:D
I need to 2 more positives to FINALLY get back up to a 70% rating. Sheesh. The last week I've had nothing but positives/neutrals, and still at 69%. I ran the math this morning, and I'm 178/255. That's 69.8%. Another positive puts me at 179/256, or 69.9%, and the second one finally puts me over the top at 180/257 - almost exactly 70%.
Side note: everyone is hung up on percentages around here, but did it ever occur to some of you guys to pay attention to the number of unique people played?
178 people thought I was okay, and 77 did not. Faced with looking at it that way, would you still think I was cheese vs. seeing a 69%? Just a thought.

I completely agree. I was about to post about how my rating is BS. I'm at 68% right now. The reason is because I usually play guys with losing records (I'm not good at this game and I like to win when I play). The only problem is that when I win I always get a negative or neutral when I'm playing fair.
Even Don v White trash or whoever he is refused to play me b/c of my rating (he is a 73%). Its starting to **** me off.

Very few ratings are not an indication of the player I would say one in 1000 maybe.
numbski is a good player and doesnt glitch and his rating is not a good indication of his playstyle. But having said that I have heard this story 100 times and it always turns out the guy is a complete jack *** and is rated poorly for a reason. Jay Deisel now Dr Pain XXXX is one of these people that would come to the forum say ratings are a joke and he just gets negs for no reason and because of sore losers. Then I played him and whats the first thing he does? Lines up in goal line to shoot the gap on an extra point try. I bout died laughing.
My point?
Numbski is legit in his play and got rated bad from quiting. LankyLegs is another that has a bad rating just from playing quick matches but plays a fair game. Other than those two everyone else can stay the hell off this thread with their claims of unfair ratings.
Thanks and have a nice day

I'll be honest, I have tons of quits, and in fact, I would say the majority of those came off quits. Since the reset I have 33 quits, and all but 2 of those were because I was facing total garbage, one was against Gunther here and the other was against hibachiii.
So 77-31: 44. Those other 44 are either because I won (happens very frequently, sadly), or came on quits before the reset. Several prior to the rest were because I went through a very lousy funk ( there's a thread around here someplace documenting that one).
That's not what I started this thread for though! :P
Two people, step right up. :) I need two unique positives. Anyone around here I haven't played yet that minds playing legit for an hour and not rating me down?

the rating never goes away just the ranking and win loss record.
even if there is a 2k9 your rating will carry over.
Atleast it does on the other 2k sports games.

This is why I like the PS3. Way less kids on. Most mature adults will leave a positive feedback even upon losing a game as long as you played fair. With 360, there are just way too many kids. I noticed the kids are the ones that have a hard time giving credit where it is due after a loss. My feedback is @ 92% and that's with a good wins to losses ratio.

So how you doing with getting that 70%???? Probably not to good considering I got to give you a negitive today....You don't quit league games, I don't care if you were losing 21-7....I was losing by almost the same identical score to intensiD earlier today, but I didn't run off and quit. I stayed in their and made comeback in the 4th qtr to win the game.
I will say this...You are not cheese.....BUT...you are one of the biggest babies I've seen on this game, and well deserving of that 65% feedback

Maybe you could learn from your losses and take them like a man....You seriously act like a 8 year old when playing. I don't know if you are new to leagues, or not...but you don't quit league games....Go ahead and quit all the lobby games you want....but when you sign up for a league, you play your scheduled games and you take your an@l rapings like a man.

since anything else I do is considered being a poor sport.?
Lets clear this up real quick.... i don't recall who it was that you had quit/gave up on earlier....but when you come out and just down the ball every possession to start the third qtr, people will call you a poor sport. When you drop back with your QB and then take a dive with him every down, that is considered a poor sport.
Here you go...read up on it a bit

Whatever. You got your precious win. Like it and leave me alone. Just because you don't get the chance to run up the score with your easy-win squad doesn't make me the poor sport. Did I come ok here and complain? Berate your play style? No - I concede victory, and rated you positive. Some people aren't happy if you gift wrap the win and hand it to them on a silver platter.

u never know what gone happen u may get 2 int return for td or something. like today I play im number1234 and 5 or somethin like that and I was down 21 to 10 at half and at the end of the game I won 31 to 30 and one of my td was a int return

easy-win squad
You know, I really wish everyone would put their best teams on the field......Sorry, but I don't need to rely on GOLD Corners to stop the pass....I think you are just upset that I was able to put up 21 pts on your SUPER D and it was only midway thru the 2nd qtr.

