Why mention this game and then just close the door on it and bring no information about it? lol great marketing team this game has... It has been weeks and all we got is a blank Game page and a full forum! can we get some more information please??? A photo, anything, any information. We get one half a** posting, and then some rambling Don King video, sounding drunk on himself as always... This is annoying.
:hi: we're waiting

They are doing nothing wrong or different from any other developer.
This is just your impatience because we've been waiting for this. News will come, just live your life until it does.

I'm with you. I think they should've had a little something to show when they announced the game. And it's not like it's coming out in a year or 2, it'll be out in a few months. 2K has been known to do this though so i'm kinda used to it. Poor marketing or smart marketing? I guess it depends on how you look at it. But hey, what choice do we have? Hopefully we'll get to see something soon.

its not bad.. what i hope for tho is they dont just feed us that same page and no new info until like 2 days before it comes out.. kinda like they did with nba 2k8.. or was it all-pro.. can't remember one of their recent games.. what they did for now is simply state.. "hey guys.. we're making a boxing game"

Truthfully, marketing this way is not smart marketing in my eyes. Ive been in Sales, Marketing, Advertising for the last 4 years and I know a lot about it. First off you have your Supply Vs. Demand, kind of like the Wii is doing. They do well at marketing, as soon as they hit the shelves they hit the cash registers. Then you have your Guerilla marketing, its unconventional and it uses bare minimum resources for the maximum result, kind of like EA did. Their are to many to name in just one shot here. The "marketing" that 2k is using is a poor attempt if any at all. Simply releasing the product with no knowledge just shows a poor understanding of what the consumers want. Sure I can release a statment saying that I am going to release a Boxing game. I really think this game will be delayed, one because of the GREAT marketing of Grand Theft Auto being released the same quarter. Two because this game is still in heavy development and will be for a while if they want to release a quality product.
So far 2k is following the guerilla marketing. Can any of you guess why?!

how do you recommend they should've gone about it then? i believe if they went the opposite route and advertised the game along with what it's going to have, its features, the names on the box.. it's kinda releasing some vital info out there that may come back to bite them in the rear when they release it.. especially when it's not coming into market anytime soon.. it may backfire because they have competitors out there and once they see what they have to offer it gives them the upper hand in trying to innovate something in their own version of boxing which will counterract yours.. if you dont release much info, it keeps your competition guessing until it's about to come out

most big games do that they release the news that it is confirmed that the game is in development and then later they release different stuff slowly

Well would you all agree that the competition gets their hand on the game when its released? Sure 2k wants to be the first to release whatever innovative system they may develop but, in order for a marketing scheme to work.....you need to market! Now EA, who is their lone competion, has not released a game for a while although they are in the works right now. I dont care if you belive me but they quoted somewhere that "they are very excited to take advantage of the Wii's capabilities and possibly create a new revolutionary boxing sim. Now from just reading this, it shows me more marketing in 5 less paragraphs as well as the direction they are taking. Now im not bashing anyone but 2K needs to confirm something in the game as little as it may be such as a career mode, different camera angles, is their going to be create a player. Something that has been in previous boxing titles that cant be "STOLEN" (which crakes me up by the way, in anymarket the competition takes from one another, this actually creates quality products it doesnt destroy them) but anyways something that shows, "Hey this game is running Forward full head of steam and we are confident that the consumers will fall in love with this product."

I think that 2K Sports just saw an opportunity to announce the game at a major videogame event. Who knows, maybe behind the scenes, everything just got worked out regarding the contracts, licenses, Don King, etc, at the very last minute. Hence, not having anything prepared to show the fans. Let's be honest though, this game seems to be aiming for the hardcore boxing fan, and we are more than happy to finally get an official word from 2K, after many, many months of deliberating whether or not they were even making a boxing game. At least we got a "Spring 2008" release. That's better than the UFC trailer with Jackson vs Liddell, which looked really cool but didn't tell the fans when they should expect the game to come out.

I hope you're right. I hope that 2K is aiming towards the hardcore boxing fans with this game because that would mean that the game would have to be realistic as possible.
