First off I want to say thank you for working on a patch to fix this awfully choppy and messy framerate.
Please take your time and dont RUSH it out until you test it under various stadium and lighting settings please. Because even with the logging out of your profile temporary fix, it does really smooth out the framerate but there's still areas and instances of that choppiness or screen hitching/hiccupping...mostly noticeable when throwing across the diamond. And the framerate seems to also vary in different stadiums
Also I would like to add that this game is tremendous FUN when running smooth and really closes the gap with the fantastic MLB the Show game. Can you please also fix a few other things in the patch to make this game amazing:
1- Please either tone down the over the top bat crack sounds OR more importantly, increase the volume on the glove sounds in the field. The game feels extremely empty or missing that audio of the players fielding hard shots and throws to first base. It makes the game feel very incomplete and lacking polish in the field.
Its very satisfying to move your fielder in position to make a back handed stab on a line drive or a hard hit ball and hear the popping of the ball in the mitt....Also when a fielder fires the ball to 1st base, you should hear that loud snap of the ball hitting the mitt....These are ball park sounds that make the game feel very polished and take you out to the park.
Fielding is lacking these sounds which would make the game feel much better. I think you have the audio files in there cause I can faintly hear them at times on certain plays...even after I turn the Sound FX all the way up....just increase the volume of these glove sounds in the field to match those of the loud bat and catchers mitt sounds and you'll be alright!
Also, the game doesnt allow our fielder to further throw the ball around after an outfielder throws it back into the infield. The game automatically cuts back to the pitcher/batter interface too quickly at times when I want to just throw the ball around a bit more in the infield...give us that freedom please.
Im sure both of these can be easily adjusted in this new patch that fixes the framerate...please consider it.
Great game otherwise

Nice post... Although I'm starting to enjoy the game as well, there is definitely something that feels empty on the field and I think you've nailed part of the reason why. What I would also like to see is some OUUMPPHH from the umpires as well, like I wanna hear that STRRRRRIIKKEE 3 you're out!

March 7th, 2008, 07:30 AM
Thanks MosX4...maybe if enough of us agree here in this thread, they may simply add it to the patch. I dont think it would be difficult because i do faintly hear the glove sounds but their so low and out of proportion with the bat sounds that it makes the game feel very empty in the field....the pop or snap of a ball hitting the glove out in the field is a very satisfying feeling for a fielder and its missing.
When you goto a ball game in real life, you can actually hear these things even way up in the bleachers...and these are the sounds of baseball. They just need to increase the audio levels on the fielding sounds so they can be heard better in the game...i think

Good point... I think part of the reason behind the old EA baseball games being so much fun... their umpires were quite animated in their calls on the field.

they didnt change the hitting sounds at all!!! they just added a few new ones to add to the crappy non-baseball sounds they had.....i admit i play back to back to back games but its just dissapointing about how much ben brinkman lied to sell this game, he made it seem like the next mvp which this my friends is far from!

guys lets be productive here...my granny always used to say, "You catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar!"
Talk like this Coquistador will only get this thread locked and ignored. Lets be productive and offer to give constructive suggestions that they might be able to add to a patch with little extra resources and workloads.
I agree about the umps as well as the fielding glove sounds.....perhaps also tone down those over exaggerated bat cracking sounds....they seem to be just a little over the top....but at least not as bad as they USED to be.
Ill be a happy camper if they smoothen out the gameplay and make it more fluid with these suggestions added.
Also this bothers me a little bit too...Also, the game doesnt allow our fielder to further throw the ball around after an outfielder throws it back into the infield. The game automatically cuts back to the pitcher/batter interface too quickly at times when I want to just throw the ball around a bit more in the infield...give us that freedom please. I would like a little more time and freedom to decide when to actually end the PLAY.
Finally, is there a way to leave the INSIDE PITCH info on the screen just a little longer by holding or pressing one of the buttons?...I love the concept but I find that I simply dont have enough time in between pitches to observe the CPU's inside pitch data to utilize it! Can I hold or press something to hold it up there just a littl longer until I release the button to make it disappear and start the pitch?...if not can you tweak this a bit too to allow that?
what do you think guys about these suggestions?
eliLB55
March 7th, 2008, 07:56 AM
personally, im on board with all your suggestions. however, i would be more than satisfied if this patch only fixed the horrible online lag and the slight choppiness of gameplay, thats my honest opinion.

