View Full Version : Wrap Around Scoring Bug Makes Online Play impossible

Well I guess everyone knows if you do a wrap around, you're bound to score about 90% of the time. Everyone seems to do the same move and score succesfully online. Theres a few people left who don't exploit the bug, but most do, and thus games are out of hand.

Is there anything the designers of this game can do? Its completely un-realistic. You'll see a guy with 3 players wide open and instead he'll take it himself, go wide to the net then cut back and bang, goal. A otherwise pretty good game is pretty much unplayable online due to this bug and the vast number of people who exploit it.

If your playing normal or arcade rank games there not much you can really do. I don't know what system your using but for 360 you can do custom game and make it look for sim games only.

If you play in sim games you can stop all those goals with good defence.

I use box +1 defence and call to clear the crease everytime they come over my blue line.
This will take away the right and left side of the net so they can't pull wraparounds. You also pull your foward to the front of the net to take away the drive to the net. best thing to do is stay infont of him, going for the check might miss and you could get score on. Also poke check.

like i said it works for sim play, the normal and arcade is to fast and is more of a scoring game. having scores like 15-2 is not hockey, atleast not NHL hockey.

Thanks for the reply, I'll give it a try, but its just annoying that if you try hard enough, you know you can score a goal at pretty much anytime you want.

You should play me i can prove you can't, if there a guy who can score at will in sim games i haven't played them yet i guess. I play with 29 other guys in my league and there still good bunch of SO.

all i can say is try to give them nothing and never give them a clear shot to the net, best shot on defence are the ones that don't make it to the net. with ok players you have about a 50/50 chance of them not scoring on a break-a-way but the skilled guys i give them 70/30.

70/30 chance of scoring is sim right? i highly suggest against playing aka ao bc if you read his sig, he is the #1 guy on the sim rank leaders board. if i could only find that board. lmao.

The sim lobby has always provided me great games. Because of the slowdown of gamespeed, ice friction, and general sim slider settings, the game so far has played great. I've played the arcade lobby once and completely despised it. I've had nothing but great games in the sim lobby.

sleepy, i was referring to con man saying to me before "there are no cheese goals" when i was in his "sim" league. i had complained about several moves that i have seen described on this site and his replies were "there are no cheese goals. i really dont think the odds of scoring 7 of ten times is really sim.

sleepy, what settings do you use that i could download? i am always looking for a more sim experience.

fyi, if you are interested, i have one spot left in my league (islanders). if you are interested private message me.

For arguments sake.

A flat out breakaway with an All-Star forward would go in more than 7 out of 10 in real life.

Does your league have a draft or just updated rosters?

well, going against a lesser goalie possibly, but i always lean on the side of the guy wearing 300 pounds of gear, lol.

then again, i AM a flyers fan....
that explains my lack of fair in one on one goals.... lol.

league is filled, but there will always be open spots from people who cant hang. it is updated rosters......
send me a friend request so i can update you when something opens.

I don't know. Crosby vs. Luongo, I bet Crosby takes 7 of 10 easily.

You'd think a Flyers fan would be of the opinion that goalies will lose that battle more often...should I run down the list? ... :D... hmmm... Esche, Cechmanek, Boucher, Nittymaki, Burke, Ouellette, Hackett, Pelletier, Snow...I think I coulda scored on some of those guys 7 out 10.

Hope you are enjoying Lupul cause I'm really enjoying Pitkanen.

you do make a good point with all the flyers goalies, BUT i am MORE familiar with all the flyers who have what me and my fellow flyers fans call "flyeritis". that is an illness where the flyers create an allergic reaction to the puck and when everytime they shoot it, they manage to get the puck to avoid the neet altogether. lol.
another thing with all those flyers goalies, they were FANTASTIC on 1vs1s and 2vs1s, it was the shots from the blue line which they always had problems with lol.
we are enjoying lupul alot, i have wanted him since he came in the league so when they got him it was GREAT. joni always showed LOTS of promise as an offensive forward but he had a tendency to turn over the puck ALOT and also was never tough enough. he got pushed around far too often. when they nhl was on strike, he had a monster year for the phantoms, then when the nhl came back he dropped off.

I could easily be wrong, but I have not experienced any problem with wrap-arounds on my side of the blue line. I shifted my defense and someone would have to be extremely lucky to pull one off.
