HORNETS SIGN YOUNG CARSON AS HEAD COACH

REPORTER 1: Coach, how does it feel to be coaching Division I ball after your short Division II career with the Chargers of Alabama Huntsville?

CARSON: Its the opportunity i've been longing for. When i was in college at Alabama i dreamed about how amazing it would be to get a start like this while i'm still in my twenties and its arrived. Its unreal.

REPORTER 2: One problem at Huntsville was your players lack of respect toward you because of your age, how do you expect to handle this with players of much more talent?

CARSON: I'm sorry, i don't recall any respect issues? I led that team to 2 straight conference championships. I feel that that requires a descent amount of respect so if there is any speculations they are false.

REPORTER 2: But it says here one of your players, a Mark Griswold stated that he could, quote, "get by with anything, we just horsed around all practice. It was hard to take Eric seriously," unquote.

CARSON: Yes. That particular player did not receive the amount of playing time he thought he deserved BECAUSE of that kind of attitude. Those comments were perhaps out of jealousy or maybe he was mad at me for giving him the limited playing time.

REPORTER 3: What are your goals for the 07-08 season?

CARSON: Well, i feel that we need to maintain a .500 or better overall record and get 12 wins in our conference. It would also be nice if we could get a ranked win to get our name out there.

REPORTER 3: What about a NCAA Tournament appearance like Alabama St. was able to get in 2006?

CARSON: Haha, well lets not get to ahead of our selves. That would be nice but i think i'll just strive for my goals that i have set.

(pause)

CARSON: Thank you.

HORNETS OF ALABAMA ST. GET POUNDED BY SMU

Coach Carson's debut was one to forget as he fell to SMU by a final score of 44-69. R. Cuffe led SMU and was nominated player of the game with 14 points while shooting 100% beyond the arch (3-3). The Hornets built an early 7 point lead 11-4 but that was the only glory they had all game. Point guard V. Hite could not hit as he finished the game with a low 2 points.

#10 MARQUETTE GETS EASY THIRD WIN VS. ALABAMA ST.

Tonight was another bad night for the Hornets. As Marquettes center, Odla, sped away with 17 points shooting lights out 7-11 from the field, Hornet shooting continues to struggle. Even thought 3 of their players were found in double digits, many shots were taken, few fell. Kason Bryan led his team with 15 points shooting 75% past the stripe. Our own reporter Stacy Wendel caught up with ASU coach Carson after the game:

WENDEL: Did you expect a better first 2 games out of your club than you recieved?

CARSON: I felt that if we did not win them that we would have hung close. In both games, we were down by double digits early which is not the start that we want to come out with, especially vs. the tenth ranked team in the nation.

WENDEL: What were your plans against Odla coming into the game, and what led to this plans failure throughout?

CARSON: To admit it, our eyes were more on Villanoava, who ended up with 13, but Odla seemed to sneak past us. I think he hit 6 straight shots at one point and was 100% for free throws. It was a surprise that will never catch up to us again.

WENDEL: Kason Bryan has come out to a fast start this season, how will you go about giving him more shots?

CARSON: I'm not quite sure Sandy...

WENDEL: Stacy...

CARSON: Yeah, I'm not to sure on how i will give him more shots, but i will tell you that he will get plenty more. Only taking 11 this game hurt us in a sense to where next game i plan on having him shoot the ball 15-20 times.

WENDEL: Thank you for your time.

CARSON: No problem, Sandy.

HORNETS OVERCOME 14 POINT DEFICIT TO GET FIRST WIN AT THE BUZZER

Kason Bryan had a huge night as he lifted Alabama St. (1-2) over Auburn (1-2) 64-63. He led all players with 25 points shooting a delirious 6-9 from marry land. The Hornets found themselves down by 14 early in the second half when they got hot to cut the lead down to 6. As they saw there hopes slip away, they hit 5 straight threes in a timespan of 2:00 to cut the lead to 63-61. With seven seconds left, and the Tigers in the bonus, Newton Grant missed his fourth free throw as the Hornets Nuualitia recovered the rebound to quickly call a time out. with 4.8 seconds left, Bryan got the inbound and dribbled accross the arch to the left side and threw up a prayer. As all of the 3,087 fans eyes witnessed God's answer, the Auburn bench fell to there knees.

DRAKE PULLS OUT OT VICTORY AND REMAINS UNBEATEN

-from Des Moines, Iowa
As the players wiped their brow after a long physical game, one squad felt revived as one felt distinguished. Alabama St. witnessed a 9 point lead with 2:40 left in the game slip away as Drake avoids the upset 80-70. ASU (1-3) led from 17:00 in the first half to :30 in the second as Kason Bryan continued his stellar year. He added yet another 20+ point performance, only this one did not come as easy. He shot a flat 2-9 from beyond the arch but 6-9 from within including 4-5 from the charity stripe. B. Jack of Drake (4-0) had a career night scoring an all around high 26 as his fellow guard Isham contributed 23. In overtime, the Bulldogs started on a 11-2 run and never looked back, winning what could be called an eye opener for both teams in a true fashion. Drake realized its weaknesses as Alabama St. realized how well it can compete. Hornet power forward D. Zamone had his best night so far with 22 points (8-9) and 12 rebounds snatching the first Hornet double-double of the year.

