looks like you have some good guards (wow - Haas the freshman!) and a super go-to guy at center.
solid schedule too -- Pacific is tough (check out the games where I played them in my legacy. I think they have 3 players who make the all-Big West team!!!).
San Diego State is always tough at home too (ran into them with UCR and also TCU in last year's legacy). S.Illinois is also good, but I don't wanna talk about them just yet. Killer road stretch in November - by December you should know what your team is made of.
as for your write-ups - my suggestion is to write the kind of stuff you like to read.
Most of us like to make a connection with the players - so little behind the scenes stories and/or stats from the game. not necessarily a play-by-play but who did good for us (too stats-driven can become drab). Everyone seems to have thier own style, and each one seems to work.
Good luck to you -- looking forward to the first game with Pacific.

i accidently hit 77 when i was supposed to hit 74(i use the number pad thing)...and that overall is kind of deciving(he lacks a lot on the defensive side) & there will be probably a story about him coming...like they do on college game day on ESPN
thanx for the advice on the write ups

Season Opener
http://www.uscho.com/images/logos/wmu.gif Western Michigan Broncos(0-0) vs. Pacifc Tigers(0-0)http://www.stocktongov.com/graphics/uoptiger.gif
this was a low scoring affair, in which bench players came to play. in the first half it went back & forth with the biggest lead to Pacific when they went up 16-7. at half time, Western Michigan's Hairston(who came off the bench) had 5pts & 7 rebounds. on Pacific's side CJ Morgan lead Pacific with 7 points & 1 assist. the halftime score was 22-18.
In the 2nd half, Western Michigan went on a 10-3 run to go up 28-25 and that was about as fast paced as the entire game was. In the end Morgan was just to much for Western Michigan to handle, even though they had their chances to win it on the end, but just couldn't knock the shot down to send it to overtime.

post-game interview
Reporter: Coach, how do you feel about this loss?
Coach: It's a tough loss, we played fairly well defensivly and had our chances to win, but we shot terribly.
Reporter: What do you feel you & your team will have to improve on?
Coach: Shooting definitly, and we have to communicate more on defense, there wasn't much of that which led to open 3 pointers for them which they knocked down.
Reporter: How will you prepare for your next game against Pepperdine?
Coach: Now that we have a game under our belt, we will be able to go over the game tape and improve on the things we have to improve on. But other than that, we're going into our next game like we did this one and will every one...0-0.
Reporter: Thank you for your time.
Coach: No problem.

Game 2
1st Half: In the first half it was a back & forth game with the biggest lead at 4 points for both teams. Pepperdine's Dustin Head lead all scorers with 10 points(coming off the bench). Both teams didn't take care of the ball very well, they had a combined 20 turnovers in the first half. Western Michigan lead 31-29 at halftime.
2nd Half: In the second half, Pepperdine went on a run 15-6 run within' the first 5minutes of the 2nd half. Western Michigan did not loose it's composer, lead by Andre' Hicks, who lead the Broncos in scoring, and with 4 minutes left the Broncos tied the game at 54. This was a better shooting game than the last, but still wasn't great.
2nd Half cont'd:Unlike in the last game, the Broncos were able to hit the shots when it counted. With 1 minute left it was 62-60, Pepperdine in the lead. The Broncos' Andre' Hicks hit a shot & got fouled, but missed the freethrow. Pepperdine took about 25 seconds off the shot clock & game clock before they even decided to shoot or set up a play. That would come back to hurt them as they missed the shot & the Broncos were able to get an open jumper & go up 64-62 with 10 seconds left. They then missed a 3 pointer to win the game.

post-game interview
Reporter: Coach, how does it feel to get your first win of the season?
Coach: Great, now that we have a win under our belt, I think it'll give the team a lot more confidence.
Reporter: Do you think your team will have a 'win hangover' going into your next game against Oregon?
Coach: Of course not, like I said after the last game, we go into every game like we're 0-0.
Reporter: Do you think you will be able to beat Oregon?
Coach: I can't really say, anything can happen in college basketball. Oregon is a great team, no doubt about it, but I think if we can keep our composer, and make them play our game we'll be able to keep it close.
Reporter: Thank you for your time, Coach.

Morgan - If I had to play them again, I think I'd have nightmares of him. Capt. Morgan always brought his "A" game against me.
And those 2 guys aren't even the ones who made All-Big West for them in my legacy!!! (it was Johnson, Brown, and Nunnally - the giant freshman)

Solid win against pep, your lucky they only hit 9 of those 33 shots from behind the arc, that could have been devastating if they would have hit a few more.

Game 3
1st Half: The Broncos went on a 17-6 run to start the game. The Ducks were able to get it to 21-15, but after that the Broncos got going again. Western Michigan was hitting from all cylinders & couldn't be stopped. Freshman PG Haas had 11points & 9 asissts in the first half.(He easily could have had a double double in the first half but was out for 3 minutes) It was 45-28 at halftime, with the Western Michigan on top.
2nd Half: Western Michigan started a little slow in the 2nd half, but after the first few minutes they got going again & never looked back. Oregon's Maarty Leunen played quite well in the 2nd half & he ended with a double double. Tajuan Porter scored basically all of his points late in the 2nd half, but for the most part he shot terrible. The closest Oregon was able to get in the 2nd half was 10 points, and that was late in the 2nd half. 4 of 5 Broncos starters had double digit points

Reporter: How are you feeling after this win?
Coach: I'm at a loss for words, I can't even describe how I feel right now, we played great out there, it was a complete team effort.
Reporter: How good is your team?
Coach: Well, it's still to early to tell fully, but right now, I think we have a pretty good team & I think we can make a run into the tournament come March.
Reporter: Do you think your team will have 'win hangover' after a big win against a top team from a top confrence?
Coach: I hope not, we have Loyola coming up in 4 days, so we won't get much rest & practice & Loyola is a good team, so it'll be tough, but hopefully my guys will come down from heaven so we can exicute against Loyola.

not really much to say about this game. Loyola only lead at 2-0 & 6-5. My back court played terribly on offense, but my big guys were able to pick up the slack. Wi4minutes left in the game, my 2nd team almost bew a 23 point lead. Loyola cut it to 53-40 & then again to 56-43, but after that we got going. We outrebounded them for most of the game untill my 2nd team came in, that's when they got a lot of offensive rebounds & 2nd chances. shockingly, only 2 freethrows were shoot the entire game.

don't feel bad sometimes i will shoot maybe 6 or 7 one game and the next i will shoot like 28 or 29. It just all depends on the team I am playing and where they are weak. Two shots aren't that bad it just all depends on your style of offense and your sliders you play as.

Western Michigan Broncos vs. Detroit Titans...cont'd
2nd Half: Everytime the Broncos scored, Detroit has had an answer. The Broncos' Senior center Reitz, is not playing very well in the 2nd half. Freshman point gaurd Haas on the other hand, is having one of his best games of the season. Detroit has slowly comeback, and took the lead with 5:35 left after a drained three. They were up by as much as 4(57-53), but the Broncos had their answers too. With 57 seconds left, it was 63-61 with the Broncos on top. here is play by play comentation of the 55 seconds...
Commentator: The Titans are trying to steal the ball away from Haas, he is getting away from the double teams & forcing the Titans to play man-to-man. there is about an 11 second differnacial between the game clock & shot clock. Haas fakes out his guy, shoots the 3......and misses, the ball is tipped a few times...and Reitz has it, he is fouled.
The Broncos are going to throw it in with 33.8 left, Haas has it, he quickly passes it to Drews, he shoots......and misses, Detroit has it, they can hold it for the final shot, and that is exactly what Western Michigan should have done. Time winding down here, the final 10 seconds....Haas is gaurding Goode tightly..Goode passes it to Everingham, he shoots the three........and drains it!!!! Titans are up 64-63 with only 4.8 left in the game...oh my what a game this has been, the Broncos will take a time out, we will be back after a quick commerical from our sponsors, please stay tuned to find out who wins this exciting game.

December 16th, 2007, 11:23 PM
Commentator: and we're back, incase you missed it, just a few seconds ago Detroit drained a 3 to take the lead 64-63 with 4.8 left. Drews will inbound the ball to Haas, he takes it down court, shoots from just inside the 3 point line...
NO GOOD..NO GOOD!!! THE TITANS WIN!!! the freshman Corey Haas had a shot to win it, but he is unable too, what a game this has been, I would like to thank all of our sponsers & the people listening to this game tonight. the Final Score Detroit 64 & Western Michigan 63.

i love when it comes down to those last second shot games.....and for some reason, i was thinking i was down 64-61, thats why i was so close to the 3 point line, otherwise it would have been closer to the freethrow line, but hopefully we can bounce back & i'll post stats & stuff tomorrow, i'm going to bed, super tired, and i gotta get up in 5 & a half hours

1st half:Both teams started out sloppy & traded baskets. The biggest lead was 5 points. The Broncos orginal PG Haas isn't that small anymore, so he was moved him to SG to cause miss matches for the opponent. The coach didn't get to tell much if it worked or not cause Haas had to sit out most of the first half becuz of foul trouble. The Broncos' center, Joe Reitz, is having his first challenge of the seaons playing a good, & tall center on the opponents side, and his opponent is winning. Western Michigan got on fire in the last minute to put them up 25-20 at halftime.

