With shocking news, Coach Robert Moreland was fired or should I state it "left" Texas Southern earlier today. He said one thing to the staff, the school, and the players "It is my time to leave and I am sorry for everything I've done." I've walked around classrooms and officies. I did not see one smile in one person's face. I was shocked myself and during Math class I couldn't think straight until I got detention. The Head Coaching poistion is out for grabs right now. General Manager Kevin Adams has called several young and I should say talented coaches. I think looking at every coach, he called, bio's, my favorite had to be John Sanders. The man has tooken his Stonefield High School basketball team to 6 state titles. If Adams has any brains he should really consider him.
After hardworking, thinking and stressing out, Kevin Adams finally found the right coach for Texas Southern and his name is John Sanders. John Sanders grew up around Dallas, Texas in his childhood days but then went to Stonefield, Wisconsin. for the rest of his life. He played middle shcool ball and high school ball there. Then graduated high school and got a degree in Arts and Science at Rutgers. Then began his 13 years of coaching his own high school at Stonefield. Now he is back at Texas and coaching the Texas Southern Tigers.
I have called up Mr. Sanders and he has agreed to have a one on one interview with me later sometime after his press conerference or I would say ceremony. I can't wait.

After a great ceromony to greet John Sanders to Texas Southern, I caught up with the new Head Coach and had a one on one coach by myself.
Me: Hello Mr. Sanders. Welcome to Texas Southern.
Sanders: Thanks. It's a really great honor to be here at Texas Southern.
Me: First question, what are your goals with the kids this year?
Sanders: Well I want to asstablish a very good relationship with these kids. I know these guys can compete for great things in the future. Robert Moreland called me up before the ceremony and he told me words that really got emotional to me. He told me I want you to do better than me. These kids deserve better. It made choke up a little bit. My second goal is the same with ym assistant coaches. I am the only white person on this staff and I don't want that to go between this relationship we will have.
Me: Great. Now the first practice is tomorrow. What are some things your gonna do?
Sanders: I want to first get in a circle and introduce each other even though they might know each other already. Then I will get the seniors and they will tell the young guys like the Freshmans and the Sopohmores about Coach Moreland. Then it's off to the drills and stuff.
Me: I will defintly attend. One last question, what is your predicted record this year?
Sanders: Ha. Well I'm gonna guess here and say 14-14 if we have those many games. I don't think we can win 20 games yet unless this guys really and I mean REALLY wanna play this year but that is my predicted record for this year.
Me: Well thanks for the time Coach Sanders and hopefully I'll see you tomorrow at practice.
Sanders: Great see ya there.
I will attend the first 2007-2008 Texas Southern practice and recap the day. Then I will get myself the exclusive Texas Southern Opening Day Roster(starting lineup, bench) and the Schedule poeple fans and studnets are dying to have.
*might not get all this stuff in. Gotta watch RAW.

The first day of practice was great for the Texas Southern. The flow of the offense led by PG Domnique White was flawless with him passing the ball like Steve Nash. Now I couldn't wait for opening day to come. Coach Sanders had a big smile on his face. Team Capitan Jacques Jones led the team yelling a lot and playing his heart out and using the glass a lot. And of course Sollie Norwood knocking down any jmupshot he see's. He was open most of the time but did hit most of his shots. They even got it down low with Matthew Bell. I finally got the Opening Day Starting Lineup and also the Schedule.
Schedule
11/10- at TXAM-CC
11/14 at UT-Arlington
11/18 at UTEP
11/21 at Houston
11/24 at 12 Kentucky
11/28 at 18 Texas
12/8 at TCU
12/15 vs Sam Houston St.
12/17 at Purdue
12/19 at Iowa St.
12/22 Jackpot Challenge B
12/29 vs UTEP
1/7 vs Southern
1/12 vs Prarie View
1/17 vs Alcorn St.
1/19 at Grambling
1/21 at Jackson St.
1/24 at Alcorn St.
1/28 vs Ark.-Pine Bluff
2/2 at Alabama St.
2/4 at Alabama A&M
2/9 at Prarie View
2/16 vs Grambling
2/18 vs Jackson St.
2/21 at Miss. Valley St.
2/25 at Ark.-Pine Bluff
2/27 vs Miss. Valley St.
3/1 vs Alabam St.
3/3 vs Alabama A&M
3/8 at Southern.
As you can see Texas Southern has to travel a lot of games but in Conerference play they got more home games. I will travekl with the team every game and get a full game recap and player stats and catch up with Coach Sanders after every game.
Starting Lineup
PG- #12 Domnique White 61 ovr
SG- #31 Sollie Norwood 65 ovr
SF- #22 David Burrell 62 ovr
PF- #15 Jacques Jones 68 ovr
C- #33 Matthew Bell 58 ovr
When I mentioned Jacques Jones was the leader on the team, I was 100% sure about that. I got news that every night, Jones skims the playbook and he never knows what movie is gonna come out or what the Duke vs North Carolina score was. He doesn't care. He loves 2 things. Family and Basketball.
Next for the Tigers is TXAM-CC.

Scroll down a couple of pages and you will see a post regaring sliders from Cincy. They are for MOP however, but trust me they are good. As long as you work the ball around and don't make stupid passes you will win the games you should and pull off a few upsets. I have used them for 2 years and avg around 5-8 losses but I think my margin of victory is less then 6 points, so its fun because I rareley blow out an opponent. Makes for a very exciting year.