The Ambler Gazette
-Nate Oxman, Associate sports editor
OXMAN: Hey Coach!
CARSON: How's it going Nate?
OXMAN: It's going great. As a die hard Hornet fan, i am quite impressed with your start. That last win was something special. A real team effort.
CARSON: Thanks, i appreciate it. We have been practicing some plays recently that have a variety of opportunities available and we put that to good use this past week.
OXMAN: Would you like to share some of those plays.
CARSON: Usually, i will start out with a quick post up trying to get the ball inside to Zamone or Big Nuu(alitia). If we can't find anything there, or if we don't use that as a first option, i like to run the PG LOOP. The variety's this play brings is immense. What the play is designed to do is for our PG (Hite) to pass it to our SG (Bryan), him to run across the arch and give it to our SF (Francois), then our PG to loop around, come off of a PF (Nuualitia) screen for an easy 5-10 foot shot. This also gives him the option to dish it to one of our big men. The other options this gives is for the SF to pull up and shoot the three or for him to give it back to Bryan for an easy three. Bryan is usually open in this scenario, which we found twice vs. Duquenes.
OXMAN: I also so Francois get about 2 as well from his position in this play. Now, Drake, this one got away. A heart breaker vs. a team ranked in the Mid Major Top 25 (22). How did you feel afterwards?
CARSON: At first i was upset. I didn't get on my players about the loss but i encouraged them about the close finish. When you contend that well they deserve some credit. But, that nigh i laid awake going through thousands of possible scenarios that we blew. When i woke up, for some reason, i wasn't mad anymore. I had realized what we had done and for me not to ruin the little momentum that gave us and bring it into the Duquenes game.
OXMAN: Well, terrific job on that. Thank you for your time and GO HORNETS!
CARSON: Haha, my pleasure.

Eric Moreno had 24 points off the bench as Alabama St. (3-3) beet Troy (3-3) 78-66. Moreno started out hot hitting four of his first five and wound up shotting 5 of 9 from beyond the arch. Kason Bryan had a slow game with only 11. Troy guard F. Davis finished with a team high 18 but struggled to controle the ball giving up 6 turnovers. This is the Hornets second straight win giving them the momentum they need heading into Southern Mississippi (3-0, Conference USA - 0-0).

HORNETS GET THIRD WIN IN A ROW OVER PREVIOUSLY UNDEFEATED GOLDEN EAGLES

Darrel Zamore had another big game with a high 12 points as Alabama State (4-3) beat the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi (3-1) 44-38. The low scoring affair was due in part to an incredible defensive game by both sides. The Hornet offense was a little slow, recently changing its phylosophe by using the Princeton High Post offense instead. On the defensive side, they used a 3-2 as opposed to their previous 2-3. This worked, holding So. Miss high powered guards to two three-point field goals all game.

REPORTER: Coach, you've just won 3 in a row and build your season record to one game over .500. Did you expect this well of a start?
CARSON: Yes, I did. Growing up as a fan of Hornet basketball, these past few years i've noticed the potential our young guys have. Now that they are all juniors and seniors (with the exception of Francois -freshmen-) I get to take all that potential and make it into reality. Its been a blast.
REPORTER: What are you reasons for changing your offense?
CARSON: Our previous game at Troy, we realized how explosive Zamore can be so we wanted to find an offense to showcase that. The Princeton High-Post offense does exactly that.
REPORTER: But earlier in the year, you said that you wanted to showcase Bryan's abilities?
CARSON: Yes, and we are still able to do that. He's just had a few rough games, thats all.

-POST GAME PRESS CONFERENCE WITH COACH CARSON
CARSON: I would first like to apologize for my actions this past week. It was very unprofessional and immature. That was a one time deal and should never take place in my future with Alabama St.
Now, as far as the game went. I felt that we just flat out lost. We lost not only on the scoreboard, but in every category. Their full court press really hurt us, and when we tried to press them they killed us with the fast break. Von Hite has not preformed to our expectations and expect a change to be made.

-PRESS RELEASE
--Montgomery, Alabama
Sources have reported that Hornets PG Von Hite has lost his starting position to Ellis Moreno. Moreno will play SG and Kason Bryan will run the offense.

People get mad when I post on other people's boards and then not theirs. Then I do and follow people and now they call me a thread w*****. Well fine I doesn't bother me to not follow somoenes thread. Makes my life a little more easier. Only reason why Deuce said that is cause he is mad that I told everyone he loves East Coast teams while he protaits how he is a West Coast coach on here.

Don't worry I got the message loud and clear.

Please try again later. If you are trying to reach CincyFan he has been busy lately and will try to follow everyone's legacies at least once, maybe twice a day except for hoosier1592 and Deuce2223 legacies. For those two people who spoke loud and clear that I shouldn't be following theirs he has respectively accepted their wishes and won't follow theirs. For anyone else calling about their legacy he will continue to follow yours despite him not posting as much as he used to. Thank you and if you feel you reached the wrong recording you can call....