2nd half: the Crusadors were able to keep it close, and seemed to get momentum every minute. They took the lead, and the Broncos found themselves fighting from behind, once again. Haas was out for most of the 2nd half, with foul trouble, but the coach had no choice to put him in, and it helped. Then with time winding down, the Crusadors hit their first, and only 3 pointer of the game to tie it at 51. Haas went down and drained a jump shot to put Broncos on top 53-51 with 39.1 left. Valparaiso answered right back & quickly.
2nd Half Cont'd: With 31.8 left, all Western Michigan had to do was run down the clock and go for the game winning shot. Haas had the ball, but got to fancy, and it was stolen, and Valparasio had an easy lay up on the fast break. With only 19.8 left, the Crusadors were on top 55-53. The Broncos gave the ball to him for the final shot again. In case you missed the Western Michigan game against Detroit last week, Haas was the one who had a shot to win the game, but missed the game winning shot. In this game, he winded down the clock, took a jump shot, and missed again.

post game interview
Reporter: For the 2nd game in a row, you let Haas take the last shot, and he missed both, how is he feeling?
Coach: Right now he's crushed and feels that he let the team down, but we all could have done more to win this game.
Reporter: If it comes down to another final shot, will you let Haas take it?
Coach: Of course, and there will be more of them for him to redem himself.
Reporter: This is your 2nd loss in a row after winning 3 straight, what were you doing in those games that your not in these 2?
Coach: We were exicuting in those games, and we aren't in these, simple as that.
Reporter: Thank you for your time

1st Half: Both teams came out shooting terrible, & both teams looked like they were tired. The Broncos are in the middle ofa 4 road game stretch, and it has taking a toll on them, not to mention they lost 2 close games in a row. It was tied at 21 at halftime

Aztecs on the other hand, played exactly like they did in the first half. It only took 5minutes & 10 seconds for Western Michigan to match their total of points in the first half. Freshman PG/SG Corey Haas was on a mission this game after those last 2 games, and he accomplished it.

Post-Game Interview
Reporter: Coach, how does it feel to get this win after loosing 2 straight close games?
Coach: It feels great, I'm extremly happy how we exicuted in the 2nd half.
Reporter: Haas has been putting up a lot of points lately, but his assists have gone done, is that what you wanted from him?
Coach: Well, I wanted him to get more points, but I would also like to see him having about 6 assists a game also, I would also like to see our senior center Reitz get more points also, if you didn't know, he didn't score at all in the 2nd half.
Reporter: Do you think you will be able to put up another 3 game win streak?
Coach: Hopefully we can, hopefully we can have a few of them, and end up making the NCAA tourney come March.
Reporter: Thank you for your time.

lol, i didn't even put in the halftime score, forgot to(it was 21-21 at halftime)
and i never thought he would be doing this good, i figured he'd be avg. about 7 assists a game and maybe 5 points, and i figured my center would be having those stats, but he has been struggling lately

vs.
http://www.globalgolf.com/images/team/40-logo.jpgNorthwestern Wildcats (2-5)
1st Half: Western Michigan came in this game & faced something they haven't faced yet this year, a fullcourt press done often. To win this game, they would have to adjust ,and adjust fast. Norhtwestern got up to an 11 point lead in the first half, but the Broncos would cut into that lead. With 8.3 left to go, Drews fired up a 3, but missed, Laku got the rebound put it back up, missed, got the rebound again and just barely got it off before the buzzer & made it to cut the lead to 34-32 at half.

After being down 41-34 to start the 2nd half, the Broncos came right back, and with 5:30 left in the game, the got the lead after Redell drained a 3 to put them up 49-48. WIth under a minute to go, the Broncos had a chance to ice the game & go up 66-60, but Gary missed the shot. Craig Moore came down & drained a 3 with 19.8 left to pull the Wildcats within' 1(64-63). u spelled the last name wrong....and yeah he is created, i always create a guy when i start, unless i'm with a big time school, and i usually don't create one when i start from the way bottom...but if i'm in between like i am now, i create a 3 point shooting type of player...i'm a 3 point type/offensive of guy & like to have them..it's like a trademark thing...it's not like i make him perfect
and i mite update tonite, and if i do, it'll probably be an ugly game, becuz Duke just lost after Fields drained a 3 with 4.7 left to give Pitt the 65-64win

well i think its better to have a created person on your team (if he is cause now I am confused on the whole thing) than playing as a small school who barely wins 10 games a year and someone wins back-to-back championships with them the first 2-3 years. That is when people won't follow.
Keep doing what you do. I don't think it was a big deal otehr than WMU45 must really like or follows the team and had a question about it. I am still following though.

1st half: Right off the bat the Broncos got off to a quick start. It was the fastest paced game they have played all year. But the Jaguars were not going to get blown out at home. They answered everything the Broncos threw at them. The Broncos trailed at halftime 37-34.
2nd half: The 2nd half started exactly where the first half left off. Back & forth the Broncos & Jaguars traded baskets. For most of the game the Jaguars shot flawless from behind the arc, untill late in the 2nd half when they started to struggle. The Broncos' Reitz had played a lot better than his previous few games, he even scored double digit points, along with 3 other Broncos. That is what helped the Broncos pull away at the end.

vs.
http://www.techsideline.com/thumbs/logos/southern_illinois_logo.jpgSouthern Illinois Salukis (3-4)
1st half: This game was just like the other one, starting out very fast paced. Both teams also shot extremely well. The thing that hurt the Broncos was the standout freshman Haas was in foul trouble, and didn't play much in the first half. On the flip side, Salukis' Joshua Bone had a tremendous first half. At halftime he had 20 points, which was more than half of Southern Illinois' total. The Broncos had a chance to tie it at half time but got a 3 second violation. Southern Illinois was up 38-36 at halftime.
2nd half: In the 2nd half, the Broncos looked like their coach really got to them. They came storming back, and for the last part of the 2nd half lead. They completely shut down Bone who only had 5 second half points. 3 of the Broncos' starters combined for 40 points, 21 rebounds, 13 assists, & 9 steals. The Broncos passed the ball well to eachother, which helped them get the open shot & shoot a high percentage.

1st half: Coming into this game, the Broncos knew they had their work cut out for them on the boards. It started as a slow paced game, and then all of a sudden the Broncos took off. They shot extremly well, it looked like they were continuing from last weeks game. They were up by double digits rite before half they turned it over which led to a layup to pull Iona within 9 points. 38-29 at halftime.
2nd half: It took 3minutes & 38 seconds for Iona to even score. Mean while the Broncos had put up 16 to go up 54-31. But that's were the Broncos would start to struggle, they missed shot after shot after shot. But they were able to maintain roughly a 20 point lead, and the starters went out. Iona kept coming back though, and the Broncos just kept struggling offensivly. Finally Broncos' Coach had to put in starting SG Shawntes Gary to ice the game, and even he couldn't completely stop Iona. Iona ended the game going on a 19-5 run. Lucky enough for Western Michigan they had built a strong enough lead earlier in the game.

Reporter: Coach, how do you feel after your 5th straight win?
Coach: Honestly, I'm super ****ed off. We had a huge lead, and only won by 10 POINTS!! We got out rebounded by almost as many rebounds as we HAD!! Most of the shots they did miss were easy shots that a blind retarded monkey could make!! If my players think this will do, they have another thing coming. Western Michigan Broncos Coach Hawkins is in some deep water after he had made a comment about his players. After their 69-59 win over Iona. His comments after the game...
Honestly, I'm super ****ed off. We had a huge lead, and only won by 10 POINTS!! We got out rebounded by almost as many rebounds as we HAD!! The head of the Athletic Department at Western Michigan University had this to say..
Coach Hawkins had lost his temper. We all do, he didn't truly mean anything by the "blind retarded monkey" comment nor did he make the team run untill they puked
Tonight Western Michigan takes on the Davidson Wildcats, a well known Mid-Major team. We'll have to see if any of this will distract the Broncos from winning tonight.

http://detfootball.files.wordpress.com/2007/09/wmu.gif Western Michigan Broncos (8-3) vs. Davidson Wildcats (4-4)http://www.bluegatco.com/images/s/ColLogo/dav.gif
1st half: It started off as a slow game with Davidson on top. But after the outstanding freshman, Corey Haas, scored 12 straight points, the Broncos took off. They got their biggest lead of the half at 34-22. It looked like Davidson was able to cut the lead to single digits after a Bronco turnover, but the Broncos were able to get the ball upcourt and make a buzzer beating 3 to go up 47-36 at halftime. The only things that were keeping Davidson in the game were their 3 point shooting(they shot 44%) and the Broncos were in foul trouble.
2nd half: Usually in the 2nd half of games, Western Michigan slowl down a lot, but not this time. They did everything perfect in this game. Their biggest lead was 34 points, which they got late in the 2nd half. Davidson's Curry was shut down this entire game, while on the Broncos side, 5 of their players had double digit points.

