Interview with Senior ESPN Writer Andy Katz.

Katz-Coach Dezaron. Its been 5 yrs what happened. Last I heard your name your where a young head coach starting out coaching at The Citadel?

Dezaron-Well Andy its a really long story and I don't really want to go into it(my legacy got deleted).

Katz-Okay so whats been happening the last 5 yrs, if it wasn't for your run last year in the NCAA's, I don't know if your legacy would've been reborn.

Dezaron-Yeah thats the problem with you writers, most of you are so east coast bias and only care about the big programs that play in the ACC,SEC,Big 10,Big 12,PAC-10. You forget there are some amazing schools and amazing coaches out there.

Katz-Well this is your interview would you like to enlighten us on some of these great schools.

Dezaron-Well thanks Andy I would. First off you have Coach Dean he is currently at UC Riverside and is doing a amazing job. I am a huge fan and generally try and catch all his games on ESPN U. Also I have been following A. Sanders at Texas State,Jamar Simmons at Winston-Salem State,M. Jones at Central Arkansas,J. Dano at North Flordia,Nate Bell at South Carolina Upstate and A. Ryan at Miami of Ohio.

Katz-Ryan? Wasn't he the coach who had the big scandal at Princeton?

Dezaron-That was just a total misunderstanding, and I was very happy to see that the university of Miami of Ohio was able to undestand that.

Katz-Okay well thanks for the info on your fellow coaches, I will try and see what we can do here at ESPN to make sure more people know about them and you. So with that said lets get back to you and your past.

Dezaron-Okay well like mentioned before, well in the mist of a great season at The Citadel in which I was well on my way to leading the Bulldogs to a 20 win season and a spot in the tourney, my path was derailed. So I took some time off from coaching until I was able to square things up in my life and took a job at Texas Southern. However my stay was short lived and after 2 yrs I was offered a job that I thought would never be able to be obtained in my life time. A head coaching job at Boise State University.

Katz-BSU. Isn't that the amazing football school from the WAC?

Dezaron-Yeas Andy you are correct Boise State has made a name for themselves as a mid major powerhouse in football, but if you will allow yourself to sit in listen you will see that I have now turned my beloved Broncos into a powerhouse in basketball as well.

Katz-Sorry coach, please continue.

Dezaron-Well believe it or not its been 3 yrs now since I have come to BSU and even though we made it to 2 straight NCAA appearences it wasn't until our Elite 8 appearence last year that brought us national attention.

Katz-Yes again I must apologize that was a amazing run you had, I can't believe it you only lost by 1 point to Indiana who ended up winning it all!!!

Dezaron-Thanks for the reminder Andy, I would prefer to stop living in the past though and talk about the future of this program.

Katz-Okay got it coach. But one last question, after last years showing, you were offered some jobs at some pretty big programs. (Wake Forrest,Missouri,San Diego St.) How did you turn them down?

Dezaron-Well you see Andy I couldn't let my team down, as you will soon find out I have a great group of players and I really feel this year we can make it to the Final Four.

Katz-Really?? Final Four?? What are your other goals this year Coach??

Dezaron-Besides a Final Four.I would love to assemble a top 20 recruiting class, get Boise State into the top 25 and hopefully get a couple of All American players to see that BSU is a up and coming program that they would love to be a part of.

Katz-Nice those are some sweet goals. Well coach I am sorry about what has happened in your life, but I am happy to see that you have made it back. I am looking forward to reading about your team next year and I will definetly be following your season and hopefully we can sit down and do this again after your win in the Final Four.

Dezaron-Thanks Andy for the support.

WE GO LIVE TO A LOCAL PRESS CONFERENCE IN BOISE IDAHO

Coach Dezron-Thank you everyone for coming. I know you have alot of questions about this upcoming year, my coaching staff, the team, recruiting, ect.. So let me jump right in and let you all know whats happening.

1)Our goals this year is a Final Four appearence, a top 25 showing, and a All American recruit signing here in Boise. To obtain these goals we have been following some amazing talent over the last 3 yrs here and my staff and I feel like we have a very good chance of finally bringing that All American player to the campus here at Boise State. We also really like our schedule, I will give a full breakdown of the schedule later but some games I would like to share about that I feel will help us get a Top 25 showing and help make us ready to make that run at the Final Four.#7 Washington,#8 UNLV, #9 Louisville. Hopefully with some victories over top quality teams like these the coaches and media will see that we are a Top 25 team.

Reporter-Coach I am new to Boise and don't know much about you other then what I read in the Andy Katz article, could you update me on you and your coaching staff.

Dezaron-No problem. Well over the last 5 yrs I have compiled a 132-53 record. I have had several 20 win season, tournament appearence a Elite 8 showing, I have brought in world recruits,4* players, a 3* BB from Idaho and several other accomplishments.
I currently am a B overall, B+ OFF, B- DEF, B- Scout,A+ Charisma, C-DIS

My Staff is
Calivin HolBrook who is in his 1st yr at Boise. He is a B- Overall and brings with him a B+ in Offense and a A- in Defense. He will bring some amazing talents to our play and help us take that next step. Its also nice that he is young(30) and has alot of Ambition (B+) so I know he desires to use his time hear to earn his own head coaching job.

I held over Lee Winston. Lee doesn't help much when it comes to the play on the court, but he is a amazing recruiter(A-) and helps make up for the lack of discipline I have(B)

Reporter-You mentioned recruiting and some of your earlier signings, when do we get to see the roster?

Dezaron. Well I have to go for now, but I will have a roster update for you tomorrow.
Thats all the time, Thanks for coming.....

Cincy-
My legacy got deleted :(, so I had been playing another legacy where I had started out as Texas Southeren and now currently at Boise State. So rather then start over at The Citadel, I deciced to just start writing about my legacy at Boise St. I noticed you posted that you are currently playing as Boise State against a friend who is Hawaii. You will have to let me know how that goes. I am also trying to keep up with Coach Ryan at Miami of Ohio you are doing a great job.

Well hopefully you make the trips up, if not maybe we can catch up after a Fresno game. With Boise States past ties to the Big West though, don't be surprised to see us at some of your fellow rivals. I am not sure my team is ready for the beat down that you would give me at Riverside :)

It was tough, I actually started out with Haynes in my starting 5 but he doesn't ever seem to have big games for me. Granger does and once I get the games entered from my first 10 you will see Granger has been huge for me. There are times though that because of Akpans quickness, I have gone Akpan at SG with Hayes at SF, Granger at PF and Haynes at C. This still gave me Shannon and Jackson off the bench. It was a interesting game. I am not sure I could play that way the whole year, because I like to throw up the 3's to much. lol

Local Fan arrested outside Taco Bell Arena after demanding to see this years Schedule.

Not sure what exactly went down, but do to a computer glitch, the Broncos schedule was not posted yet 2 homes games have already been played. Coach Dezaron is very upset because how exactly are they expected to have huge home crowds if nobody even knows the Broncos are playing. As far as the fan well reporter Lewis Scott had this to report after a visit at the local jail.

Lewis-According to the fan who will only answer to the name Cincy, claims he was upset because he missed out on his chance for 2 free Bean and Cheese Burritos in the home win promo at the arena, so in protest lit a bag of refried beans on fire in front of the arena's ticket window.

After hearing the story, I just really felt it was my job to make sure the schedule got reported Lewis.

Legends Classic Championship Game

This game features to undefeated teams. Both Boise State and Alabama enter at 4-0, Coach Dezaron feels this will be a great chance to see if his team can hang with the big boys, or if last season was just a fluke. Wow a tight battle all night but its the Broncos who will go home with the hardware. The Broncos lost leading scorer A. Akpan to early foul troulbe but called on big man J. Granger for some offense and he delivered. Final Score 80-74

KEY GAME STATS

BSU
Granger-21 pts 4 reb
Mason-15 pts 4 reb
Rothbart-6pts 7 reb

ALABAMA
T. Robertson-28pts

Akpan scored 8 pts but was plague with foul trouble all night, the Broncos will need him at his best as they now head to San Diego to take on the Aztecs.

BRONCOS SUFFER 1ST LOSS OF THE SEASON

The Broncos came out sluggish after a long week, and a draining win over Alabama, no one seemed to want to step up and help Akpan put some points on the board. Final Score 68-70

KEY GAME STATS

BSU
Akpan-23 pts 8 reb
Granger/Hayes/Shannon/Haynes-Combined for 15pts 11 reb

San Diego State
Avery-16 pts
Ball-14 pts
Skipworth-13pts

This was a emotional game for Coach Dezaron as the Aztecs had offered him a job last year, so it was a tough pill to swallow after the loss. He was very disappointed in the 4 Horsemen(Granger/Hayes/Shannon/Haynes)

The Broncos head home to face Eastern Washington.

This was pretty much no contest as the Broncos enter the game at 5-1 vs the Eagles who where 0-6. Final Score 87-54

KEY GAME STATS

Rothbart-16pts
Akpan-15 pts

Thanks for the support. I actually grew up in Boise, but moved to Lewiston for 2 yrs(01-02) then back to Boise, but moved to Spokane 2 yrs ago. I made it down for the BSU-Idaho football game last year but was out of town when they played in basketball.

Akpan has been amazing for me, I am going to miss him a ton, I am really hoping that C. Bennett 6'7 SF (75 Overall) that I am redshirting will be able to step in next year. The Horseman are huge, Hayes actuallys has really good speed for a 6'11 guy and I think he will also be a nice fit at PF and with Grangers Offensive skills, Shannon and Haynes just need to be able to play mins and pick up the slack on the boards.

I will try and give you some good stats on info on how Idaho is on the game. They actually have gone after some 5* JC guys who for some reason turn out really good for them. Mine always end up in the mid 60's but they signed a guy last year that was like a 75. Overall though they are still in the lower half the league in talent. Just like in real life :) lol just kidding

THE WIN STREAK CONTINUES.

Going into the came Coach Dezaron was very concerned. The Rebels have been recruiting warriors nabbing 3 5* All Americans over the last 2 seasons. Dezaron challenged his players to play up to their level and show the nation that the Broncos belong in the Top 25. In a amazing battle of the offense, it was the Broncos who came out on top out scoring the Rebels by 13. Final Score 91-78

KEY GAME STATS

BSU
Granger-15 pts 6 reb
Shannon-14 pts 3 reb
Haynes-13 pts 4 reb
Mason 13 pts 6 reb
Nash-12 pts 3/4 3pt

UNLV
McClarian-21 pts
Forbes-17 pts (All American)
Lemons-13 pts (All American)

Dezaron was amazed at the will of his team and the scoring he was able to do down low with 3 of the 4 horseman scoring double digits, his only disappointment was not getting more looks for Nash who is a dead eye from 3pt and he is still unsure what happened to Akpan who finished with a season low 7 points.

The 10-1 Broncos ask who is nex?

The Broncos continue their amazing winning streak. Again on paper the Broncos appreared to be the weaker team with a overall rating of 84. The Cardinals entered the game with a 100 rating and all 5 starters with over 90 ratings. However it was the underdog Broncos who came out scoring with all 5 starters scoring double digits. E. I have already recieved several negative emails and heard one of the sideline reports comment about my running up the score, however personally I just don't care. I am trying to prove to other coaches and the media that we belong in the Top 25.

The Golden Bear

In the opening round game, the Broncos faced off against UL Calcutta, and after playing the last 3 games against top 20 opponents, Coach Dezaron was afraid his team might not have much in the tank. However the Broncos took a 8 point lead into the half and never looked back. Final Score 81-71

However in Game 2 the Broncos would not be so lucky. I guess the gas finally ran out as the Arizona State Sundevils hand the Broncos their 2nd loss of the season Final score 71-68

Tournament MVP-A. Akpan 30 pts 20 reb 4 asst

Even though Coach Dezaron was disappointed in the loss, he was very happy with his overall team play. Besides Akpan great play, J. Granger also scored 15 pts a game in the tourny and Rothbart avg 7.5 pts and 7.5 asst.

Broncos head home to face Coach Dezaron ex-team Texas Southern.

BREAKING NEWS

Coach Dezaron is speachless. The Broncos returned home to find themselves still outside the Top25. Even though they are currently the #1 Mid Major and yet Creighton is #22 in the Coaches poll and #23 in the Media, yet ranked #2 in the Mid Major. Boise is dumbfounded and is not sure what they have to do to get the respect that this team deserves

As you can see I am getting screwed in the polls, and like in Football, playing in the WAC will not help me once conference play starts. My only hope is the Utah St and Nevada can string together some wins.

