View Full Version : The Life and Times of Johnny Flynn

Ok, as March Madness approaches, I've had the urge to pick this game back up. However, I didn't just want to do another team legacy, but instead, a player lock. I've never done one of these, but for those who don't know, here's what I'll be doing.
Player Lock: ON
Camera: Player lock
Halves: 12 minutes
Difficulty: MOP
Player: Johnny Flynn, Fr PG, Syracuse
Flynn is one of my favorite players, and I'm going to try and take him to his junior year (at least, I think that's when he'll declare for the NBA).
It will be written in the perspective of a journalist who is following Flynn's career.
Suggestions welcome.

So, just who is this kid?
David Meeks, suhoops.com
Johnny Flynn. The point guard out of Niagra Falls, NY has been given less attention than his co-frosh, PF Donte' Greene. Still, Flynn has an enourmous amount of talent, and will probably stay for at least 3 years at Syracuse.
Flynn was ranked the #4 PG by rivals.com, and #22 overall for his class. He scores, when needed. But what makes him such a great runner of the offense is his ability to create for his teammates and unselfishness. He's an above average shooter, and can finish even with contact. His on-ball defense is exceptional, as he'll probably average a couple steals per game.
What made him choose Syracuse over Buffalo and Canisius? Perhaps it's his new teammate, who isn't really that new. Sophmore SF Paul Harris was his teammate at Niagra Falls, and the two helped their school win the state championship two years ago. If they can do that, imagine what they can do on the college level.
Expect about 10 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals a game for Johnny this year, and hopefully he can lead this very young Syracuse team to an NCAA birth.
-----
Forgot to mention, the only thing I will be doing legacy-wise is training Flynn. I won't train any other players, won't do any recruiting and the likes.

Orange come alive in second half
Flynn drops 34 in debut
Jonny's first basket of his college career was a great and 1 shot from the free throw line. Unfortunately, they were down at the time. Siena took a 9-2 lead early on, but Jonny's basket led the Orange to a 12-0 run, where they never looked back, taking a 38-27 lead at the break. Flynn, despite being stuffed by the rim on a dunk (he made it up later with a sweet 1 hander), had 14 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals in the first half.
The second half is when Syracuse looked like the #18 team in the country. Their defense stepped it up tonight, holding the Saints to 51 points.
Flynn earned player of the game honors easily, with a near double double. "I'm happy I did well, but if our first half showed you anything, it's that we have a lot of work to do," the freshman commented.
Other notable Syracuse players were Donte' Greene, who also nearly had a double double, with 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Arinze Onuaku, with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. SU's defense had 5 blocks and forced 12 turnovers, while only giving it up 3 times (2 were Jonny's).
The player Flynn was guarding, Ronald Moore, had 2 points, 6 assists, and 5 turnovers.
Flynn's Stats: 34 points, 1 rebound, 9 assists, 5 steals, 1 turnover, 20 minutes (out of 24)
11/21 FG, 4/6 3pt, 8/13 FT
(What's funny about his performance is this is exactly what Flynn did in real life in his debut against Siena. He had the most points a Syracuse player has ever had in his debut with like 27, topping C-Melo)
Syracuse will now play (1-0) Saint Joes in the second round tomorrow, after they edged out F. Dickinson.

Syracuse advances
Flynn's second straight POTG leads defensive dominance
The fans were treated to an excellent ball game in the first half, as neither team took command. Following Eric Devendorf's buzzer beater from the top of the key, Syracuse narrowly held a 30-28 lead. Rebounds were absolutely killing the Orange, as the Hawks had more offensive rebounds (8) than 'Cuse did total (6). Jonny, however, led all scorers with 13 points.
The second half Syracuse still couldn't get anything going on offense. Coach Boeheim switched to man defense as his 2-3 was getting picked apart, and with the score tied at 34, Jonny Flynn took over. He sparked an Orange run with an NBA range three, then assisted a Donte' Greene three. On the other end, he picked the pocket of the St. Joes guard, had a wide open dunk, but instead threw up an alley, to which Greene ooped.
Saint Joes tried to come back, but to no avail, as Syracuse ended up winning, 62-46, in a defensive battle. The Orange did better in the second half, as they ended up losing the rebounding battle by 1, 22-23.
Flynn earned POTG honors again, while no other 'Cuse player finished in double digits. Rick Jackson (bench PF), Devendorf, and Greene all had 9. PG Govens for the Hawks, guarded by Flynn, had 5 points, 6 assists, and 5 turnovers.
Flynn's Stats (POTG): 22 pts, 7 ast, 3 stl, 3 TO, 19 min
7/12 FG, 1/4 3pt, 7/7 FT
Flynn's Comment: "I've just been attacking the rim relentlessly," he said of already going to the line 20 times this season. "Our defense has been playing sick, and I hope we can keep it up."

Team Effort Lifts Orange
Syracuse dominates from start to finish
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Syracuse came out on fire, draining shots from outside and inside, as Fordham just didn't stand a chance tonight. Flynn and Devendorf's 10 first half points each helped the Orange to a convincing 47-32 halftime lead.
The reserves got some quality minutes in the second half, and showed that although this team is young, they have some fight in them. Flynn was quite alright with not playing as much in the second half, as Syracuse won 85-70.
Eric Devendorf stole the crown from Flynn for POTG honors, finishing with 17 points and 6 assists. Donte' Greene had 11 and 8 boards, and for the Rams PF Dunston had 19 and 10, as they turned it over a whopping 23 times.
Flynn's Stats: 14 pts, 6 ast, 4 stl, 2 TO, 17 min
6/9 FG, 1/2 3pt, 1/2 FT
Flynn's Comment: This was a quality win over a tough A-10 team, and I think now we're ready to go against a very good team in Washington.

'Cuse survives without Flynn
2OT thriller sees Greene take over, scores 35
Dave Meeks, SUhoops.com
Just like the Saint Joes game, this was a defensive battle in the first half. Both teams seemed to be testing each other out, not being too aggressive, as there was only 4 combined fouls. Flynn had his worst half of the year, scoring only 4 points with 4 assists, also being subbed out late with 2 fouls. Washington managed to turn it on late, taking a 31-28 lead.
Jonny picked up his 3rd foul within :30 of the second half, but played through it. His day countinued to get worse with 8 minutes left, as he picked up his 4th foul. Immediately following that, things got even worse for Syracuse when Paul Harris pulled his quad (out for 10 days). Luckily, Donte' Greene caught fire, and Flynn went back in the game with 4 minutes left, Syracuse leading 51-47.
Greene continued to pour it on, from key blocks to draining contested threes, he was the sole reason Syracuse held onto their lead. But for every three Greene hit, Husky sharpshooter Ryan Appleby had an answer. Following Flynn's 4th turnover, Washington cut the deficit to 1 with under a minute to play. Flynn missed a wide open three, but Rick Jackson got a key rebound, and Washington was forced to foul.
Flynn made both free throws, but Quincy Pondexter hit a three immediately for his 19th points, tying the g ame at 62. Flynn missed his three, and this was going to OT.
Within 30 seconds, Flynn picked up his 5th foul and had to watch his team from the sidelines. Syracuse fought back after Washington held the lead for most of the overtime, but couldn't take the lead, as this game was headed to double OT tied at 72.
The teams continued to throw punches, but neither would go down. Arinze Onuaku, 'Cuse down by 1, had two straight key offensive rebounds, the latter being a tip in to take the lead. On the other end, Donte' Greene had a huge block, and Onuaku had a block AND steal to seal the game for Syracuse, 91-88.
Despite being without their leading scorer for half the game (17 of 34 minutes), Donte Greene's player of the game performance lifted the Orange. He finished with 35 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 blocks in 32 minutes. Arinze Onuaku had 14 and 18 with 2 blocks himself, and Devendorf had 14 and 5 assists. For Washington, Pondexter had 24.
Flynn's Stats: 10 pts, 3 reb, 9 ast, 2 stl, 4 TO, 17 min (fouled out)
3/11 FG, 1/5 3pt, 3/4 FT
Flynn's Comment: "I sucked. You know what? I flat out sucked. Yeah, I almost had a double-double, but that don't mean ****. You know what? We won. That's all that matters."
Syracuse will now play #16 Texas A&M in the finals, after the Aggies flat out dominated the Buckeyes, 61-39. Flynn will be tasked with guarding veteran PG Dominique Kirk, 81 overall.

WHEW! Thanks for the compliments viking, not really sure how I'm doing so far since I've never done a player lock. Honestly, it's great fun. If any of you have never played with player lock, you should. You feel so much more into the game, like you're an actual player with no control. When I fouled out, I had to watch those two overtimes and was very ahppy that Greene was dominating. Sorry for it being so long, but hard not to when it's 2OT.

I was going to ask you a question about that. If the guy you have a player lock on fouls out is out for rest, do you take over who came in for him, or you just watch. Your doing a fine job so far!! Something to think about myself in the future.

Thanks for following guys. Here's the dealio:
-I have recruiting set on ASSISTED. I'm not sure how this will turn out, so if people haven't recruited before, let me know how it went and if I should just do recruiting myself.
-When I foul out/get subbed, it makes me a player lock of someone else (Donte Greene, for example.) When I get subbed, I go to "Switch Sides" in options, and let the CPU play until Flynn is subbed back in.
Thanks again viking, I love you (I'm not *** as in ****, but the bad at sports way)

Recruting tip. For me what I did when I simmed my years at Texas Southern. I would recruit up to In-Season. By then you will have probably narrowed down who you want and used up your visists and what not. Then just let the computer(assistants) make the phone calls and emails. I land some very nice 4* and 5* using this method.

Well it's not like I have any control over how long Flynn stays. But I just want to make it authetnic as possible.
BTW, I checked the recruits to see what players the CPU has contacted, and it's looking pretty good for me next year. The #6 overall , #2 SG is at 86%, and the #7 PG (with an A shot) is at 94%. Question is, do I want another PG taking all my minutes? Maybe I should offer ascholarship to a big man the CPU has been contacting....