Western Michigan Broncos (9-3)
vs.
http://images.sportsline.com/images/cbss/ui2/logos/collegebasketball/160x100/NIL.gif
Northern Illinois Huskies (4-8)
1st half: Ever since that Northwestern game, Western Michigan has been a faster tempo offense that worked very well in the first half. This game against the Huskies was no different. The Broncos did everything perfect excpet for maybe rebounding. While for the Huskies, they struggled at everything. The Broncos Michael Redell came ready to play as he almost had a double double by halftime. The Huskies only shot 34% at half while the Broncos shot 56%. It was 40-21 at halftime.
2nd half: Now ever since that Northwestern game, the Broncos always struggle in the second half, but usually pull away right at the end. While the Huskies were doing everything right, the Broncos, like usual, were struggling. It seemed like they figured it would be a blow out just cause they were up by 19. Northern Illinois fought back and a numerous amount of times cut the lead to 8(the first time being with about 6 minutes to go). With 4:24 left, Redell got his triple double, and the Broncos were up 52-42& thats what got the Broncos going. To end the game Western Michigan went on 17-7 run.

it's easy to get caught up in your team - I know I do. then something interesting happens and I think to make note of it (strange new team gets ranked, or notice one of the legacy teams did well in a holiday or preseason tourney). I don't know if anyone cares about those, but I just include them at some point.

Western Michigan Broncos (10-3)
vs.
http://images.sportsline.com/images/cbss/ui2/logos/collegebasketball/160x100/EMI.gif
Eastern Michigan Eagles( 4-8 )
1st half: This was a slower paced game, but the Broncos were hitting their shots. That's why they are the best shooting team in the country(percentage wise). For the most part Eastern Michigan was able to keep up. Untill the Broncos ended half on an 18-4 run. Haas was out for most of the first half because of foul trouble. The Broncos shot 55% while the Eagles shot 29%. It was 35-21 at halftime.
2nd half: Like usual, the Broncos played horrible int he 2nd half. With about 8 minutes left, the Eagles pulled within 8 at 50-42 & it took them 5 shots to do it. Then in just40 seconds it was 50-46. The Broncos, lead by Drews, were able to take a 58-48 lead with 6 minutes left. By this time, Eastern Michigan's PG Carlos Medlock was on fire. Then the Broncos worst nightmare happened, 5:19 left Haas got his 4th foul. Then with 3:45 left Eastern Michigan pulled within 3 at 60-57. With 2:55 left, it was just a 1 point game at 62-61. At this point in the game, Haas was forced to come back in with 4 fouls. Then with 1:45 they took their first lead since it was 2-0 at 64-62.
2nd half cont'd:Haas missed a shot to tie the game, and we were down 68-64 with only 43.7 left. After another Haas miss(by this point in the game his confidence was way down), Reitz was able to tip it in with 35.6 left to pull the Broncos within 2(68-66) Then the Broncos were forced to foul & Haas fouled out. The Eagles sank their free throws & the game was over, or so they thought. With 10.1 left, the Broncos Drew hit a 3 to make the score 73-69 & then got the steal on the inbound and put up a quick layup with 7.8 to make it 73-71. But then the Broncos were not able to foul right away and 4 seconds ticked off the clock & the Eagles sank their freethrows.

Post-Game Interview
Reporter: How are you feeling after your 7 game win streak was snapped?
Coach: I don't feel great, it was a tough loss for us.
Reporter: How do you think your team played?
Coach: We played amazing in the first half like we've done all year. It's the second half we need to work on. I don't know what the problem is in the second half, we just loose focus or something.
Reporter: Your next game is in 4 days, will your team be able to focus on Ball State after a tough loss like this?
Coach: Hopefully we can, this loss is in the past now, we can't sit here and think about it, that will not change the fact that we choked in the second half. I'm not taking anything away from Eastern Michigan, they are a great team, but we've let nearly everyteam we played back into the game in the second half.
Reporter: After Haas fouled out with 35 seconds left, what was going through your mind?
Coach: That we still had a chance to win this game, even when we were down by 73-66 with about 15 seconds left, we were able to cut it to a 73-71 game with just 7 seconds left. We were just not able to foul the fast enough and they were able to take precious seconds off the clock.
Reporter:Thank you for your time.

Quick Game Recap: It was close for about the first 5-6 minutes before we exploded. Western Michigan was up at halftime 44-28. The Broncos' center, Joe Reitz had by far the best game of this season. Usuallyin the 2nd half, Western Michigan slows down, and the opponent creeps back in, well it looked like that was about to happen, but the Broncos didn't let that happen. Western Michigan was also on fire from behind the arc, shooting 45%.

Toledo Rockets(3-12)
Quick Game Recap: It looks like the Broncos didn't even slow down from their game just 3 days earlier. They again were on fire from 3 point land, and they ended up making more than their opponent shot. Freshman Haas had a huge first half with 19 points. It was 37-22 at halftime. In the 2nd half, the Broncos didn't even think twice of slowing down, they just kept right on scoring at will.
Quick Game Recap Cont'd: Haas didn't score at all in the 2nd half, but still led all scorers. The Broncos had 5 players in double digit points, 2 of them from off the bench. The Rockets had 3 in double digit points. It really seemed like either Toledo weren't fast enough, good enough, or they were just plain tired. Maybe it was all 3. It seems like the Broncos are on a mission & i would not want to get in there way.

Halftime Report
1st Half Recap: Western Michigan tried a different approach this game, instead of having an up tempo offense, Coach Hawkins decided to slow it down and instead of trying to just simply out score teams, try & play some good defense. During the entire first half it was back & forth, both teams trading shots. The biggest lead of the entire game was 3, which at one point both teams lead by that. Freshman sensation Haas was held to only 4 points. He was held to only 20% shooting & 0-3 from behind the arc.

Game Recap
2nd Half: Western Michigan came out of the 2nd half, and dominated. They lead the entire 2nd half. The closest Central Michigan got after the first minute or so was 5 points. The Broncos lead by as much as 13 in the 2nd half. They were up 68-55 with just about a minute to go when Giordan Watson drained a 3, which was only their 2nd made of the entire game, to pull the Chippewas within 10. They got a steal and Watson got a fastbreak layup to make it an 8 point game. Western Michigan's Redell missed an easy shot, which really gave hope to Central Michigan, but they wasted to much time & opportunities on what would be their final possession to pull any closer.

nice solid win, you should be sitting very very pretty to win your conference as you will at least split with them.
and a question for Haas:
Do you feel you have a solid shot at the MAC freshman of the year? and any projections for post season play?
jjredick4
December 30th, 2007, 12:36 AM
Haas: yeah i should have a pretty good chance at winning it, i don't think there is any other MAC freshman putting up the numbers i am. I may even have a shot at winning freshman of the year. haha. I think we will make the NCAA tournament, and we should have a good little run in it. Our lack of schedule strength will probably become a big factor once it is tourney time.

well good I knew I wasn't that dumb. Anyways I was a little hurt when you said C. Michigan was the biggest game of the year. In my season its like every "next" game is huge cause everyone is so clustered together in the standings that each game can propel you into first place.

i'll probably have a bigger one coming up lol(depending on how the other teams in the conf. are doing) but that was probably the biggest of the year so far...right now 4 teams are tied with a conf. record of 5-1(Miami OH is one of them)

Western Michigan Broncos (13-4)
vs.
http://images.sportsline.com/images/cbss/ui2/logos/collegebasketball/160x100/KENT.gif
Kent State Golden Flashes (8-10)
1st half: Western Michigan like most games started off a little slow, and actually for the entire first half didn't play to well. The only thing that was saving them was 3 point shots(they shot 66% in the first half) They even had their lead extended to double digits at one point(35-22). But Kent State's gaurds, Jordan Mincy & Chris Singletary looked like they were too fast for the Broncos back court. They were able to keep Kent State in the game & even cut the lead to single digits right before half. The Broncos worst nightmare happened just before halftime, in the midst of Kent State trying to cut into Western Michigan's double digit lead, their star freshman player, Haas went down with a dislocated finger. The Broncos lead 35-26 at halftime.
2nd half: Haas did not start the 2nd half, and that led to Kent State going on a 16-5 run to start the 2nd half. Then after that, it was back & forth with lead changes. Since Haas wasn't playing much, Kent State was able to focus more on the inside game of the Broncos, and completely dominated them there. After the Broncos took a timeout when Kent State took a 52-51 lead, Haas came into the game. He was given the ball, attempted a 3, and he was fouled, but he missed all 3 freethrows, which shows how bad the injury was bothering him. The Broncos were able to pull away at towards the end lead by Gary. Kent State would not go away though, after the Broncos went on a 13-4, the Flashes came right back. With under a minute to go, all the Broncos had to do was hit there freethrows & the game would be sealed, but they couldn't do it, and the Flashes had their own chances to come back, but they couldn't hit their shots.