BRONCOS FACE TOUGH CHALLENGE

Coach Dezaron was not very happy when the A.D. scheduled this game against his former team. Texas Southern as former recruit C. Angourour(5* world recruit), scored a career high 24 pts on 4/6 3pt against his former coach. However it was Dezarons current team the Broncos that came away with the victory. Final Score 79-76

The Broncos used a balance attack with all 5 starters again scoring double digits. Sr A.Rothbart(PG) had his best all around game scoring 10 pts on 3-5 3pt well grabbing 6 boards and dishing out 5 assists.

CONFERENCE PLAY STARTS THIS WEEK WITH AT SAN JOSE STATE.

RECRUITING NEWS CONFERENCE.

Lewis Scott-Coach Dezaron you mentioned at the beginning of the season that this year your goal was to land a 5* AA for the Broncos how is that going?

Dezaron-Not so good we had several recruits rated in the top 5, but were not able to move up in the rankings, so I had to turn my attention to some 4* players that could come in and still make a impact on the roster heavy team next year.

LS-So who are you currently looking at? Did you find a replacement for Akpan? We are going to need a team leader next year. What about Rothbart, you currently only have a walkon in Callier and the redshirt SO Foster to run the Point?

Dezaron-Okay lets get this straight. Its going to take a few years to find that player that can feel Andy Akpan's shoes. Its not often you get a 6'9 SF who can slide over to PF when needed but has the shooting abilities of a SG. As far as who we have signed. Well we did find a Point who we feel will step right into the lineup and also a PF who will be amazing but with the logjam of playing time next year behind Hayes,Haynes,Granger,Shannon and Jackson, will probably redshirt. Lets get to the recruits.

Delbert Falknor is a 6'1 PG. He is rated #34 overall and #13 at his pos.
Bio-A 4* prospect Falknor has B+ Potential with a A rating in Shot,Skill,Def,Ath

M. Horner is a 6'7 PF. He is rated #67 overall and #6 at his pos.
Bio-A 4* BB from Hawaii who has A Potential. This was a huge signing because we were able to steal him from Cal and USC. Guess it helps playing every year in front of him.

LS-Wow those guys sound like they could be future studs for the Broncos.

Dezaron-We believe they will Lewis. We currently have 1 more scholarship to offer. We are looking at 2 different players and plan to offer once we feel we can get a 100% committment.

JP Bogans is a 6'5 SG rated #28 overal and #10 pos.
Bio-Bogans is a 4* with A Potential, currently the Broncos are at 71% and sit at #4 behind several large Pac-10 teams.

Eduardo Vilardell is a 6'4 SG rated #178 overall and #51 pos.
Bio-V as I like to call him is a 3* who also has A Potential. Currently he has conference rival San Jose State listed ahead of the Broncos but he is 98% sure he would like to play for the Broncos.

Stay tune to see how the Broncos recruiting plays out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MID SEASON STATS UPDATE.

BOISE STATE BRONOCS TEAM STATS
PPG-83.6 RPG-34.7 APG-14.4 SPG-8.3 BPG-4.8
The team is currently shooting 46% FG, 35% 3PT and 76% FT. Coach Dezaron would love to see that 3PT % increase because he knows its going to take some amazing shoot displays for the Broncos to make a long run in the NCAA's.

BOISE STATE PLAYER STATS
A. Akpan-16.9 pts 5.9 reb and is shooting 44% 3PT
Granger-13.3 pts 4.7 reb
Mason-10.2 pts 5.6 reb only shooting 22% 3PT
Nash-9.9 pts 39% 3PT
Rothbart-8.1 pts 5.7 asst
Shannon/Haynes/Haye combined-17.1 pts 10.7 reb

Dezaron comments-Mason has to start shooting the ball better. He is a career 40% 3PT shooter and after last years 50% we were expecting huge # from him this year. Granger has done a very good job of seperating himself from the rest of the 4 horsemen. However it will be Hayes,Haynes and Shannon that will need to continue to put up good # in the reserve roles to help keep up the wins.

I will keep a eye out for a Dixon. Problem is Mason is a senior, so he won't be around much longer. I have to say I have been very happy with his play so far. He was a *5 JC guy who joined me as a 68 but had good 3PT skills, he was actually listed as a PF but at only 6'5 I moved him to SF. He has amazing rebounding skills for his size, as he generally gets me around 6 a game which is good when you consider all the big guys I got.

Yeah Bogans will be a nice land, if I can get him. I don't like the fact that I am behind to some big schools that have had him on the radar all year, but with Horner and Falknor already on board, it wouldn't kill me to save my roster for one of those guys who isn't currently on the radar.

BOISE STATEHas been hit hard with injuries

Camara-Out for 18 days with a broken ankle
Haynes-Out for 16 days with a broken finger
Granger-Day to Day with a bruised hill, expect to miss possibly 5 days.
Rothbart-Day to Day with a sore hamstring expect to miss the next 2 days.

Coach Dezaron is reported saying he will take no chances and will sit both Granger and Rothbart to let their injuries heel in time for the tourney. Caller and Shannon will take up starting roles and Hayes and Dupree will be expected to log in more mins then usual. This might aslo be a good chance to see the 7'1 C Jackson for some extended mins.

With Shannon at 6'10, Hayes 6'11 and Jackson 7'1 I should be okay with the height factor but its Grangers Offense that I will miss. Shannon actually doesn't do to bad, he has a decent shot, and actually all 3 seem pretty quick for big guys. I keep reading about how everyones big guys are always so slow?? Camara was pretty much my #12 guy so we won't be missed, and I am actually excited about the chance to see if Caller can step up and play. He is a 68 overall walkon with 82 3pt ranking but for some reason, I who am normally very good at hitting the 3 can't seem to get him open. I don't really like his shot either, it takes forever. I am thinking of adjusting it do a different style. Does anyone else do this with players they don't like or do you just work through it. Granger has a stupid FT style too, I make them about 40% of the time.

For some reason, I tend to get screwed when it comes to getting awards and respect. The WAC has alot of really good players Gordan(Hawaii),Lampkin(Nevada), not to mention Carlson,Engle,McKnight(Utah St) All 5 are rated higher then Akpan. Well my game plan has always been to shut down Lampkin their PF. He is considered the best player in the WAC with a 92 ranking and is avg over 20 points a game. The problem is by not letting him score Pasco has gone off. I have considered the possibiltiy of moving Nash to PG, Mason to SG, Akpan to SF, Granger to PF and put in 7'1 Haynes in hopes of slowing him down. This will also also me the freedom to fire away with all 3 of my shooters in the game. However you will soon see this gameplan didn't work :(

Broncos take on the Huskies.

Coach Dezaron wasn't sure what to expect after such a emotional win over the Spartans, he felt like his guys had enough expierence that they could come out and produce without much of a letdown. After a battle back and forth in the 1st half with the game tied 42-42, we get a chance to hear what Dezaron has to say in the locker room at the half.

Dezaron-"You guys are playing good, but not great. I know that there is still gas left in the tank and I expect you guys to go out there and run these guys to death. I have no problem going 12 deep in the 2nd half. We are also going to switch things up. Mason, Boddicker is killing Nash on the outside, I need you to step up and stop him from hitting those 3's.Mason-"No problem coach consider it done"

Its the 2nd half, the Broncos come out on a 8-0 run, however they lose both Haynes and Shannon to day to day game injuries. Coach Dezaron turns to 7'1 RS FR A. Jackson to provide a big body of the bench. Jackson who normally only avgs 1.8 mins a game in garbarge time is excited to prove to his coach he can play ball at D-1 level. He provides a instant spark off the bench scoring 10 as the Broncos roll to a 90-70 win.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FEATURES #5 BOISE STATE BRONCOS VS #3 THE MARQUETTE GOLDEN EAGLES

It was a wild shoot out as both teams came out hitting 3's like they where layups. The Broncos however would take a 4 point lead 49-45 into the half, we now get the privledge of joining the Broncos in the locker room.

Dezaron"Well guys its been a amazing year, I would've never thought that in my sixth year as a coach and my fourth year as a Bronco that I would be sitting the the locker room holding a 5 point lead and going for a NCAA championship at age 31.

Akpan"Coach we couldn't of done it without you"

Dezaron"Thanks Andy, it has been a great honor and privledge to coach you, Mace, and Roth. I will miss you guys next year. But this game is not over, so lets go out there and finish kicking some Golden Eagle butt.

In what might go down as the best half of basketball ever played the Broncos would hold on to that 4 point lead and win the game Final Score 93-89.

It was a amazing season, I am not sure I will be able to duplicate. The Wolfpack lost in the 1st round, they really were not that good. Utah State has been the team that I seem to struggle with the most, but Nevada and Pasco had my # this year.

I will be posting some end of the season news and stats as well as recruiting updates. If I get time I will also post next seasons schedule, roster and recruit watch.

COACHING OFFERS
Coach Dezaron is the hottest coach in the country. As he is 1st on the list at Colorado,Washington State,Iowa,Georgia,TCU,Air Force and current home team the Gonzaga Bulldogs. We now go to a live press conference to hear Coach Dezaron annoucement.

Dezaron-"I am happy to say :) , I will be honoring my contract and staying at Boise State for at least 1 more year. It was very hard for me to turn :thumbsdow so many great offers, especially Washington State. I grew up enjoying watching the Pac-10 and still love to watch as many games as possible in both basketball and football and wish the progam the very best. However I bleed blue and orange and it has always been my life dream to coach the Broncos. I would hope that after bringing home the championship, that the school and boosters would see to it to pay me what top coaches in the country are making next year, I also would hope that more coaches across the nation would show their respect next year for the amazing play of this team and show us some love in the polls. How we could never show up in the top 25 of the coaches poll confuses me. I would also like to take this time to thank those for voting me the conference coach of the year for the 2nd time in as many years but again would like to say I am disappointed:( that I didn't earn more respect with our great season in not getting coach of the year. The head coach at Providence is a great one, however last I checked I don't remember seeing his team in the Final Four or the championship game:rolleyes: Thanks again for coming"

Thanks. As far as recruiting goes I hope so. I still have several goals to go. I havn't signed a *5,a *5 in-season, a AA,#1 player, or top recruiting class or even a top 20. I would love to stay at Boise and accomplish this all, but unless things go good next year, I might have to take that powerhouse job to get those goals. I will be updating end of year #'s and then the recruiting news.

FINAL RECRUITING NEWS.

The Broncos entered the season with 3 scholarships. If you read previously, you will know that they already filled 2 of those with 4* PG D. Falknor and 4* BB PF M. Horner. They had also had their eyes on a *4 SG by the name of Bogans and 3*E. Vilardelli.
Bogans would turn out to spurn the Broncos instead signing with Final Four UCLA, well Villardelli though 98% sure he wanted to be a Bronco would at the last minute choose conference rival SJSU. We now go to a live press conference to see what Coach Dezaron has to say.

Dezaron-"Well I must say I am disappointed that Bogans turned us down, but again I have been blessed at finding the players who slip through the cracks. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce Imannuel Bullock. He is a 6'3 4* SF who was ranked #44 overall in the nation. We feel that at 6'3 he might be a little small to play SF, so we plan to redshirt him next year and move him to SG where we feel his shot will allow him to be a viable starter when Rakim Nash graduates. Thank you for coming..."

The signing of Bullock has propelled the Broncos into the top 20 at #16 and has given the Broncos a great future.

On the National Front, the Kansas Jayhawks take home the top recruiting class as they sign 7 players. (Of those seven-3 are 5* AA, 2 being BB. They also signed 3-4*BB and 1-3*.The Washington Huskies continue their strong recruiting as they sign the #1 player in the nation a 6'5 AA Mr Basketball PG from California(I

Yeah I scheduled the tough non-conference games because for some reason even though my RPI was 11 last year I still stuggled to get in the top 25 even though I had 4 wins over top 25 teams. I added the Texas game, because on of my goals this year was to knock of the #1 ranked team and they were the preseason #1, I just hope they don't lose before we play each other. I really feel like I have a lineup that can complete with anyone in the nation of my FR PG turns out to be a good as I hope, and if Bennett can even put up 6-8pts. and play decent defense.I see Nash,Granger and Hayes putting up double figures pretty much every night

RECRUITING NEWS

We go to a press conference to hear Coach Dezaron share with the media some of his upcoming year recruiting news.