Offensive woes doom 'Cuse
A&M holds off Orange in second half
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Syracuse took control of the game from the get-go, led by none other than Jonny Flynn, who wanted to redeem his horrible game yesterday. The freshman had 9 points in the first four minutes, and finished with 19 in the first half on 3/3 shooting from downtown. Just as important, he didn't have a foul. He led them to a 35-25 halftime lead over the Aggies.
Unfortunatey for Flynn, nobody else was doing anything. Missed layups and open threes, the Aggies took a 44-39 lead with 4:00 left to play (yes, 4 points for Syracuse in the first 9 minutes).
2 minutes later, the Orange finally started to score. A couple threes later, and they held a narrow 50-49 lead. From then, neither team could hold a lead, going back and forth. The Aggies took a 4 point lead with :40 left, but Donte Greene took a pass from Flynn and drained a three, as the Orange now had t ofoul. Unfortunately, the Orange had 0 fouls in the half.
Syracuse had :15 to score, down 3. Flynn takes a three...blocked. Final score, 58-55.
In only 17 minutes Jonny was the leading scorer with 21 points, also adding 5 assists. Eric Devendorf was the onnly other player in double digits, with 10. SF Carter for A&M had 21 as well. The Orange shot 36% from the field, and 6/10 from the FT line. 4 more free throws, and 'Cuse wins.
Flynn's Stats: 21 pts, 2 reb, 5 ast, 2 stl, 1 TO, 17 min

David Meeks, SUhoops.com
"We were determined not to let that A&M game get to us," said Coach Boeheim after a dominant win over a tough A-10 team. "The Atlantic 10 has played us tough all year, and tonight was no different."
Practicing offense for several days should be fun, right? "Wrong," said Jonny Flynn. "I've never disliked offense so much after what we did in practice these past few days." It worked, as the Orange were on fire, forcing turnovers and getting many fast break points en route to a 43-32 halftime lead, where Flynn had 10 points.
After the Orange built an insurmountable lead, in came the subs, and 'Cuse continued to dominate. They outrebounded the Minutemen 44-30, and forced 24 turnovers. Paul Harris earned his first player of the game, with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Arinze Onuaku was an absolute beast with 19 boards. Donte Greene added 17 points and 6 rebounds.
Flynn's Stats: 14 pts, 7 ast, 5 stl, 2 TO, 20 min
3/7 FG, 1/4 3pt, 7/13 FT

Orange offense explodes
'Cuse takes care of business; overcomes 13 point deficit
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
The first half was nothing but scary. Tulane came out attacking the rim as much as possible, and got to the line 20 times in the first half. Syracuse was just missing shots left and right after a convincing win over UMass, and now found themselves down 42-29 at halftime. The main reason? Jonny Flynn had 3 fouls early on and didn't play much at all.
Jonny Flynn took it in his hands to turn things around. He came out and scored 17 second half points, for a total of 19 on the game. He sparked Eric Devendorf into having one of his best all around games of his career, going 4 rebounds away from a triple-double. Paul Harris and Donte' Greene suddenly got in the action on the defensive end, and were rewarded on offense. The Orange dominated the second half with 64 points, getting the 'W' 93-82.
Devendorf earned POTG honors with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. Harris and Greene both had 15, and for Tulane PF Gomez had 21 points. The Wave PG, Kevin Sims, had 6 points, 9 assists, and 3 turnovers.
Flynn's Stats: 19 pts, 3 ast, 1 stl, 3 TO, 4 fouls, 14 min
8/10 FG, 1/2 3pt, 2/2 FT
Flynn's Comment: I've gotta learn to stop fouling so much, because we almost blew this game early because of me.

PG Sean Singletary: Sr, 92 ovr, 85 3pt
Singletary is no doubt one of, if not the, best point guards in the nation. This will be Flynn's toughest matchup of the year, and depending on how he does, Syracuse could be upset here. Sean is a bit nicked up, but that shouldn't prevent him from playing.
12/8: vs. (8-1) Rhode Island
SG Parfait Bitee: Sr, 73 ovr
SG Jimmy Baron: Jr, 76 ovr, 92 3pt
Rhode Island is a VERY good ball club, and Flynn may end up guarding Baron, one of the best longball shooters in the nation. This is easily one of the toughest weeks Flynn will have.
Syracuse is now ranked #13.
Flynn's averages: 19.1 ppg, 6.6 apg, 3.1 spg, 66% FT, 41% 3pt
PRESS CONFERENCE WITH JONNY FLYNN
Reporter: Jonny, today Howie Crenshaw accepted a scholarship offer from Syracuse. He's the #7 PG in this year's class and was Virginia's Mr. BB. Do you think this will affect you at all next year?
Flynn: I try not to think about the future, but I'm not worried about playing time at all. As of now, we only have three guards on our roster (me, Devendorf, Scoop Jardine), so we need some more bodies in there. I can't wait to play with this kid and heard he has a sweet shot.
Reporter: The other two players Syracuse was targetting, 4* PF Brian Torbert and 5* SG Ralphy Evenstar, seemed very interested in Syracuse. Yet they decided to go to Georgetown and Pittsburgh, respectively.
Flynn: Your question?
Reporter: Well, will there be any bad blood between you next year?
Flynn: Again, I'm not gonna think about that too much. I love rivalry competition, and right now, I'm thinking about the present. Right now I've gotta prepare for a big game against Virginia, so thank you.

Flynn dominates Singletary
11 turnovers can't stop freshman from beating veteran
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Syracuse's first true road game matched a current elite point guard against a future elite. Who would come out on top, Sean Singletary or Jonny Flynn?
Flynn, although scoring 8 points, had 4 turnovers in the first half, which is much too high for him. Despite this, Syracuse jumped out to a 17 point lead early on. Virginia came back to narrow the deficit to 8 at halftime, 38-30, but Singletary could do nothing against Flynn's defense, with only 2 points (off free throws).
The Orange exploded out of the gates, taking an early 20+ point lead, leading to boos galore from the home crowd, and the subs got in early. Though Syracuse couldn't get anything going offensively in the later part of the half, it didn't matter, as they came away with the easy victory.
Flynn won the battle of PGs, even though he had a horrible night with turnovers. Singletary declined to talk afterwards, as he was stifled all night by Jonny. Flynn earned POTG honors with his performance, holding Singletary to 2 points, 2 assists, and 0/8 FG shooting (0/3 from three).
Flynn had 11 turnovers in the game, an atrocious performance, but also had 6 steals and 5 assists, also a season high 4 rebounds. Arinze Onuaku's 5 blocks helped Syracuse hold Virginia to 42 points, and 12 points in the second half (WOW).
Flynn's Stats: 22 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast, 6 stl, 11 TO, 3 fouls, 20 min
8/19 FG, 3/9 3pt, 3/7 FT
Flynn's Comment: I just wanted to show the nation that not only can I score, I can D up. I have all the respect in the world for Sean, and even though I had some dumb turnovers, tonight was our night.

Career Night
Flynn does it himself, swishes game winning three
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Many thought Rhode Island would have a chance at upsetting the #13 ranked Orange, as their exceptional shooters could outscore Syracuse's poor offense. The Orange wanted nothing more than to keep this game as low scoring as possible.
Both teams came out even, and Rhode Island jumped out to a small lead for most of the half. That would chance with 2 minutes left, as Jonny Flynn attacked the rim following a steal on defense, and drew a foul to put the Orange up 2. Immediately after, he stole the in bounds pass and layed it in, putting 'Cuse up 27-23, forcing the Rams to call time. Flynn continued to make great shots, and his 17 points and 3 steals led Syracuse to a 33-30 halftime lead.
The freshman point guard would have to take control in the second half, as both teams battled back and forth. Nobody on Syracuse, besides Flynn, wanted to make a shot, whether it was Devendorf missing a wide open three or Harris being blocked on an easy lay up, Flynn had to do it himself.
Daniels for Rhode Island continued to shoot lights out though, with 27 points, putting the Rams up 4 on a three with under 2 minutes to go. Flynn again would answer the call, as he had to do it himself the entire half (nobody was making a shot), and with a minute to go, he stole the ball from Parfait Bitee, and went the length of the court, laying it up over two Rams, 63-61. Flynn would get a chance to tie the game or take the lead, as Rhode Island missed a shot with :16 to play.
Jonny's outside shot wasn't falling that much tonight, as he was 2/5 up to that point. Flynn drove with :08 left, couldn't find anything against the 2-3, and passed it opposite wing to Devendorf, who immediately passed it to the elbow to Onuaku. With :05 left, Onuaku passed it to the top of the key to Flynn, who was spotting up for three. He had only a little bit of room, but shot it over the oncoming Jimmy Baron, and hit nothing but net with 3 seconds left. Rhode Island's last shot would barely rim out, and Flynn was the hero.
An exhausted Flynn walked off the court as all 25,000 fans were on their feet. Jonny's performance easily won player of the game, as he finished with half of the Orange points in 22 minutes, the most he's played all year. Bitee finished with 8 points and 10 assists, Baron with 10 points, and Daniels had 27. Donte Greene added 12 and Onuaku had 10 rebounds.
Thanks in large part to Flynn, the Orange shot a fantastic 15/17 from the FT line.
Flynn's Stats: 32 pts, 1 ast, 4 stl, 2 TO, 3 fouls, 22 min
10/23 FG, 3/6 3pt, 9/11 FT
Flynn's Comment: This is why I play basketball every day, for nights like these. I just wanted to win, and even though I was getting hacked all night, I was getting to the free throw line, and converted. It was a great win for us, going into a matchup with the #2 team.

Oh man, no doubt one of the best games I've had with a single player ever. I just kept attacking the rim with Flynn, and I mean this when I say nobody else wanted to score. That's the reason I only had 1 assist, I could have easily had 7 or 8. Devendorf had 2 points and shot 0/3 from three and 1/6 from the field.