Buffalo Bulls (7-11)
1st half: Western Michigan's freshman star Haas did start this game even though he has a dislocated finger. After the first 8 & a half minutes the score was tied at 14 a piece. Then Western Michigan exploded going on an 8-0 run. The Bulls would not go down easily, they fought back and brought it to 27-24 and had a chance to pull closer but missed. Haas then put up a 3 at the other end and drained it right at the buzzer to put Western Michigan up 30-24.
2nd half: In the 2nd half, it was just a one sided game. Western Michigan completely dominated Buffalo. Buffalo was out scored in the 2nd half 38-21. Haas scored 4 points with in the first few minutes of the 2nd half, but didn't score the rest of the game. Buffalo's Andy Robinson lead all scorers with 15 points. Western Michigan's Silver Laku had a break out game. What started out as a close game, ended up being a blow out

Game Recap: Right from the begining you could tell it was not gonna be a good game for Bowling Green. With in about 5-6minutes, their PG went out with a broken finger, and their star SG went out with foul trouble. They couldn't shoot to save their life in the first half. On the other side of the ball, Western Michigan's Haas had a great first half scoring 13 points. The Broncos lead 42-22 at halftime. In the 2nd half, the Falcons shot a lot better, and played better. Their PG came back & their SG stayed out of foul trouble. But the lead was to much to overcome and the Broncos kept on rolling lead by their captain, Joe Reitz. About 10 seconds into the 2nd half, the Broncos subbed in their 2nd team & that's basically how the entire game was. Western Michigan's bench scored almost half of their total points.

Akron Zips (8-12)
1st Half: Both Akron & Western Michigan are almost identical teams. They both can score, and score fast & we seen that in the first half. Haas was back to his old self he had 10 points at halftime along with 6 rebounds & 4 assists. Akron had answers for everything Western Michigan did & Western Michigan had answers for everything Akron did. The entire first half was very fast paced & very sloppy. The Broncos lead 37-31 at half.
2nd Half: In the 2nd half, Akron started to struggle more & weren't able to hit their shots when they needed to. The Broncos were able to have a consistant lead of about 8 to 13 points, with their biggest lead being the margin of victory. This game was a lot closer than the final score indicates. Akron pulled with in 7 after Nate Linhart drained a 3. But that must have gotten on the Broncos nerves as they would go on a 22-6 run to end the game.

Ohio Bobcats (12-9)
1st Half: To start the game, the Bobcats went on an 11-0 run. Western Michigan had to fight from behind the entire first half. Their center Joe Reitz was out for most the first half 'cause of foul trouble. But Haas was able to help bring the Broncos back, but this was going to be a team effort. Ohio was dominating on the inside. The Broncos were able to come back & even take the lead 38-34 at halftime.
2nd Half: In the 2nd half the Bobcats got off to a great start, and the Broncos spent most the time trying to fight back. Ohio's Bubba Walther shot 50% from behind the arc, and made most of their 3 pointers. The Broncos were forced to put Haas on Walther to stop him. For awhile it was basically a fast break game, with the Broncos throwing the inbound ball to halfcourt or beyond, and them shooting right away & then the Bobcats coming down and taking a little more time but not much which caused for an exciting 2nd half. The Broncos were able to keep pace with Ohio & even took the largest lead of the game 68-61. It looked like the Broncos were gonna do what they've done so many times and pull away right at the end, but not this time.
2nd Half Cont'd: It was 74-68 with just over a minute left, Haas had a chance to put the nail in the coffin, but couldn't do so, then Ohio got an easy layup to pull with in 4. All the Broncos had to do was hold onto the ball and make there free throws ...but they couldn't even get passed half court. Redell was stripped and Ohio got an easy layup. score now 74-72. Redell tried to pass the ball to Hershberger but the pass was intercepted right away and Ohio got another easy layup to tie the game. By this time there was under 10 seconds to go, they got the ball inbounded this time. Haas took it up court, crossed over...took the shot just inside the 3 point line and............drained it.

Miami(OH) Redskins (10-10)
1st Half: After a hard fought victory just a couple days ago, everyone knew coming into this game it probably won't be very fast paced & it wasn't. Through out the first half, like the past few games, it would be going back & forth. Miami had the lead early, but Western Michigan came storming back, and lead most of the first half. Their biggest lead was 7 points, which they did a couple times. But the Redskins would continuely come back. Haas only had 6 points in the first half, he only took 2 shots, and they were both 3 pointers. It was 31-26 at halftime, the Broncos on top
2nd Half: The 2nd half was exactly like the first half, back & forth. This was another sloppy game, and especially sloppy for Western Michigan which has been happening the past few games. The Broncos had tightened up the defense half way through the second half and went on a 14-4 run, which made it look like it was going to be another 2nd half blow out. But the Redskins were able to come back and pull with in single digits after they drained one of their three made 3 pointers to make the score 50-43.
2nd Half Cont'd:It was 55-48 with under a minute to go, so the Redskins were forced to turn up the defensive pressure & foul as fast as they could. That would work as they forced 3 turnovers in a row to make it 55-54. Haas had turned the ball over 10 times, 2 times in the final minute, but he was able to make up for that as he made 2 freethrows with 8 seconds left to make it 57-54. The Redskins would then miss a 3 with 1 second left, but forced a turnover on the inbound pass, but failed to actually shoot the ball.

Northern Illinois Huskies(6-17)
1st Half: It seems like these teams now have the Broncos figured out. The first half was sluggish, turnovers & very poor shooting. Haas had 13 points at halftime, thanks to him making three 3 pointers. Northern Illinois went up right away 7-2, but as soon as Western Michigan got the lead, they held it for the entire first half. The Huskies brought the score to 20-19, but the Broncos scored 7 straight points. The score at halftime was 31-25.
2nd Half: The Broncos went on an 11-4 run, but the Huskies answered right back going on an 11-0 run of their own. Everytime the Broncos would get a double digit lead, the Huskies would come right back and always cut it to about 4-6 points. There were numerous amount of times when the Broncos seemed like they were about to blow the Huskies out of the water, but they would climb right back in. Haas sat out for a lot of the 2nd half because of foul trouble. The Broncos put him back in when the Huskies closed the gap to 56-52.
The Final Minute: It was 61-55 with only 1 minute to go. Redell took the ball up court for the Broncos, passed it to Haas, who got stripped, and they made a shot to make the score 61-57. On the next possesion Haas passed it to Reitz, as he was going up for a shot, was stripped. As the Huskie player was going up for a layup, Haas was trying to block it, he picked up his 4th foul, and the shot went in, the Huskie player made the freethrow to make the score 61-60. The Huskies were forced to foul & Haas made both freethrows to make it a 3 point game with only 10 seconds left. The Huskies went down, missed their first attempt to tie the game, but did not miss there second & with only 4.7 left, it was tied 63-63. Haas inbounded it to, Redell who passed it to Hess who was just past halfcourt & the Broncos called a timeout with 2.7 left. Haas inbounded the ball to Redell, who past it back to Haas for a 3.....and.....money.