We now go live to the Oscars.. Up for nomination in the role of Drama Queen and we have a winner. Michael Ryan in his role as CincyFan on the 2k8 College Hoops Forum.

After accepting his trophey we got a chance to sit down with Mike and ask him some important questions.

Reporter-Mike you were amazing. I think you had everyone convinced that you didn't like Hoosier comment about you being a Thread *****. Is there a chance we will see more of these Performances?

Mike-Speaking through his interpreter-Mr. Ryan 1st says Thank you and Yes.

Reporter- Okay so when do you think we will see more of these??

Interpeter-Again Mr Ryan is very busy planning his move out West were he will be able to enjoy watching amazing college hoops live and not have to resort to watching the weak water down version he has had to live with well living out east, so at this time all he has to say is later.

Reporter-Well okay then. It was great talkig to you and again great up in your role as Drama Queen. I am looking forward to what you do next. :p

Hoosier1592 sorry for opening this thread but I guess we have to clarify things for you since you are new. I know you were joking around when you said it with the whole Deuce223 comment. My comment was just to make fun of them. Think of me as the big brother on these boards.

I always follow people's legacies even if I don't post it that much. Duece2223, vols21, chestnutz6, wsu_zags, jjredick4 (new name now which I still don't understand) we go back a few years. Well maybe not Deuce2223 since he is the new kid on the block this year, but we all just have a good time and like to poke fun of each other as much as we can. We don't mean any of the stuff we say on our threads or others. No one is flaming people. This is one of the boards on this site that people really don't do that too.

Trust me if people though half of this stuff I said on this site I meant there wouldn't be like 13K views for my thread. People on this know we joke around and like to have a good time. We are all friends and everything. For how much chestnutz6 and I act like we hate each other on this site we are actually friends.

I am a actor so I like to have a good time and joke around A LOT. I know there are a lot of new people on here, but yes to help you out the only time people don't like you or don't view your board is if you post about 10 threads of the same thing, or you start a legacy and then stop in the middle of it. People will always follow as long as you go with it.

I am like the old man on this site and I am 26. Then again I act like I am 3 so I think everyone on here is older than me in maturity.

Back to your legacy I was quite sad actually to see your last game how you had two people with double-doubles. I think it took two years for me to get my first double-double, and 3 or 4 years before I had a game with two players with double-double. I must not be doing something right when I play lol. Nice bounce back though.

Arkansas Pine Bluff (5-6, SWAC 1-1) @ (7-5, SWAC 2-1) Alabama State Hornets

HORNETS PULL OUT EASY VICTORY, PLAYED FROM BEYOND THE ARCH

Tonight is a night not soon to forget. Three's were falling like JJ Redick was an angel already. The Hornets (8-5, SWAC 3-1) hit 10-15, making their first 8 in a row propelling them to a 57-48 victory over Arkansas Pine Bluff (5-7, SWAC 1-2). Stevie Francois hit his first five leading all players with 21. Kason Bryan returned to his old self hitting 4-5 three's finishing with 14. Zamore continued his hot streak with 11. Winston ousted all his teammates with 19 but was unable to spruce enough magic for a comeback. APB however did squeeze a late scare when they were down by 18 with 4:00 left. The Hornets only scored 4 points in this period, including a Francois three but it was too late for the miracle to take place.

my team has 2 solid three point shooters in bryan (PG) and francois(SF). zamore (C) is amazing down on the low post. only being rated as a 57 i'm suprised at how well he does. he's ranked first in the nation for FG% and has had about 3 double-double's this season. nuualitia (PF) on some games is a rebound maniac. Suprisingly for how big he is, he is my best free throw shooter. Hite (PG, bench) brings in a good deep threat and is an assist machine. Moreno (SG) i plan on red shirting next year because Bryan will just steal the show from him. they are both JR's now so i would like one to stay with Francois, my only decent freshman.

now for my conference predictions.
all of them seem to be in tact EXCEPT for Jackson St. I predicted them to be a flub and they are in 1st place. I totally underestemated their defense which has a stellar 3/4 court press, used after basket.

Nuualitia had another double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Reid Emerson of the Bulldogs had a game high 28 points. Stevie Francois also had a phenomenal game with 17 points.

Alabama State Hornets (9-5, SWAC 4-1) @ (4-12, SWAC 4-2) Alcorn State Braves

BRAVES WIN BEHIND STELLAR PERFORMANCE FROM COHEN
Brannon Cohen led his team to a 60-56 victory over the Alabama St. Hornets (9-6, SWAC 4-2). Cohen had a team high 20 points and Summers had 18 to propel an offensive night from the Braves (5-12, SWAC 5-2). Even though Zamore had a game high 22, the Hornets could not find their swagger in the second half, shooting 22/50 from the field. Nuualitia also had a decent nigh for Alabama St. with 11. Free throws, although not coming often, were a struggle again for the Hornets. They made 3 of 8 where, on the other hand, the Braves made 12 of 16.

BOX SCORE
ALST 24 32 0 - 56

-Even though Zamore and Nuualitia had great games, the rest of the Hornets did poor. Moreno shot 2-11 scoring 7 and Bryan had 2 points.