Week 8
12/10 - 12/16
T&C: Inside scoring, Defense, Durability
Confidence: 94
Flynn's Matchups:
12/15: vs #1 North Carolina (7-1)
PG Ty Lawson: So, 89 ovr
Oh boy, if Flynn thought Singletary and Baron were tough, wait til he gets a load of the #1 team in the nation. Lawson will work him all night, and both these players are fast as hell, so it will be one of the most exciting matchups in the nation all year. Lawson is averaging 10 points and 6 assists.
Syracuse will have to give all they've got for this game, and they have a week to prepare. They match up fairly well, but there's no doubt UNC deserves to be the #1 team. The matchups will look like this.
Ty Lawson (89) vs. Jonny Flynn (79)
Wayne Ellington (84) vs. Paul Harris (83)
Marcus Ginyard (79) vs. Eric Devendorf (84)
Tyler Hansbrough (90) vs. Arinze Onuaku (73)
Deon Thompson (72) vs. Donte Greene (82)
As you can see, some abnormal matchups there. Paul Harris (SF) is the better defender and will guard the sharpshooting Ellington, while Devendorf will guard the lesser Ginyard. Onuaku (C) is a much bigger, more physical player than Greene, and instead of guarding Thompson will guard 6'9'', 245 lb Hansbrough.
Syracuse jumps to #11 in the polls. Other BE teams include GTown (6), Louisville (10), Pitt (12), Marquette (17), and Notre Dame (23).
Flynn is 17th in the nation in PPG (20.9), and first in steals (3.6). He also averages 5.8 assists.
Syracuse team stats
They're 8-1 this season, and 0-1 against the top 25. They have the #1 RPI, and are #7 in the coaches poll. They're offensive efficiency is #3 in the conference and #7 in the nation, given an A+ grade, as their average score margin is +10.9 (73.6 ppg). Surprisingly their defense is given a C+, despite holding teams to 62.7 ppg and forcing 13 TO.
They're second in the BE in SPG, with 9.6, second to Villanova's 9.7. They're #1 in blocks with 4.8, and turn it over only 9.7 a game, #1 in the conference.

UNC puts Orange on their heels
Danny Green & Co. too fast for 'Cuse, pull away in second half
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Many thought this game would be one of the games of the year, with the key matchup being at the PG spot, between two future stars, Ty Lawson, and Jonny Flynn. Flynn would win the statistical battle, but Lawson the game.
In the first half, both teams proved their ranking, as it was even steven the entire half, with North Carolina holding a slight edge at halftime, as their press started to rattle Syracuse and their up-tempo play was too much for the thin bench of the Orange, as they held a 38-35 lead at the break. Flynn, however, continued his dominant performance last week, scoring 19 in the half.
What was equal in the first half turned to lopsided in the second. The Tar Heels dominated the second half, as they ran up and down the court on Syracuse, and the Orange failed to respond on offense. Everything fell apart for 'Cuse, as they found themselves down 67-44 6 minutes into the second half. Danny Green exploded for UNC, nailing every three he took. The Heels ended up demorilizing #11 'Cuse, as they only scored 18 points in the second half.
Flynn couldn't get much going in the second half either, and had a whopping 8 turnovers because of the press. Green ended up with player of the game with 24 points, and Ty Lawson had 11 points with 8 assists. Arinze Onuaku had 8 points and 7 rebounds, as Syracuse had 15 turnovers, to UNC's 7.
Flynn's Stats: 25 pts, 6 ast, 3 stl, 8 TO, 1 foul, 20 min
9/20 FG, 2/6 3pt, 5/7 FT
Flynn's Comment: I had a pretty good game stat wise, but that's not what I was hoping for. We needed this game this point in the season. We came in thinking we were hot and underrated, but this loss shows us that we have a lot of work to do in order to become an elite team.

Yeah, I've been shooting with him a lot lately. Most of them have been drives to the lane. Nobody is moving on offense really, and it's dumb because every time I pass it to somebody, they give it right back to me because I'm the PG, one of the flaws of player lock. Devendorf has been doing horrible this year, I looked at his stats and he's shooting 24% from three, which is horrible for a guy who has the highest 3pt attribute on the team. Also noticed I've attempted 70 free throws with Flynn so far this year (made only 47 :() which is good for #2 in the big east (Kentrell Gransberry of USF has 84)

Flynn played very well, as did the rest of the starters for once. Syracuse dominated from the get-go, taking a 48-37 halftime lead and finishing it off, 84-63. Devendorf had 14 points and 7 assists, Paul Harris had 15 and 7 rebounds, and Onuaku had a double-double with 11 points and rebounds. Flynn finished with 11 points, 8 assists, 3 steals, and 3 TO.

(3-4) Cornell Big Red @ (9-2) #18 Syracuse
Greene exploded in this game with 27 points, making 12 free throws. Syracuse took a 45-32 lead at half, and finished strong 86-73. Flynn played very well with 20 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. PG Louis Dale for Cornell had 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Flynn has career high 17 assists in comeback win
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
The first half didn't go too well for the Orange, as they found themselves down at half, 31-27. Flynn had a measly 3 points on 1/7 shooting, but 5 assists. UAB's perimeter shooters were killing any defense Syracuse threw at them, as Vaden had 7 points and SF Kinnard had 11. It didn't help that Donte Greene pulled his quad early in the game (out 13 days) and couldn't play much.
Coach Boeheim must have said something at halftime, because the Orange came out on fire. Jonny Flynn had 5 assists in the first 5 minutes of the second half, which gave him 10 for the game, his career high. The occasional Syracuse press rattled the Blazers, as the crowd exploded and forced UAB to call a time out, Syracuse holding a 9 point lead.
The Orange continued to dominate for the remainder of the half, until the Blazers finally started to crawl back, cutting the lead to 6 with 2 minutes remaining. Luckily the 'Cuse defense stepped up and prevented UAB from doing anything else, pulling away 77-66.
Eric Devendorf finally caught fire tonight, finishing with 26 points on 6/11 3pt shooting, also contributing with 5 assists. But he didn't get player of the game, as that went to Jonny Flynn, who although struggled to score at times, had a career high 17 asssists and 15 points, playing the entire second half for the first time this year. Paul Harris and Donte' Greene both had 10 points.
Flynn's Stats: 15 pts, 2 reb, 17 ast, 2 stl, 6 TO, 1 foul, 25 min

St. John's gives 'Cuse a scare, but starters dominate late
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
As Syracuse entered Big East play with only 2 losses, they were feeling good about themselves. They felt even better after the first half, as Jonny Flynn's 11 points and Paul Harris' 9 rebounds led the Orange to a 47-38 advantage at halftime.
St. John's came out with a vengeance in the second half, though, as Eugene Lawrence was carving through the 2-3 defense like a knife on butter, and the Storm tied the game with 5 minutes remaining. Arinze Onuaku would have none of that, as he dominated the small St. John's lineup late, earning his first POTG and led Syracuse back to the 6 point victory.
Onuaku had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Paul Harris had 10 points and 12 boards. Devendorf and Greene finished with 12 and 10 points, and Lawrence had 13 for St. John's.

Second half dominance leads Orange

David Meeks, SUhoops.com
The first half went like most Syracuse first halves, as the Bulls stood their ground against the Orange, holding a narrow 32-31 lead at halftime. Jonny Flynn led all scorers with 12 points and 5 assists, but USF was getting everyone involved on offense, and Syracuse couldn't focus on any one player.
The second half also went like most Syracuse second halves. They came right off the bat and dominated the second half, holding the Bulls to 15 points before they scored 5 more in the final minute. 'Cuse shot 59% from the field, and surprisingly, with BE star Kentrell Gransberry in the middle for USF, outrebounded the Bulls 24-19.
Flynn won player of the game again, with his second double-double, 19 points and 10 assists. Donte Greene was the receiver of many of those passes, with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Paul Harris had 12 and 5, and Devendorf had 11 points. PG Solomon Bozeman led South Florida with 14 points and 6 assists.
Flynn's Stats: 19 pts, 10 ast, 4 stl, 6 TO, 2 fouls, 21 min

18 point comeback falls short in OT
Cincy sharpshooters too much for Syracuse, upset Orange
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
In a near carbon copy of the USF game, Cincinnati held a slight edge over the Orange in the first half, 37-33. Both teams had nearly identical stats, but the Bearcats were deadly from long range, as they were 5/10 from beyond the arc. Flynn and Greene both had 11 points to lead all scorers.
Unlike the USF game, Cincinnati dominated the beginning of the second half. They jumped out to an 18 point lead 4 minutes into the half, and all looked lost. But when you have the talent 'Cuse has, no deficit is insurmountable. Jonny Flynn led his team back, cutting it to 2 points following his three, 58-60 with 3:00 left.
The Orange would finally tie it up with a minute to play, after Flynn drained a jumper from the top of the key, 65-65. The press off the inbounds gave Donte Greene a steal in Syracuse's half of the court, and he passed it to a streaking Flynn for the dunk and the lead seconds later. Cincy would tie it up, and after missed shots on both ends, this game was headed to OT.
Cincy took an early lead, and after Syracuse tied it up with :40 left, Deonta Vaughn answered with a three to put the 'Cats up. Flynn failed to answer, and Cincinnati came away with the upset, 82-79.
Vaughn finished with 19 and 5 assists, but SF Mitchell had POTG with 29 points and 6/14 3pt shooting. Flynn and Devendorf both came close to a double-double, as Devendorf had 21 points and 7 assists. Donte Greene added 13 and 7 rebounds.
Flynn's Stats: 25 pts, 1 reb, 7 ast, 3 stl, 4 TO, 24 min
7/27 FG, 3/13 3pt, 8/8 FT
Flynn's Comment: I shot it 27 times. That's bad, even if I make a lot. I failed to answer my team's call when we needed it most, and missed some big shots down the stretch. I feel like this loss was my fault.

I drove the lane so much, but their one big guy I forgot to post had like 6 blocks. I'd usually get a foul called but nothing doin for this game.
I hate those games where you can't get a call. Sometimes it doesn't even count as a block either it just counts as a rebound. I like to penetrate the lane with my guards and either go up or dish it out but when you can't get a call its tough to get anything going offensively.