#18 Western Michigan Broncos (20-4)
vs.
http://images.sportsline.com/images/cbss/ui2/logos/collegebasketball/160x100/EMI.gif
Eastern Michigan Eagles(10-13)
1st Half: Coming into this game, the Broncos wanted to get revenge after their 75-71 loss earlier in the season to the Eagles. The first part of the first half was very slow paced, like they were trying to see what the other team has. Then out of no where there was an explosion of points & it became very fast paced. Haas lead the way for the Broncos, shooting lights out from3 point range again, he had 15 at halftime. The Eagles were lead by their PG, Carlos Medlock. It was all tied up 32-32 at halftime.
2nd Half: The Broncos came out & looked like they were on a mission, they started the half by going on a 15-2 run to go up 47-34. But after that, they didn't do so hot. The Eagles took advantage after every Bronco mistake, and climbed right back into the game & got their first lead after they hit a 3 to go up 52-51. It was just a race after that, shots being exchanged, full court traps, fast break layups. With under a minute left, the Eagles had the ball down 61-58, Carlos Medlock hit a 3 to to tie it 61-61. The Broncos didn't waste much time, but they did get a basket to go up 61-63
The Final 25 Seconds: There was under 25 seconds left to play when the Eagles got the ball. They went down court, Medlock passed it to their center, who passed it to their small forward, who passed it to Medlock who put up a 3, Haas jumped up to block it.........& the refs called a foul.....and the Medlock drained the 3 to put the Eagles up 64-63, plus he was able to complete the 4 point play as he made the free throw. There was only 8 seconds left Haas in bounded it to Redell, who passed it to Haas, he took it up court, they immediately double teamed him. The Broncos called timeout. Now for those of you that remember the Broncos last game, they did sort of the same thing, and Haas in bounded it to Redell who passed it back to Haas who drained a 3 to beat Northern Illinois. Now in this game, it was set up the same, Haas in bounded the ball to Redell, he passed it back to Haas who put up a 3................hit the back of the rim & came out; no good.

i think it is funny that Northern Illinois is horrible in your season as well. Actually I am glad or well I guess I should say that loss is a good thing. Conference tournament is coming up soon and with this loss they will be more focus and hungry now.
Its not like if you don't win the MAC you won't get in the dance, but should give your team more of an alert sense going into it.

i can't believe we lost the game on a 4 point play, what are the chances of that?? & on top a that, we got swept by Eastern Michigan + we got Central Michigan coming up again... & i'd rather get the losses done with right now then confrence tourney, but yea i'll probably get into NCAA tourney no matter what, my guess about 8-11 seed.

Toledo Rockets(6-19)
1st Half: The Broncos started off the 1st half scoring the first 6 points. They shot completly lights out. For the first time this year, the Broncos played their best defense. That was untill late in the 2nd half. Western Michigan was up 28-9, and about to blow out Toledo on their own court, but all of a sudden here come the Rockets. Before anyone knew what was going on it was a 5 point game. With only 2.2 left in the 2nd half the Broncos were up by only 3, 38-35. Haas was able to hit a 3 pointer right before the buzzer to extend that lead to 41-35. To close out the 2nd half, the Rockets went on a 26-13 run.
2nd Half: After that amazing 1st half comeback by the Rockets, the 2nd half was figured to be even more exciting. But it wasn't even close, the Broncos started the 2nd half going on an 18-0 run. It took 9 minutes & 10 seconds for the Rockets to score...4 points!!! In the last 3:50 however, they were able to add 9 more to that total. Mainly because the Broncos played very poorly in the last 3:50. Western Michigan outscored Toledo 35-13 in the 2nd half.

Central Michigan Chippewas(14-11)
1st Half: Coming into this game, Central Michigan needed a win to help them in the conference & Western Michigan needed a win to clinch MAC regular season title. So you knew this was going to be an exciting match up, like it was earlier in the year. Right from the start you could tell it was going to be a fast paced game, and the winner would be the one that didn't make that crucial turnover. The 2 state rivals went back & forth scoring, nobody had a bigger lead than 4 points. Central Michigans main offense was coming from their SF Nate Minnoy. Western Michgians offense was coming from Joe Reitz. The Chippewas had a sharp lead in the rebound department, but Western Michigan lead at half 34-33.
2nd Half: There were 3 big changes in the 2nd half. Haas was scoring more points, Central Michigan's Giordan Watson was scoring more points, but probably the biggest 2nd half change was the Broncos out rebounding the Chippewas. Both teams had the lead a numerous amont of times, with the Broncos having the biggest lead at 8, and Central Michigan had theirs at 7. In the games final minute is when Central Michigan really started to struggle. Even though with about 45 seconds to go, they were down by 8, they were able to cut it to a 68-66 game, they still couldn't hit the big shot. Western Michigan was able to sink their freethrows & escape Mt. Pleasant as the 2007-2008 MAC regular season champions.

Great season so far, keep it up like Zags says be carefull in the Tourney seems like they get harder and harder to win every year. My 1st season in Boise I lost the conference but won the tournamnet, the next season after that I did the opposite. Then I finally starting be able to dominate both. Now that I am in the Big 10 I am not looking forward to the Big 10 tourney, it is going to be some very tough play.
Just so you know Western Michigan is pretty dominate in the MAC in my legacy. It must be your great coaching skills. :)

Ball State Cardinals(12-15)
1st Half: Everyone was wondering what was going to happen tonight in this game. Seeing how Western Michigan already won the MAC season title, would he start just all seniors? Well, he decided to keep his regular starting lineup, but have the seniors play quite a bit. At first it looked like Ball State was going to spoil Senior Night. Haas was held to 3 points at halftime, and sat out nearly 11 minutes do to foul trouble. But the Broncons were not going to loose on Senior Night, the seniors would not have that. Once Haas went out, the seniors took over the entire first half. Western Michigan dominated in everything, except they had more turnovers. They shot 61% to the Cardinals 21%. They had a huge rebounding advantage. It was 42-23 at halftime.
2nd Half: The 2nd half, was no different from the first half. Western Michigan's seniors continued to dominate. Joe Reitz had another double double, & he has really started to play extremely well the past few weeks. The Cardinals did shoot a lot better in the 2nd half, but so did the Broncos. This was by far Western Michigan's best shooting night the entire year. Their bench had nearly half their points. Only 1 person for Ball State would have double figure points(10 points) and that was their starting SG Peyton Stovall.

Bowling Green Falcons(11-17)
1st half: Righ from the start you could tell, the Falcons wanted to win this tournament. They were dominate basically the entire game. Haas sat out probably 75%-80% of this game with foul trouble. In the first half, the Broncos only lead 11-9, and that was after they were down 9-3. Haas was the only one keeping them in the game in the first half playing tremendous on defense, and getting other people open shots on offense. After he went out, it looked like the Falcons would take advantage, but the Broncos fought back & tied it right before half 34-34.
2nd half:Haas went out early in the 2nd half after he picked up his 3rd foul, but the Broncos didn't need him. Even though they trailed almost the entire 2nd half, they kept it close, and took the lead a few times. With a minute to go, the Broncos were leading 63-54, after Hershberger missed a shot, the Falcons came down put up a 3 right away, missed, but got their own rebound, put up another 3 & drained it(63-57). They were forced to foul, and Haas was able to hit both shots, even though the Broncos are known for missing their 2nd freethrow attempt. They passed it all the way down to their center, who got fouled & made the shot. But he missed the free throw. After Bowling Green got a steal, they went down took a mid range jumper, missed it, got the rebound, put it back up, missed it, got the rebound, put it up, and thats when Haas picked up his 4th foul, but they did not make the shot. He was able to make it a 61-65 game. Haas was able to make 1 of 2 from the line and that sealed the game.

The Eagles completly dominated the first half in every aspect. Western Michigan was down the entire half. Eastern Michigan shot 62% in the first half. They were lead by their PG Carlos Medlock, who seems to always play excellent against the Broncos. The Eagles were up 41-31 at halftime, the most Western Michigan has been done at halftime all year.
2nd half: Coming into the 2nd half, you knew Haas was going to want to bring his team back. He started to do so, but the Eagles proved that one person can not beat a team effort. Everytime the Broncos closed in on the lead & were about to tie, the Eagles would score 5 points to make it a 6-7 point lead. Then the Broncos coach made a tough decision, it was 10 point game with 3:30 to go, he decided to bench Haas & Reitz for 2 minutes so they could come back fresh. It turned out to be a huge mistake, lead by Medlock, they were able to have the Broncos shoot bad shots, and they would continue to score. With 1:45, Reitz & Haas came back in, and they were down by 12. It would do no good though, as the Broncos loose by the most they have all year. In the last 4 minutes, they only made about 5 shots.

Tough loss. They killed you in the paint. I really think its hard to go 3-0 against a team. My win over Indiana in my conference semi finals was a 3peat, and I had 1 3peaat against Utah St once when I was at Boise, but other then that I think I have always lost game 3.
At least we know 1 happy person today and that is Coach Ryan. He must be be very happy for his Redskins team today.
Good luck in the Tourney.

Sadly your two games you need to worry about in the tournament are the second round and sweet sixteen. Anything you are in a very easy bracket it looks like as far as opponents you have to face.

Game Recap: Right from the start the Broncos came out on fire, they scored the first 9 points. They then went up 19-5, and it looked like they were going to blow out Fordham. But the Rams came right back & before anyone knew it, they pulled with in 1 point, 23-22. Haas finished with 9 halftime points, and wasn't in foul trouble for most of the first half. The Broncos wen into halftime with a 32-24 halftime lead. The Broncos started the 2nd half same exacty way they started the first half. Once again though, the Rams fought back. Then the Broncos built up an 18 point, and in came their 2nd team. Well, that lasted for about 2 in a half minutes as the Rams came back & made it a 58-51 game. the Broncos were able to hang on, and pull away at the end.