DEZARON-"Currently we have 5 scholarships to offer. Because I am now entering my 5th season at the helm of the Broncos, I have been able to scout these kids since they were freshman. However it seems like there is always someone who seems to fall through the cracks and others whom seem to not progress as we had hoped. Here is a list of the players we have targeted for the upcoming year" We have offered scholarships to all 5 players.

#1-Corbin Lynch 6'9 PF -A 5* AA Mr BB from Oregon.
BIO-He is the #19 rated prospect and #3 at the PF position. We currenttly sit #2 behind Washington. He is 87% sure he wants to be a Bronco but with the Huskies also offering a scholarship, he might be hard to convince. He also has Cal #3, Oregon #4, and UCLA #5 however all 3 are not currently offering a scholarship.

#2-Jeff Badu 6'3 SG-A 5* from California(Orginally note on our target list until we played a AAU game with fellow teammate A. Barlett)
[I]BIO-He is the #25 rated prospect and #7 rated at SG. He currently has the Broncos as his #1 school but is only 84% sure he wants to play as a Bronco. Stanford is the only school also taking a look at Badu, but so far hasn't offered a scholarship

#3-Collier McFadden 6'7 PF-4* Mr. BB from Nevada.
BIO-He is the #34 rated prospect. He is currently 100% sure he want to be a Bronco and has the Broncos as his #1 school however UNLV,Wash,Oregon St are continuing to pursue, but none have offered.

#4-Akini Barlett 6'7 PF-4* Mr BB from Utah
BIO-He is the #89 rated prospect. Currently he is 99% sure he wants to be a Bronco and has listed them as his #1 school. Utah is also taking a took at Barlett but have yet to offer.
#5-Ralph Hampton 7'1 C-3* from Tennessee.(He is the 1st recruit we have gone after that is not from the west coast or a world recruit)
BIO-Hampton is the #262 rated prospect at his pos. He is currently 80% sure he wants to be a Bronco and has BSU as his #1 school. However FSU,Alabama,Mississippi St, and Gerogia are all taking a look but none have offered.

DEZARON-"In a perfect world we would land all 5 of these guys in the early signing period, but as we know the world isn't perfect. "

STAY TUNE TO SEE IF THE BRONCOS CAN LAND ALL OR ANY OF THESE RECRUITS EARLY.

Chestnut-
If you are talking about Haynes, he is on the defensive side of the ball. Its his offense that needs work. I forgot to post it earlier but he actually has a pretty good outside shot, he hit 10-22 3pt last year. Problem is as big as he is, his inside game lacks. It doesn't help that all the players have 0 in standing dunk.

That is by far one of the scariest non conference schedules I have ever seen, my god man, 8 ranked teams in the top 25, 3 top 10 teams, and top 2 teams in the country, WOW. I think you just made Mark Few jealous.

and hopefully landing Barlett will sway Badu your way.

CincyFan
December 18th, 2007, 04:20 AM
yeah but the hardest thing about the schedule is that only two of those eight ranked games are at home. This season might be a bad year unless you take over the conference and win the conference championship.

Heck the first four games are against top ranked 25 teams and first home game is the last one.

Deuce2223
December 18th, 2007, 07:43 AM
I know my schedule is tough, but I the reasaon why is my team seems to get no respect. Last year I finished the season 25-6 with a RPI of 11 and the highest ranking I got was 19 in the media poll. Never did make the coaches poll. I have 3 goals this year. 1) To knock off the #1 team in the nation. 2)To finish in the top 10 of the media poll which in itself should mean I am in the coaches poll. 3)Win back to back championships.

I will continue to play 13 min halfs on All American with a few slider adjustments, however if I find myself still pulling out wins that should be loses, I will change it up to MOP. I tried MOP for a few games last year and got my butt handed to me. :), so we will see, maybe I just need to tweak the sliders. I find injuries to be very annoying. I know they are part of the game, but my guys seem to always get hurt.??

By the way does anyone else make adjustments to the sliders or do you just play them straight up??

I play on MOP with sliders. I think my shooting close is at 44 and mid is 46 and 3pt's are at 48. Something like that I downloaded them off of 2k. I think I am going to lower mine cause I have been winning a lot the last year and this year. Then again on your fourth year on MOP playing and then you find ways to win and hold off the comebacks by the computer.

BRONCOS LOSE SEASON OPENER AT THE BUZZER

In what will probably go down as one of the best games of the entire season for fans of high scoring basketball, we saw the Boise State Broncos fall to the Washington Huskies 115-113 on a buzzer beater 3pt by AA FR E. Kirkland. This was even more upseting to the Broncos for Kirkland had chosen the Huskies over the Broncos in the previous year recruiting class. RECRUITING UPDATE

Early Signing is here, and the Broncos have once again lost a recruit to the Washington Huskies. 5* AA C. Lynch has agreed to travel to Seattle to become a Huskies. In more news Stanford has now moved to #1 on 5*J Badu list even though he still likes the Broncos 100%. Also Utah has now offered a scholarship to 4* Mr BB from the state of Utah Barlett. Like Badu, Barlett is still 100% sure he wants to be a Bronco but still moved Utah to the top of his list.

Coach Dezaron was quoted saying, I don't understand what they kids are looking for. We won a national championship, we went to a Elite 8, our location is good, but it seems that for some reason because we are still considered a mid major, these guys look at us like we are small fish in a big lake.

On a positive note thought the Broncos did land a early commitment from 4* Mr BB from Nevada Collier McFadden. McFadden is a 6'7 PF who should fit in very nicely coming off the bench behind former 4* Mr BB J. Horner from Hawaii.

Thanks, this is the biggest game of my legacy so far. A game against the #1 team. A win and I earn another attribute. :)

I have to admit I am getting frustrated with the rankings though. Last year the highest I got was #19 and never got into the coaches poll. This year I have already noticed that again I am getting no respect again, I don't know if its because I am a mid-major or because I am a non-traditional powerhouse team, or what, because it can't be my lack of scheduling. So far my RPI is at #3.

yeah, thats just like real life though, a lot of mid major teams get the shaft due to the quality of other teams in there conference, you really have to prove to the comity that your team is for real, by making the tourney 6 straight years, look how long it took Nevada, Gonzaga, Butler, San Diego St. (sure there are a few more) before they started getting national respect. I bet this year, you will climb the polls, regardless if you loose to texas, and if you make the tourney this year, you will probably be pre season top 25 next year, I would hope anyways.

BRONCOS FACE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YET

The #24 ranked Broncos came to Austin tonight with one thing on their mind to upset the #1 ranked Longhorns. As the 1st half came to a close that dream was fading very quickly, as the Broncos would enter the locker room down 44-28. In a 2K exclusive we get to hear what Coach Dezaron had to say to his Broncos after such a horrible half.

Coach Dezaron-"I don't know who you think we are, but right now those players in the other room think we are a bunch of losers. Are we a bunch of losers?? Well I woudl say after looking at the score and your pathetic play we are!!!!!!!!!" So who here wants to just pack up and get back on the plane and go home right now???

R. Nash-"Coach can I say something?"
Dezaron-"Yeah go ahead,I am so mad I don't even think I can look at any of you right now!!!
Nash-"Guys, I know were down and I know it doesn't look good right now, but I also know we can play with these guys. They are not any better then UCLA, they are not any better then Michigan State,Lousiville, or anyone else that we have shown that we can beat. So lets pull our heads out of our *** and lets go out there any play the best basketball we can play"
Dezaron-"Thanks for the speech, Nash now the question is can you back it up. Here is what we are going to do. For the rest of this game we are going to a full court trap. We also are going to a 3 guard set and Bennett you are going to slide to PF. Hayes you will be our lone big man but I expect you to get every miss shot they put up. Foster get loose because you are starting the 2nd half."

Now back to the 2nd half. The Broncos in their Full court trap and 3 guard set would come out and force 19 TO, along with 5 steals. Nash who was 1-4 (3pt) in the 1st half would catch fire and hit 4-5 (3pt) in the 2nd to finish with a team high 22 pts and help the Broncos pull off the largest comeback in team history. Final Score 90-86

KEY GAME STATS
Broncos-37/70 shots including 8/20 3pt would outscore the Longhorns 62-42 in the 2nd Half.
Texas-attempted only 51 shots and hit only 7/21 3pt attempts

PLAYER STATS
Boise State
Nash-22 pts 5 asst, 4 steals, 5-9 3pt
Bennett-12 pts 3-3 3pt
Hayes-15 pts 12 reb 4 blk

Texas
Murray-22 pts
J. Barnhill-12 pts(Considered the top pick of the draft )
B. Banks 8 pts 4 asst.

All in All the Longhorns have 8 players projected to go in the draft and 3 of the starting 5 all picked to go in the Lottery. This was by far the a much bigger victory for me even more then my buzzer beater against Michigan State and my win over Marquette for the National Championship.

Next up the Broncos will travel home to face the UNLV Running Rebels currently ranked #20 in the Nation, but coming off a 3 point loss to #3 Kansas.

Last year when I was at Iona i didn't become ranked until my fourth year I was there (always have a winning record, won my conference tournament, made it to the NCAA tounament, and always broke the top 25 halfway through the year and stayed in it mostly) and I never was pre-season ranked until my fourth year. I got all the way to sweet sixteen or final four (can't remember) and fifth year my team was rated a 91 overall and made it to the final four. I left to go to a different school and for the next three years they started out in the pre-season top 10. You just have to work at it for about 3-4 years before you get enough rep to consistently be in the top 25 and high up. Highest they (iona) started out was I think #3.

Cincy.

I totally understand that, but I am in my 7th yr. 5th yr at Boise State. In my first 2 season as Texas Southern I went a combined 49-8 and made a 2nd round appearence in the NCAA that got me the job at Boise State. My next 4 yrs at Boise were like this
year 1) 23 wins 1st round
year 2) 25 wins 2nd round
year 3) 24 wins Elite 8. Finished ranked 22.
year 4) 32 wins National Championship ranked in the low 20's all yr never did make the coaches poll and then finished the year ranked #9.
You would think I could atleast be a top 25 preseason. I am a 89 overall.

It makes it hard, because I want to stay at BSU, but to earn any more attributes, it appears I might have to move on to major program.

BSU IS ON A ROLL

The Running Rebels are 4-1 coming off a 3 point loss to #3 Kansas 2 nights ago are looking for some revenge from last years loss in Vegas to the Broncos. In the 1st half the Rebels came out running and took a 50-46 point lead into the half. However the Broncos coming off a emotional high win against Texas where not to be denied as they came back to hit the game winning shot in the final minutes. Final score 78-88

NEXT UP FOR THE BRONCOS. VISITS AT BOISE FROM 3 PAC-10 TEAMS AS THE COUGERS OF WSU, THE DUCKS OF OREGON AND THE #6 CAL BEARS ALL COME TO BOISE. SEASON TICKET HOLDERS HAVE TO BE VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR HOME SCHEDULE THIS YEAR.

GAME 1 BSU-103 VS WSU-72

Not much to say abou this game but an old fashion butt whooping. The Broncos continue to rol as they win their 6th game of the year after a season opening loss to Washington. This game featured all 4 of the Horseman scoring in double digits combining for 78 of the 103 points for the Broncos. The Cougers were led in scoring by Carislie and Stafford with 16 pts each.

GAME 2 BSU-86 THE O-81

The Ducks played 12 players in the game and yet not a single 1 scored in double digits. The Broncos again were led in scoring by Grangers 22 pts but also found time to mix Nash back into the game plan, scoring 17 pts including 3-5 3pt.

GAME 3BSU-90 CAL-84

The Broncos on a mission take down yet another top 10 team. They have now won 9 games in a row and 4 in a row at home. R. Nash led the team in scoring pouring in 23 pts and hitting 6 3pt shots. Yeah the season is going just I hoped so far, except for the whole ranking deal, but I still have some big games left. After the Hawaiin Classic I go on the road to play Duke,UNC and then a remtach against last years championship game Marquette. I am hoping if I can at least split these games I will move up. Duke is currently #2 behind Kansas. Texas is now #3. UNC is horrible this year they are currently 6-4, so they look like a possible win. I am almost wondering if I should lose in the tourney because I just figured it out that if I win, I will have to play 5 games in 5 days. My boys are going to be tired...