Sky High Mountaineers
West Virginia hands 'Cuse second straight loss led by three point shooting
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Syracuse were given their second straight loss tonight, as West Virginia came right off the bat and took control of this game. Just like the Cincy game, shooting from beyond the arc played a key role in beating the Orange.
The Mountaineers' press got to 'Cuse early and often, giving Jonny Flynn fits throughout the night (9 turnovers for the frosh). Though a balanced scoring attack helped the Orange, their defense, usually very good, did not play well tonight at all. WVU ripped through their 2-3 defense and even man, and by half it was 45-34.
Things got even worse in the second half, as the Mountaineers jumped to a 14 point lead at one point. Midway through the half, Coach Boeheim threw a new press at WVU, the 1-2-1-1, and it brought 'Cuse back immediately, going on a 14-2 run and cutting the lead to 1. That was as close as they'd get, as West Virginia came to and pounded 'Cuse in the final minutes.
Huggin's squad was led by SF Butler, who made 6 threes and had a game high 33 points. Joe Alexander had 14 and 7 rebounds, and Darris Nichols had 15 assists to go with 8 points. The Mountaineers shot 11/26 from beyond the arc, while 'Cuse shot 6/19. Donte Greene had 13 and 5 steals, and Arinze Onuaku had 12 points and 7 rebounds.
Flynn's Stats: 31 pts, 3 reb, 5 ast, 4 stl, 9 TO, 1 foul, 22 min
13/28 FG, 4/13 3pt, 1/2 FT
Flynn's Comment: I shot a lot again tonight, and even though I had 31, 9 turnovers is killin' me. We gotta step up now, or the season could be lost.

Orange Bounce Back
Syracuse responds to two losses by beheading Knights
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
After two tough losses to middle of the road teams, Syracuse needed this win against Rutgers, and they got it, 82-71.
Though the Knights stuck with the Orange, 'Cuse eventually took them out of the game in the second half, by taking a 20 point lead. The Scarlet Knights, led by PF Inman, who had 24 points and 12 boards, cut the lead to 7 at one point, but no closer. Donte' Greene and Jonny Flynn took away any chance by hitting two consecutive threes, and the game was done.
Syracuse finally had another team game, as several players were close to double-doubles, with Greene having 18 and 9 rebounds, and Paul Harris with 12 points and 8 boards. Arinze Onuaku contributed 3 blocks, and Eric Devendorf had 11 and 5 assists.
Flynn's Stats: 12 pts, 9 ast, 2 stl, 2 TO, 2 fouls, 22 min
3/7 FG, 2/4 3pt, 4/6 FT

(14-4) #15 Syracuse Orange..45...34...79
Can't Hit One
Villanova's shooters struggle against upstart Orange
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Villanova was simply...atrocious in the first half. Their good set of three point shooters could not buy a shot, as they shot 29% from the field, while Syracuse was on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, shooting 71%. Syracuse made 7/10 threes, while 'Nova was 3/15, as Flynn and Devendorf combined for more points (24) than the entire Wildcats' team, en route to a 45-20 massacre.
They'd have to do better, right? Well, a little bit. They managed to score 33 points in the second half, but then again, that was against the Syracuse reserves half the time. It was just a horrible night for Wildcat fans, but a great one for Syracuse going into their rivalry game with Georgetown.
Jonny Flynn earned yet another POTG, with 26 points and 6 assists in only 18 minutes, despite having 8 turnovers. Eric Devendorf did great on the defensive end, with 5 steals and 11 points. And Scoop Jardine had 16 for the Orange, in 12 minutes. Scottie Reynolds had a bad game, with 12points, 5 assists, and 6 turnovers, and Corey Fisher shot 2/10 from downtown for 6 points. SF Clark had 22 points, and 'Nova shot 35% on the game, and were outrebounded 16-28.
Flynn's Stats: 26 pts, 6 ast, 3 stl, 8 TO, 2 fouls, 18 min
11/18 FG, 4/7 3pt
Flynn's Comment: Big win over a rival tonight, and another rival coming up soon. Our defense stepped it up, and this week couldn't have gone better.

Hoyas get the best of first matchup
Hibbert's 20 lead Georgetown as they never trail in rivalry matchup
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Jonny Flynn couldn't do much more to help his team tonight, as even though he scored 27 and had 7 dimes, Roy Hibbert's 20 points and Georgetown's defense helped the Hoyas dominate in the first matchup of these two bitter rivals.
GTown went up by 10 early on in the first half, but Syracuse, like always, creeped back into it. Coach Boeheim said he knew the game was over when Jonathan Wallace hit a buzzer beater three, while getting fouled at the end of the first half to put John Thompson's team up 31-26 at break.
The second half is when Syracuse really started to make a run, as they tied the game several times. Whenever they did though, the #3 team would just get their lead back up to 6 or 8. The Orange never led in the game, as their offensive woes (4/15 3pt shooting) doomed them, despite forcing 13 turnovers.
Wallace had 16 points on 4/7 3pt shooting, and Patrick Ewing Jr. had 13 points and 8 rebounds. Hibbert had 20 and 5, and Paul Harris had 13 and 5 boards, and 4 steals for the Orange. Syracuse only had 2 bench points, belonging to Scoop Jardine.
Flynn's Stats (POTG): 27 pts, 7 ast, 5 stl, 3 TO, 3 fouls, 21 min
10/23 FG, 3/7 3pt, 4/4 FT

January 22nd, 2008
Reporter: Jonny, what did you think of the game last night?
Flynn: I think we still need some work, and again, we showed we're not yet at that elite status. Quite honestly, I can't think of any one spot we need work on. We need to work on all aspects of our game for the remainder of the season.
Reporter: You're averaging 20.8 points and 6.9 assists, and are a frontrunner for Big East Player of the Year. Do you feel your teammates aren't putting in as much effort?
Flynn: What? Are you serious right now man? Yeah, I've got 20 somethin' points, but does that mean I'm working harder than my team? Yeah, I'm workin' hard, but Paul's (Harris) knee has been hurtin all year, Donte's been hurt, not to mention all those players we got on the bench who work just as ****in' hard. This is why I don't like these press conferences, cause of ****heads like you.

And the Woes Continue...
Flynn sprains ankle, Friars hold on for upset
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Jonny Flynn, no doubt the Orange MVP thus far, sprained his ankle with a minute left in the first half tonight, with Syracuse down by 4. Luckily, his status is positive and it doesn't look to be severe.
Still, even with Flynn, Syracuse looked lost out there in the first half. Providence's shooters were lights out, and rebounding absolutely killed the Orange, as Geoff McDermott grabbed 10. 'Cuse played, well, average, and you can't play average against a very talented team in Providence, as they were up at half, 37-30. Flynn had nearly all of the Orange points, as he had 20 in the first half! He went down with a minute left, after taking a hard spill after driving to the basket, clutching his ankle immediately. 'Cuse fans thought the worse, but were relieved to see him walk off the court on his support.
There was stlil a game to be played, and the Orange simply lacked the confidence and energy to make any sort of real comeback. Providence hit their free throws down the stretch, and all the baskets in the world couldn't save 'Cuse, as they went down for a second straight time, 64-61.
Eric Devendorf had 15 points and 3 assists in his absence, and Donte Greene added 10. Arinze Onuaku had 8 and 9 boards, and SF McKenzie of the Friars had 12 points, while Stefon Curry had 11.
Flynn's Stats: 20 pts, 5 ast, 2 stl, 2 TO, 1 foul, 12 min
5/11 FG, 3/8 3pt, 7/10 FT
Flynn's Comment: Once again I apolgize for my break out earlier in the week, and I think my ankle should be alright for next game. We have to pick it up soon.
(Note: once Flynn went down, I simmed the rest of the game. Diagnosis says only 2 days.)

Tonight was Donte Greene's night. With 20 points and 14 boards, he dominated a small DePaul squad tonight, en route to an 83-59 dismantling of the Blue Demons.
Jonny Flynn's performance wasn't anything special, only 1 assist in his return from a sprained ankle, but he had only 1 turnover, and that was key tonight. 'Cuse forced 16 turnovers in the game, and their defense simply shut down DePaul on all accounts tonight, as they only scored those 59 points.
The game was never really close, as other notables include Devendorf's 12 points and Arinze Onuaku's near double-double, 9 points and rebounds and 2 blocks. Jabari Currie had 5 points for the Blue Deamons
Flynn's Stats: 14 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl, 1 TO, 1 foul, 19 min

Orange comeback falls short
Frosh try to lead 'Cuse back, but the boys from Philly gets their revenge
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
In what will be remembered as one of the best games in recent Syracuse basketball history, Villanova got their revenge after their horrible performance at the Carrier Dome earlier in the season.
The first few minutes of the first half showed that Villanova hadn't gotten any better since their poor offensive game before, as Syracuse jumped to an early lead. Villanova fought back, and their shooters started to turn it on, as SF Clark led them to a 40-36 halftime lead with 18 first half points.
As most second halves have gone, the Orange fought back hard, but only took the lead a couple times, by 1, and could never hold it. The Wildcats started to pull it out in the last minute and a half, pushing the lead to as much as 10, and leading by 8 with :40 left. That's when Jonny Flynn knew he had to do something, and tried his damn hardest, as he, Devendorf, and Greene cut it to a 3 point game in a matter of seconds, with :23 left.
Syracuse, after attempting some steals, fouled Scottie Reynolds (18 pts, 6 ast) with :15 left. He made both, pushing the lead to 5. Flynn raced down the court, and passed it to Devendorf in the corner, who's three barely went in with :5.4 seconds remaining. The 'Cuse press forced a steal by Paul Harris, who gave it to Greene, who gave it to a streaking Flynn at the free throw line, who's contested lay up seemed to sit on the rim for hours, before rimming out, giving the 'Cats the win.
Clark had POTG honors with 23 points and 5 boards, and Corey Fisher had 21 on 3/3 3pt shooting. Devendorf had 12, Harris 10, and Greene 19 and 2 blocks. Syracuse could not get a call inside, and Villanova shot 13/14 from the charity stripe.
Flynn's Stats: 19 pts, 9 ast, 4 stl, 6 TO, 2 fouls, 22 min
8/23 FG, 2/11 3pt, 1/3 FT
Flynn's Comment: Bad shooting night for me, and I really wanted that win. We needed it, and now our season is going down the drain. We HAVE to pick it up, I know I've been saying that, but with UConn coming up next, it's now or never.