1st Very nice win. Good luck against A&M.
2nd seeds that surprised me. #2 Bulter, #3 Bradley #3 UAB, Texas only a #10 and UCLA only a #6. Wow. Talk about the mid-majors showing up in your legacy.
3rd. Very surprised to see#15 Bucknell take out #2 Louisville Also 2 #13 seeds winning over #4. Columbia and Miami of Ohio. Nice to see your fellow MAC represtenting. Coach Ryan will be proud.
With all that said looks for a mighty interesting tourney.

#2 Texas A&M Aggies(22-10)
1st Half: This was going to be the Broncos biggest test all year. Right outta the gate Texas A&M came ready to play. With in just 4 minutes of the first half the Aggies were up 13-0. Haas who was shooting terrible went to the bench, he finished the first half with just 5 points. Lead by Drews, the Broncos came storming back, and with 5 minutes to go, were only down 5(25-20). Texas A&M completely dominated inside, and their C/PF, Joseph Jones, was just having his way with Joe Reitz. Well that was untill the Broncos stopped trying to compete and stay even in every aspect of the game. The Broncos had a chance to tie right before half, but Haas' 3 rimmed out. Texas A&M lead 33-30 at halftime.
remember that missed 3 pointer
2nd Half: The Aggies came out on fire again starting the 2nd half on a 9-0 run. Unlike the first half though, Haas knew in order for his team to have a chance at winning he was going to have to play great, and that is what he did. Until midway in the 2nd half, when for around 3 minutes, he went cold...ice cold. That also reflected how his team played for that 3 minutes, but they were able to keep it to about an 8-10 point game.
The Final Minute: Texas A&M was up 69-57 with under a minute to go, and looked like they were going to advance to the Sweet 16. Then all of a sudden, Haas puts up a 3, drains it. Few seconds later, he puts up another one, misses it, but Hess is there for the put in. Broncos get the steal, easy 2 pointer. All of a sudden it is a 64-69 game with 27 seconds left. Then the unthinkable happened, the Broncos got another steal, and got another easy 2 pointer. In just 25 seconds, the Broncos cut the Aggies lead from 12 points, to a 3 point game. They had to foul though, and the did so. Texas A&M was in bounding the ball on their side of the court, and the Broncos needed a steal, or to hope for the best.
The Final Minute Cont'd:They got the steal, and so they didn't rush the shot, they took a timeout. With just 19 seconds to go, Texas A&M lead the Broncos 69-66, but the Broncos had the ball. They put in their 2nd best 3 point shooter, Derek Drews, who had lead the comeback in the first half. Redell got it to Drews who took a 3..................and it was blocked, but Haas got it. He then puts up a 3............no good. The Broncos were forced to foul. Texas A&M made the first freethrow to go up 70-66. It looked as hope was over for the Broncos, but the 2nd freethrow was missed, unforuntely the Broncos could not get the rebound, and the Aggies got an easy 2.
now remember the 3 pointer from the first half, Haas makes that it's tied 33-33 at halftime, then if everything in the 2nd half still happens, it would have been tied 69-69 with 19 seconds left & the Broncos would have had the ball.

Post-Game Interview
Reporter: Coach, how do you feel after this tough loss?
Coach: I'm not in the greatest mood ever, but gotta just take the positive from this game, and work on the negative.
Reporter: What are the positives of a loss like this?
Coach: We were down by 12 with under a minute to go, in just about 30 seconds we cut that to a 3 point game, we never gave up.
Reporter: What about the negatives?
Coach: We got out hustled, they out ran us in the fast break, sure a lot of those shots may not fall under the 'fast break' category, but to me that is exactly what they were. They dominated us on the inside, and we were to focused on keeping it even in there, when every one in the nation knows that won't happen.
Reporter: Do you regret calling that time out & having your players take a shot soon, rather then waiting for the final shot?
Coach: Not at all, if we rush it, we may be able to get a quick 2 pointer to pull with in one, but, every time we did have a fast break, we got stopped, and ended up missing a lay-up. I did not want to risk it this time. The time thing, I was in the mind state of, if we take the shot right before the buzzer, and we miss, game over. And what happened, we missed, and we still had a chance to tie or win, a very slim chance, but a chance non the less.
the coach leaves, and Haas comes in
Reporter: Haas, you carried this team through out the season and even in this game you brought them back, but couldn't finish, how do you feel?
Haas: I'm heartbroken, I played terrible. Sure I had 27 points, which is probably a season & career high for me, but how many assists did I have?
Reporter: I don't think you had any.
Haas: Exactly! I forced way to many shots & didn't get my team involved like I should have. If anyone is going to blame this loss on someone, don't blame it on the coach, or anyone else on the team, blame it on me. I'm taking full blame for this. So tomorrow when I turn on ESPN, and look at the paper, I don't want to see anyone blaming anyone else but me.

That has to be one of the most amazing things I have seen on here so far. Never would happen in a normal world :) Most National Player Awards go to a guy who avgs huge# for some big school. Congrats on all the hardware. Those are alot of attributes points coming your way if you are not already max out. (Couldn't remember what you said your coaches ratings where).
Also a very nice hire will be a nice help on the the X's and O's.
And again very nice recruiting.
A nice shooter in Diego, a bigman in Dillion and it looks like Hatilia might have everything you want in a SF except the height in which Linas does have.
Looking forward to seeing how they rank out.

#25 Georgetown Hoyas(0-1)
1st Half: You knew coming into this game it was going to be a tough challenge for the Western Michigan Broncos. They did bring in some talented freshman. But in the first half, it was all Georgetown. Georgetown dominated everything in the first half. They were shooting 57% to the Broncos 20%. The Broncos shot 15 times behind the arc, and made 2. Georgetown's DaJuan Summers had 14 points in the first half. The Hoyas out rebounded the Broncos 23-9 in the first half. They also had 8 blocks to the Broncos 2. They completely dominated the inside, scoring 30 points. While the Broncos had 6 points in the paint. The Broncos dominated the bench points though, but that was it. Georgetown was up 32-10 at one point, but the Broncos were able to cut into that lead. Georgetown lead 36-20 at halftime.
2nd Half: The 2nd half was no different from the first half. The Hoyas just continued to dominate inside, and really everywhere.

#11 Duke Blue Devils(3-0)
1st Half: This game was completely differnet from the last one. Western Michigan was leading, untill Haas went out with an injury. After that Duke took over, but they wouldn't blow out Western Michigan in the first half. Lead by Shawntes Gary, Western Michigan hung in there. Haas came back in, but you could tell his injury was really affecting him, even though he did hit a 3 pointer. Greg Paulus was on fire, he has 13 points & 6 assists by halftime. Duke out rebounded the Broncos 17-9. Duke was leading at halftime 38-32.
2nd Half: Duke had built up a huge lead(20 points to be exact) but the Broncos came right back. They caught fire from three. Derek Drews hit 2 in a row, to make it a 1 point game with under 15 seconds to go. But the Broncos messed up, and they didn't foul and Duke got an easy basket.

Florida Gators(5-1)
1st Half: Western Michigan started good. They went up 7-2, but after that, it was all Florida. Like the past 2 games, Western Michigan is getting beat inside, and by a lot. Without Haas in, the Broncos don't do as good, and that could hurt them in the future. Unlike last year, Western Michigan is struggling from 3 point range. Florida outrebounded the Broncos 19-10 in the first half. The Gators also outscored them 28-12 in the paint. Florida got a 3 right before the buzzer to put them up 35-24 at halftime.
2nd Half: The Broncos spent most of the 2nd half playing catch-up. Haas had a career high scoring 29 points. The Broncos didn't get outrebounded as bad, which is a good sign, and helped them out a lot in the 2nd half. After Florida went up by 14, they went on a drought. That allowed the Broncos to come back, with Haas on the bench for the most of that. Florida was up 63-61 with under 45 seconds, and that was after Haas drained a 3. Florida then turned it over, and the Broncos were able to tie it. There was then a series of turnovers, but finally the Broncos got a steal, and Haas hit Redell for a dunk and the 65-63 lead. Florida took a 3 for the win, it went around the rim....and no good.

Post Game Interview
Reporter: Coach how are you feeling after your first win of the season?
Coach: Sort of feels good, but not great.
Reporter: What do you mean by that?
Coach: In the past 3 games, probably 95% of our opponents points came inside, that isn't good at all, and we will need to fix that.
Reporter: Why did you decide to change the line-up 1 day before this game?
Coach: Because we needed a win, we have a tough non-confrence scedule, probably the toughest, and we can not afford to loose all of the games.
Reporter: Tomorrow you play #11 Louisville, at Louisville, do you think you can get your team to concentrate on that game, and pull off the upset?
Coach: Hopefully we can get focused on that game, and win it, but we will have a lotta work to do, 'cause I'm sure we're going to get dominated inside.
Reporter: Nearly half of your teams points came from Corey Haas, is that good or bad thing for your team?
Coach: Probably both, it's good 'cause we know we have a go to guy. It's also bad because 1 person can't win a game, it's a team thing, and we're going to need some more production from the other players. And yes, I know Haas basically did win this game by himself, but he did opt out of the final shot that ended up giving us the win.
Reporter: Thank you for your time, and good luck tomorrow against Louisville

Did the game create that non conference schedule for you or did you modify it yourself. It is a very difficult schedule but playing the teams in the MAC will be a piece of cake after all of that. I guess you are scheduling the way Gonzaga has to because they are in a lesser conference.

