With this being KC's GM Dayton Moore first full year at the helm he has made some moves, some having worked out, some not so much, others we will see. The key is he is willing to do what Mr.Baird would not. Along with the new GM the Royals also are starting the Season with a New Manager after the Buddy Bell disaster they decied to go overseas to the Japan Pacific League and signed Trey Hillman who was atleast mentioned when the Yankees were looking into filling Joe Torre's absence. Time will only tell if he can make a difference.

Despite the Mitchell Report the Royals are excited to get the Season going and see how Jose Guillen fits into the picture. They are hoping he can bring some of the power he has shown throughout his Career to KC. Where to say the least has been a major problem; one of many.

The Royals did see some promise last year when they seen some of their best pitching in years both in the Starting Rotation and in the Bullpen. Gill Meche had a great season last year even though he often received little run support. Also a suprise Starter was Brain Bannister who made a run for ROTY last season. As for the Bullpen one of KC's strong points last Season where Joey Peralta had another good Year alot Dotel (Before he was traded) and David Riske (No longer with the Team). Maybe the biggest suprise of all was the emergance of Closer Joakim Soria who had a stellar year. Royals did lose some of that Bullpen help but replaced it with some overseas help with Chin-hui Tsao & Yasuhiko Yabuta comming to KC. They also have given some Vetrans a shot at making the Team (H.Nomo & M.Maroth). It all depends on how they are evaluated after Spring Training.
The Royals have also made some other moves on the Offensive side other that Carlos Guillen. Signing Catcher Miguel Olivo who will share time with John Buck at Ctahcer. they also Signed Short Stops Alberto Callaspo & Angel Sanchez who are both expected to start in the Minors but may suprise some and make the Team as a backup to T.Pena or E.German. So you will want to follow these guys in Spring Training.

There have been some rumors floating around KC about some players the Royals may sign and some who may be on their way out of town. Royals seem interested in Trading Second Basemen Mark Grudzielanek and also Utility Guy Ross Gload. As for a player who GM Dayton Moore has show interest in is Sammy Sosa to try and continue to bring some Power to KC where they ranked last in the AL. Rumor has it that the two sides are very close to a Deal and by Spring Training Sammy could be a Royal. We will have to wait and see if there is any truth to this but you would assume they might want to get this done by String Training.