I simply WILL NOT field an offensively stacked squad just to be like everyone else and have last possession win. Sure, I could win that way, but then a brain-dead chimp could too. There isn't skill involved with that team build, which is why just about everyone uses it - it makes for an easy win.
Most common team build (because you don't have to think and you still win):
Gold WR (Usually Jerry Rice)
Gold HB (varies)
Silver WR (Usually Don Maynard)
Randall Cunningham
Silver TE (Usually Ben Coates)
Variation number 1 (which is what Freakish Mind had:
Gold HB (in this case, CAP Adrian Peterson)
Gold QB
Silver WR (Don Maynard)
Silver WR (Dante Lavelli)
Silver TE (Ben Coates)
Both of these team builds have the exact same gameplan - all offense, and totally ignore defense - you technically are putting defensive stars on the field, but they don't matter - because there won't be any punting. You'll put up 7 every time. Run deep outs out of an Ace pattern, and if by some fluke both of the outs AND the post route happen to get covered, then you dump it off to the HB. Run it up gut once in a while just to make for good looks (and in leagues a Gold HB will break a tackle guaranteed every single time regardless of who is around), and you'll win every time. No thought required.
So I'm supposed to sit here and worry about "class". Right. Okay - bye.

He's gonna win anways. He still has 6 players on D and you only have 2 (3?) players on offense. All he has to do is stop you once, and your game plan is done.

Numbski, I've played 12 games in the M o C so far and I've given up 215 pts, and that is with 5 bronze stars on Defense, along with a Bronze Kicker.
You on the other hand with 9 starts on defense 2 gold 2 silvers and 5 bronze, you have given up 218 pts in 11 games
Freaks team w/5 bronze defense 12 / 215 = 17.9 pts per game
Numbskis team with 9 defensive players 11 / 218 19.8 pts per game

Numbski. I inherited your team for the league. My first game I lost in the final 3 seconds because I threw a stupid pick instead of playing to the teams strength and taking it to OT and letting my D win. I shut TJ down to 13 points for the entire game. That team is so defensively stacked its crazy.

Perhaps on the ppg average, but the stat that's missing there is "points that came from the glitchy fade pattern and the cornerback let the WR run right by without moving" stat. Happens AT LEAST once per game. The good old "keep safety help over the top" is not only useless advice (usually doesn't help), but isn't reasonable when someone has 3 star receiving options and a gold halfback. You MUST bring a safety into the box.

to me it almost sound like u terrified of some of these legends. Maynard, Rice, Coates, and some other probably on offense. there is no broken routes on this game besides that hot route slant glitch so i totally disagree that these deep outs routes and fade routes are broken or cant be stop.
that team setup u mention is only a winning system cause everybody else has that system and trying to stop each other using generics and bronze legends. but if either of then come against someone who plays some defense like myself they cant handle it cause the plays that have worked for the past 15 games cant work against me.
and they shouldnt work on u too with your vicious defense setup but your predictability will be your defense downfall (actually it has been and it shows with your feedback and losing record) cause u cant make it up offensively. thats game i describe earlier where i won 31-30 he had Maynard and Rice and a TE(cant remember) and we both had Turnovers for TD but over all it a good defensive game on my part

Of give me a freaking break.
You're honestly telling me that the fade isn't busted. I should show you replay, after replay, after replay of CB's standing there doing absolutely NOTHING to cover it. They finally snap out of it after the WR is 5 yards past them and go "oh, maybe I should follow him". I can't have safety help over the top ALL the time either, especially vs a gold halfback. All they'll do is run dives on you until you remove the safety, and they watch the WR run right past you CB for a touchdown. That route *IS* busted. Show me proof of a CB successfully defending that route when NOT being manually controlled, and I'll listen, otherwise it's busted. I'm not saying the AI has to do it right all the time, I'm saying the AI MUST have the capacity to do it AT ALL, and as of right now, that's not what I'm seeing.
Coates catches the ball with defenders draped all over him consistently. Someone can build a game around posts and corners to him all game, ignore the rest of the offense, and be successful, manually covered or not. Combine him with a pair of Route Gods...
Why am I bothering to defend myself here? I'm right. Period.

we have two different styles of defense and with my defensive strategy im not worried about that GOLD RB cause my run defense is ON POINT now since i have generic CB if i run a cover 4 usually i just back them up once and that fade route is defended cause i bring pressure on the QB so he dont have a lot of time to throw that ball.
and i play on my MLB and that TE Mr. Coates is well taking care of and any TE as well except in the gold category. Ditka and mackey and the other TE gold boys are the toughest to cover but i can still hold my own.

