They are gonna continue to extend this contract every chance they get and there's no way your gonna outbid EA,so do the next best thing and stick it to them hard. Full customization. No limits. Give us gamers the freedom to do what we want. Forget about the rules. No 11 legends and the rest generics. Let us do what we want and I guarantee you that you will sell a s**tload.

Let us EDIT anything we want, players names, team names,cities,logos,etc... After seeing the new deal go down,I'm convinced that 2k will NEVER make another NFL game again. EA is just that greedy and until you realize it 2k,your gonna get hammered. Bring back all those things that made 2k5 so great like the animations from the fans and the players on the sidelines. Weather girl giving reports, robust pregame, halftime.postgame, and superbowl shows. Here's a few things they need to do to really compete with EA

1.Full customization,to be able to EDIT ANYTHING!!!!

2.Create a player- not enough faces and lacked other qualities like hair style, hand warmers,etc...

3.Create a stadium- Since we're building our own team, why not a stadium as well???

4.Creating teams- I think there should be an option to save all your uniform codes and then just go into the menu and click on the one you wanty to choose. They dont have to players on the team for this, just the uniforms so we dont have to keep typing in the codes since they are long as hell!!!!!

5.Game speed- I personally like the game speed, but some people prefer it faster. So why not make everyone happy??

6.Kicking-Kickoffs should be longer. I cant ever hit it past the 5 yd line, unless I use one of my picks on a kicker.

7.Graphics- Do something about those faces 2k,especially those eyes.Add more lighting and better grass texture

8.Commentary- we need new material.its getting old.

9.Replays- I dont know if its been fixed, but it barely ever plays replays for me.

10.Plays-I know there's alot of plays in the game, but you still need create a play

11.custom music- One of my favorite features!!!!

12.Tackling- Throw in some sweet mid air collision animations and other bone crushing tackles and flips..lol

13.Franchise- Some kind of multi season mode for the franchise junkies!!!!!

14.Spectator mode- Tell me that wouldnt be awesome.maybe not this years but soon.

15.Import pics, logos with approval so there's nothing bad getting put up.

It sux to see such a great company like 2k get shut out by a bunch of pansies who only care about money. What a shame. EA games suck, they are unrealistic and not very fun anymore. They've gotten lazy with next gen and felt the heat with 2k8 and the possible threat it brings to them,so they hit not just 2k where it hurts but us gamers,AGAIN!!!!

2k if your reading this, then grow some hair and show us what next gen is all about!!!!!

Uh... until you guys stop trying to recreate the NFL Madden and its license will have the upper hand.

2ksports just needs to put out the best generic game: Gameplay, Options, Modes, AI, etc...

When that game comes out and is actually better than Madden then and only then will the license stuff stop.

Put out a game where we have to scout to have a good team rather than live off NFL names.
So many want franchise, so there you have it. I mean if you really want franchise that is.

But the gameplay options has to be tight.
With this they can offer upgrades at anytime and not be stuck with an annual full upgrade.
Just work on any bugs that make it through the system, but fix them faster.
Make sure they close out the possibilities of superman player creation.
Etc...

If 2k continues to put out a good game I'll buy it over Madden any day.

GoodSense,

you dont understand bro, anything that is not "NFL" with not be taken seriously by the non 2k gamer... If it doesn't have "NFL" many people will not play it... Full customization will give 2k the opportunity to have the gamers "create" their own NFL, and allow the gamers to pass their files on to others... Only then my friend will EA be taken off their pedestal... If we keep playing with generic names, and teams, then we will never be taken seriously, there will not be a madden nation type following unless there is the ability to play nfl style football... Anything the nfl touches turns to gold, and that license is worth every penny EA paid for it, thats why they bought it... They dont have to make any changes to their game, because they dont have too, they change producers every damn year, why do you think that is?

the fact is, this, full customization NEEDS to be implemented into APF2k9, because after awhile, playing with generic names and teams just isn't fun anymore, no matter how good the gameplay is...

If 2k was able to get some kind of deal where they had the right to use all the retired players they wanted I think things could get interesting. I know that right now they are using individual contracts but if they could put 100's of "legends" into the game that would be very cool. I love the abilities system and hopefully that stays the same, and I also really like the tier system. But what if we were able to compile a team of all legends. The 2 Golds, and 3 Silvers 6 bronze should not change. But what if there was a pool of other players who played in the nfl that would fill up the rest of your roster. If they had rights to use all retired players this would make the Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers much deeper. My personal opinion is that quite a few of the people currently at the Bronze level would fall into this category. Having another pool of players would allow people to play with names that they know and recognize from years past. Players like Andre Ware, shouldn't be a bronze level player, but someone like Robert Brazile should be.
This most likely isn't feasible but it might make for a very cool game I think. It would do away with generics, which I think is kind of a turn off. Getting that license though could end up being very pricey I am sure. I am just really hoping they come out with AP2K9 in some way shape or form. I love the game, i would be happy with more legends and some game play tightening.

forget legends make it total customization they should package both games together
apf2k9 and nfl 2k5 when you own both you can upgrade graphics and game play on nfl2k5 to apf2k9 there is nothing against the law about that as long as you use the same feature and rosters from 2k5 they got nothing to say lol i have seen many games do this they should really look into it who cares if its called 2k5 i bet it would outsell madden 09 that would be a laugh

What 2k should do in my opinion is scrap w/e they been doing with 2k9 if they have been doing anything to begin with and add natural motion. I believe if I'm correct they have this or something similar. Then make a fully customizable game like most of you guys are suggesting. Include 2k5 style presentation as well and features. There you go, you should have a instant hit. But until they have something ground breaking to draw in more new players, dont expect 2k9 to be a hit. Natural motion would draw in alot of new fans to the series especially with 2k's great ability to make some of the best animation in sports games ever. Imagine 2k with natural motion especially how good their animations are without it.

I dont think they can pick up Natural Motion while Natural Motion is making a football game right now. Maybe Next Year.
And Natural Motion is the Company, thier products, Euphoria and Morpheme, are the big parts of in game design.

I totally agree. Fully customizable. No reason not to now.
