play to your runner's strengths. if you got a finesse runner, spin around them, juke them, and learn when to use ur speed burst to get you out of trouble. if you got a power back just lower your shoulder and plow through. also look if they have any 2nd level charge moves and use those more often.

if all that's too complicated for ya (it is for me), just hike and then do nothing, the computer will take over and you will look good

dont listen to amid :rotfl: if you let ur running back run by himself he will get crushed because the computer will run to the defenders

true..Yea for some reason when people let the CPU run for them the CPU run to the defenders..And if you let the CPU run for you..u suck..Also pick plays that uses your RB's strengths...

Get Barry Sanders and he will do the work for you.
I do use him though because I stink at running the ball.

Consider getting into practice mode and run your favorite runs about 10X each to see where the blocks line up. Learn to see when you have the advantage for a particular run (I.E. The edge on stretch plays, and a hole for inside runs.) In game, mix up runs and don't get predictable. Don't always run towards the fullback, and don't always run the same kind of blocking schemes.
This is what has unleashed my run game personally. I used to get real repetitive with the blocking schemes and defenders figured it out. A lot of players run "gap right or left" to the open side of the field or strong side of your formation. Be aware of that. Line up with an obvious strong side and stretch it to the weak side. You'd be surprised how much space you get when mixing it up! If you use a gold RB.. try to use the best move for the situation. For example, when I use Emmitt, I still use finesse moves in the open field if the situation permits. Don't be close-minded and only use the RB's favorite move. Put yourself in situations to use that move, but if it's not there, consider doing the best thing for that situation. Let's say I have a gang tackle coming up on me... I could either ram through a guy and pull the next guy for 3 yards which isn't a bad result BUT if I see a situation where I can spin or juke by one and possibly streak by another go for it! Even if it isn't your RB's explicit strength. This is tougher to pull off with lower tier RB's, but Golds get it done all the way around.

That is sad that you can allow the computer to do your work. vegas96 lets the comp run for him also. What challenge or fun is it to let the computer do everything?

my bronze/generic RBs would be very ineffective if i did... just messing with the "lowly noobs" hitman. doesn't surprise me about vegas though.
