I do!

They could have it where you can skip it or do it.

It shouldn't boost stats for the game or anything like that, because I could see it getting out of controll like how the pitching did in 2k7(pitchers who normally throw in the low 90's start hitting 99mph as the game progresses), but this time you'll see a hitter belting 2-3 HR's a game on a daily basis...That would be lame , so it should just be to get you into a good hitting rhythm.

i think it would be a great idea for batting practice... you would get to warm up your eye so your would already be able to see the ball better and it would just be more realistic.... i love going to reds games early and watching batting practice... especially like when bonds was ever in town... bp would make the game a little more entertaining

yeah thats actually not a bad idea, just as a side option perhaps make it a semi mini game to with a coach saying hit it to RF LF CF bunt, ground ball etc.. this would make the BP jerseys have purpose too.

and perhaps the same could go for warming up starters. but like u said have all this stuff optional.

The only thing close to batting practice in 2k7, is the HR Derby....I play one before I start a game.It helps me cut down on my strike outs in the first inning.Especially if I haven't played the game in a few weeks.

i would prefer to have warmup pitches especially when a new pitcher comes in. I hate bringing in a reliever in a tough situation and the guys pitching icon is so much faster and the next thing you know you throw a wild pitch

Warmup pitches for relievers actually sounds like an awesome idea. Get a feel for all his pitches so you have an idea of how he's throwing.

As for pregame bp, that sounds good, though I wouldn't mind having a very small stat boost if you had one guy in specific just mashing so he was locked in a bit for the game. Same goes for if he hit badly, he would be having "mechanics issues" or something and would have a tougher time in the game. Or you could decide to bench him if he did bad. maybe you could pick 2 or 3 guys and take 5 cuts with each before the game. Just an idea. Either way I'm way more excited for hitting simly because they redid the code. It was so unrealistic. Pitching was so frustrating, you'd throw two fastballs up and in and then come back with a change up low and away, right on the black and POW! three run shot

I've never thought about batting practice before, and I must say I'm digging the idea. Here's what I propose: in Madden '08 you have the option to train 3 players prior to each game, and by completing the little mini game challenges the players get a little boost (little being the key word). Players can only be trained so many times per season so that they don't improve in an unrealistic manner. So pitchers can have some bullpen practice, hitters can take bp, fielders can field some grounders and shag flies, baserunners can do sprinting drills, ets. So if Jimmy Rollins practiced the baserunning drill successfully then he would get a boost to his speed rating, and after completing so many baserunning drills, then he gets a 1 or 2 point increase to his speed. It is especially nice when you're trying to develop younger players. The best thing Madden did with this pregame ritual though is this: if you don't want to do the stuff, then don't! If you choose not to do it then your players will not be penalized in any way for not completing the practice. I know in NFL 2k5, if you didn't sort out your team's entire week, then they would loose attribute points, so you were required to do all of the pregame stuff. Sometimes I just want to play a game real quick before class or something, and other times I want to be totally captivated by the experience, so it's nice to have both options.

Just bring back the batting mode in MVP 05/ 06. It wasn't batting practice but it was very similar. You were told where to hit the ball i.e. left/ right/ center, ground ball, fly ball. Then you'd receive points for doing so correctly. I'd really want to have a batting practice mode in which I can command the pitcher exactly what type of pitch and location I want to see. Allow me to practice vs. any pitcher in the league. Give me some looks at Zito's curveball, Lowe's sinker, Beckett's fastball.

I agree to some of that, although it was fun it was on some lame field, I'd want it on the stadium your playing in with fans coming in and reporters on the field with soome stretches and what not going on on the side of the field.

Great idea! it would add alot of more features and fun to do. if the pitcher struggles with his control make him work with the pitching coach and work on hitting the corners. good idea for the game

that would be so cool to see fans slowly filtering in to the stadium while players are still taking BP.

Yeah man for sure u could see them walking in groups and down isles getting into there seats and all that have some people buying cotton candy and what not watch them puttin banners up it'd be awesome, all this while ur just hackin away in a cage or practicing some DP's or warming up in the pen. True baseball atmosphere.

This is going a bit far but for stadiums if they had line up previews where you could hear the announcer in the stadium going on like today your line up for your Texas Rangers are batting first and playing whatever yadyadayada It shoudlnt make the stadium go crazy or anything cuz its just a regular season game. but just announce them and have there pictures on the screens in the stadium while your batting with a few low reactions from the crowd

but then for the playoffs actually do walk ons with line ups down the lines, AT LEAST for the world series

December 17th, 2007, 05:07 PM
yea... i hope they wouldnt make the field empty and have you taking batting practice .. theres Full rosters on the field at that time .. but they are surrounded by blocks .. that would have to be included .. and have people shaggin the fly balls in the out field .. TRUST ME 2K it would be played almost everytime .. and for online play just dont include it if you think that'll get in the way

yes this would be unbelieveable and it would just be the first 5-10 minutes of the game your about to play.

This is what sells, people love remembering thier childhood and why they really got into and loved this sport. if you can sell something that can make peoples emotions run high you;re looking at one of the best games ever not just sports games either one of the best games period.

people just want their minds blown, tug on the right strings and you can make millions.

man i wish i could work for 2k or Sony.
