SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., maker of the "Grand Theft Auto" video game series, said Thursday that other companies are interested in buying it, but Take Two has not received any formal offers and is not negotiating a merger with anyone.

The company rejected a $2 billion buyout offer this week from Redwood City, Calif.-based Electronic Arts Inc.

Take-Two, which is based in New York, said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday that since EA issued a press release on Sunday expressing interest in the company, it has received other "informal indications of interest in a business combination."

Take-Two "has not engaged in any substantive discussions with any party (including EA) with respect to a business combination," the filing said.

The statement said that information was up-to-date as of Wednesday and the company does not plan to update shareholders on any merger discussions unless it is legally required to do so.

The filing was required ahead of Take-Two's annual meeting of shareholders on April 10.

A company executive said this week that Electronic Arts is undervaluing Take-Two and not factoring in the benefits of its recent turnaround efforts. Take-Two said it is open to discussions with EA but wants to wait until April 30, the day after the latest version of Grand Theft Auto hits store shelves.

Hopefully Sony.

And by Sony he meant Microsoft so they could get All Pro out to the masses, not the 2 people who own a PS3...

It wont be Sony. I dont think they are in a position right now to drop billions into another company. I only see MS.

I know i have read a few articles here and there that stated, MS wants to get back into the Sports business. Plus, they would be able to lock up GTA 5 and Bioshock 2 for the xbox. That would be great for them.

My first thought was .."Wouldn't EA be ****ed and take action against Microsoft..then I thought about it and realized that theres to much money on the x-box side of things...so if it is Microsoft I'm with it.

lol at the what the PS3 has comments.... the HD DVD format dying was the best thing ever to happen to yall... which is sad for a gaming system..

lol. How is the HD dying sad ?

My brother bought his for $130 and now it's dead. Big deal. People who followed it knew Blu-Ray was probably going to win. It doesn't make Sony better. It makes them lucky.

And who cares about the Sony having a Blu-Ray player ? It's the crappiest Blu-Ray player ever made. You can't do alot of things on it that you'd be able to do on other Blu-Ray players. So big deal.

And the fact that the PS3 uses Blu-Ray technology is still terrible because no one knows how to take advantage of it. It's hard for them to work with. And that won't change over night just because Blu-Ray won. lol.

Like someone said in an earlier post, "dependability" is the only thing the Ps3 has. And I could send my 360 back 50 times and I'd still prefer that over a PS3.

But Ps3 does have all the great titles.

Just kidding . . .

I just hope EA doesnt buy it,cuz they obvioulsy just want to do whatever they have to do to stop 2k from beating them. Even though All Pro only sold 700,000 copies,EA didnt want to take the chance. Look at NFL 2k when it first came out,it didnt sell near as much as Madden, but over the years that changed big time, especially with 2k5. 2k outsold EA on xbox and that scared EA into buying the license and thats why they extended the license and are now trying everything they can to make sure All Pro is no more.

What a bunch of f-ing pansies!!!!