All I can say is get off your *** and start playing defense instead of using the D-Line. You wanna drop a safety down in the box, then take control of him and as soon as you know it's not a run, get that safety back to his zone.
Also, you are right, that one stat there is missing about the glitchy fade pattern....you know why, it's because I'm out there working my butt off covering it myself, while you sit on the D-Line and just expect your GOLDS to lock everything down for you.
I'm not sure if you plan on playing me for our 2nd game in the league, but just for the sake of argument, I'll dumb down my offense for you, I'll run with my generic back, and drop 2 out of the 3 receiving threats and my offense will consist of a silver QB and 1 Silver receiver.

Say WHAT???
I *never* control a d-lineman. Always using a linebacker, usually Studwell. Try again.
You don't have to dumb anything down. You chose that team, go ahead and use it. I don't care. If it turns into a track meet and you win by 60 because my secondary won't do squat, so be it. I'll go watch tv or something until you finish. No big deal.
And what do you want me to do, sit on a cornerback and control them? PLEASE. That has to be the single most braindead position to pick for manual coverage. Don't give me that. The stupid fade route where my CB stands there and goes "duh...maybe I should follow him", is not a reason for me to go control the CB. You have a gold HB in that league. He's going to break a ton of tackles, so I have to focus on him. That means you get to throw the deep ball all day against me because I have to over-compensate for him. My other option is to cover your receivers and your halfback is going to tear me to shreds. There is no stopping it. Heck, I can't even be an effective speed bump. But hey, you chose that team, you get to use it. Go run up the score and have fun doing it. I'll just make sure I have time to sit there and be mindless and have something else to do to keep me occupied while I make sure not to take any delay of game penalties.
After all, I'm being a poor sport to concede that you have the better team and that I'm not going to be able to win.

I think this is the perfect place to ask if controlling the d-line is cheese. I don't think it is, as long as you know what you are doing, just controlling that guy to only stand there because you can't get past a guy, but your coverage skills are horrible is cheese. But if you are trying to get to the quarterback, i see it as no difference to using a blitzing LB or S.

I just want to make this clear.....about 90% of the things you "WHINE" about probably take place on the wide part of the field "outs, fades, Corners" Yet you play MLB.......Just a thought, but maybe you need to start manually protecting the wide part of the field and let the computer take over the middle of the field for you.
You have never heard me in here whining about not being able to stop those plays. I laugh at people who can't stop them. I laugh at one of the new rules in one of my leagues about people overusing outs....Let them, PLEASE.....I love manually picking them off. Same with the hot corner route, go ahead and use it, Sure it will be successful some of the time, but I'll pick it off or bat it down more then not.

June 16th, 2008, 08:57 AM
The deep out I don't mind. It's the TE over the middle that becomes somewhat invincible. Corners to the TE for the same reason, manually covered or not. The fade route I've explained, the CB just stands there and lets them go by, be it man coverage or deep zone. Seen it time and again. I can't be in two places at once. The biggest threat you have on the field is your HB. Trust the AI to cover him? Pffft. That's a joke. The AI will open the flood gates and escort him to the endzone. I have to be able to trust *someone*, and I will generally take my chances with the db's. At least WR's don't tend to break too many tackles. If they do what they're told, I can usually minimize the damage. It's when they don't do what they're told is when I "whine". I tell someone to cover a WR, then at least pretend to follow closely THEN let the WR catch the ball. Don't just stand there. If the CPU would at least pretend to care then maybe I'd shut up.
Anyway - point's been made. You went and dug up this thread from months ago because you feel I deserve my rating. You are welcome to that opinion. I disagree, and I'm entitled to that. I did nothing disrespectful to you. I simply said "This game's been decided, no point in continuing.", quit, rated you positive.
You proceed to come on here, dig up an old thread, and tell the world that I deserve the lot I'm given. Fine. You've made your point. Let it die.

i think the charged up move is okay, because if you see you controlling that dline, then i know more or less what is coming, but what i have found out, is that human controlled dlinemen tend to be easier to run against. i think the basis of this thread is that you have to concede something to stop something else. if you wanna stop the run you have to be able to control the inside linebackers, but to stop the passing game you need to at least be able to outside linebacker, of not the safety to the wide side, then you have this question, do you follow the play, or just freelance potentially leaving a huge gap in the defense??? if you listen to everybody on here, they can control all 11 guys at the same time, and they never give up a big play at all.

I will say this...You are not cheese.....BUT...you are one of the biggest babies I've seen on this game, and well deserving of that 65% feedback
yeah freak u not alone, he quit on me also in a league game, but check this out he waits until i'm about 2 score the go ahead TD to win tha game. then he hops on the forums saying he quit on me cause i was throwing into coverage. LMAO
thing is though if i was doing that all game why didn't he quit when it was happening all game(as he puts it), no he waits until i'm about to win the game.