Duel At Point
Price and Flynn combine for 59 points; Orange hold off rival
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Many thought the frontcourts of these two teams would decide who would win in this bitter rivalry. Outside of rebounding, they were wrong. AJ Price and Jonny Flynn went to war, and while Price won the battle, Flynn won it all.
Syracuse leaded by as much as 17 in the first half, and the state of Connecticut was silenced, as the Carrier Dome was rocking. Slowly but surely, UConn wittled the lead away, and were only down 8 at half. Flynn had 18 points and Price had 14, the only players in double digits.
The second half continued the same. The Orange jumped off to a big lead early on, but the same thing happened - the Huskies climbed back into it. Flynn and Price traded baskets, as if the game was 1 on 1. The game wasn't as close as the box score shows, as UConn hit every single three in the last minute, but 'Cuse hit their free throws, and came away with a victory after a disappointing loss in Philly.
Flynn earned POTG with 29 points, despite Price scoring 30 and having 5 assists (3/5 from three). Dyson had 15 for the Huskies, and Hasheem Thabeet had 7, 6 boards and 2 blocks. Devendorf had 17, and Donte Greene was close to a double-double with 9 points and rebounds, and Arinze Onuaku added 9 boards.
Flynn's Stats: 29 pts, 5 ast, 3 stl, 7 TO, 2 fouls, 23 min
9/18 FG, 3/7 3pt, 8/10 FT
Flynn's Comment: This was a pretty good win for us, but we gotta keep at it. I gotta give it to AJ, he's a helluva player, but this was a must-win, and this is just another step on the road to the final four.

And the 'Town Falls
Flynn's game winner with 6.2 seconds caps one of the best performances by a freshman at 'Cuse
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
If people thought the last game between these two teams was good, they were in for a surprise. Jonny Flynn's 30 point, 9 assist performance, was one of the best games of an Orange freshman to date. He outdid center Roy Hibbert, who had 36 points, as tempers flared during this game.
Both teams came out pretty equal in the first half, with Georgetown, like last game, always having the edge. Roy Hibbert (36 pts, 5 reb, 2 blk) was simply an animal inside, with 18 first half points (Flynn had 14 to lead 'Cuse). After a Donte' Greene buzzer beating 3, Syracuse went into half down, 34-37.
The second half is when things got ugly. Elbows were thrown and cheap shots taken, yet this game came down to whoever wanted it more. It all climaxed when Rick Jackson was hit in the face inadvertently by Patrick Ewing, Jr., and a small fight broke out, but play was resumed soon after. In the final few minutes of play, teams just did not play defense, and offenses scored at will, it seemed to come down to whoever had the ball last.
As the lead switched every possession seemingly, Georgetown's Jonathan Wallace (11 pts, 6 ast) hit a three with 2 minutes left to give Georgetown an 80-78 lead. After both teams missed a couple shots, Flynn drove to the hoop and layed it in with a minute left, tying it up. Seconds later, Roy Hibbert would hit a turnaround jumper, and that would be the Hoyas last points. After the Orange missed a shot, Georgetown had possession for the final 35 seconds. Who else would take over but Flynn, who stole the ball from Wallace and took it to the whole for the tie at 82, with :26 left.
But the Orange didn't want overtime, as they were dead tired. So Flynn made something happen again, and it was unpredictable. Instead of passing it to the hot hand Eric Devendorf (21 pts, 4/7 3pt), Flynn took it in himself with the big boys. He drove to the hoop, and while being pushed and shoved and contested, he swished a lay up with 6.2 seconds for the win.
Flynn was no doubt the POTG, and despite Georgetown shooting 69% from the field, they turned it over 16 times. Donte Greene had a fantastic defensive game, with 16 pts, 4 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks.
Flynn's Stats: 30 pts, 9 ast, 6 stl, 7 TO, 2 fouls, 23 min
12/22 FG, 3/9 3pt, 3/4 FT
Flynn's Comment: This was just such a great game to be a part of. We hate 'em, they hate us, but our fans were huge for us tonight. (Really, they were, I got 6th man like every other basket I made in the last half of the second half, it really helped me keep my starters in the whole half).

This will be a very tough week for the Orange, who move up to #9 in the polls. Georgetown dropped to #3, and Pitt lost so they drop to #8. Louisville comes in a very underrated team, as they seem to have flown under the radar this year, despite their 20-6 record. They have a slew of talent and shooters, and can win any game if they set their minds to it. No doubt a big week for Syracuse.

He switches sides to nuetral i think. Oh and player locks are pretty fun, I suggest trying it. You can call for teamates to pass it to you and even tell them when to shoot. The only downside is that they always expect to pass it to you. So they will all stand still for like 20 seconds until you finally call for a pass.

(20-6) #11 Louisville Cardinals...28...42...70
Orange Can't Hold off Cards
'Cuse falls apart in second half, balanced L'Ville attack too much
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Unlike most games, Syracuse had a horrible second half, in which they let a 9 point lead slip away to the #11 Louisville Cardinals.
This game had been pencilled in by experts as a dandy of a game, and it didn't disappoint. The teams fought back and forth in the first half, with Syracuse holding a slight advantage, led by Jonny Flynn's 14 points. David Padgett was tearing it up for the Cards, as Louisville was dominating the boards, leading 15-8 at half in that battle.
And ultimately, that's what killed the Orange in the second half. Louisville dominated the boards, and got several second chance points, and hit their threes late. Syracuse just didn't want to play defense, or score, so the double-whammy doomed the Orange, who ended up losing 70-62.
SF Terrence Williams won POTG, with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Flynn had a helluva game in a losing effort, which is probably why he didn't get the award (27 pts, 6 ast). Padgett had 13 points and 10 rebounds, Edgar Sosa contributed with 12 and 4 assists, and Clark had 13. Arinze Onuaku had 12 points, and Paul Harris had 9 and 6 rebounds, despite being outrebounded 28-17 on the game.
Flynn's Stats: 27 pts, 6 ast, 4 stl, 4 TO, 4 fouls, 21 min
9/21 FG, 1/6 3pt, 8/8 FT
Flynn's Comment: This was a tough loss to swallow, and I know people are sayin' we aren't that good because we struggle to beat the top teams, but I think we're right there, one step away from bein' elite.

(16-9) Notre Dame Fighting Irish..44...36...80
Devendorf and Greene hold off Harangody
Orange survive late run by Irish, get 20th win
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Syracuse narrowly escaped defeat tonight, as they headed west to Indiana to take on Notre Dame. Although the Irish's record wasn't as good, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that they had the players to contend with the Orange.
In the first half, both teams went back and forth, neither wanting to take the lead for sure. It was the Irish big men who were competing with Syracuse, not the guards, as Rob Kurz and Luke Harangody combined for 23 of the Irish's points, but the score was still 46-44 in 'Cuse's favor. Jonny Flynn didn't play much in the first half, as Boeheim wanted to give him a rest, still managing to score 7.
Notre Dame bursted out of the gate in the second half, thanks to a Kyle McAlarney three (his only of the game, 9 pts 6 ast), which ignited a 12-2 run by the Irish. They would hold onto that slim lead for about, oh, 1 minute. Eric Devendorf and Donte' Greene took the reigns from Notre Dame, and controlled the remainder of the game. The Orange took the lead and never looked back, hitting their free throws down the stretch, 84-80.
Although Flynn only finished with 10, his defense in the second half (4 steals) propelled this win. Greene had POTG, with 21 poits and 6 rebounds, also adding 2 blocks. Arinze Onuaku had 7 boards and 3 blocks, and Devenorf finished with 21 and 4 assists. Harangody had 19 and 9 boards, and Kurz had 7 and 8. The Orange shot 8/13 from three, while ND shot 4/17.
Flynn's Stats: 10 pts, 2 ast, 4 stl, 3 TO, 2 fouls, 14 min
3/11 FG, 3/4 3pt, 1/2 FT
Flynn's Comment: I was just dead tired today, and luckily we were able to pull out the W. We got a very tough game next week against Pitt, but we got 6 days to prepare, so we'll be good.

Flynn's superb second half paces Orange
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
"I don't know what's wrong with my shot these days, but who the hell cares, we're winning, and that's all that matters," said a smiling Jonny Flynn after tonight's 20 point mauling of the #7 team. Flynn and Syracuse showed the Selection Committee that they are a team to be reckoned with this season.
The first half saw these two teams battle it out, as many thought would happen. It was a tie game for most of the half, but Paul Harris nailed a buzzer beater from 30 feet out to give the Orange a 3 point advantage at halftime. The teams were even steven stat wise, as Flynn had 8 points, but only 1 assist, on 4/11 shooting.
His shot didn't fall much tonight, but it didn't matter. He scored from inside, as he shot 0/5 from downtown, and dished out 8 second half assists, also nabbing 5 steals. The second half, as it usually is, was Syracuse's time. After Pitt took a 39-38 lead, Jonny Flynn assisted two straight alley oops to Paul Harris and Donte Greene, and from then on, they never trailed again, as their starters (except Arinze Onuaku) played the entire second half en route to a 20 point blowout.
Devendorf played well, going 7/12 from the field for 16 points, as did Paul Harris, who had 17 and 8 rebounds. Donte Greene came close to a double-double, with 9 points and 11 rebounds and 3 blocks.Benjamin led the Panthers with 14 points. Levance Fields had 8 points, 8 assists, and 5 steals.
Even though Flynn shot terribly (10/20 FG) and was horrible with the ball (10 turnovers!!!), he made it up with those 9 assists and 6 steals. Syracuse, after the two teams being tied at halftime at 14 apiece, absolutely crushed Pittsburgh on the boards in the second half, outrebounding them 33-19 on the game. Pitt shot 47% from three, but it didn't matter.
Flynn's Stats: 24 pts, 9 ast, 6 stl, 10 TO, 2 fouls, 23 min
10/20 FG, 0/5 3pt, 4/5 FT
Flynn's Comment: Tonight was jsut such an adrenaline rush, I didn't wanna come out of the game in the second half. When we're on, I think we can beat anyone, as we've already beaten two top teams this year.