BRONCOS ROLL IN THE HAWAIIAN CLASSIC

The Broncos go 3-0 and the Classic, taking out FIU 100-93 in the 1st round. Round 2 would match up the Broncos against Louisville, who over the last 4 years have become somewhat of a rival having both teams playing each other every year in some type of game. Well Boise State would have it their way again and play amazing defense, holding the Cardinals and their three 5*AA to a combined 23 pts. Final Score 72-53

In the Championship game the Broncos would take on the Vols of Tennessee. However again it was the Broncos behind to play of R. Nash 3pt shooting and the play of the 4 Horseman that would come out the victors. Final Score BSU-91 Vols-81

R. Nash was voted tourney MVP having scored 59 points and hitting 9-15 3pts. However after the game Coach Dezaron had this to say "Nash is always going to be our go to guy when we need a basket or need to play catch up, however I must say the player I was most impressed with this tourney was the play of SR 7'1 C M. Haynes. Haynes is not known for his offensive skills thus he has been our 7th man most of the year, however this tourney, he really showed he is a capable post scorer as well as has the ability to take it outside and hit the 3."

HAYNES FINISHED THE TOURNEY AVG 15 PTS A GAME AND HIT 5-7 3PT

NEXT UP THE BRONCOS HEAD EAST TO TAKE ON THE DUKE BLUEDEVILS.

BRONCOS NO MATCH FOR THE BLUE DEVILS

The Broncos coming off a 3 game in 3 day streach and a travel to the east coast, looked sluggish and tired. Even though they were currently ranked #22 and had a 12-1 record on paper it was pretty much written off as a loss for most major sports writers. The Blue Devils currently 10-0 and ranked #2 in the nation boast a roster of 7 5* AA including the last 2 yrs #1 players in the nation. D. Thomas one of those 5* AA SO PF would score 22 pts and grab 9 rebounds as he led Duke 85-74 past the Broncos.

The only positive thing was in the final 3 mins, JR A. Camara who normally nevers plays being the 12th man on the team would actually gome in and score 11 points hitting 3 of 3 behind the arc, to actually give the Broncos a respectable score.

Next up the Broncos face a disappointing UNC team currently 8-5 and ranked out of the the top 25.

BRONCOS FACE A DEPLEATED UNC ROSTER

In the first time in I don't know how many years, the UNC TarHeels only have 2-5* AA on their roster. The Broncos coming off a tough loss to Duke and still tired however are able to scrape together enough energy to pull of the 96-86 win R. Nash would lead all scorers with 17 points but would do it 0-4 from downtown. M. Haynes would continue his scoring also pouring in 16 pts and grabbing 10 boards.

BRONCOS FINISH THE NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE AT HOME AGAINST MARQUETTE

In what would be a rematch of last years NCAA Championship game, it would be the Broncos again on the winning side. The Broncos still only ranked #22 in the Media poll and getting no love from the coaches for their 13-2 record would defeat the Golden Eagles 103-97The loss would drop Marquette to 9-5 and out of the top 25. The Broncos were lead by the play of the 4 Horseman as they combine for 63 points 22 rebound and 5 blocked shots. M. Haynes would continue his hot streak scoring 18 of those points and blocking 3 shots.

NEXT UP THE BRONCOS START CONFERENCE PLAY.

The Bronocs showed why they are the best of the WAC in a dominating opening game. J. Granger poured in a career high 33 pts and grabbed 9 rebounds, well M. Haynes and R. Nash added 24 pts a piece. Nash was 4-6 behind the arc. FR PG D. Falknor continued his solid play adding 12 pts and 9 asst. La Tech was lead by Baxter and Bauer with 17 pts a piece.Final Score 129-72

The Broncos continued their winning ways as they defeated the New Mexico Aggies 93-72(FR) D. Falknor had his career high in points pouring in 19 well hitting 4-5 3pts. Granger and Haynes continued their post dominance as they both added 15.

BOISE STATE TAKES THE TOURNEY

In the Championship game, we got a rematch of the top 2 teams from the WAC. The Utah State Aggies have taken over as Boise States top Rival. BRONCOS GET DANCING PARTER IN UT ARLINGTON

The Broncos make quick work of the Mavricks defeating them 96-42 in the opening round out West. R. Nash led all players with 25 pts well hitting 5-7 3pt.

No major upsets in the West as all the higher seeds move on. However in the East the #13Princeton Tigers defeated #4Creighton 80-59.In the South #11 Oklahoma St defeated Gonzaga 80-76, and in the Midwest #10 Maryland defeated #5 Kansas.

Other noteable games. Texas Southern(Coach Dezaron 1st coaching post) lost their opening round game after making back to the dance for the 1st time since Dezaron lost. Also fellow WAC #8 Utah State lost their opener to #9 Charolette 80-62.

ROUND 2 MATCHUP BOISE STATE VS CLEMSON

Not much of a game as the Broncos would lean heavy on the 4 Horseman getting 24 pts from Granger and 22 from Haynes. The Tigers would battle back but fall short 88-83

Round 2 would prove to be the final stop for the Princeton Tigers as they fall to the Flordia Gators. In the South, the Oklahoma State Cowboys would continue their run as they defeat Michigan State 104-101

ROUND 3 MATCHUP BOISE STATE VS THE ORANGE OF SYRACUSE

The Broncos came out and used a high temp run and gun aproach to defeat the Orange 105-83. R. Nash scored 30 pts hitting 7-16 3pt. FR D. Falknor also got into the action as he showed he can put it in the hoop as well as dish it out. Falknor finished with 18 pts and 9 asst well hitting 4-8 3pt. As a team the Broncos made 17-30 3pt attempts

Elite 8 pairings
#1 Texas vs #2 Indiana(Texas wins 82-80)
#1 Louisville vs #2 Boise State
#1 California vs #2 Duke(Duke wins 92-84)
#1 Vandy vs #10 Maryland(Vandy wins 77-72)

THE BRONCOS FACE RIVAL LOUISVILLE FOR A CHANCE AT A TRIP TO THE FINAL FOUR.

The Bronocs came into this game with a win over the Cardinals earlier in the year in the Hawaiin Classic. So even though they are load with 5*AA, the Broncos would have no fear. R. Nash continues his hot shooting from the outside hitting 5-8 from downtown. Granger and Haynes would also add 15 pts and 8 boards to balance out the attack.Final score 78-72.

The Broncos will now face the Texas Longhorns who like the Cardinals the Broncos have seen these year already. This seasons earlier matchup gave us one of the most memorable combacks in NCAA history. Can the Broncos repeat that same magic tomorrow?

After the game we caught up with Coach Dezaron.

Jeff Goodman(senior writer for foxsports.com)-Coach congrats on the big win

Dezaron-Thanks Jeff, nice to see the media still loves the Broncos to bad my fellow coachs still show me no respect.

GoodmanYeah I don't know what their problem is. I can't believe your Broncos finshed the season ranked #9 by the media #1 mid major had the #3 RPI yet the coach still ranked you #22.
Dezaron-Persnonally I take as a huge let down in the system, but there is not alot I can do about it but I guess just continue to go out their and kick their teams butts. I am taking a new motto into next season. I will play anyone, anywhere ,anytime.

GoodmanSpeaking of next year, rumor has it that some big time programs have you listed as the top young coaching prospect in the nation. Last I heard your name was being linked to Ole Miss and Wake Forest. Do you have any comment.

DezaronJeff those are some big time programs and Wake Forrest has some very nice history and playing in the ACC against the likes of Duke and UNC. Who wouldn't want that challenge. However the thing is I bleed Orange and Blue. I have been a Bronco my entire life and to get this job after only 2 years at Texas Southern, I just don't know if I have the heart to leave.

GoodmanSo are you saying you will be a Bronco for Life???

DezaronNow Jeff you are just putting words in my mouth. Actually the A.D. and are planning a sit down after the season to discuss my next contract. I am looking to go for a 5 yr deal, that way I can have some leverage with my recruits in letting them know I will be around for all 4 yrs of their careers at Boise State. However there will be a list of my top 5 coaching jobs in which the School will have no buyout insurance. There will also be another list of 5 schools in which the other schools will have a chance to buyout my contract for $500,000.

GoodmanAny chance of you telling me that list Coach??

DezaronSorry Jeff, not right now I need to go prepare my team against a tough Texas team, but I will give you some hints it is very WestCoast heavy.

GAME 1 DUKE VS VandyFinal score 82-74

BRONCOS LOSE HEARTBREAKER AT THE BUZZER

The fireworks went off tonight. Both teams would score 50 points in the 1st half and the firepower continued into the 2nd half as R. Nash finishes with a team high 33 points including 6-10 3pt. J. Granger and M. Haynes would both add 20 pts in the loss, because it was 5* AA Barnhill(considered a top pick in the draft) who would lead Texas to victory scoring 38 pts and grabbing 16 rebounds.Final score 106-103. We go to Coach Dezaron at the press conference after the game.

Dezaron-"This was a tough loss tonight, the Longhorns are well coached and anytime you have 9 players who are rated higher then our best player(Nash) and 6 of them projected to be lottery picks, you know you are playing a tough team. Someday I hope that that can be said of my Broncos as well. I know there was alot of talk before the game that I might have 1 foot out the door, well let me put a end to that rumor. As of next monday I will officially be signing a 5 yr contract to stay here at Boise State. Most people don't know but in my playing days I wore the #2 jersey. I was given the nickname Deuce and because of that I like to do things in twos. Well we only have 1 National Championship here in Boise. So until I get that coveted second N.A., I will stay at the helm of the Boise State Broncos. Hopefully that knowledge and desire will carry over to my very young team next year. I will greatly miss the 4 Horseman. They were a great bunch of men. I expect big things from R. Nash though. He was named 2nd team all conference again, and I know it is his goal and mine to have him on the 1st team next year. I also expect big things from redshirt freshman M. Horner. He was the Mr. BB from Hawaii last year and would've been in the starting lineup this year had it not been for the Horseman. I know we are going to be a little short next year but I have high hopes for my new twist to the already hi tempo Bronco offense.. Thanks for the great year and I will see you next time when I annouce my incoming recruits and next seasons schedule.

well we all know you can shoot since you scored over 100 points it seems like half the time, but where is the defense at? That is the thing you might want to start recruiting cause we all know how good you are for players with offensive skill.

ITS OFFICIAL DEZARON TO BE AT BOISE FOR 5 MORE YRS PENDING JOB OFFERS

The Broncos were given the best present ever as UNC decided even though they had a 14-17 record and a bottom 3 ACC finish well missing the Big Dance in who knows how long, decided to give their Coach one more chance to turns things around. Just like reports had said both Ole Miss and Wake Forrest along with ECU of Conference USA all offer Coach Dezaron a chance to move into the powerhouse conferences. However like Dezaron said earlier, there would be only 5 teams that could retain his services without the buyout and then only another 5 that coudl sway him to leave Boise before the 2nd N.A.

TEAMS THAT COULD SIGN DEZARON WITHOUT PENALTY.

1)UNC
2)Arizona State
3) California
4) UNLV
5)USC

TEAMS THAT COULD BUYOUT HIS CONTRACT AT $500,000

1)OKLAHOMA STATE
2)WASHINGTON STATE
3)BOSTON COLLEGE
4)TEXAS TECH
5)GEORGETOWN

TEAMS THAT HAVE A MILLION DOLLAR BUYOUT

1)SAN DIEGO STATE
2)MEMPHIS
3)GONZAGA
4)CREIGHTON
5)MINNESOTA

(ALL OF THESE ARE TEAMS I HAVE COACHED AT 1 POINT DURING MY 27 SEASON RUN OF 2K7) OR TEAMS THAT ARE CLOSE TO MY HEART(GONZAGA) OR TEAMS THAT HAVE A TRADITION THAT I RESPECT(OKLAHOMA ST,GEORGETOWN,MEMPHIS)

BRONCOS SIGN 5PLAYERS TO NEXT SEASONS SQUAD

As you may remember the Broncos had early success landing 4* PF C. McFadgon the Mr. BB from Nevada. He was ranked #34 overall and #5 at his pos. However that good luck ran short as the Broncos lose McFadgons AAU teamate 5* J. Badu. Badu would end up choosing the Stanford over the Broncos, well another highly coveted recruit 4* Mr BB from Utah would choose the hometown Utah Utes over the Bronocos. This would open up 2more scholarships to go along with the 1 that Coach Dezaron had already set aside for a late run at another 5* AA. That 5*AA would be G. Cripes a 6'7 PF Mr BB from Illinois. He was rated #11 in the nation and #4 at his pos. The Broncos were shocked to see him still available and with no schools offering scholarships. In further review, it was found that Cripes had some background issues that scared off many teams.

