is this the reason they are not making this game. I remember they had college hoops 2k7 only for 360 and then they came with it on ps3. If they say this then I will havee to accept it. I will not believe nothing until they say they are not making this game for ps3.

I don't buy this argument. If it were so astronomical in cost to produce a PS3 game, no games would exist for it. Yet, many companies like Infinity Ward, EA, and Konami continue to make games for the PS3, games of good quality.

2K is not a poor company, and they have made plenty of multiplatform games. So why is this any different?

ps3 doesn't suck.....it's actually a solid system but the high price tag and limited release of exclusive games make the ps3 a hard sale right now. if sony had a lower price tag out the gate for their new system they'd easily be neck and and neck right now with sales and profits but they screwed themselves by killing appeal to their mainstream market...............
ps3 technically has more to offer than the 360 hardware but microsoft has done a great job selling 360s in the US market. globally 360 is a dud but in the US it's one of the best selling consoles despite its high failure rate....................
I played all 3 systems and they all have their strengths it just depends on what type of gamer you're selling to.................

EXACTLY. However, since I'm not 2K, I can speculate. I believe that it is budget constraints. This is a good thing that 2K opted not to spend their limited financial resources on developing for the PS3, in spite of the PS3's staggeringly phenomenal install base :D The thing is, many, many things will be compromised if 2K sports were to use up their funds developing for the PS3 instead of just putting it towards the polishing and refinement of Prizefighter.

Also, boxing is not as popular as the NBA or NFL, it is much more difficult to acquire funds for a boxing game as there is no such thing as a boxing league to sponsor it. To me, this is the biggest reason the PS3 was left out. It's a good sign because it shows that 2K isn't out to make a quick buck by making a mediocre boxing game to sell on all platforms.

Also, who knows? Maybe 2K is copying EA Sports and will sell the identical game as a PS3 special, 10 months later, the way EA did with FNR3!

I don't think 2K Sports is going to come out and say that they don't have enough money to develop for all the consoles. But seriously, it is a known fact that it is much more difficult to develop for the PS3 and costs more money. Boxing is not a mainstream sport and I have a feeling that 2K might actually be creating a game for the boxing purists and not for the masses. I think they are aiming for reputation first, especially nowadays when EA's been coming up with mediocre game after mediocre game. This is 2K Sports' perfect opportunity to drive the stake through EA's heart. Right now I believe 2K is aiming for prestige, and once they earn that, they'd be selling all their games like pancakes the way EA Sports has been. Again, in all honesty, for whatever reason, blame it on the developers if you'd like, but it is true that 90% of all the games that come out for both the 360 and the PS3 look and play better on the 360. After a year, the PS3 still hasn't come up with a true killer app. My point is, for all the trouble developing a game for the PS3 is, it is much wiser for 2K Sports to leave them out for a game that's not even intended for the masses.

Long time no see pal...

I don't know if you remember me from the IGN boards but all i want is a game that will represent the sport i love with the up most respect and truest realism possible...this is why i finally registered here after so many years...I believe 2K can deliver what we have been wanting for so long now...Of course I would like the game to be on the console of my choosing but if that will defer resources from development or prevent certain things from being done to the best of the developers ability then screw it...The game itself simply means more to me...Hopefully its just a delay like FNR3 but if not I have no problem buying a wii for this game (if i can find one)...

its seriously not that for me. I play sony computer games almost everday. Did everyday for about 5 years straight. It has nothing to do with being a xbox fan or a Sony fan. The sales numbers speak for itself. If you cant see the truth, open your eyes. I could post sales numbers if you want. PlayStation 3 can't handle the power of what 2K is going to do with this game. It's going to expand 360's full potential and reveal the fact that the PS3's specs were all talk, because its not running on a Cell Processor, but actually a Core 2 Duo.

Hopefully 2k will go about this smartly. I dont have a particular liking in the PS3 Console, but I would say that if 2k doesn't make this game on PS3 just for the hell of it then they are really turning lazy. I mean the PS3 IS in fact the strongest system on the market now and it also has a decent amount of fanbase. Why take the risk of losing money on not releasing it when you can take a favorable risk and make lots of money by releasing it for the PS3 Console. It is a progessively growing system and in 08 the PS3 will probally be the biggest system out or have the best year out of the three systems so why not. Or in other words I hope that they are just delaying it so they can focus on one console at a time.

Interesting side note, I actually read on the Nelson reports a few days ago (I wish I could find the link, sorry :() that all of the last gen consoles are still being used more on a daily basis than the current gen.

That means more people are still playing PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. I just thought that was pretty interesting :)

I don't care what the Sony marketing guys claim the specs the PS3 is supposed to have, if none of us were given those specs, judging by the games that have come out for both the 360 and the PS3, no one would ever try to argue that the PS3 is superior by any stretch of the imagination.

And no, it is NOT a "favorable risk" to make this game in particular for the PS3 for a couple of reasons. #1, this is 2K's first crack at a boxing game, they best spend their time and resources on getting the game right without having to worry about #2, making a port for the PS3 that will be inferior in terms of graphics, load times, frame rates, as evidenced by 90% of the games that were released for both the 360 and the PS3 at the same time, and #3, even if Prizefighter turns out to be the absolute, most realistic and most fun boxing game ever created in the entire solar system in the history of mankind, it is still "only" boxing, which is nowhere close to having the popularity of the NBA or the NFL, and will only appeal to the serious boxing fans.

Brinkman held a press release for the PS3 news on IGN. He's not going to tell such an interview, "Yeah, the PS3 is not a very good system and I'd stick with the 360 if it was my choice. However, I am forced to create a PS3 version and we hope that our one PS3 graphics designer will pull a miracle". He seemed to be very careful in how he compared the two versions.I'm sure if it was a 360 interview, same rhetoric, but pro 360. Welcome to one sided interviews. Heck, Gilbert Arenas is talking about how great Live 08 is, but we already know which game he reallylikes better. That's just how a biased report goes.

Anyways, Take Two is probably not designing a PS3 version for a few possible reasons.

- Microsoft wants it exclusive for the 360
- Venom Games don't have the time or rescources to make a PS3 version
- Venom Games may have not recieved PS3 development kits in time
- Take Two doesn't want to risk a new IP to the market and release this game to a very
small PS3 consumer base
- Take Two wants to have a wait and see approach and see how the game does on the 360

Gaming publishers choose where they want their games to go. Sega has their exlusives on certain systems, and many other publishers do it too. There's isn't much that can be done about it. It's just life in a videogame world where there are 3 different consoles that each have their own specific ways to develop for.

thats only a rumor, no one knows for sure if takes two is making money on their sports tittles, or not. but not having the NFL deal within them was going to haunt them sooner or latter.
