Actually, the game needs a way so that fighters can throw either hard punches or soft, setup punches. The haymaker, in theory, was a good idea. Some fighters come out bombs away or will try to end the fight on one punch sometime during the bout. But on FN, the haymakers could be exploited in a very arcadish manner.
I think 2K's game should have some type of haymaker type punch, but you shouldn't be able to throw it all game and there shouldn't be any crazy sound or graphic effects with it. But having a haymaker gives a fighter a shot for a one-punch KO if his opponent gets too lazy, which is just like in real life.
And of course, blocking or dodging a haymaker should make the guy who threw it more tired and open for counters, but not w/ a 5 sec parry.

I agree. Punches like that just make the game more arcade like. They should concentrate on the fighter's real life best punch instead of giving him some cartoon-like super punch.
Like if you had Tommy Hearns in this game, just put more emphasis on his potent right cross and make it a dangerous weapon that opponents would surely be leery of when they fight him. Just like they did with the football players in All Pro. None of them have superhuman stuff, but they do have their best weapons like the strength of Earl Campbell, the quickness of Barry Sanders or the rocket arm of Dan Marino. They should have that in this game, which each boxer having his real life best weapons in his arsenal, but it shouldn't be to over the top or cartoonish. Don't make all fighters fight the same. There's nothing wrong with having a haymaker punch if it's done properly, but Fight Night's was a joke.

If theres a way to specify what the fighters power hand is or thier most lethal punch, they could always use the bumpers and touch sensitive controls... I don't know how to explain it but say if the left hook is the fighters strongest blow, you could hold down the left bumper and Hold in the left hook button and move in towards the opponent, when you let the button go it would fire off a super powerful left hook (but without a crazy animation). If its a Jab, you do the same thing but with the jab button, or use the triggers to do the same thing but towards the body, and then apply the same thing to the right hand and bumper/trigger. But there would have to be a punch specific rating system. And a two fisted heavy hitter ala Mike Tyson, should be able to do it with both hands. This should also tire you out depending on your stamina level. If your power rating is very high and your opponent has a weak to moderate chin, he should get knocked down or out with just one of those punches. if his chin has a high rating it should be a coin toss as to weather he is affected by it or not, but it should definatly do damage, esp. if he is taking that type of punishment over the rounds.

and if they allow you to hit a fighter as he is falling like they did in one of the fight nights, they need to keep you on the canvas and not let you get up. I used to knock someone down and when the animation started I would hit them like 5 6 7 times flush and they would get right back up. Anyone remember Tommy Morrison vs Ray Mercer, when Mercer taxed Morrison with about 15 punches as he fell to the canvas on his face? He needed help getting up off the canvas and sat on that stool in the corner drooling on himself. They need to make that happen.

Samp and switch you guys or right on point. I was thinking the same thing say a fighter like Tyson should have TnT in both hands so you would have to try to survive the onslaughtof 4rds or more and exploit his stamina but if he caught you with one punch left or right no matter what RD. it could be over.:box: :box:

Yeah I do believe they need some sort of system for KO's like fighter specific punches. Like Cotto's left hook to the body or like the check hook Mayweather laid Hatton out with. That haymaker crap from ea was garbage because it was just haymaker after haymaker no one actually used boxing skill. The fighters movements also need to be more fluid.

Yea maybe include an energy level, if energy level is up then he can throw haymakers, then if energy level is low then no ability.
So then boxer has to dodge and escape from punches to regain energy.

Guys i dont mind hay makers so much but it should be hard to land, and no arcady graphic ( ugly looking ) haymaker ...Just a regular haymaker but like ive said it should be easy to counter or to dodge it.
WHat i dont want to see is the JUDGE JAB, SIN CROSS, etc....Those special punches that fight night had was just AWFUL !! Everybody started using judge jab or sin cross when using custom fighters and it just put everything away like the hook master or lethal uppercuts but all in all i think there should be no punches like that but they should make
jabs given to fighters that know how to use the jab but it shouldnt take your energy down so much but instead it should DISRUPT the other fighter punches coming in , or it should just effect the other fighter in some way by slowing his momentum down or slowing his forward approach if hes a come forward fighter that is....Something like that but not SOMETHING LIKE A JUDGE JAB where the other fighter energy goes down so much inside of 2 rounds.
Cut down on the zillion combos from round 1 to round 12.
STAMINA, STAMINA , STAMINA !! If this is implemented then i feel we wont see like so many combos being thrown every fight and instead fighters will have to defend , and counter
ofcourse the lightweights and just a handful in the upper weights can throw so many punches but not all fighters should be able to do so and WHOEVER DOES THROW SO MANY COMBOS should get a disadvantage in the later rounds !!

One thing I hope that they do take from EA is the Fight Stick.

Just don't add anything that Chillpill does in fight night round 3. which are...
1). Abuse haymker combos off of 10 second parry's
2). Abuse the stamina boost to ur advantage and throw a zillion combo's
3). Parry jabs with 2-3 uppercuts
4). Throw millions of combos and not get tired and still able to come forward
5). Abuse the parry system
***kin dirty lil btch.