The Broncos would also hand out scholarships to 5* JC FR D.C. McGuire. Not much is known about D.C. but with the loss of the 4 Horseman, the Broncos needed to add another bigman to the recruiting list. The Broncos still had 7'1 3* R. Hampton who was the #17 overall C and #262 nationally close to signing (currrently 95% but #1 on the board). With still 1 more scholarship to offer the Coach Dezaron and the staff felt that it was important to add another shooter, so they choose N. Ruffin a 6'4 SG who was rated a 4* #26 at his pos and #74 overall.

AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS THE BRONCOS WOULD RECIEVE COMMITTS FROM HAMPTON AND D.C. MCGUIRE GIVING THEM 3 BIGMEN TO REPLACE THE HORSEMAN. THEY ALSO MADE IT UP TO 96% ON 5* AA CRIPES AND #1 ON HIS LIST WITH ONLY TEXAS STILL SOMEWHAT INTERESTED. THE NEXT WEEK HOWEVER PROVED TO BE A DIFFERENT STORY. TEXAS WOULD OFFER A SCHOLARSHIP AND CRIPES WOULD CHOOSE THE LONGHORNS OVER THE BRONCOS:( HOWEVER THEY WOULD RECIEVE ANTOHER COMMITMENT FROM N. RUFFIN. WITH ONLY 1 WEEK LEFT COACH DEZARON STILL HAD 1 MORE RABBIT TO PULL FROM THE BAG. HE HAD SECRETLY KEPT IN CONTACT WITH W. HOOPER A 6'3 PG WHO WAS RATED A 4* PROSPECT WITH A RANKING OF #95 OVERALL AND #34 AT HIS POSITION. ON THE FINAL DAY OF RECRUITING HOOPER WOULD MAKE IT OFFICIAL AND GIVE THE BRONCOS ONE OF THEIR BEST RECRUTIING CLASSES EVER.

FINAL RECRUITING BREAKDOWN
Boise State finished #9 in the nation.

THE TOP 5 SCHOOLS
#1 Duke-3 5* AA (this gives them 9 on the team now)
#2 Texas-4 5* with 3 of them AA and 4 Mr BB. They also would sign 3-4* giving them the largest class I have seen and very good young team for years to com
#3 Louisville- 2 5* AA (they continue to have 7 AA on their roster)
#4 UCLA-2 5*AA
#5 Wisconsin-3 5# with 2 of them being AA.

FRESH-

THANKS!!! IT WAS A GREAT YEAR.

However I must admit I am getting frustrated with the lack of being able to sign a 5* AA and I am very frustrated with the whole poll issues. I don't no if there is some type of glitch or what because with the seasons I have, I should be a preseason top 25 by now and if I am not there is no reason Utah State should be. Oh well I have a feeling that I will be getting a job opp soon to join a powerhouse program that I can justify leaving the Broncos for, so maybe I will just have to wait until then.

As far as a game against Texas. I have been trying to stick with the teams that the computer gives me. I have played Texas the last 2 seasons in non conference play as well as the Final 4 game, so I don't and didn't put them on this years schedule. However here is a breakdown of their team.

PG-Welch (93 OV) SR 5*AA who was ranked #11 overall and #5 at his pos Mr. BB Texas
C-Northern (92) SR 5* AA ranked #12 and #1
PF-Hoffman (90) JR 5* AA ranked #23 and #1 Mr. BB Texas
PG-Dalgran (90) SO 5* AA ranked #1 and #1 Mr. BB Texas
SG-Cain (85) FR 5* AA ranked #10 and #1
C-Dagne(80) FR 5* AA ranked #23 and #1 Mr BB Texas
PF-Cripe(77) FR 5* AA ranked #11 and #4 Mr BB Illinois
SG-Diagne(77) FR 4* Mr BB Oklahoma
PG-Harvery(76) FR 4* Mr BB New Mexico
PF-Kowalksi(67) FR 4*

2014-15 BOISE STATE ROSTER

PG-6'1 SO FALKNOR(83 OVERALL)
STARTED ALL 40 GAMES AS A TRUE FROSH, AVGING 7.2 PTS 5.6 ASST AND SHOOTING 42% 3PT. (81 3PT)
SG-6'3 SR NASH(85)(TEAM CAPTAIN)
Career avg of 11.6 pts 4.1 reb, 3.3 asst, 41% 3pt (91 3pt ranking)
SF-6'8 RS JR BENNETT(82)
Avg 7.5 pts and 6.0 reb. Look for the Broncos to take advantage of his height mismatch more this year.(Bennett is a COF)
PF-6'9 RS FR HORNER(79)
REDSHIRTED LAST YEAR WAS THE MR BB FROM HAWAII. BRONCOS EXPECT BIG THINGS FROM HORNER, HOPING THAT HE WILL BECOME A A. AKPAN FOR COACH DEZARON AND THE BRONCOS.
C-6'10 JC SO McGUIRE(75)
A 5* JC recruit in his 1st season as a Bronco.

6th-6'4 RS FR BULLOCK(76)
Bullock orginally a small SF was redshirted and moved to S. He has a 79 3pt ranking
7th- 6'6 RS SO RODRIGUEZ(78)
A 5* world recruit has found a nice spot as a role player for the Broncos. He has avg 4.3 pts 2.4 reb and hit 43% 3pt last year in his 1st significant playing time.
8th- 6'2 SR CALLIER(76)
Callier is a walkon who earned a role on the Broncos for his dead eye aim from downtown. He has a 87 3pt ranking and last season hit 50% going 22/44.
9th-6'9 FR MCFADGON(74)
A Mr BB from Nevada. McFadgon will be asked to play a huge role this year if Horner isn't able to step up
10th-7'1 RS JR 7'1 JACKSON(69)
The lowest rated player on the Broncos is also the tallest. Jackson hasn't recieved much playing time as he has been buried on the bench behind the 4 Horseman, so this will be his season to shine.
11th-6'6 RS JR FOSTER(73)
Another mismatch problem for teams however has failed to live up to the potential that Coach Dezaron thought he had, and is now buried on the bench.
12th-6'5 RS JR CAMARRA(77)
Another player who has yet to live up to his potential. Camarra is a world recruit from Senegal who has only been playing organized basketball for 5 yrs.

REDSHIRTS
PG-6'4 W. Hooper FR(69)
SG-6'5 N. Ruffin FR(75) 86-3pt ranking
C-7'1 R. Hampton FR (74)
SF-6'6 R. O'Neil FR (69) ****Walkon****

It was very hard to redshirt Ruffin and his 3pt shooting skills, also Hampton height might be missed, but with such a deep team, Coach Dezaron had some tough choices. Guess we will see if it pays off.

Next up the Bronocs start the season in a 1st round matchup against the Oregon Ducks at Reese Court in the Polar Bear Classic.

BRONCOS DEFEAT DUCKS IN OPENING ROUND OF THE POLAR BEAR CLASSIC

In the 1st half, FR M. Horner would destroy the Ducks full court press blowing by the defense throwing down thunderous jams. First Half finish Broncos 44-37. Horner was the player of the half scoring 11 pts grabbing 3 rebounds dishing out 2 assists and getting 2 steals. However the 2nd Half would be a different story for Horner but not for the Broncos as they continue to roll. Final score 87-75

KEY PLAYER STATS

NASH 24 pts 3-8 3pt 7-9 FT
McGuire-8 pts 10 reb
Bennett 9 pts 7 reb
Horner 13 pts(only 2 pts in the 2nd)
Bullock and Rodriquez 10 pts each off the bench.

ROUND 2 PITS BOISE STATE VS NORFORK ST.

This was not much of a game as the Broncos were the dominant team from the get go. SO sensation D. Falknor would leave the game early with a thigh bruise so J. Callier would come off the bench to lead the Bronocs with 18 pts hitting 2-4 3pt, well R. Nash would add 16 pts 7 rebs and 4 asst but finish 0-4 3pt on the night. Final score 91-61

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME BOISE STATE VS WESTERN MICHIGAN.

In a matchup of the Broncos, it would be the Broncos of Boise who again where the best team out on the court. R. Nash again would lead the BSU to victory as he poured in 27pts on 5-8 3pt shooting.Final score BSU-80 WMU-49

R. Nash would take home tournamnet MVP as he avg 22.3 pts a game and hit 8-20 from 3pt range.

In what was a tough battle throughout the entire game, the depth of the Bruins would just prove to be to much as 6 players scored in double figures led by Gorals 19 pts and Harrington 18pts 7 asst. Final score 92-88

KEY BRONCO STATS

Bullock-18 pts 4-8 3pt
Horner 16 pts 5 reb
Falknor 15 pts 3-6 3pt
Nash 10 pts 2-8 3pt

After the game we caught up with R. Nash and this is what he had to say"I let the team down tonight, I couldn't find my stroke and even though Coach Dezaron told me to shoot my way out of it, I know now that I should've gave up the ball. In a game in which Coach Dezaron would get a chance to face past recruit J. Badu, he made this statement. "He will not score. I don't care if I have to double team him all night."

In a game that would see saw back and forth all night, it was the Broncos of Boise State that would be able to walk off the court as the victors. R. Nash would lead the Broncos in scoring with 25 pts and 9 reb and D. Falknor would add 16 pts on 4-8 3pt. Stanford was led in scoring byt Channing's 20 pts 9 reb 5 blk.Final score 82-80

KEY NOTES
Dezaron would keep his promise and kept Badu scoreless in his 7 mins of play.
Nash would not learn from his own words as he continued to shoot his way out of the slump hitting only 1-9 from downtown.

wow read up on this new year and your team looks solid, and I am not just talking about the starters. At least no one is outstanding so the opposing team just concentrates on him. I am not sure what I am going to do with all this depth. My team is going to go 12 strong and I wil have no players really to redshirt. So even though on paper it looks like a good thing, I am going to have a battle in keeping everyone happy.

Just balance your minutes well, don't give anyone too many minutes, play them all evenly, and don't worry about anyone not in the 12 man rotation, if you have reserves getting unhappy oh well, the worst they will do is transfer next season, and if you have 12 other guys who are better you didn't need them to begin with right.

RECRUITING UPDATE.

The Broncos have only 1 scholarship to offer this year and have set their sights on 2 5* AA that we have had on the radar since their Freshman year.

1) H. Harrison is a 6'9 C out of Utah. He is ranked #6 overall, #2 at his pos, and is the Mr. BB from Utah. Currently the Broncos lead the chase and have Harrison 85% sure he wants to be a Bronco. The Utes of Utah are currently #2 in their attempt to land the hometown legend.

2)K. Wilkins is a 6'5 SG from California. He is the #19 ranked and #4 at his pos. Currently the Broncos are #1 but he is only 79% sure he wants to be a Bronco. Cal,UCLA,Washington, and Arizona are also in the hunt to get Wilkins services.

After taking a look at the current team and talking with the fellow coaching staff, Coach Dezaron has decided to offer the scholarship to Harrison. This would increase his desire to 94%.

Dezaron-"We really like Wilkins shooting abilities, but with Bullock and Ruffin already on board to take over for Nash next year, we felt it was best to add another bigman to the team. We hope that Harrison will feel the same about us as we do about him"

The Broncos have 1 week to see if they can land Harrison in season thus earning Coach Dezaron 2 more attribute point. 1 or 5* AA and one for in season.

Trust me I use my pep talks, and as far as who to keep happy, so far so good. Funny thing is when i first started I would've given my left nut to have a 6'6 PG like Foster, however he has never really lived up to what I had hoped for. So he pretty much is buried at the end of the bench. Camarra's problem is he is pretty much like everyone else I have minus the ability to hit 3's on a constant basis.Jackson is my worse player overall but because of his height he contiues to make the rotation and to a pleasent surprise he has actually produced quite well so far this year. The only other problem with having such a talented young team is that it has also kept me from moving on to a powerhouse conference. Its starting to get old beating up on my fellow WAC opponents year after year.

BRONCOS OPEN THE HOME SEASON AGAINST THE UNC TAR HEELS

These are 2 programs going into the opposite direction. Boise State has made 5 straight NCAA tourneys including a National Champ and Final 4 the last 2 seasons. The Tar Heels on the other hand went 14-17 last season and missed the tourney. UNC still has 1 5*AA in B. Norman, but after him the rest of the roster is pretty depleated. The Broncos would use a nice balance scoring attack with Bullock(18 pts) and Nash (10 pts) on the outside and Horner(29 pts) and Jackson (10 pts) on the inside. The Tar Heels were led in scoring by D. Allen 20 pts and 7 reb. Norman would be a non factor scoring 4 pts on 2-9 shooting. As a team UNC would also only hit 1-16 3pt. It was that stat alone that would lead to a defeat at the hands of the Broncos. Final Score 98-74

5-1 BRONCOS NOW FACE 3-3 WYOMING

R. Nash and his cold shooting continue however the Broncos would get lots of support from the rest of the team and pull out the victory 96-72 Nash would stil lead the team in scoring with 20 pts but his 3-12 from Dowtown has started to give Coach Dezaron alot of concerns. As a team the Broncos shot 14-35 3's, so subtacting Nash's # would show the rest of the team shot a combine 11-23. That is the type of % Dezaron would like to see from his Broncos.