Game Recap: This was a defensive struggle...well in the first half it was. The Broncos, to everyones surprise, was hanging around. The Cardinals ended the first half going on a 16-4 run. They lead 28-21 at halftime. Edgar Sosa had 10 points & Derrick Caracter added another 10 points along with 10 rebounds. Both teams shot poorly, Broncos shot 29% & Louisville shot 35%. Louisville outrebounded them 27-16. At the begining of the 2nd half, Linas Zimnickas went out with shin splits, but would return. This was an offensive explosion with almost zero defense. Louisville lead by as much as 18, but Haas & Dillon started a comeback. That was until Haas fouled out, and the Broncos continued to shoot poorly down the stretch. Louisville was able to make 21 of their 23 freethrows, almost all of them came in the 2nd half. Louisville out scored the Broncos 62-57 in the 2nd half. After the game, Broncos coach had this to say...
"we didn't shoot good at all, and once again, got out rebounded by a lot, and played horrible defense in the 2nd half, we are really going to need to fix this if we stand any chance at all."

To bad you couldn't pull of that win against Duke, then again I am sorta amazed you scheduled them :) Looks like the start has been hard on Haas 1st game only 9 pts then gets hurt then fouls out. Need him to get things back on track.

lol that's probably what it is....seriously though, they'd go up for their little layups(which they had a lot of easy ones, hence all the points in the paint)..and i'd jump up to block it..and every time a foul was called & then on the reverse side, there was almost no shooting fouls on them.....at least my next game is against Marshall + Kansas is coming up and they aren't doin' so good right now(2-3 record) so i'm pretty confident we can win that game

Marshall Thundering Herd(3-3)
1st half: Coming into this game, everyone knew Western Michigan was a really good team, they just had a hard non-conference schedule, that's why they had a loosing record. Everyone had them winning by at least 20 in this on. Well in the 1st half, they spent nearly all of it playing catch up. Last years Player of the Year, Haas, had 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 2 steals, 2 fouls and 3 turnovers. Derek Drews though had 10 points. Once again, both teams didn't shoot very good, and the Broncos were being outrebounded. Marshall was shooting 30% & had 21 rebounds. Western Michigan was shooting 37% and had 15 rebounds, but their bench came to play outscoring Marshall's 19-6. Western Michigan lead 24-19 at halftime
2nd half: This was the Western Michigan team everyone expected to see. Haas & freshman Dillon scored all of their points in the 2nd half & everyone Bronco player had scored at least 2 points. The Broncos had a consistant 10 point lead, until the end when they just blew Marshall outta the water. Marshall's #11 had a double double, but almost every team had at least 1 player witha double double that faced the Broncos this season. Haas was out for awhile in the 2nd half because of foul trouble.

Friday, December 6, 2008, Interview with Andy Katz
http://espn.go.com/i/columnists/katz_andy_m.jpg
Andy Katz: Andy Katz here, and I'm being joined by the Western Michigan Bronco coach, Steve Hawkins. Now Coach, your currently 2-3, and you've had some troubles with your team which you've acknowledged in post game interviews, anything you'd like to say about that?
Coach: Well, first off I'd like to say I've been to hard on my team, and I realized that during the Marshall game.
Andy Katz: How are you going to improve, will it be any one of those things you've said in past interviews this season?
Coach: Yeah, but I need to improve also. First of all, I'm really going to have to think hard of a new starting line-up. When I was watching that Marshall game, it came to me, one of the reasons we are getting dominated inside, we aren't experienced enough. So for the next few games I'll keep the starting line-up the same, and see if they improve by playing more or if I'm going to have to start experience.
Andy Katz: Anything else you need to work on?
Coach: Yeah, last year we were a fast paced team, and we could hit 3's in transition and all of that. This year, as of right now, we aren't. Which brings up another thing we need to work on conditioning especially for the freshman. But I have to say, we are one a the most dangerous teams inbounding, that's where a majority of our 3's that we make come from. We also need to work on offensive rebounds, we got crushed against Marshall in that.
Andy Katz: Last year Corey Haas had a break out year winning a lot of awards, who do you see doing that for your team this year?
Coach: This is a hard choice, but I'm gonna have to say either Damian Dillon or Justin Hairston, and maybe Martell McLemore.
Andy Katz: Now Haas is struggling right now, what do you tell him to keep his head up?
Coach: That it's only non-conference and there is still a whole season to go.
Andy Katz: Now besides Haas, who is a important player on your team?
Coach: Well really everyone is, but if I'd have to pick just one, I'd probably have to say even though he had a bad game against Marshall, Martell McLemore. He always seems to have that critical point or rebound at the right time.
Andy Katz: Next week you have 3 games in a row, and it won't be that easy. You play Michigan on December 11 and they're 5-2. Then on December 12 you play Kansas who is currently 2-6 & then on the 13 you play Duquesne who is currently 4-3, how do you think your teal will do?
Coach: Well first we have to beat William & Mary, but I think we'll win at least 2 a those games next week.
Andy Katz: Care to say which teams you think you'll beat?
Coach: (laughing) no, 'cause this is college basketball, you can never say for sure.
Andy Katz: Last year your team won the MAC regular season championship, you lost in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament to Texas A&M, and you finished the season 25-7, any predictions for this year?
Coach: I think we have the team to make the tournament again, and record wise, it's hard to say, anything can happen.
Andy Katz: Well thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to come here and spend time with us here, and good luck this season and against your opponent tomorrow, William & Mary.

Game Recap: The Broncos Linas Zimnickas was back at 100% for this game. Not that they needed him at all though. It took William & Mary 3 minutes to get their first basket. It was a 3pointer which made the score 13-3. But they wouldn't stand a chance. The Broncos shot 44% in the first half to the Tribe's 28%. William & Mary lead on the rebounds 21-16, but the Broncos lead in the paint 24-8. It was 40-21 at half. The 2nd half would be no different, the closest William & Mary would even get was 20 points. Also William & Mary played this entire game very very sloppy. The Broncos outscored the Tribe 60-27 in the 2nd half.

William & Mary is a very very bad team....they couldn't run their offense at all, and when they did they either missed a shot, or turned it over by a stupid pass..and towards the end i gave up a lot of easy shots

Michigan Wolverines(5-2)
1st Half: Michigan's only lead was at 2-0, after that it was all Broncos. Michigan has the height advantage, but neglected to utilize it. The Broncos shot 42% from behind the arc. They were still getting outrebounded in the first half, but only by a small margine of 1. Both teams shot good, with the Broncos shooting 43% & Michigan shooting 41%. The 7'2" freshman for Michigan, Nigel Buchanan was looked at by Western Michigan, but he decided to go to Michigan. In the first half he put up 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals & 2 blocks. Haas had 1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover & 2 fouls, but Diego Bermudez had 8 points which led the Broncos. Western Michigan lead instate rival 31-22 at halftime.
2nd Half: Western Michigan lead by as much as 17 in the 2nd half & shot lights out. Just when it looked like they were going to blow out the Wolverines on their home floor, Michigan went on a run to pull with in 8. But that'd be as close as they would get. Haas had 10 second half points, and everyone but 1 player had scored for the Broncos. Nigel Buchanan didn't have a great 2nd half as he was held to 4 points & 2 rebounds.

i love closer games to, that's how my Kansas game i just played was, update coming in a few minutes also
honestly right now, super bowl prediction i can't really say, but i can say, that i know for a fact, Green Bay can beat the Patriots. Patriots should have lost about 4 games this season, and Green Bay is better than those 4 teams. and the field goal thing, yeah, i actually have GB's final score either 27 or 31, if they only kick one field goal(well make one) then it'll be 31 otherwise 27(if that makes sense)

Kansas Jayhawks(2-6)
1st Half: Coming into this game, everyone knew that Kansas had a huge height advantage, and they used that in this game. In their starting line-up they had a freshman PF, Malcolm Falkner who was 7'0" and 77 overall & their center, Cole Aldrich, is also 7'0" and 80 overall. It was a shoot out in the first half, the Broncos shot 54% and Kansas shot 60%. Kansas was also leading on the boards 17-7 & in blocks 5-1. Surprisingly the Broncos weren't getting dominated by points in the paint(32-24) The Broncos lead by as much as 5, and Kansas' biggest lead was 7. To everyone's surprise Western Michigan was hanging around. Damian Dillon was out for a lot of the first half because of foul trouble, but Haas was back to his old self, he had 13 first half points along with 4 assists. #45 had 12 points, 1 rebound and a block. Kansas lead 50-46 at halftime
2nd Half: Kansas came out and were on fire, while the Broncos struggled to score. Kansas lead by as much as 13 a numerous amount a times. Haas continued to score, but mid-way through the 2nd half, he went cold and lost a lot of confidence, but in the final 1minute and a half he got it back, and would bring the Broncos back to make it a game. Kansas would be able to make their freethrows, and the Broncos struggled from behind the arc unlike in the first half when they shot 50%. The Broncos made a comeback with in the final minute, but they would just run out of time.

