I'm a boxing writer and I heard through a source two fighters that will be in the game. Rumors of the game have been going on for a while now, and they even held a party late last winter/early spring for the game at the Hard Rock here in New York.

My source told me two fighters that will be in the game...

Andre Berto
Steve Cunningham

Now, it doesn't look that way, but this says alot. Cunningham is not a popular fighter at all. He has a title, but has never been seen on American TV and doesn't have many fans. The fact that he is in means that they're making a push at having either alot of fighters, or are really spreading out the talent pool. Plus, it looks like they're really taking advantage of their relationship with Don King, who Cunningham fights for.

Berto is with a different promoter, so this proves that they aren't exclusively working with Don King fighters.

My source also saw the photo of the in-game fighters. He said it looks FLAWLESS!!!

Also. I believe the Showtime commentating crew might be used.

Not certain though because Showtime is supposed to have some boxing game for the Wii. It could be the same game. My source mentioned Showtime though.

Kelly Pavlik is for sure in the game according to Maxboxing.com....He is a Bob Arum fighter so the fighters definitly arent going to be from just Don King......Wonder how many Golden Boy fighters might be in there.....I wonder if the fighters themselves have to split that money with their promoters....do they share advertising revenue?

Yeah, Pavlik had been comfirmed for a while now. It would be nice to see some Golden Boy fighters in there, and Top Rank as well. But do we really want John Ruiz in a video game? YIKES!

I don't think it's the same game because the one for the Wii is called Showtime Championship Boxing and it's supposed to be released next week i think. I saw a video of it on youtube and it looks like a cartoon, and it showed fictional boxers in the video, but maybe the Showtime crew signed on to work on 2K's boxing game also. I'd rather have HBO's crew in this game, but either one will do. As long as it ain't Big Tigger, i'll be happy!

Hey, maybe they should bring back Marv Albert & Ferdie Pacheco or Gil Clancy & Tim Ryan to broadcast the fights in this game! Now that would be SWEET!

Because of EA Sports Chicago going down, thanks to Def Jam Vendetta basically bankrupting the whole operation overthere, we might not even have EA Sports' Fight Night to compete with this game.

That sucks, because a little competition would be nice.

I'm just curious as to see the controls for the game. EA was on the right track with the joystick.

I wonder if I can get hired as a consultant for this game!

I don't know Cunningham, but Berto is one of the most exciting young fighters there is out there, so that's good news

But a good roster of boxers is worthless if the gameplay sucks ... let's hope they deliver on that front

Man, King has some of the worst heavyweights in the history of the sport right now! Ray Austin? Kevin McBride? Larry Donald? Andrew Golata? John Ruiz? Shannon Briggs? DAMN!

Has the HW division ever been in this bad a shape?

After Jack Dempsey/Gene Tunney until Joe Louis, the heavyweights were pretty weak.

After Rocky Marciano, the heavyweights were pretty weak.

It happens alot. Even the late 80's when Tyson was at his peak, the Heavyweights were pretty weak.

I just want 10 CURRENT fighters per division. I want them to be good too. I'm sick and tired of fighting a no-name guy on fight night for the world title after wiping the floor with Muhammed Ali and his 12-7 record. It's cool to have real fighters in the game, but if they provide nothing, then they might as well be a nobody. So when you're playing career mode, it's just your fighter(if he isn't created) fighting a bunch of nobodies.

you're wrong and don't know what you're talking about if you believe that statement you wrote.................
ali, foreman, frazier, norton, shavers, lyle, jerry quarry, jimmy ellis, floyd patterson, ingemar johannson, george chuvalo, eddie machen, sonny liston, joey maxim, jimmy young.... I can go on.all were either champions are solid challengers, any of these guys could have been a champion in weaker eras....................
get your facts straight before you make blind comments. the heavyweight division wasn't considered "weak" until after ali retired and holmes became the dominant champion of the era after...................
marciano was in a weak era, he fought older fightes past their prime. he never got the opportunity to face an elite fighter in their prime......................
marciano was good but his time wasn't the be all end all of the heavyweight division......................