OTHER KEY STATS
Falknor 16 PTS 7 asst (4-6 3pt)
Bennett-9 pts 10 rebounds (2-2 3pt)
Horner- 8pts 9 reb 3 blks
Rodriguez-14 pts (4-7 3pt)

The arena was hoping tonight spoted with a mixture of Crimson and Gray mixed in with the Blue and Orange of the Broncos. The O-ZONE(student section) was in rare form as they had the crowd on the Cougs all night. R. Nash would finally start to pull out of a early season slump hitting 3-4 3's well scoring 23 pts. Final score 108-69

OTHER KEY STATS

D. Falknor-18 pts 8 asst (3-6 3pt)
Bennett-17 pts 8 reb
Horner-10 pts 5 reb

As a team the Broncos shot 12-25 from 3pt. This continues to be a valuable scoring option as the Broncos lack alot of low post scoring options.

The Broncos are now 3-1 vs the Pac-10 with Arizona still on the schedule next week.R. Nash broke out of his season long slump hitting 4-9 from downtown on his way to a game high 26 pts.

DIFFERENT TEAM SAME RESULTS

The Broncos faced a very expierenced Arizona team(86 over team unity), however the Broncos with the home court advantage and sell out crowd were able to hold off the Wildcats 80-70 . The Broncos were led in scoring by a name we havn't heard much about this year. So. D.C. McGuire had huge shoes to fill with the departure of the 4 Horseman, and he filled those shoes tonight scoring 18 pts grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. He was joined in the double digit scoring column with Horner scoring 16 pts and Nash scoring 14 pts on 3-9 3pt shooting. The Wildcats were led by C. Fulton 18 pts on 3-9 3pt.

NEXT UP THE BRONCOS GO TO THE HAWAIIN CLASSIC.

Vols and Cincy.
Yeah I feel bad for UNC they are my favorite east coast team like everyone else growing up watching them. I had actually simmed ahead at the end of the year last year to see what teams where offering coaching jobs and UNC offered me the job. However when I went back and played out my season, they were not on the list the next time. Oh well I am having a amazing season so far. I need to get busy posting my games. My wife came home sick from the holidays visiting family, so I have pretty much been camped out in from of the Computer or TV for the last 2 days.

Cincy
You will be happy to know that the State of Ohio is dominating my legacy right now. Xavier is #2 Ohio State #3 and Cincy #16. I will have to check and see how Miami of Ohio is doing.

So actually how far are you in your season. And it is good to see some Ohio teams doing well since in mine its basically Ohio State (#17 pre-season this year and #2 last year) is the only team that cracks the top 25. Hopefully I can finally break in the top 25 but who knwos I usually usually the last coach to do everything though.

Cincy those rankings were when I just finished playing my non conference scedule. I am just now getting ready to post the rest of my games. I actually could be at the computer most of the night because I am actually up to the NCAA tourny. I have started getting bored whooping up on the poor WAC teams as you will be able to tell by my scores. It is looking more and more like its time to move on. I just need to get the right job offer. Guess we will see what happens. Xavier and Cincy have both been good for a couple of years in my legacy, so its not like its a fluke. However Miami of Ohio is currently sitting in last in the MAC.

BRONCOS DOMINATE THE CLASSIC

For the third time in the the last 3 yrs the Broncos have taken home the championship trophey from the Hawaiin Classic. In opening round action the Broncos made quick work of ULM 98-49. Round 2 would be no different as the Broncos break the century mark beating Buffalo 106-75. In the Championship game the Broncos would face the Rice Owls. This would be the closest of all three games but the Bronocs can't be beatFinal score 82-72

Sophmore sensation D. Falknor took hom MVP honors avg 15 pts 7 asst well shooting 52% from 3pt.

NEXT UP THE BRONCOS HEAD TO FLORIDA TO TAKE ON THE #2 Gators.

This would be a huge test for the Broncos. In the past 2 seasons, they have come out tired and sluggish after winning the Classic. Will this be the year the Broncos can break the jink and cotinue their 9 game win streak.

On paper this doesn't apear to be much of a matchup. The Gator return 4 starters from last year and have a high team unity 76. They also have a 99 overall ranking, 98 Offense 99 Defense. The Broncos on the other hand are currently a 89 overall 87 offense 88 defense and only have a team unity of 51. However with a 9 came win streak the teams confidence level is sky high.

The Broncos come out firing as they have 6 players score in double figures led by seldom used 6'7 JR PG F. Fosters 20 pts. The Gators would fire back but run out of ammo as the Broncos win won of the biggest games of their season in a 113-83 victory

HUGE WIN PROPELS BRONCOS INTO TOP 25

The win at Flordia was so great that the media now see that the Broncos and their 13-1 record and 10 game win streak are for real. The Broncos make their appearence at #19. However they are still only considered the 2nd best Mid Major Program behind Creighton currentyl 14-0 and are till no where to be found in the coachs poll.

BRONCOS CLOSE OUT THEIR NON CONFERENCE SCHEDULE AT HOME WITH WINS AGAINST GONZAGA AND UTAH.

The Broncos continue to own the Taco Bell Arena, as they now move to 7-0 at home. The O-Zone continues to be one of the best student sections this side of the mississippi. In Game 1 the Broncos would take care of business against the Zags 92-88 This was a amazing display of fire power as both teams shot 50% on their 3pt shots. The Broncos hit 12/24 well the Zags hit 10/20.

In Game 2 The Broncos would show no mercy as they defeat the Utah Utes 84-72

The Broncos now have 5 days off before heading south to open up conference play against WAC rival Utah St.

BRONCOS WIN WAC OPENER ON THE ROAD

The Broncos continued their win streak against the Aggies of Utah St. The Aggies appear to be the best team in the WAC on paper and where a preseason Top 25. However the Broncos would should that it was they who truely deserved the preseason ranking.Final Score 78-70

Like we said on paper the Aggies look to be pretty dominant. They have a 93 overall ranking 93 Offense 92 Defense and a Team Unity of 77. to go along with the best player in the Wac Will Stivers (91 overall). However because they games are played with blood and sweet the Broncos where and will always be the dominant team.

Recruit Update

The Broncos now have H. Harrison the #6 player in the nation at 100% and he is ready for the season to be over so he can sign on the dotted line. I believe he is starting to wish he would've just signed durning the early enrollment, but its nice to know that the Broncos will have their 1st 5* AA, unless some freak accident happens.

Even though the Broncos are out of scholarships Coach Dezaron continues to keep making contact with #11 overall K. Wilkins a 5* AA from Stockton CA. He is currently at 88%, but without a opening many people in the college scouting circles are puzzled to why Coach Dezaron would even be wasting his time talking to the kid.

During the win over Idaho on Senior Night J. Callier a walkon and fan favorite for his 3pt bombing style scored 17 pts hitting 4-7 from downtown. Fellow senior R. Nash had 14 pts on 3-8 shooting showing he was willing to share the spot light for once. :)

BOISE STATE ROLLS IN THE WAC TOURNEY. NEXT STOP NCAA'S

In opening round action the Broncos would face instate rival Idaho. Having just beaten the Vandals 4 days earlier in Boise, Coach Dezaron was concerned that the Vandals would have some extra motivation to try for the upset. However R. Nash and the rest of the Broncos would not allow that to be a option as they won 91-65

In Round 2 the Broncso faced the Bulldogs of Fresno State. This hasn't really turned into the hated rivalary like the Football teams have, but still no team likes to lose to someone 3 times in the same year. Plus Fresno was coming off a 20 win season and had hopes of making a run toward a NCAA berth. However again the Broncos would have none of it and defeated the Bulldogs 98-92.

In Championship Action the Broncos would face off against the hated Aggies of Utah State. However again the Broncos would prove once again that this was a dream season defeating the Aggies 83-69

THE 34-1 BRONCOS NOW WAIT TO SEE WHERE AND WHO THEY WILL PLAY IN THE BIG DANCE

#7 Maryland
vs
#10 Nebraska

#8 Houston
vs
#9 Purdue

1st round-Seems like something is going on with #10 as Nebraska pulls off the win against Maryland. Will they be the next opponet for the Broncos?

Boise State makes quick work of Samford 79-48 D. Falknor would lead the Broncos with 14 pts 5 asst and Rodriguez and Foster would join him scoring double digits 13 and 11 respectfully. R. Nash would only score 6 pts and shoot 0-6 from dowtown. This will have to change if the Broncos plan to make a run deep into the tourney.

2nd round action would show us that #5 Texas lost to #4 USC 88-80 and Cinncy would continue their run with a 72-62 win over Duke. Does the Broncos run continue after a meeting with Nebraska?

Boise State continues to play at the top level of all the teams out there with a 104-89 over the Cornhuskiers. R. Nash would bounce back with one of his best 30 pts 7-15 3pt. D.C. McGuire would again show he can be a dominant inside force when called upon with his best game of the season 20 pts 14 reb 3 blks.

3rd round- #1 Syracuse 93-73 over #4 USC. Boise State would matchup against Cincinnati in the other side of the bracket.

This would mark the 2nd time the Broncos would get a chance to play against the Bearcats, with the 1st meeting taking place back the 90's at Taco Bell Arena and the Bronocs taking a loss. However things have change over the years and its now the Broncos who are a basketball powerhouse. The Bearcats would use a stiffling defense to hold the Broncos to a season low 64 points, but that would still be enough as the Broncos showed they also can play some D.Final Score 64-51

#10 Seton Hall vs #4 Saint Louis
The trip to Glory road contiues for the Pirates of Seton Hall as they beat St Louis 98-87

#2 Boise State vs #1 Syracuse
In what would be another amazing finish, the Broncos would fall behind by 8 early but using a intense fullcourt press they would not only cut the deficit but take a 4 point lead going into the final 50 seconds of the game. The Orange would have no choice but to foul and hope that the Broncos would miss. However that would not be the case as they hold on for a 89-82 victory. R. Nash again showed why is the team captain and COF, as he scores 24 pts including 3-5 3pt and 8-8 FT.

THE YEAR IS OVER FOR 2 TEAMS

Game 1- #1 Wisconsin vs #10 Seton Hall

It was a great year for the Pirates of Seton Hall, however the depth of Wisconsin roster of 5*AA proved to be to much in a 80-73 loss. The Badgers will now wait to see who they will face for the National Championship

Game 2- #2 Boise State vs #9 Indiana
The Dream is over as the Broncos can't erase a 5 point half time deficit. Coach Dezaron and the Broncos would have to turn to fouling in the final minutes and bomb away from downtown in hopes of making a comeback, but their attempts would fall flat as they lose 96-86

After the game we caught up with Coach Dezaron.

Dezaron-"First I must congratulate the University of Indiana. They played a great game and I hope that that great play will continue against Wisconsin in their quest of a N.C. I really felt my guys played their hear out and they have nothing to be ashamed of. I can't think of any other teams in the past 30 yrs who have had the type of year the Broncos had this year. To finish 38-2 was more then I would've ever imagined"

Coach its Andy Katz from ESPN" Rumor has it like its been every year for the past 4 seasons that you are moving on at the end of the year. Is it true?"

Dezaron-"You know Andy its been a amazing year and until I have had a chance to sit down and talk to each of my players individually I will pass on answering the question. So if you will do me a favor, I will have a exclusive interview for you after the National Championship game."

Katz-"Coach you got a deal. Looking forward to it!!!"

WE NOW GO TO A ESPN EXCLUSIVE. A INTERVIEW WITH ANDY KATZ AND COACH DEZARON OF THE BOISE STATE BRONCOS

KATZ-"So Coach the year is over and rumors have been flying around all week. The first one has you taking over at South Florida in the Big East. The second one has you taking over at Auburn in the SEC and yet a third has you rumored as the hand picked replacement for Coach Tubby Smith at the University of Minnesota.

