I peronally just hope the game is not dependent on "Legends"

I love the fighters from the past...

but we do watch present day boxing and I'd like to see more fighters from the past 10-15 years rather than the past 50 years

1. 2K's CAP system has sucked for every single game, so I really hope the roster is extensive.

2. lol at the fact Margarito is on no ones list considering how hyped he's been by Arum and some sports writers.

A couple of names I would love to see in addition to those on Don Kings roster:

Light Heavyweight

Tarver

Super Middle

I think 2k needs to team up with espn and let espn tell them what needs to be in the game..To make this game be a sim-fighter and teh most realistic and closest to real boxing..They need to do what they did what 2k5 and make it a complete fighter with teh little details and all the things that make boxing a sport..

the only thing close could be HBO or showtime or what ever, but they cant do it with ESPN because EA paid ESPN the right to use their name, for the next 15 years...

becasue Hatton got bent over by Mayweather I think that he should not be in the game, it was proven that he would not be a top fighter in the US.

Money Mayweather should get the cover.

As an Australian, it's about bloody time they had at least 1 Aussie to represent in a decent boxing game.

Jeff Fenech
Barry Michaels
Lester Eliis
Bob Mirovic "lol"
Johnny Famechon
Lionel Rose
Anthony Mundine "jnr or snr"
Danny Green
Kostya Tszyu
Vic Darchinyan
Shannon Briggs
Brad Pitt
etc....

I really don't care who gets in from this lot, but for the love of decent marketing, make it happen.

Nonsense. Just because Hatton lost to the best p4p fighter on the planet doesn't make him a bad fighter and when since did you have to be a top fighter in America to be one of the best? Joe Calzaghe is testament to that.

Boxing is a world wide sport and not exclusive to Americans. For what it's worth I don't remember Ricky being beaten over there in his previous six fights in the states before the Mayweather one so he's obviously done something right in his previous fights.

Hopefully, 2K can bring a legitimate "sim" boxing experience... it would be awesome if there could be a "trainer/cornerman" mode, where you simply set training regimen and fight strategies, but let the AI control your fighter in the actual fight (sort of like how you play as the GM in the "Association" mode in NBA 2K).

Here's hoping that they incorporate a deep CAP feature, since no roster of fighters, no matter how extensive, will ever make everybody happy... inevitably, somebody's favourite fighter will be left out.

It would also be great if the career mode would have the option to leave out legends from the fight cards... one annoying thing about playing career mode in EA's Fight Night is that say, when you're using a created player, it totally ruins the realism and immersion when you go up against a long dead fighter from 3 decades ago. Going up against real-life legends is great in a "fantasy" setting, but is out of place in a simulation that's supposed to mirror current boxing.

Anyway, here's my wish list for the roster (the ordering of the names isn't supposed to mean anything, I just list them as they come to mind):

Current Fighters (i.e., fighters who have been active in the last 18 months)

Bantamweight/Junior Featherweight/Featherweight
- Gerry Penalosa
- Hozumi Hasegawa
- Daniel Ponce De Leon
- Veerapol Sahaprom
- Israel Vazquez
- Steve Molitor
- Rafael Marquez
- Chris John
- Jorge Linares

Junior Lightweight/Lightweight
- Manny Pacquiao
- Juan Manuel Marquez
- Joan Guzman
- Edwin Valero
- Jorge Barrios
- Juan Diaz
- David Diaz
- Joel Casamayor
- Jose Armando Santa Cruz
- Zahir Raheem

Junior Welterweight/Welterweight
- Ricky Hatton
- Paul Malignaggi
- Gavin Rees
- Floyd Mayweather Jr.
- Miguel Cotto
- Antonio Margarito
- Paul Williams
- Shane Mosley
- Zab Judah
- Kermit Cintron

Junior Middleweight/Middleweight
- Oscar de la Hoya
- Vernon Forrest
- Roman Karmazin
- Kelly Pavlik
- Winky Wright
- Jermain Taylor
- Cory Spinks

Super Middleweight/Light Heavyweight
- Joe Calzaghe
- Mikkel Kessler
- Jeff Lacy
- Bernard Hopkins
- Glen Johnson
- Clinton Woods
- Antonio Tarver
- Chad Dawson

Cruiserweight/Heavyweight
- Darnell Wilson
- David Haye
- Sam Peter
- Wladimir Klitschko
- Nikolai Valuev
- Sultan Ibragimov

Legends/Retired Fighters

The usual suspects from the Golden Age of Heavyweight Boxing are bound to show up (Ali, Frazier, Joe Louis, Foreman, etc.) but I'd like to see some of the less popular but nonetheless significant fighters make an appearance: Jack Dempsey, Gabriel "Flash" Elorde, Tommy Hearns, Mike Tyson...

