What I'm going to say will not read well for some but just think.

I don't see this game being the "total sim" that everyone is looking for. It'll be more realistic than FN for sure but I don't think we're going to get the reality that everyone is looking for.

First off 2k HAS to sell games. Those disks have to leave the shelves and the only way that happens is if everyone wants it. What does that mean? This game had BETTER be able to be picked up and played by a 5 year old. Now I know that FN was about as sim as Punch Out but don't be surprised if you hear "Put him away" in Prizefighter either. I'm not bad mouthing the game or 2K but you got to come to realize that there are very few boxing nuts who are also AVID gamers and looking for a SIM boxing game at that. I think this combination does not bode well for us.

I actually did a little boxing training while in the service and I can tell you I haven't recalled squat. I know a few boxers (one guy I went to high school with and lives across the yard from me) and I still don't know squat about the "sweet science".

I just seeing this game not selling well if it's too "sim". 2K is going to have to find some kind of happy middle for you guys and the FN crowd and something tells me that the middle may be a little closer to FN than sim.

Well, NBA 2K8 is a total sim of basketball, and it didn't do too bad in the sales department. I think that this game will sell because a lot of people didn't care for Fight Night and have been begging for 2K to make a boxing game. And i disagree, i think that there are more boxing nuts who are avid gamers than you think. Just look at all the buzz this game is creating on the sites and it was just announced only a few days ago and is still at least 4 months from being released. I think that's saying something. Plus, i think it's very possible for 2K to make a boxing sim without it being brain surgery. I'm sure there will be a learning curve as in all games, but i don't think it will be to the point where people can't learn it eventually.

I don't think that 2K is going to compromise it's reputation for realism to try to win over a certain type of gamer. 2K games are based on realism, and that's what sets them apart from the competition in my opinion. I think they're banking on making a great, realistic boxing sim game and letting the chips fall where they may.

So you're saying a mature game like Manhunt had BETTER be able to be picked up and played by a 5 year old just because it is a game and they want to sell?

Sometimes games are made just as much for the audience they are targeting as the casual gamers. A SIM game can sell well if it is promoted correctly. It can also be balanced with sliders and many options. Have an "arcade" mode like the old *** games for drunk, non boxing fans at a house party to select and begin mashing buttons.

I would have to disagree with you 100% as well. People love to get lost in the gaming world with their imagination. People love to VISUALIZE themselves as actually living the game as a reality. Take Madden and take Blitz....one is more of a sim and one arcade like. Which is which? and which one do you think does better? The release of Madden is a national holiday. Simulations are playable over a longer period of time and are less repetative. Now having it able to be played by a 5 year old that is just nonsence. Most parents dont want their 5 year old playing any violent games. Plus we are out of the 2 button, arcade, button smashing easy to play video games that were apparent 10 years ago.

evander holyfield's boxing game for sega was more of a sim than most other boxing games around its time and it sold well. sims do just fine if the gameplay is good and they're marketed well.................
I train as a boxer now and hope to do some amateur fights next year and the only way that you don't remember training is if you have a bad trainer, give up, or don't practice. I can tell you from experience that all boxing training relies on basic fundamentals and evolve from there. a good trainer will ingrain this in you from day one until you get it right...............
if this game, like boxing has a maturation process it will be a great game. it's good when a game shows you how you evolve rather than just making it a one dimensional journey with the same predictable path.................
boxing like any other sport should be represented in the best way possible that shows the sport for what it is..................

As long as you can punch while moving.. it should be better than fight night

to settle his point all you have to do is look up the statistice on the ages ranges of gamers. you will be surprised at the age ranges. 2k is not to concerned about the ages i am sure. if this game is to have you avoid temption in it we could very well see a mature rating for this game. not to mention there will be blod in it also so a 5 year old may not want to play it.

Okay.......maybe he was being sarcastic about the a 5 year old(or not) 5 year olds don't train to box and will not relate that much, but I do agree with the OP it will be somewhere down the middle but may be like 50% toward arcade like

I had a friend who used to play on nfl2k5 and his name was BIGTIMEISHERE..I dont know if you guys have ever heard of him..But he told me that this game was coming out 3 years ago..Now I see this is comin out..He was right and this will be better than FN..NBA 2k8 put away nbalive08 and this is a sim fighter so I'm sure your going to see ali, tyson, holyfield, rubin carter, and all the greats..People will pick this game up b/c everyone was hyped about apf2k8 but that really didnt meet the requirements..I think will be the next blockbuster game and 2k will make big bucks off it..They need to release this game way before FN so people get the news..Thats what happened to apf2k8 the news came out the same time as madden and no one listened..

Yeah I was being sarcastic about the 5 year old thing but what I'm saying is that they will certainly not make this game so sim that you had better go to your local PAL first, get a month worth of lessons and then come play the game or else you'll never win in it. lol