Dezaron-"Well Andy, like I told you I have a team full of underclassmen here in Boise so I felt I owed it to them to let them know first hand what was happening. This is the biggest decision of my life. I grew up a Bronco, I have lived in either Idaho or Washington my entire life except for my brief stops coaching for The Citadel in South Carolina and my 2 years in Texas well coaching at Texas Southern. So a move to Flordia,Alabama or Minnesota is something I had to take awhile to pray about. This is a huge move for me."

KATZ-"Coach from what I have gathered on your background and family history is that you have family in Minnesota."

Dezaron-"Thats is correct Andy. In fact all 3 of my cousins are graduates of the University of Minnesota and 2 of them along with my Aunt and Uncle still live in Minneapolis today. It is because of that relationship, the fact that a coach I respect a great deal for in Tubby Smith and that fact that my entire team supported my move that I have accepted to take over as the next head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers."

Katz-"Well coach let me be the first to congratulate you on the move. However I am sure you already know you have some huge shoes to fill, and I am not just talking about Coach Smith. The University of Minnesota use to be one of the finest basketball programs dating all the way back to 1905."

Dezaron-"Yes I know Andy. The Golden Gophers have had some amazing coaches ( LJ Cooke 28 seasons and a .649 winning positon, John Kundla,Bill Fitch, Bill Mussleman all went on to coach at the NBA level.)And they have also had alot of bad luck and bad decisions.(Coach Clem Haskins and all of this stupid decisions) and the brawl with Ohio State in 72 well at the helm of Mussleman.

KATZ-"So in the past the Golden Gophers have had some amazing players(Mychal Thompson #1 overall pick in the 1979 NBA Draft, Future Hall of Fame Kevin McHale current GM of the Timberwolves and Bobby Jackson of the 1997 Final 4 team) to name a few. What do you plan to do to bring star players back to Minnesota.

Dezaron-"Well Andy I am glad you asked. As you can see from my current roster at Boise State, I do know a thing or two about recruiting. Also with no other in state rivals I plan on keeping the local ballers home. I am going to accomplish this with the help of a current member of Coach Smiths staff. TR Kirkland. TR is a amazing recruiter and has ties to the Midwest something myself and my old staff did not. He has a A rating in Charisma and a B- in Scouting with a overall ranking of B- and at the age of 44 will not have to feel like the old man on campus"

KATZ-"So what Coach will not be coming along? Also who is taking over for you at Boise State?"

Dezaron-" Well Andy. L Winston was my recruiting partner well I was at Boise, and he has been asked to stay on and continue that role for the new coach. The new coach is Bart Lundy who orginally started his coaching career at High Point and in the last 2 yrs have led Jacksonville State to back to back 20 win seasons and 2 NIT berths after a heartbreaking loss in their championship game to Samford who if you remember was our 1st round opponent this year in the Dance. Coach Holbrook will come with me and continue to be my eyes and ears on the bench."

Katz-"So Coach I know it was hard to leave your guys but I bet it was even harder when H. Harrison signed with the Broncos yesterday."

Dezaron-"Actually it was Harrison who helped me make the decision. He told me that it didn't matter if I left, because as soon as he saw Boise and stepped on the court at Taco Bell Arena, he knew he had Blue and Orange running through his veins. I know he is going to make me proud."

Katz-"Well I guess that brings us to the current situation the Gophers and their current roster and scholarship offers."

Dezaron-"You are so correct Andy, only problem is I am going to save that info for my live press conference at Williams Court tommorrow, so I guess you and everyone else will have to learn about it then. Thanks for the time and the chance to share my story. Hopefully we will have a chance to do this again real soon"

WE NOW GO LIVE TO WILLIAMS COURT

Dezaron-Thanks for coming everyone. I know like me you are all excited to find out who is going to be joing the current Golden Gophers as we build the next National Champ here at the University of Minnisota. Let me first tell you that at the begining of the year the Gophers had 3 scholarships to offer and because of Coach Kirklands excellent skills 2 of those spots were taken by early signings.

Our first recruit is a 5* JC SO PG from right here in Minneapolis.
A. Czerny is 6'4 and has a A- shot. He has B- potential and a overall ranking of 69.

Our second recruit was the Mr. BB of Minnesota, again from right here in Minneapolis.
His name is Peter Frey. He is a 3* PG who was rated #132 overall and #33 at his pos. He too has a excellent shot and a overall ranking of 72.

That leaves us to our last scholarship. Most of you know well at Boise even though I had offered my only scholarship to Harrison, I kept close contact to Karon Wilkins a 5* AA from Stockton California. Wilkins was the #11 overall player in the country and #4 at his SG posistion. After several weeks of visits and a visit to Williams Court and our fine Campus here, Wilkins has committed to become Golden Gopher. He becomes the first 5*AA to sign to play for me and with a overall rating of 85 he will be inserted into the lineup starting day 1. I look forward to helping him develope into a productive NBA player.

OTHER RECRUITING INFO
Duke gets the #1 class signing 4-5* Mr. BB AA(they are unreal)
Old Dominion who won 22 games and played in the NIT last year lost almost their entire team and had to recruit 10 players(1-4*,5-3*,4-2*)
Air Force found themselves 9 players short signing 1 4* 6-3* 2-2*
Washington State also will be fielding a new team as they sign 8 players(1-4* 7-3*)

Oh don't worry I plan on keeping everyone up on the Broncos. In fact I plan on scheduling a game against them next season.

First update on the new year.
Broncos are Top 25 ranked #20 heading into the new year.

Coach Dezaron-"Well its about figging time. I wasn't sure if the Broncos would ever get top 25, guess it took my leaving to make it happen :)

Coach Dezaron will have alot of work cut out for him to build off a 13-18 record. The Gophers havn't made the NCAA tourney since 2008. Up next we will check and see what players Coach Dezaron will have for the upcoming season.

Coach Dezaron" I am very happy with the 3pt shooting skills these players already have and with a young and upcoming post presence in Low, I really feel we have the makings of a 20 win team. We might not make the NCAA our 1st year, but I wouldn't count out a trip to the NIT. I also have high hopes for the 3 scholarships I have to offer to incoming players. I will be looking to add some more bigman and hopefully another Shooter to replace Zamore/Wise/Wright"

First off congrats on the move to the power conference. Secondly I am glad you took that job cause I hate Tubby Smith and hope he retired or was fired from the team.

Last at least you don't have to schedule like 8 top 25 teams now to just crack the top 25. Should be an easier road for you now. Congrats on signing Wilkins he looks like a beast. Lets all hope he stays for at least two years.

EARLY SEASON RECRUIT INFO.

Coach Kirkland already had several players under contact. After reviewing the tapes and making a couple of phones calls we have decided to keep 2 of his targets as our top 2 targets. I will use my last scholarship on a player I have been in contact with since his So season well coaching at Boise State.

1) 4* Ekene Martin 6'9 PF from Iowa City IA. He is the #84 overall and #12 at PF. He has A+ Potential and is already at 79% and has Minnesota as his #1 school

2) 4* James Thibodeaux 6'4 SG from Fargo North Dakota. He is the Mr. BB from North Dakota and is the #79 overall player in the nation and #25 at SG. He has a A- Shot and B+ Potential. He is aleady at 77% and Minnesota is his #1 school

3) 5* AA V.T. Towe 6'2 PG from Billings MT. He is the Mr BB from Montana as well as the #3 player in the Nation and #2 PG. Currently he is at 62% and has Minnesota ranked #3 behind Kansas State and Boise State.

Coach Dezaron-"I don't want to sound cockey but I would be surprised if we don't land Martin and Thibodeaux in early season recruiting. I havn't even visited them yet or had them to see The Barn(Williams Arena) and yet they already tell me they want to be a Gopher. Towe on the other hand will be hard to get. I know he really had his heart set on Boise State and when I left Kansas State used that against me to jump in and make their pitch. The fact that they are a top program right now doesn't hurt either. Should Towe decide he doesn't want to be a Gopher, we still have several other local kids who we really like including a 3* 7'0 C. To be honest this is a year in which I wish I had 5 or 6 scholarships to offer because there is a ton of great talent just jumping at the chance to help take the Golden Gophers back to the Elite Programs of the Basketball world.

Next up the Gophers hit the road to take on the #10 Texas

GOPHERS LOSE IN WILDSHOOT OUT IN TEXAS

The talented depth of the Longhorns 10 5* 8 AA and 7 Mr. BB was just to much for Coach Dezaron to handle with his 1st game at the helm of the Golden Gophers. The Longhorns used that deep bench to score 58 points, well the Gophers going with only a 10 man rotation woul only get 35 pts off the bench with the starters having to do most of the action. However it was not bench points that would be the reason for the loss. The fact the Golden Gophers got outrebounded 32-16 and gave up 16 second chance points would be what sealed to their fate. Another huge factor was the fact the Longhorns were unstoppable from the outside hitting 8-16 3pt shots, well the Gophers struggled at 6-16.Final Score 119-108

I PLAYED 15 MINS HALFS BECAUSE I WANTED TO GET A FEEL FOR MY PLAYERS IN THEIR 1ST GAME. I WILL BE SWITCHING BACK TO 13 MINS HALFS FOR THE NEXT GAME

KEY PLAYER STATS

MINNESOTA
K. Wilkins-35 pts 5 asst(Pretty good 1st college game of his career)
M. Modic-18 pts 4 reb

GOLDEN GOPHERS WIN HOME OPENER OVER #7 KANSAS

A close battle throughout the game, it was a tale of opposite # this game. It would be the Golden Gophers who would outrebound 32-21, have 17 second chance points to the Jayhawks 8. These stats and the dominant post play of E. Low where the reason why the Golden Gophers walked away with a 95-91 victory

KEY PLAYER STATS

GOPHERS WIN ON THE ROAD

The Golden Gophers would move to 2-1 with a win over the Pitt Panthers 77-72. In 3 games now Coach Dezaron has had a different high scorer each game. SR PG. O Zamore showed he too can be a viable offensive threat scoring 19 pts grabbing 7 boards and handing out 5 asst.Coach Dezaron was very please with his overall preformance but not so much in his 1-9 3pt shooting. JR PF M. Modica continues to be solid as he scores 18 pts and grabbs 7 boards. True Frosh P. Frey and JC Transfer A. Czerny also got into the scoring act with 13 pts each and both were a perfect 2-2 from 3pt. The Pitt Panthers were led in scoring by SR PG. J. James with 12 pts 3 reb and 5 assist.

NEXT UP THE HEAD TO THE GREAT ALASKA SHOOTOUT.

GREAT ALAKSA SHOOTOUT.

Opening round action paired off the Golden Gophers against the Phoniex of UW-Greenbay[. The Phoniex entered the game with a 1-2 record and playing out of the Horizon conference would prove no match for the mighty Gophers of the Big 10. O. Zamore and M. Modica would again lead the team to victory scoring 15 pts each./I]Final Score 100-79.

[I]Round 2 would offer the Golden Gophers the same result. A matchup against ACC Miama FL currently 2-0 would give Minnesota a bigger name opponent but the outcome was the same as the Golden Gophers behind the hot shooting of SR SG Donnells Wise 25 pts on 5-6 3pt shooting.Final Score 84-64

Championship Action brought us a matchup of Big 10 vs Big 12. The Golden Gophers (4-1) against the (5-0) Kansas State Wildcats. Some of you might remember the Wildcats went to the Elite 8 last year but somehow got left out of the Top 25 Preseason. However this undefeated record will not go unnoticed for long. As the competition gets tougher the Golden Gophers show why they did only win 13 games. Wilkins finally shows back up after a 35 pt preformance against Texas to put up 21 pts against the Wildcats but it wouldn't be enough as the Gophers fall 104-77. The Wildcats where led by Morkelanas 22 pts 5/6 3pt and Blizzards 20 pts 10 reb. So PG Udengalaya also had a solid game with 17 pts 8 reb and 15 asst.

I only scored 25 pts in the 1st half. Man was I off today.

MINNESOTA (4-2) NOW HEAD TO CAMERON INDOOR STADIUM TO TAKE ON THE DUKE BLUE DEVILS.

The Broncos are currently 4-1 with there only loss a season opener on the road against #4 Oregon. Two of their wins come against more Pac-10 teams on the road in Arizona St and Cal. They play 2 more Pac-10 teams in the next 6 days with a visit to USC and a home game against Oregon St.

Nice to see them playing well and nice to see that the A.D. Still loves to schedule those tough non-conference games. Hope they can handle it.