I couldn't put my finger on it, but I think some audio while fielding would help the realism. Plus, the umpires, which I did notice, yes it would be nice to have them more lively.

Every time when I let the pregame introduction ride out to hear the commentary, there is an abrupt transition to the start of the game. Whatever the pregame announcers are saying is cutoff. There are other abrupt transitions during the game too. I hope they fix this.

I want the patch to fix two things....framerate and HR view. Then I'm happy.....I also wish I could manually change cutscenes. For example, I wish that the blimpview was my default inning change view (after 3rd outs)........ideas???

March 7th, 2008, 08:37 AM
I agree but I think the patch can easily add the fielding sounds and ump cries with not much impact to the overall timeframe of the patch....but im excited to see a patch in the works and am proud that 2K observes and listens to the voice of it's customers!
Brinkman said this was a game close to the MVP classic of past and I have to agree...once patched with fluid gameplay and hopefully the nice additions/tweaks mentioned hear and we'll have MORE than what Brinkman promised us...this is potentially a GREAT GAME!
I cant wait!

I have no framerate issues. What system? It's fine on 360. Not perfect, but not worth a patch.
maverjoe
March 7th, 2008, 09:33 AM
Forget the framerate. I can live with that.
What needs to be addressed in a patch is this issue with the franchise mode. You can't do a franchise on the 360 with the Padres. It won't let you promote/demote players, which is vital.
2k must address this to make a complete game!

I almost forgot one last BIG request for the PATCH...could you guys also give the Pitching team the option to set all those different camera angles that the Batter can please. When Im at bat, I like the WIDE ZOOM angle with a 10% or so ZOOM. I would like to also use this camera angle when Pitching too. This should be a simple thing to add.
Just Unlock ALL camera angles for BOTH PITCHERS and BATTERS

Hey you guys,I have been a long time customer of 2k since espn basketball and football and have a few issues with the game.I recently picked up MLB 2k8 for xbox 360 thinking it would be a great continuation of the MLB Series but on online play I have Experinced a Few MAJOR problems...
-I know you guys spent a long time developing a new pitching system but not many people can use it effectivley online.Along with this I have a Younger brother who I am guardian to and unfortunatley he does no have a thumb on his right hand....I say this becuase when you dont allow people to change the VIP settings on how you pitch and bat and throw to the bases, some people like my younger brother can't play.ALso it was advertised that you could change your VIP settings like all previous years. Please put it in to where ALL OF YOUR VIP SETTINGS CAN BE CHANGED FOR RANKED GAMES.
-I also understand you have many servers but there is a large problem with MLB 2k8 game servers to where the lag make things near impossible not only to pitch but also to hit a fastball. Pitches do come much faster in online and i put the same settings and the game play was much smoother. BEcause most of us cannot move our fingers at light speed to hit a 90 mph fastball, PLEASE CORRECT THE LAG AND CUT DOWN THE GAME SPEED.
I know there are other problems but this is all I have experinced in the last 2 hours of playing it.IF AN ADMIN OR SOMEONE WOULD PLEASE READ THIS AND TELL ME WHEN AN UPDATE WILL HAPPEN ON 2k OR XBL(Gamer tag same as user name)I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.I ALSO WOULD LIKE IT IF OTHER PEOPLE WOULD ADD ON OTHER PROBLEMS THE HAVE EXPERIENCED AND SHARE THEIR OPINIONS ON THIS SUBJECT.

I guarantee the following issues have been brought up, but here is my master list of necessary fixes as it stands right now-
1- Frame rate. Duh. I cannot believe this game was even shipped like this. Its as if the quality assurance department at 2K took the month off.
2- Batters eye. What purpose does it serve as of right now? Because as of the day the game launched, its just a useless white dot in the batter's box. I have not seen this feature work properly yet.
3- Errors. Whats with all the jogging to the ball by outfielders only either watch them drop the ball or collide with another outfielder? I know to call every other fielder off with "X", but the rate of probability for a collision is insane. Why are 80% of throws to first base never "on target"? Always makes me nervous trying to throw runners out, even when I throw it softer to first. Too many "mishandles" of the ball too, especially for the pros. I know these specifically can be adjusted, but it would be nice to smooth over some of the basic fielding operations anyways.
4- Online VIP settings. If I am playing a friend, why is it unavailable to choose how to pitch or bat? What if both players despise the new controls and MUCH prefer the old ones? If it is a player match as opposed to a ranked match, then it absolutely SHOULD NOT matter. I found this to be THE most annoying change so far in this years release.
Thats my gripe for the day. Any additions to the list are welcome. This game has HUGE potential, and it would be nice to see them get it right, even if it means patching it up.

