i keep hearing talk that 2k9 has been in development for months now, but still i havnt heard anything official. BL seems to say that there is going to be a APF2k9 "but could be cancled at anytime". whatever that means. I can only think of a few reasons as to why we havnt heard anything or seen anything yet.

1. 2k is still confused on how they want to improve the game and find a better release date. May not be released till fall.

2. Take-Two may not be funding the game since they are considering to hear offers from EA on a possible buy-out after the release of GTA IV.

3. they are really going to extremes this time to keep it under wraps. Remember what EA tried to do last year and the years before.

4. They are using the Unreal engine that Take-two has signed a license agreement with and they are taking a while to implement it into the game, so it looks right. If they are using the Unreal engine im sure they really will go to lengths of covering that info up untill just a month before release, cause if they are you know EA will go to extremes to buy out take-two to protect its flagship "Madden".

supposidly Blue Lightning is a forum moderator that actually is a 2k employee unlike the other moderators. i dont know for sure cause i question most of the moderators on here with their false innacurate info, but supposidly BL is supposed to be a legit 2k employee. this doesnt mean that he has direct contact with the developers, or maybe he does, i have no idea, but he supposidly said 2k9 was in development but "could be cancled at anytime". dont qoute me, just passin the info.

I think its the EA thing stealing ****, they stole abilities, they started getting legends names in their games and got what they called gang tackling all in the same year that APF 2k8 was coming out.

AREA 51 type stuff.

oh yea, i just thought of another reason. They dont wanna take any attention away from the release of GTA IV. Im actually not expecting any APF info, if there is any, untill the begginging of May. i would be patient if I were you guys. sit back and play some other games for a while.

2K8 wasn't confirmed until almost right before it's release, as you might recall...

Man, I hope not. At this point, if they haven't seen all of the areas needed for improvement, then I'd suggest they don't release it.

All I know is, I'm getting hooked on 2K5 again... so maybe 2K should be thinking about going back towards rather than just going into left field with a bunch of strange stuff like 2K8 had.

I continue to beg the question... why try to reinvent the wheel when you already created the greatest football game of all time?

I haven't seen him say 2k9 was in development. I just seen him say it was not canceled. And putting those two together I have come to a hypothetical conclusion. A game that is not in development cannot be canceled and my speculative conclusion at this point is the game is not even in development. People say and think it is, but my question is who did you talk to that gave your that information? 2k is always tight lipped about what they are doing in a sorta brash way. They tell you the games they know for sure they are going to release, other games they are not sure they are going to release they do like they are doing now, they say nothing about them. My hunch at this point is what you are playing right now is gonna have to serve as your 2k9.

Well valdarez has said he submitted our questions to the people at 2k so maybe we can get some answers and new info.

And that's my question. Which people? If it wasn't Greg or Jeff Thomas or any of the guys that work on the game then we got a problem because until one of them says the game is in development we either have to suspend judgment and wait in mystery or we have to guess that the game is gonna come out or we guess that it is not going to come out. Nothing wrong with guessing as long as your guessing has some proper bases to make it a good hypothetical guess.

We had 2k8 early because it was the return of the game.
Putting up 2k9 this early would mean blowing up the board with PRE 2k9 issues and more than likely 2k8 issues.

Here is a page around this time last year and take a look.

http://www.2ksports.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=77&page=551&order=desc

I say again what I said then. Just sit back and wait. That really is all we can do.

As for the stealing I'll say this...
Some of the things are just common to the game of football and should not be considered stealing. Example: Gang Tackling.

If 2k had put in that stupid cone that Madden did then it would be considered a steal, because there is no cone naturally in the game.

There are some things I wish 2k would put in their game that Madden has.
Again, it wouldn't be a steal because it is a natural part of the game.
One of those being the option on man coverage to switch off or follow.

lol. I really doubt they are still trying to figure out how to improve the game. They had a list of ideas right after 2k8's release. And if that is an issue, then this game won't be worth waiting for at all.

A lower price-point and a release date may be an issue. But that's not why there isn't any info.

And like someone said earlier, 2k8 was announced in January. But that's only because it was 2k returning to the football genre.

I still think it's pretty early to release anything. If you think about it, Madden 09 or NCAA 09 have no info about it. Especially NCAA, a game that's released in mid-July.

An official word from 2k would be nice. But I'm not holding my breathe.

I've said all along that I'm skeptical about 2k9. But Tubo and others always refer me to their website to see some response for myself. I'm sorry, but I'll wait for something official. I'm not saying 2k9 won't be released. But I'm not going to get all happy over an unofficial response.

Let's remember that 2k is terrible at marketing and releasing info.

But if nothing's mentioned by the end of April then I would start calling it a day for APF. Unless they plan on releasing it much much later.

ok i worded myself wrong, it wasn't stolen.

seriously how long did it take madden to finally put in gang tackling and look how it looks still predetermined animations nothing dynamic about it and horribly implemented, rushed feature because a non known game was having it in. Either way abilities came out of nowhere for madden, those developers are full of ****.

I really doubt that they are using the Unreal engine. While it's a great engine, I don't think it would translate well into a sports football game. Plus, it would take around a year just to get used to using the engine, then more time to get it properly integrated into a football game. And, on top of that, using a licensed engine wouldn't do much to help keep the price of the game down, if that's what they intend to do.

My only contention is that Madden '09 was already at least announced like a month or two ago (End of January I believe).

We see some games announced like years before they ever hit like Too Human (which is just as strange to me as not announcing in a timely manner), and I'm just like... dang, can't 2K just say yes or no, officially? Didn't they officially announce that there wouldn't be Choops 2k9? And APF outsold Choops on the new gen consoles. This makes no sense to me.

Just saying yes or no isn't going to leak anything, it's just letting your fans know you're coming back (or not), so I can't see the purpose of not saying anything. Maybe they think it's going to be a more suspenseful treat for us. But quite frankly I think it's just annoying to most fans. I'd like to know earlier than a week before release (lol) so if the game isn't coming I can go ahead and buy an Xport now and update 2K5 (I'm getting hooked again).

The only reason this game has not be talked about is b/c of madden stealing ideas..This happened last year also..I'm pretty sure that since 2k only had 6months to make 2k8..Then I think they are goin gto keep it on the dl until about June and then they will have screenshots and trailers..But unitl keep playing 2k8..lol..