They need to team up with HBO and put something together. The problem with that is will Don King work with the people of HBO to put something together. If they really want to make a big splash they need to go all out. They current boxers, commentary from Jim Lampley, Merchant, and Steward, and ring intros by Michael Buffer.

sampsonthestrong
January 2nd, 2008, 01:36 PM
^^I totally agree. But I think King has a better relationship with Showtime at this point. I think they should go for one of those broadcast teams and add realism to the commentary. I really hope they go all out to make the game as real as possble.

TDEEZY58
January 2nd, 2008, 05:25 PM
Either way they need someone that's currently on TV. I'm not the biggest fan of Showtime but at a minimum they need to try to get the HBO Cast and if they fail, explain to fans what happened. To many times they just throw a game together and expect people to buy because its the only game out there. That's the trap EA fell into with fight night. 2K wasn't making a boxing game and they were the only ones so they put whatever they wanted in the game.

I'd like to see Floyd Mayweather in it, but it probably won't happen because he'll price himself to high.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Klitschko brothers in it. It would be interesting to have to fight both of them in a career mode.

As for other of today's fighers,
Miguel Cotto
Ricky Hatton
Paul Williams
Edison Miranda
Israel Vazquez
Rafael Marquez
Manny Pacquiao
Chad Dawson
Joe Calzaghe
Anthony & Lamont Peterson
Andre Berto

Juan Manuel Marquez

As for the ol' schoolers.
Aaron Pryor (Pryor gets NO love in these games! what's up with that?)
Tommy Hearns (another one who gets no love in video games!)
Wilfred Benitez (he gets no love either!)
Larry Holmes
Dwight Braxton (Qawi)
Michael Spinks
Marvin Hagler
George Foreman
Riddick Bowe
Floyd Patterson
Prince Naseem Hamed (Stop laughing! can you imagine Hamed vs. Pacquiao?)

I have so many fighters that I would love to see in the game from Salvador Sanchez, and Aaron Pryor, to Andy Lee and Chad Dawson etc, so the list is really pointless.

So what I am going to hope for the most is a really fantastic create a boxer feature. It is very important to me that the C.A.B.'s I create become part of the roster and career mode for the relevant weight divisions.

For me to be really pleased with the create a boxer feature it will need to include much more than just the ability to give somebody a big nose or a pointy chin. The ability to set a skill-level for each fighter, from tomato can to champion is imperitive.

I would like to be able to determine in the creation process how much punching a fighter does over the course of a fight, and when he is most dangerous in doing so. Giving me the ability to make a fighter dangerous early in a fight, late in a fight, or a well-conditioned consistant threat.

I want the ability to set an average ratio for defense! I don't want every fighter getting hit with 60 to 80 percent of all the punches I throw like in the fight night garbage. I want to create tendencies for my fighters and not just the the footwork and blocking styles. All the usual stuff in boxing like in-fighting, stick and move, long-range, headhunting vs bodypunching, quicker but less powerful punching, loading-up looking for a k.o. etc.

The above stuff is really a must for me. I would be thrilled beyond my wildest dreams if we can determine personality types that could influence factors ranging from how much of an *** someone acts like on the way to the ring, or how calm someone seems in the staredown. If I can creat a talented fighter that is a headcase prone to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory like Golota...that would be too cool. Creating a psyche that would drive a fighter into a temporary retirement like Trinidad, or a permanent one like Hamed would be wild.

List taken from the dream roster thread, plus addons of my own. Parts in bold who I really want to see. I know I'm forgetting a lot of people, but it's all I could think of for now.

But the parts in bold, especially all those at welterweight and middleweight, would be a dream to play as. And 2k needs to actually put them in the right weight divisions like Super Middle and not just middle. Reason why I didn't highlight SRR and SRL and co at Middle was because they were already in welter.

Though, I highlighted Bernard Hopkins twice and Floyd twice because I felt they fought differently at those weight classes. Mayweather at Jr.Lightweight/Lightweight was a lot more offensive minded, while he is more defense minded at welter.

edit: DAH. I just realized I forgot some people like Riddick Bowe and Sonny Liston. So don't critize if I forgot people.

I could go on and on with my list; I also would think it hard to get most of these but I wouldn't mind being surprised. I agree also the idea of teaming up with HBO could make for a priceless experience.