Greene and Orange take care of Pirates in second half
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
After a tough first half, which saw Eugene Harvey take over for Seton Hall and score 14 points, the Orange found themselves up by only a point, 44-43. Turnovers were killing them, as they had 11 in the first half. Luckily, their talent had them winning still.
In the second half it was a whole different story. Syracuse dominated on the boards, and Harvey couldn't get anything going, with no points and 5 turnovers in the second period. Donte' Greene caught fire, as did Eric Devendorf, and the Orange comfortably ousted Seton Hall, holding them to 30 points.
Devendorf had 17 points, and Donte Greene added a double double for POTG, with 19 points and 11 rebounds, adding 3 blocks. Despite 19 turnovers in the game, Syracuse came away with a fairly easy victory headed into their last game of the regular season, against #22 Marquette.

Flynn's 29 lift Orange over Eagles, clinch #2 seed
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
With a win tonight, Syracuse took the next step towards a surprisingly very good season by clinching the #2 seed in the Big East tournament. The Orange moved to 12-6 in conference play, behind only Louisville.
Marquette came out tough in the first half, led by Jerrell McNeal (22 points, 6 assists). They took the lead on a couple occasions, but could never hold it, as it was a game of runs tonight. Syracuse was dominating on the offensive boards (6-1), and that propelled them to an 11 point half time lead, led by Flynn's 10 points and 4 assists.
The Golden Eagles wouldn't go down without a fight, as they went on a 9-0 run to start the half, cutting the lead to 2. Jonny Flynn and 'Cuse weathered the storm, and he hit a three to start a run of their own, as the game was never close from then on. The Orange simply dominated the game, and if it weren't for Marquette suddenly catching fire in the last minute, the scoreboard would have been a lot worse.
Dominic James did pretty well, with 16 points and 5 assists, but had 7 turnovers. Eric Devendorf had 17, Arinze Onuaku had 13 rebounds, and Scoop Jardine had 10 points. Flynn easily earned POTG with his performance. Syracuse outrebounded Marquette, 30-16.
Flynn's Stats: 29 pts, 5 ast, 5 stl, 4 TO, 1 foul, 24 min
10/18 FG, 4/6 3pt, 5/6 FT
Flynn's Comment: This was a big win for us, getting that first round bye. The tourney will be tough, it always is, but we just gotta go out and do our thing.

Husky Revenge
Flynn's double-double can't help Syracuse, UConn scores upset
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
"There comes a point in time where you gotta say, 'what more could go wrong'"? That's all Coach Boeheim had to say about tonight's game, where they got completely dominated in every aspect against Connecticut. The Huskies avenged their loss earlier in the season, by thoroughly crushing the Orange, 82-69.
The Huskies just could not miss all game (63% FG), and dominated the boards (24-12, 9-2 off), and their press just frustrated Syracuse, forcing 16 turnovers. Instead of going to AJ Price like last time, the guy who stepped up was Craig Austrie, who finished with 28 on 4/8 3pt shooting. He had 16 in the first half, and even though the Orange thought they were close in the first half, they weren't, and following a Stanley Robinson buzzer beater dunk, went into the lockers down by 9. Flynn played great however, with 12 points and 8 assists in the half.
Things just got worse in the second half, and no matter what defense or offense the Orange tried, nothing worked. The Huskies were just perfect all game, and the young Syracuse team seemed a bit out of place in the Verizon Center, as the pressure was on to perform. The only good thing of the second half, was that Flynn had a double double within the first minute.
All 5 starters for UConn finished in double digits (Price 11, Robinson 18, Adrien 10, Thabeet 11), while only Jonny Flynn and Eric Devendorf did for the Orange (both had 19). Harris and Greene both had 7, and Onuaku had 9, and only 2 rebounds, which is way too little for him.
Flynn's Stats: 19 pts, 15 ast, 3 stl, 7 TO, 2 fouls, 24 min
7/16 FG, 3/7 3pt, 2/2 FT
Flynn's Comment: I just don't think we were prepared at all really. UConn seemed so on tonight, and there was nothing we could do to stop them really. None of us were really aggressive, and just let them attack us again and again.

I figured I had to do a nuetral site, so I did the Verizon Center (GTown's, Washington Wizards). I have to tell ya, if you've never played a player lock game, with crowd sounds and everything turned all the way up, on a nuetral court against a rival, I suggest you do it. People say this game doesn't have atmosphere? Try that.

Sunday, March 16th
Greg Gumble: Welcome everyone, we're going to get right to it, as here are the #1 seeds, the moment everyone's been waiting for. March Madness is here!
Clark: But first, the BUBBLE TEAMS! Who will be in? Texas (20-13) looks to be in, and Rhode Island (25-11) should be in with their great record. Boston College (18-12) might miss out.
Greg: Let's look at the top 4 teams in each region, shall we?
East
1 UCLA
2 Syracuse
3 Arizona
4 Duke
South
1 Michigan State
2 Louisville
3 Vanderbilt
4 Gonzaga
Midwest
1 Kansas
2 Kentucky
3 North Carolina
4 Providence
West
1 Pittsburgh
2 Memphis
3 Georgetown
4 New Mexico
Clark: Pittsburgh really surprised everyone with their run in the BET. I think they'll be the first #1 seed to be taken out this year.
Greg: Clark, what do you think is the hardest region?
Clark: The East is definatley looking tough. UCLA is the #1 overall team, and a potential 4/5 matchup with Connecticut and Duke is looking very juicy. Arizona as a #3 seed, and Indiana as a #7 just shows how deep this region is. Then you have Syracuse at 2, a team who disappointed in their conference tourney but has the talent to go far this year.
Greg: The easiest?
Clark: The West looks very weak. Pittsburgh is no doubt the weakest 1 seed, but it looks like they have a very easy road to the Elite 8 (having to play #16 Hampton, #8 Saint Marys, and #4 New Mexico/#5 Texas A&M potentially).
Greg: Now a look at the conference breakdown. The Big East has a fantastic 8, while the Big 12 and A-10 relly surprised with 6. The Big Ten got a mere 2, while the SEC, Pac 10, and ACC all had 5.
Clark: MORE BUBBLE TEAMS! Texas got in, as did Saint Louis. Boston College is the biggest surprise getting in, while Utah, Cal, Auburn, and Illinois all missed out.
Greg: Now that we've revealed all the brackets, who do you see in the final four, and who are your sleepers?
Clark: I like UCLA in the East, but look out for Duke, who seems to be a bit angry after being snubbed to a #4 seed. In the South, I think #2 Louisville has a pretty easy road, and can beat Michigan State. For my sleeper, I think #11 Rhode Island has the shooters to do some damage. The Midwest is definately tough, and I think #3 North Carolina has the most potential. #9 Tennessee could upset Kansas I think, and go pretty far. In the weak West, #3 Georgetown is definately the favorite, with #5 Texas A&M the sleeper, as I think they could upset Pittsburgh if they meet.
And in the final four, I see UCLA beating Louisville, and North Carolina beating Georgetown. Then I predict North Carolina as your national champions.
Greg: Thanks Clark, now we'll take a closer look at the East regional.

David Meeks, SUhoops.com
When asked about what he thought of Syracuse's position in the tourney, Jonny Flynn responded, "We're all extremely happy to be a 2 seed, as after being snubbed last year, maybe the commitee decided to repay us (laughs). We think we can definately go far this year, and we're not looking forward to next year at all."
Well, Flynn didn't need to do much tonight, playing only 15 minutes, as Syracuse dominated Vermont from start to finish, and never once trailed. There isn't much else to say, as this was pretty expected for the Orange. The defense played very well in the second half, holding the Catamounts to 25 points, and blocking 8 shots while forcing 19 turnovers.
Devendorf had 28 and 6 assists for POTG, Paul Harris had 15 and 12 rebounds, and Donte Greene had 18 and 8 and 4 blocks.
Flynn's Stats: 8 pts, 3 reb, 4 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk, 2 TO, 3 fouls, 15 min
2/9 FG, 1/6 3pt, 3/6 FT
Flynn's Comment: I didn't play well at all tonight, couldn't shoot or pass. But we still blew them out, right? That's what makes our team so great. If you shut down one of us, another player will step up big.

Greg: Wow, what a great first round, Clark. Tons of upsets and buzzer beaters. What upsets did you like, and what second round games will you be looking forward to?
Clark: Well, I did not see Connecticut losing in the first round. Duke narrowly escaped an upset against cinderella George Mason with a buzzer beater, which was quite a finish. Two upsets will face each other in the second round, Pacific and Oregon, which should be fun to watch. Syracuse and Indiana will be amazing to watch in the East.
Greg: And in the South, surprsingly the only upset was #10 Texas over #7 Southern Illinois, which many predicted. The 'Horns will face off against your pick, Louisville. Many see that game as the featured game in the South.
Clark: Agree there. In the Midwest, my sleeper Tennessee nailed Baylor and will face off against #1 Kansas. Two BE teams will square off in the 4/5 spot, 5 WVU and 4 Providence. #10 Clemson upset #7 Xavier in the only real upset. Hard to pick just one great game, but I am loving #6 Marquette and #3 North Carolina.
Greg: Several upsets in the West, where 12 Temple beat 5 Texas A&M, and 13 TCU beat a pretty overrated 4 New Mexico. 10 Alabama beat 7 Kansas State, and will play Memphis, who simply destroyed Kent State. 6 Oklahoma and 3 Georgetown is lookking pretty good right now.

