View Full Version : Unrealistic Game stats...

Hey guys. I'm obviously new to the forum, and I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I've been an avid Madden player over the past 15 years or so, but really liked the idea of this game and so I jumped into 2k sports.
I'm used to being on the football-freaks.com forums for madden, where they do extensive testing and research on game sliders and options to increase game and statistic realism.
What really bothers me about this game is the completely unrealistic game statistics. It makes playing a season feel completely pointless. I mean, after like 6 games, my QB has only about 500 passing years, where the league leader is somewhere around 2k, and the next to lowest passing yards (one guy above me) is over 1k. Has anyone come up with a way to help fix this?
I'm using the default settings, being 5 min quarters with acc. clock. The games go by fast, which is fun, but it's difficult to get over 100 yards rushing and 250 yards passing.
Anyone?
Thanks,
Is0

I never played much offline. But, I would suggest to turn off the accelerated clock.

I'm with South.. I've had games with over 300 yards with OJ Simpson.
2K games aren't about overanalyzing stats to seem realistic. It gets it's "sim" status by trying to have the on-field physics and momentum of human's tackling each other seem more realistic.
I've had online games with both players averaging less than 1 yard per rush and I've had games where both average 10+ per rush. The game doesn't try to force certain stats, but instead tries to get the physics as realistic as possible. It really is up to the game players to control if their stats are high or low.
I've had scores of 55-45 and triple overtime games tied 3-3. The stats in the game are really limitless in this game.. whether high or low.

The problem is the accelerated clock. I remember there was a topic about this months ago. When the game calculates the stats from simulated games, it tries to take into account the accelerated clock and it screws up the numbers.
Turn that off and see what happens.

Yea, I have noticed that the physics in this game are far superior to that of Madden. But I also believe that in order for a game to be considered a Football Sim, rather than an Arcade style football game (I.E. Blitz), statistical realism needs to be a factor.
I'm also not talking about how many yards are accumulated or AVG yards or even touchdowns, but rather attempts. I would say that during an average NFL game, a single running back runs 20+ times. With this game, it seems difficult to really achieve that, unless you simply devote that game to running the ball. It goes the same for the QB. I'd say in the average NFL game, 35+ pass attempts is not an overestimate. I've never even gotten NEAR those numbers on APF2K8.
It's not that the game, in all it's superior physics technology, is in anyway boring. It's addicting and exciting. But I'm also getting tired of checking the league stats and leaders, and always seeing my players at the VERY bottom of that list.
I guess I'll do some testing perhaps, and post my results on here. 12 minute quarters on acc. clock is what I played on other football games, but that may be a bit much for this game.
I was just wondering if anyone else has already tested this?

I haven't... most players here are online only players. 2K really made this game for online players who were still playing NFL 2K5 even 2 years after it lost the license and could no longer update their rosters.
The accelerated clock is a 2K8 creation. On one hand, I like cuz it saves time.. but dislike for the same reasons you mentioned: It makes rush/pass attempt non-realistic.
2K5 wasn't like this.. I'd usually have 15-20+ rushes with 15-20+ passing attempt. XBOX 360 online actually turned OFF acc. clock. PS3 no update for... yet at least.

Offline I play on Legend without changing any of the sliders, 5 min quarters my stats are pretty realistic.
If your QB only hs 500 yards after 5 games you need to practice more. I usually have about 15 rushing attempts and 25-30 pass attempts.

You have to remember that the golds and some silvers are Hall of Fame players, so thats why they are so good.
Also, look at Madden's stats, all of the HBs have like over 2000 yards, and they aren't even Hall of Famers. The QBs in Madden also have like 50 Tds, and 3 Ints.

Yeah, I used to play offline on Legend difficulty, and I have no problems passing or running.
Maybe you should try using a gold or silver quarterback???

Try 7 minutes with the accelerated clock on, and play on legend. The numbers will be about right. 15-25 carries and 20-35 passing plays happens regularly for me at that level. You'll also see more defensive snaps.

Is it really going to make any difference in the amount of attempt opportunities if I play on Legend compared to any other difficulty? To be completely honest, I've been playing on Pro (I probably would be doing considerably better, but I'm playing a season with my younger brother [co-op if you will], and well, he's not as good as I), and my stats are still low. Granted I'm still winning every game, but it just doesn't add up.
I'll be trying first, 5 minute no acc. clock. And then 7 min acc. clock, and post the results.

I think they are silly to recommend Legend, imo.
You are new to the game, obviously you should start out on Rookie and work upwards as it becomes too easy at each level. Don't move from Pro to All-Pro/Legend until you can pass for more than 100 yards in a game.
Plus 5:00 min Qtrs are for picking your plays quick. I pick mine by 35 on the playclock most times... rarely go below 31-32.

I'm with South. I have many games where I get 200-300 rushing yards with my silver CAP (Strength Bonus, Power), Antonio Bethea.

I was looking at it from the view point of realism only, not skill level. Playing on legend provides are real challenge. Playing with the accelerated clock on and longer quarters helps mimic the flow of a real game. Either way the end decision is yours and I hope you enjoy the game.

Is he related to Antoine Bethea (Colts Safety) in any way?