Game Recap: Broncos started on fire going up 17-6 just minutes into the game. After that the Dukes would comeback, but never get closer than 8 points. The Broncos Damian Dillon was in foul trouble early, but it wouldn't make that much of a difference as the Dukes would only shoot 27% in the first half. Western Michigan again shot outstanding from behind the arc in the first half(40%). Western Michigan lead 34-23 at halftime. Right way in the 2nd half, Western Michigan went up by 17. Duquesne would continusly come back from that deficet, but could never pull with in single digits. Haas was able to stay out of foul trouble this game, but wouldn't put up big scoring numbers. With 5:55 left UW-Green bay would get the lead again but their most important lead was with 1:45 left they went up 69-68. They would then steal the ball and get an easy 2 to go up 71-68. They made the first free throw to go up 72-70. They then missed the 2nd but got the rebound, but fourtunate for the Broncos Redell came up with a steal and the Broncos called a timeout with 0:22 left. #19 Michigan State Spartans(7-3)
1st half: After the Broncos got a scare from UW-Green Bay, they had to face #19 Michigan State. In the first half they hung in with Michigan State. 2 times Michigan State would go up by 7, but the Broncos wouldn't let it be anymore then that. Haas had 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals & 2 blocks Dillon added another 9 points, 2 rebounds & assist for the Broncos and they would end the 1st half going on a 20-6 run. Western Michigan led Michigan State 37-34 at halftime.
2nd half: Shortly into the 2nd half, the Broncos got a scare. Damian Dillon went up to block a shot, and landed awkwardly. Coach Hawkins said it was nothing serious, just a bruised hip, and Dillon would return shortly after. The Broncos took a 9 point lead 2 times early in the 2nd half, but no more than that. In just 30 seconds Haas picked up 2 fouls which would force him to go to the bench. 1 minute after Dillon's return he was forced to go to the bench because of foul trouble. With 7:10 left Michigan State took their first lead since the first half after they drained a 3 to go up 53-50. They would hold that lead until 2 minutes to go when Diego Bermudez would make a 3 to give the Broncos the 66-63 lead. Haas took it the length of the court and slammed it down to give the Broncos the 70-67 lead with just 38 seconds left. In the last 30 seconds Haas would make 5-6 free throws to help the Broncos pull off the upset.

1st half: Haas' foul trouble would continue in this game, not even 2 minutes into it he had 2 fouls, and would sit the rest of the first half. IPFW would use full court pressure which the Broncos struggle against and they would start the game going up 8-2. After that the Broncos got going. Led by Dillon & Zimnickas the Broncos would go on a 41-19 run. They shot an amazing 57%, and 30% from behind the arc. They had 10 fast break points along with another 28 points in the paint to go up 43-27 at halftime.
2nd half: Just 8 seconds into the 2nd half, Jakari Johnson got fouled shooting a 3 by Haas, and he would complete the 4 point play. Haas would go to the bench, still scoreless. Jakari Johnson was on fire after that, which went to the rest of the team. In about 1 minute he hit 2 three's in a row, and that was followed by his teammate draining a 3. They wouldn't miss a shot until 7:25 left in the game. As soon as they pulled the score to 54-51, they fell apart. The Falcons trimmed it down to a 7 point lead and then that's when Haas just exploded. He finished the first half with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, & 3 steals. Dillon who was still injured, had about an average first half. The Broncos lead 41-31 at halftime. In the 2nd half, the slaughter began. Western Michigan dominated in the 2nd half, except for rebounds, but that's nothing new. Haas only had 8 second half points, but the rest of the team came to play and they blew out Bowling Green.

Kent State Golden Flashes(6-5)
Game Recap: Well Haas didn't have any foul trouble, he just couldn't make a shot. Which in turn helped Kent State build up a 12 point lead early in the first half. Damian Dillon had a career high points wise game, but couldn't get any rebounds, which didn't help any. On top of that, Western Michigan missed every 3 pointer they took in the first half. However, the Broncos were able to cut into that 12 point lead and at halftime they were only down 33-30. In the 2nd half, the Broncos dominated and took a 10 point lead. They had the lead for most of the 2nd half, but with 2 minutes to go, Kent State took a 61-60 lead. The Broncos wouldn't go down though, and then Diego Bermudez got a dunk on a fastbreak which gave the Broncos a 66-64 lead with just 34.6 seconds left. Just seconds after that, Bermudez did it again to give the Broncos a 68-64 lead with just 21.6 seconds left. Then Redell was able to force the turnover, and was fouled right away. On the inbound, they got the ball to Haas who went up for a 3, then hit a wide open Dillon for the easy dunk & sealed the win.

Central Michigan Chippewas(7-8)
Game Recap: Right out of the gate the Chippewas went up 6-0. Haas was on fire from behind the arc, and the Broncos came right back. Dillon and Haas combined for 22 points, 1 reboudns, 2 steals, 3 assists and a block. Haas shot 4-6 behind the arc, but they weren't winning, mainly in thanks to Chase Simon, who had 12 points & 9 rebounds he also didn't miss a shot. It was all tied up 33-33 at halftime. Through out the entire 2nd half it went back & forth, with Central Michigan having the biggest lead at 7. Then with 1:00 to go, Dillon hits a hook shot to give the Broncos a 55-53 lead. The Broncos then forced a steal on the inbound, Haas missed the 3, but Dillon got the rebound and dunked it to give Western Michigan a 57-53 lead with just 48.3 left. It looked like the Chippewas last chance was gone when Haas stole the ball, but has fate would have it, he stepped out of bounds. The Chippewas would then get a loose ball foul called on them. Haas would make his 2 freethrows to extend the lead to 59-53. On a desperassion shot, the Chippewas would fire up a 3, but it was no good, Dillon got the rebound and would go to the foul line for what could seal the deal. He missed the foul shot, the Chippewas raced down court & drained a 3 to make the score 59-56 with just 4.8 left. Luckily for the Broncos Michael Redell is a fairly good freethrow shooter & he was able to seal the deal

Wow you are really going after the World recruits there.
Couple of things I saw. You have the PF Gidell Curry only listed at 6'1 ?? I am guessing this is suppose to be 6'10 or maybe 6'11 ?? Also same with PG Abul Tchana. He is listed at 5'1. That would by far be the s*****t basketball player I have ever seen.
Other questions.
The Kid from Washington. What schools are ahead of you and also the kid from Oregon. I am guessing Washington and maybe Gonzaga for the 1st one and Oregon Ducks on the other one.

Ball State Cardinals(7-8)
Game Recap: Western Michigan played nearly perfect, except for some of the players who shoot very poorly. They had their best defensive performance all year. They caused Ball State to shoot terrible and play very sloppy. Dillon had 14 first half points along with 1 rebound an assist, a steal & 3 blocks, he also didn't miss a shot. Sixth man David Kool added another 11 points. Western Michigan shot 55% in the first half, but were loosing the rebound battle 16-12. They lead at halftime 44-19. The Broncos were so confident that they were going to win, starters didn't even start the 2nd half. The sloppy play by the Cardinals continued. Haas didn't shoot very well at all, but he did finish with 16 points. For most of the game, the Broncos shot lights out, except from behind the arc. That was until late in the 2nd when they missed most of their shots. Which Ball State did a lot of, they'd go on droughts were they wouldn't score any to little amount of points for a good amount of minutes. All in all though, Coach Hawkins was very happy with how his squad played, especially defensivly.

Game Recap: The Dynamic Duo(Corey Haas & Damian Dillon lol) went off in this game, and they completely dominated. They alone probably could've beaten the entire Northern Illinois team. For the first 4 minutes it was close, 4-2, Broncos on top. By the time the Huskies got 6 points it was 31-6. The Huskies shot 27% in the first half & had 6 points in the paint. Western Michigan lead 36-12 at halftime. Haas had 11 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists & 3 steals, Dillon added another 10 points, 2 rebounds & a steal, but they were not done at halftime. Now even though the 2nd team actually played more than 1st team, the Dynamic Duo put up better 2nd half numbers. So did Northern Illinois, which was a plus for them.