Madness Results in 18 Point Comeback
Orange fight their way back, Greene's bucket advances 'Cuse
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
This game looked to be another Connecticut, as Indiana couldn't miss a three, going 6/7 in the first half en route to a 14 point lead. Syracuse couldn't do much right, as Eric Gordon had 12 points.
Things continued just like UConn in the second half, as the Hoosiers built an 18 point lead. Slowly but surely, from the 8 minute mark on, Syracuse inched back into the game, three by three, bucket by bucket. The defense suddenly turned it on, and the Orange cut the lead to 3 with about 6 minutes left, but could never tie. The Orange finally tied it up at 67 with a minute remaining, following two threes by Flynn and Devendorf.
With the score tied, and a 5 second shot clock difference, Syracuse had the ball. Jonny Flynn waited til there was :10 left on the shot clock, drove the lane, and handed it off to Donte' Greene, who sank the 4 footer with :07 left. Indiana tried to get the ball to Eric Gordon, but couldn't, and their center ended up taking a three, and following an air ball, the Orange escaped.
Flynn eanred POTG, with 1 assist away from a double double. Devendorf had 12 and 4 steals, and 5/8 3pt shooting, and Paul Harris had 12 and 5 rebounds. Eric Gordon finished with 18, and Ratliff had 17 off the bench for the Hoosiers, who only made one three in the second half (7/10 on the game). Despite being outrebounded 25-15, the Orange forced 16 turnovers and had 7 blocks (4 by Onuaku).
Flynn's Stats: 21 pts, 9 ast, 4 stl, 6 TO, 3 fouls, 24 min
8/16 FG, 3/6 3pt, 2/2 FT
Flynn's Comment: Man, this was my initiation into March Madness. This is why this is the best playoff system out there, for games like these. It was a joy to be in, and I have to commend Indiana for a great game.

Second Round Review
1 UCLA - 95

4 Duke - 102
11 Oregon - 88
14 Pacific - 48
7 Indiana - 67
2 Syracuse - 69
Greg: Well Clark, there was no shortage of excitement in the second round. What was your favorite game?
Clark: It's hard not to say the Syracuse-Indiana game. Two classic teams facing off, and you gotta love the heart of Jonny Flynn and that Syracuse team. That East regional is looking more and more entertaining as this thing progresses. That Duke-UCLA game is looking fantastic as well.
Greg: In the South, #1Michigan State upended #8 LSU by 4, and #5 Stanford beat #4 Gonzaga by 1 in another great game. It looks like your final four team was upset, as they lost to #10 Texas in a great game by 4, who willl play #3 Vanderbilt.
Clark: But I did get something right, in the Midwest, as #9 Tennessee upset #1 Kansas. Did I not call it? They'll play #4 Providence. #3 UNC controlled #6 Marquette, and will face off in a game between two old time teams, North Carolina and #2 Kentucky.
Greg: And finally, in the West, Pittsburgh survived a late #8 Saint Mary's run, and #12 Temple crushed #13 TCU. #2 Memphis was upset by #10 Alabama by 4, and will face off against your pick, #3 Georgetown.

David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Syracuse knew they were going to win this game tonight. It wasn't cockyness, it was confidence, and they knew that after a very close game with Indiana, they wouldn't let that happen again.
Jonny Flynn hit a three to start the first half (4/5 for the game), and from then on, the Orange never trailed. Led by Flynn and Donte' Greene, Syracuse took a commanding 49-40 lead, as the two combined for 22 points, holding Oregon high scorer Bryce Taylor to a mere 3 points.
Duck fans would have nothing to quack about in the second half either, as Syracuse came out and took a 28 point lead early on, and the subs kept the run going throughout. "It was a great win for this school," said Boeheim. "We wanted to show how even though we're a young team, we've got the talent anad heart to go deep."
Greene had POTG as he had one of his best games of his career, with 28 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 4 blocks. Paul Harris had 14 and 8, and Onuaku added 10. The bench had 23 points for Syracuse. Taylor finished with 11 for the Ducks, and Porter had 17.
Flynn's Stats: 22 pts, 4 reb, 4 ast, 1 stl, 3 TO, 3 fouls, 20 min
5/6 FG, 4/5 3pt, 8/10 FT
Flynn's Comment: As we keep goin through the tourney, I get more and more excited. I feel like a kid living out my dreams, and it's great that we've gone far, but I'm not satisfied yet.

Sweet 16 Review
With Greg Gumble and Clark Kellog
1 UCLA - 68
4 Duke - 83
11 Oregon - 72
2 Syracuse - 99
Greg: Well Clark, another round is in the books. Contrary to the past rounds, the Sweet 16 had many blowouts and only a couple close games. In the East, #4 Duke dominated #1 UCLAand won 93-68, led by Kyle Singler's 19 and 11 and 4 blocks. They'll face off against #2 Syracuse, who dismantled #11 Oregon, with Donte' Greene's 28 points. That should be a great game.
Clark: You're right Greg, that Singler-Greene matchup should be great, as well as Greg Paulus and Jonny Flynn, but I think Duke will come out on top, they're just too well coached and balanced.
Greg: And in the South, #5 Stanfor was crushed by #1 Michigan State, 81-65, led by Raymar Morgan's 16 and 11. They'll play cinderella #10 Texas, who dismantled #3 Vanderbilt, 104-79, with Augustin and Abrams combining for 59 points.
Clark: I like Texas in that matchup actually, I think they have the guards to compete with Neitzel and Co.
Greg: Andd #9 Tennessee's miracle run was ended in the Midwest, as they lost by 3 to #4 Providence, who will play #3 North Carolina. UNC edged out #2 Kentucky, 96-93, led by Tyler Hansbrough's 31 points.
Clark: North Carolina was my pick earlier, and they'll stay my pick.
Greg: Finally, in the West, your overrated team, #1 Pittsburgh, was upended by another cinderella, #12 Temple, who crushed them. Your pick from this region, #3 Georgetown, will play them as they beat #10 Alabama handily. I'll just go ahead and assume Georgetown is your pick there.
Well that's it for us here in the review show, we'll see you back in a couple days for the Elite 8!

Blue Devils balanced attack upsets Syracuse, sends them packing
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
"I don't want to take anything away from Duke, they deserved this win, but we should have played better and won this game," said a frustrated, yet not angered Coach Boeheim. The Orange never led for most of the first half and the entire second.
Duke was simply too balanced to target one player. Kyle Singler had 11 points in the first half, as their 5 offensive rebounds helped them to a 7 point lead at halftime. Syracuse led briefly, 15-14 early on, but that was the only time. Paul Harris and Donte' Greene each had 9 in the first half.
In the second half, the Orange would find themselves down 18 at one point. Turnovers were killing 'Cuse, even though they had less than Duke (14-18). In fact, the only stat Duke was better in than Syracuse was FG% (59-51). Still, the Orange played conservative all game, and just didn't look like they wanted to win.
They would catch fire with about a minute and a half to go, when theyh were down 15. They cut the lead to 7 with a minute left, to 5 with :30 left, and 4 with :15 left, but it was all for naught, as Demarcus Nelson and his POTG performance would quiet 'Cuse.
Nelson had 34 points, and Greg Paulus had 13, 11 assists, and 5 steals, and Kyle Singler had 19 points and 9 boards. Eric evendorf had 5 steals with 13 points, and Paul Harris had 13 as well. Donte' Greene finished with 15, and Arinze Onuaku had 12 rebounds. No bench player scored for 'Cuse.
Flynn's Stats: 26 pts, 9 ast, 5 stl, 10 TO, 2 fouls, 22 min
8/17 FG, 2/8 3pt, 8/9 FT
Flynn's Comment: It was a really good season for a really young team. We don't have much depth, but we'll be good for years to come. It was disappointing, yeah, and I didn't play well at all. 10 turnovers from your PG wont win you any games, and a lot of blame on this loss should go to me.

Syracuse Press Conference
March 31st, 2008
Reporter: Coach Boeheim, what did you think of your team this year?
Boeheim: I think we showed a lot of heart with a very young team. We're in an extremely tough conference, and to get a #2 seed after missing the tournament last year is superb. These guys are a lot of fun to coach, I just wish we could have done a little bit more.
Reporter: Experts say you'll have all of your players back for next year, how much does that help?
Boeheim: I think it helps tremendously of course, with the core we have in place right now, we should be very good for years to come.
Reporter: Jonny, why do you think you lost last night?
Flynn: Well, of course there are a number of reasons. But I think Duke just played very well, I give them all the props in the world, and we just were off that night, that's all. We just gotta move on.
Reporter: Will you, Donte' (Greene), or Paul (Harris) be leaving for the NBA?
Flynn: Right now, that's out of the question for me. I'm not gonna speak for Donte' or Paul, but I've talked to them before and they're in agreement with me. We want a championship.
Reporter: Mr. Devendorf, what do you think your team needs to improve on for the 08/09 season?
Devendorf: I think with a couple recruits coming in, we'll have a lot more depth. We don't have many guards, and with Andy (Rautins, SG who tore his achilles before the season) coming back, we'll have more experience and shooters.
Reporter: How will you handle being one of the lone seniors on the team?
Devendorf: Same way I handled being the oldest this year, nothing's changed.
Boeheim: THank you all, we've got to head out now.

Elite 8 Review
With Greg Gumble and Clark Kellog
Greg: Another round is in the books, and the final four is set! Let's get right down to the results of the Elite 8. In the East regional, #4 Duke upset #2 Syracuse, 78-71. There's no doubt this will be a team to reckon with for the next couple rounds, as they've already knocked off the overall #1 team, UCLA, and now Syracuse.
Clark: No doubt Greg. But they'll have a tough matchup against #3 Georgetown of the West, who escaped a close one with cinderella #12 Temple, 80-78.
Greg: Agreed, it'll be tough for Duke to matchup with the height of the Hoyas. In the south, #10 Texas lost by a buzzer beater from #1 Michigan State's Drew Neitzel, 78-76. What a game that was, and will go down in history as one of the best games in tournament history.
Clark: And they'll play #3 North Carolina, who *ahem* I predicted would be in the final 4, as well as Georgetown. The Heels ran all over #4 Providence, 94-85, led by Ty Lawson's 16 and 6.
Greg: Well, who do you see in the national championship?
Clark: I see North Carolina beating MSU, and Georgetown beating Duke.