I was worried about the same thing, but I actually have been playing all day for the most part(Have to take advantage of my last day of vacation and with the wife sick there is not much else to do.) So you will soon see I have made it through my non confernence schedule and Wilkins cools off quite a bit. However I must admitt I won't be to sad if he goes pro after 2 years. GOLDEN GOPHERS UPSET THE BLUE DEVILS ON THEIR HOME COURT.

Both teams entered the game with a 4-2 record but with Dukes amazing roster of 9 All Americans, this will go down as one of the biggest upsets of the year. In what was a defensive battle all night it would come down to the final seconds as Coach Dezaron draws up the winning play.

Dezaron-"6.2 seconds left, down by 2. Wilkins you have been hot all night so I figure Coach K is going to double you as soon as you get the ball. Low you have been a force down low and if we were playing at home right now I would say lets pound it in and go to O.T.. However we are not home and his is probably the most hostile crowd I have seen. So this is what we are going to do............"

Back in the game- Modica in bounds the ball to Wilkins. He dribbles to the left and spots Antwan Wright in the corner all alone setting up for the winning shot. 3 seconds left. The ball hits Antwan and its up and away... Nothing but net!!! Gophers win Gophers win!!!!! Final score 61-60
The fans go crazy and start pelting the Gophers with trash, we catch up to Coach Dezaron and the Gophers in the saftey of the visiting locker room.

Reporter #1-Coach that was huge even though the Blue Devils were unranked that will have to definetly be a huge confindence boost...

Dezaron-Thanks and yes you are correct, I believe that itd wins like those that tell you what type of team you are and what direction you are headed.

Reporter #2-Coach alot of Coaches would've played to tie and try and win it in overtime, why is it that you went for the win?

Dezaron-I have always been like that all the way back to my playing days in high school. I stick to the belief that if you are at home and the crowd has your back then you play it safe get the tie and get your win in OT. However when you are on the road with a tough crowd(doesn't get any tougher then Cameron Stadium.) then you take a chance and go for the win. This team is so blessed with 3 point shooters, that I have no problem handing over game winning shots to any of them.

Reporter #1-Coach what made you pick Wright?? He is your 6th man. I would've though you would have atleast gone with Zamore or Wilkins.

Dezaron-Antwan has been one of our most clutch 3pt shots so far on the year. It was going to be either him or Frey and I thought it was best to pick the senior who has been in these type of situations before. Frey will get his chances though as he has shown he is probably our best 3 pt shooter.

Well thanks for stopping by for the chat, but I got to get these guys back on the bus back to Minniapolis. We face one of the hottest teams in the nation in two days in the Xaiver Musketeers.

RECRUITING UPDATE.

In season recruiting has ended and like Coach Dezaron predicted. The Gophers sign 2 players early.Ekene Martin and James Thibodeaux. Both players will great additions to this already young team. Coach Dezaron is also happy to say that V.T. Towe the #3 player in the Country has decided that playing for Coach Dezaron is what he actually wanted and not the thrill of being in Boise. He has moved up to 74% and has moved the Gophers to #2 on his board. Currently Kansas State is #1 but didn't offer a scholarship. So Coach Dezaron will have all season to convinice Towe to be a Gopher. The Broncos however still #3. but they are slipping as Arizona moves into the mix at #4.

Man, I haven't been to a Vandals game since what, two or three years ago when they were in that limbo stage and were stuck in the Big West conference before leaving for that one year in the Sun Belt, and Cal Poly came for senior night, and man was that the worst game I had ever attended, but it was five years prior to that when I attended a game, that was back in the Big sky days, the season after Boise left for the WAC.

UP NEXT THE GOPHERS FACE COACH SMITHS FORMER TEAM THE KENTUCKY WILDCATS.

I decided to keep this game in memory of what Coach Smith tried to do for the Golden Gophers. Kentucky entered the game with a 3-4 record, but they played like the Wildcats of 1996. They were unstoppable from downtown hitting 8/16, led by McFarlands 18 pts 7 asst and Blevins 11 pts on 3/4 3pt shooting. The Golden Gophers would fire back with one of the top freshman in the country KaRon Wilkins 21 pts 6 reb and SO sensation E. Lows 17 pts 9 reb and 3 blks, and sharpshooter FR P Freys 16 pts on 4/8 3pt shooting. However this would not prove to be enough as the Gophers fall 89-81

It was then on to the Railroad Classic where Minnisota would find themselves matched up against East Tennessee State in the 1st round. This again would prove to be not much of a challenge as E. Low would score 21 pts and grab 9 rebounds and FR P. Frey continued his hot shooting scoring 17 pts with 4/5 3pt in a 93-63 victory

Round 2 would pit the Golden Gophers against yet another team from Tennessee. This time it was Tennessee Tech. However the results where still the same as 6 players scored doulbe figures and the Golden Gophers close out with a 78-54 win

Cincy-Leaving Boise was very hard. It took me 22 seasons last year before they finally opened up. I couldn't believe I got them after year 2. Had I not been able to dominate like I did so early (Elite 8,National Champ,2-Final 4's) I probably would've stayed. But I am happy with what I accomplished. I just hope they can keep it up. So far so good this year, but I will be sad if they can't keep it up. I am really loving Minnesota so far though. I am excited to get into Big 10 play. Its not the ACC or Big East but there is still alot of good teams to battle against. I plan on making this a home for awhile, but my heart still loves the West Coast, so I am sure I will be back there somwhere to finish out my career. Who knows maybe I will be able to make it back to Boise and earn that Life time Contract.

COACH DEZARON GETS HIS REVENGE.

In the rematch of Coach Dezaron vs the Hoosiers of Indiana, it was Coach Dezaron and his Golden Gophers that come out the winner.Final score 82-80

The game came down to the wire with the Hoosiers hitting a big 3 to tie the game at 80-80. However there was still 32 seconds left and for Coach Dezaron that is just to much time to give him. After advancing the ball to half court, the Golden Gophers call time, so Coach Dezaron can set up the winning play.

Coach Dezaron-"Okay guys well this is what its like to play big time basketball. Modica you have been unstoppable all night in the paint, so I am going to guess they will double you as soon as we throw it in. As soon as you see the double team I want you to dish it it Low. Eddie will take the winning shot."

The play would not go off as Coach Dezaron had hoped. Wilkins inbounds to Frey who then gave it back to Wilkins for a drive to the hoop, but as the defenders closed in he dished it to Low who in turn did a give and go back to Wilkins for the winning dunk. However the Hoosier wouldn't go down so easy and they send Wilkins flying to his back. However KaRon Wilkins is a 90% FT shooter and would hit both to give the Golden Gophers the lead with 3.2 secons left. After intense pressure on the inbound play the Hoosiers would fail to even get off a shot. Game over and the Golden Gophers are well on their way to becoming a super power in the Big Ten.

GOPHERS LOSE FIRST BIG 10 MATCHUP.

The Golden Gophers would play their hearts out, but fall short. Dezaron stressed playing as a team and not allowing people to concentrate all the defense on All American K. Wilkins. The Gophers would answer that challenge with 4 players scoring double digits. However it was Penn States A. Camara that would not be stopped. Camara matched his season avg with 27 pts and 5 reb.Final score 78-77.

KEY STATS
Wilkins-15pts 4 asst
Zamore-13 pts 2/3 3pt
Modica-14pts 5 reb
Frey-10 pts 1/3 3pt

Besides Camara big game the Lions would also get 14 pts on 3/4 3pt shooting from Linderman.

GOLDEN GOPHERS REBOUND FROM LOSS WITH BLOWOUT WIN.

Minnesota would use hot shooting from behind the arc and a big game from a unlikely source to win and increase their record to 3-1 in the Big 10 and 12-4 overall.Final score 99-56

I was hoping that would be the case, but Penn States center Camara is so dominate. I couldn't shut him down. Oh well can't win them all, at least I took out my frustrations on Purdue. Looking forward to kicking Ohio State well their down. :)

tough Big 10 debut with the close loss to Penn State. I think we all are rooting for you to add to the struggles of Ohio State after the debacle where Coach Ryan's brother was tossed from the game and the "bumped ... no-foul called" in the Air Force game. Give em what they deserve!!

Overall I don't think they are that great their record is decieving as they had no quality wins before beating me. Most of the Big 10 was that way scheduling small schools just to get wins. Illinois had the best non conference wins over Texas and BC and Northwestern had 4 loses but atleast they were to Texas,Georgetown, and Duke.

Well the nice thing about that win was it was on the road in Columbus. So next time we see them it will be at home in the Barn. Like I said before though the Buckeyes are not the team they once were. Looks like Wisconsin,Michigan,Michigan State and Illinois are the teams to beat this year, along with Indiana of course. However without a true instate rival, Wisconsin and Ohio State have taken on that role for the team in the past, but for Coach Dezaron it will always be those dreaded Hoosiers.

Well at least Skar should be happy to know his Hoosier have been a dominant team in my legacy. The problem I have with them is they took be out in the Elite 8 in yr 3 at Boise and then did it again last year to me in the Final 4. So they along with Texas(seem to lose to them every year too) and Washington(they stole all my recruits when I was in Boise) are my arch enemies. I respect them all as programs, but my wish list is a win over them every year :)

13,000 FANS SHOW UP TO WITNESS THE GOLDEN GOPHERS DEFEAT THE #21 RANKED BADGERS

Minnesota and Wisconsin have a heated rivarly that dates back to the early 1900's. This matchup has become a annual Border War. However today under the guidence of 1st yr Gopher Coach Dezaron, it would be the Golden Gophers who would get a leg up on winning the Border War Trophey. The Bagders had the high game scorer in Z. Israel 26 pts on 4/4 3pt shooting, but it was sophmore sensation E. Low and his 24 pts 8 rebounds and 2 blocks that would help his team take the win. Final Score 85-78

WISCONSIN

NEXT UP THE (14-4) GOPHERS TRAVEL TO PLAY (10-4) NORTHWESTERN

The Gophers would bring out the broom as they swept the Wildcats under Coach Dezaron 1st year at the helm. Freshman phenom K. Wilkins continues to be the leader that the Golden Gophers needed as he scores a team high 17 pts.Final Score 68-67

OTHER KEY STATS

NORTHWESTERN

Hoskins 12 pts
Nixon-12 pts 2/3 3pt
Begley-13 pt 5 reb

After the game we caught up with Coach Dezaron.

Dezaron"I am disappointed in my men tonight. We had a 7 point lead with under a minute to play and they let down there defense and allowed Nixon to hit those 2 big 3's. Had there been more time left, we would be leaving with a loss tonight. This team is going to need a better preformance then that it we expect to win at Illinois."

NEXT UP MINNESOTA (15-4) FACE OFF AGAINST (11-6) ILLINOIS

GOPHERS ESCAPE ILLINOIS WITH CLOSE WIN

A wild shootout as the Gophers use 10/16 3pt shooting to counter attack Illinois 8/19 from downtown. SR A. Wright got extended playing time again with his 2nd game with 18 pts on 4/5 3pt shooting.Final Score-80-75

The Golden Gophers would also get solid play from SO E. Low 18 pts 4 reb and JR M Modica 13 pts 7 reb. Illinois had 5 players score in double figures with A. Archibald leading the way with 15 pts. But where unable to hold onto a 4 point 1st half lead, Minnesota would outscore Illinois 48-39 in the 2nd half.

NEXT UP THE GOLDEN GOPHERS HEAD BACK TO THE BARN TO PLAY A TALENTED (13-4) IOWA TEAM.

Coach Lickliter has a reputation for building great programs after leading Butler to a NCAA berth in 2007, he took over for the Hawkeyes. Since then he has done a amazing job at recruiting players and currently has 12-5* recruits playing for the Hawkeyes. However tonight he would run into a hot shooting Golden Gophers team who again would shoot 50% from 3pt, to win the game 86-70

KEY GAME STATS

Frey-16 pts 5 reb 4/6 3pt

I sure hope so too. Both Michigan and Michigan St were TOP 25 preseason and Wisconsin was ranked #21 last time I played. Those are my next 3 games. I would be happy to walk away with 2 of 3 wins from those guys. My preseason goals where 20 wins and a NCAA bid, so far looks like 20 should come pretty easy and being in the top 25 pretty much means I will will probably get at 5-7 seed, so how I am hoping for a top 15 finish and a # 4 seed or better.

Looking forward to seeing some more wins for the Blackbirds.

What are you trying to say? That the rest of us are not even good coaches cause we can't bring in more than 5,000 people a game. I am hurt you would put this up.

Good job on that man at least someone can get people to come watch his team play. Did you give away 55 free beers or something to get that?
