which console is selling better than the others. But, for people to continue to assume that the PS3 is selling poorly simply because it got off to a slow start is nonsense...
Folks don't remember for some reason, but the PS2 was in the exact same position as the PS3 is today one year into its lifespan. Seven years later the PS2 is the best selling entertainment hardware in history (from what I've heard).
Just because it doesn't have the numbers of total units of the other consoles doesn't mean it is selling poorly...

I think 2K was disappointed in the sales of their sports games on PS3. They will probably release this game somewhere in the future once the PS3 user base has increased some more. Also, the PS3 is a real $%#& to program on. It would probably take almost twice as long to make the PS3 version from the ground up. 2K may not want to invest the money into doing that right now.

It's outsold the XBox 360 in Europe and Japan, but the PS3 is being destroyed in the U.s. by a much larger margin. Because this is a new IP, 2K doesn't want to release it on too many systems.

No one is assuming anything, they're facts. I'm not trying to bash the PS3, just shedding light as to MAYBE why they're not releasing on the PS3.
Heck I may buy a PS3 myself if GT5 turns out to be good, but right now it is what it is. Doesn't matter to publishers how long the system has been out, all that matters is how many people have it in their hands right now. By that standard the PS3 is way behind. It's expensive nowadays to produce videogames, so this could very well be a decision simply to increase profit margins. Which if you look at things from a business perspective you have to respect that decision.

they probably will release the game on ps3 eventually
i guess the state of ps3 right now in north america is pretty bad, and im assuming this game will sell the most in north america,
but seems like the ps3 is picking up steam though after the price drop, but still getting beaten by the 360 in north america, but looks like its selling more everywhere else around the world, according to vgchartz, so its just a matter of time,
and wii and ds will always get their titles, they sell one of those systems every 5 - 10 sec or something like that.

this is why there will be no boxing on PS3
the sales of the ps3 don't compare with the sales for any other system.
1. Its a new game so its also a new fan base
2. You want to go after the largest possible pool of people, guess what that means 360, wii and DS.
3. 9/10 exclusive 3rd party game companies are now making the same games for the 360. because they are losing money on games because there isnt a large enough amount of people out there with a ps3
4. This is about making money and the money is in the wii and 360 right now im sorry ps3 fowners its just the truth. As of right now you own the lesser of the three systems when it comes to game titles and thats the way it is.

The 360 was also out a little over a year before the PS3 came out. I have the Wii, PS3, and XBOX360. I think the PS3 is a better system.

:) Don't take what I say as venom. As I stated, I could care less about all that. But, as you stated, NPD numbers are fact. But that fact doesn't mean that the PS3 is selling poorly. It simply shows that it hasn't sold as much as the 360 or the Wii.
For instance, the PSP is consider by some consumers to be a failure simply because it is trailing the DS in sales. Yet if you look at the numbers (I think it is 15 or 20 million) it clearly is not a failure.
For barely over a year old, and with the rocky start that it had, I don't see the PS3 as a failure. It just simply hasn't sold as much as the 360 or Wii...

The PS3 is a DAMN good system, usually the ones who beg to differ are the ones who've never played it....