Final Four Review
With Greg Gumble and Clark Kellog
Greg: This is the moment every team's season wants to end up at, the Final Four! Who will it be?
Clark: Did I not tell you Greg?! How good am I?! Come on, tell me I'm good.
Greg: Oh, you're good.
Awkward silence
Greg: Well, Georgetown upended #4 Duke, 74-71. Kyle Singler had a game high 16 points, but Roy Hibbert's 13 paced the Hoyas.
Clark: And on the other side, #3 North Carolina was too much for #1 Michigan State, 89-83. Allen's 20 points couldn't help the Spartans, as Ty Lawson played phenomonally with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 13 assists. Danny Green added 19.
Greg: Well Clark, here we are, who do you see winning the NC?
Clark: This will be a very close game, but I think Lawson and Hansbourgh can shake off the Hoyas to become the National Champs. It should be very interesting with a fast paced team like UNC and a methodical team like GU.
(29-9) #3 North Carolina Tar Heels (91 ovr, RPI 12, 85.8 PPG, 33.6 RPG)
vs.
(26-9) #3 Georgetown Hoyas (89 ovr, RPI 2, 73.9 PPG, 27.7 RPG)

National Championship Review
Greg: The 07/08 season is in the books, Clark, and it looks like you were finally wrong!
Clark: You're right, I'm wrong.
Greg: Georgetown dominated in the second half after being down 34-36 in the first, and outscored the Tar Heels 47-28 in the second, en route to an 81-64 National Championship victory.
Clark: Roy Hibbert was POTG with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks. What a performance!
Greg: Psycho T for UNC had 29 and 6 boards, but no other Tar Heel was in double digits. Congradulations to the Hoyas!

Jonny Flynn Interview
David Meeks, SUhoops.com
Finally, after a year of following this up and coming star, I get to know him personally. Jonny Flynn finally accepted an invitation to do a little interview with me, talk about basketball, video games, life, and of course college life.
The national freshman of the year walked into the locker room at the Dome where I was waiting for him at about noon eastern. For a guy who was just upset in the Elite 8 a month or so ago, he had some swagger to him. His jacked up arms made him look taller than 6'.
Anyway, we got to talkin' pretty soon. He's a fun guy, very laid back and easy to talk to. My first question for him was what did he want to improve on for the next season.
"Everything."
Typical college guy, tries to avoid answering the question like always. What do they teach these kids at college? I asked him to be specific, and he said "Haha, well I need to work on my passing. I had the most turnovers in the Big East last year. I been working on my shot a lot too, I gotta get more consistent."
I then asked him what he thought about having an all american PG coming in for next year.
"I think it's great. We could use some depth at guard, and he'll definately push me to play at a higher level."
"Enough basketball," he told me. I was pretty shocked, and figured this was my only chance to have some time with him, so I just agreed.
He took me over to the corner of the locker room, where there was a TV and an Xbox. I knew where this was going. He threw in College Hoops 2k8, and it was on. He was of course Syracuse, and I was Georgetown (:D), let's just say I suck at video games. I got crushed by him, and he had 43 points and 14 assists himself.
"Ok, enough video games," he told me. This kid has some attention problems.
Well, how about girls? Does he have girls all over him?
"Surprisingly, no." He laughed, and said Eric Devendorf gets all the girls. "Damn whitey," and I cracked up.
He said college life is just as he imagined, and with his high school buddy Paul Harris rooming with him, every night was an experience.
We then got to talking about NBA, an what he'd like to do. "I wanna stay all 4 years. Win like, 3 championships, then I'll go on to the NBA and win a couple, or 5, there."
This kid's cocky.

Well folks, it seems like just yesterday that Syracuse reached the Elite 8 before a crushing loss to Duke. But now it's a new season, with new faces and plenty of old ones.
Orange fans accross the nation are saying this is their year, and with a preseason #1 ranking, who can blame them? Every player from last year is returning, along with a couple freshmen that will take over in several years as the next wave of great 'Cuse players. But the present is where it's at, as experts from ESPN, SI, hell even Playboy are talking about this young, exciting team.
Let's get right to it with the roster...
PG Jonny Flynn, Sophmore, 6'1'', 84 ovrStats: 20.5 PPG, 6.7 APG, 3.3 SPG, 4.4 TOPG
Freshman of the Year, Second team AA, First team All-BE
His attributes (last years in parentheses)
Ovr: 84 (79)
Close: 80 (78)
Med: 77 (76)
3: 80 (78)
FT: 80 (74)
Lay: 90 (86)
Off Aware: 80 (77)
Def. Aware: 71 (69)
Dunk: 67 (65)
Hand: 89 (87)
Pass: 86 (83)
On ball def: 87 (85)
Steal: 78 (76)
Speed: 94 (93)
Stamina: 99 (98)
Dur: 89 (87)
Clutch: 79 (76)
Vertical: 86 (83)
Shoot off drib: 75 (71)
Traffic: 74 (72)
Quick: 94 (92)
Hustle: 82 (80)
Cons: 64 (62)
Conf: 80 (78)
Potential: 91
The returning Freshman of the year has improved...a lot. He is the leader of this team on offense, and creates everywhere. He needs to improve on consistency in his shot and turnovers.
SG Eric Devendorf, Senior, 6'4'', 87 ovr, 81 3ptStats: 13.0 PPG, 3.4 APG, 43% 3pt
One of the lone seniors, he disappointed some last year, but was clutch with his threes and is one of the best shooters on the team. He is projected a lottery pick in the NBA, and with good reason.
SF Paul Harris, Junior, 6'5'', 86 ovrStats: 9.2 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 1.6 SPG
Projected as a top pick in the NBA, this kid is the most athletic on the kid. He's not much of a shooter, but can hit the open jumper. He's a game changer and a play maker, and a beast on the boards for his size.
PF Donte' Greene, Sophmore, 6'11'', 86 ovr, 84 3ptStats: 13.5 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.5 BPG, 38% 3pt
07/08 Freshman AA, 07/08 First team All-BE
For a near 7' guy, this dude can shoot lights out. Also predicted a #1 pick, he is a more athletic Dirk Nowitski, and can do anything you ask, especially if he plays SF and matches up against smaller players.
C Arinze Onuaku, Junior, 6'9'', 76 ovr, 76 blockStats: 6.8 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 1.8 BPG
A key role player last year, he can change the momentum of the game with a monster dunk or big block. He's not quick, but he's a brute force down low and is very underrated. Not a very good FT shooter (55%)
The Bench
SG Scoop Jardine, Sophmore, 6'1'', 77 ovr, 86 3pt
One of the best shooters on the team, inconsistent at times but has potential. Good defender. 6th man. Averaged 5.6 PPG last year.
PG Howie Crenshaw, Freshman, 6'1'', 77 ovr, 89 3pt
Best shooter on team as incoming freshman. #7 PG in his class, #18 overall, HS All American and VA Mr. Basketball. Could steal some minutes from Flynn.
SG Andy Rautins, Junior, 6'5'', 74 ovr, 88 3pt
Medical redshirted last year, tore his achilles playing for Canadian national team. Fantastic 3pt shooter but nobody knows how he'll do.
PF Rick Jackson, Sophmore, 6'9'', 74 ovr, 88 DREB
Best bench player big man, comes in for Greene or Onuaku. Very formidable defender and can score. Averaged 3.6 PPG and 3.2 RPG as a frosh.
C Romas Kisielius (RK), Freshman, 7', 71 ovr, 72 3pt
The Limber Lithuanian (215 lbs) is a mystery to most. The #13 PF of his class, they moved him over to play center. He is a surprisingly good shooter, like most Europeans.
PF Kristof Ongenaet, Senior, 71 ovr
C Sean Williams, Sophmore, 64 ovr, 7' Redshirt
----------------------------------------
Definately looks like a fantastic roster this year. This team has the potential to win the NC easily.
Schedule
Coach Boeheim has had some fun with this one, as he decided to take some warm vacations this year in California and Hawaii, with trips to the Hawaiin Invitational and a 4 game, 11 day trip to Cali that ends up against #9 UCLA. #2 Duke also wanted to show last year wasn't a fluke, as they want to play the #1 team...at Cameron, on CHRISTMAS DAY. No doubt one of the toughest, if not THE toughest schedules in the nation. He's also playing 3 teams from the Carolinas.
The Invitational kicks off the season, and includes teams such as Georgia, Texas Tech, Clemson, #9 UCLA, and #5 Michigan State. UCLA twice in a season anyone?
Alabama A&M *Hawaiin Invitational
@ San Jose St.
@ Cal Poly
@ #25 USC
@ #9 UCLA
UNC Asheville
South Carolina
Xavier
@ #2 Duke *Christmas day

Ok, here's the dillio. idk if I wanna continue this, I know I'ma get burned and burned for it, but you can only play with your favorite team so many times. I'd rather quit now before I start a season than in the middle. I think I'm gonna do an SEC team, I know some may want to see a closed legacy, but like many of you know I don't really like them.
Probably will do Vandy or Arkansas, leaning towards the later. Look for presentation to be similar to the Arizona St one I had.

I know Flynn personally.
He loves video games , so my bet is that he plays this and not marchmadness.
I was an assistant of his in high school his junior and senior year.
Last time I saw him was after the Gtown win in Cuse. Next time I talk to him I will see if this is the bball game he plays . If so I will tell him to check out this site.
Also I doubt he will be around for junior year he already said if he has huge sophomore year and wil be a lottery pick he is gone. nbadraft.net has him the 15th pick for 2009 draft.

This kid's cocky.[/QUOTE]