The Batter's Eye still works - tho' unlike last year you need to keep White Dot active right thru pitch release - tougher to use, but probably better than the "Magic Guess Reveal" of last year's
Really it boils down to 2 Things -
Fix the Framerate
Fix the Lag
(and I guess if you're a Padres fan - fix the franchise)

I am fairly dissapointed this year in MLB 2K8. I haven't played the game that much because some things are unbearable to me right now and I will list them below. I'm sure there are some other things that need to be patched as well but I am only listing what I saw personally. I would appreciate it if 2K patched these problems because right now I feel like I have been ripped off for buying this game at the moment...Hopefully these things can be fixed with a patch.
#1
Framerate of the fielding cam is very sluggish. Not good for presentation (online and offline)
#2
Overall lag on cutscenes is very bad. (online and offline)
#3
Online Only: The lag is making this game unbearable to play online while PTICHING AND BATTING. What I mean by that is when your pitching you have to anticipate releasing your right stick well before you normally do when your offline...the same goes for batting; Its almost impossible for me to hit the ball because I have to take my step and swing before the pitcher releases the ball...(how am I suppose to see if its a good pitch to swing at or not if I have to swing pretty much before the ball is thrown?) This is very very frustrating and has made me not want to play online at all.
#4
Is it just me or is the field grass very ugly? I could have sworn it was more realistic looking in MLB 2K7. (This is not a performance problem so I am not that concerned with it but dang is it ugly)
turbanator787
March 8th, 2008, 06:09 PM

why so you can switch to classic batting mash A and have an unfair advantage on someone playing the game like the devolpers designed? they could maybe do that on player games and get away with it but doing it to ranked games is just a terrible idea.

1. online latency problems.

OK 2K Patch team...to recap what the PATCH should include:
-Obviously, first and foremost, fix the Framerate lag. Even with the log out of profile band aid solution, I still see chuggier framerates in the MLB stadiums in comparison to the minor league ballparks. This should be running 60fps at all times...even if you have to take some of the detail of those 3d fans lets do it
-Add or increase the volume for the fielding sounds like the snap and pop of the ball hitting the glove...this stuff makes the game feel more complete
-A wierd Glitch/Bug - the game will constantly freeze everytime when you go into 2K Player Beats and choose the Padres or Phillies when trying to assign walk up music and such
-Make all the camera angles AVAILABLE when PITCHING that are available when BATTING. Some people like myself would love to also view the game when pitching from a WIDE ZOOM perspective...thanks!
-dont have the game END the PLAY so quickly after the outfielder throws the ball in...allow us some time to be able to throw the ball around the infield if we want to
Did I miss anything people?

Every time a ball is hit into the gap for a double/ potential triple, both the second baseman and the short stop go out as cut off men.
-The first baseman than sprints over to cover second base, which makes no sense.

I would think someone would know that if a ball is hit in the gap for a potential triple, that the second baseman and shortstop would go out for a double-cut and the first baseman covers second because there is obviously not going to be anyone going to first. They do this because if the second baseman gets a bad hop on the throw, then the shortstop is behind him who will get a good hop on it. i figured most everyone who has played baseball or even watched it would know

Ok, there is no need for you to mention your brother with one thumb. If he did have a thumb he still could not hit the A button. I feel bad for him, but there are many users who want a competitive game, and 2K brought us a tougher game to player. Play the game get good.
I would be ashamed of 2k if they allowed players to switch the game controls during a ranked game. Video games, like real sports, should not give advanatges to certain sides. The controls are realistic, and very hard to do which makes the game fun and on a more level playing field. Mashing the a button takes no skill and im proud of 2k for not allowing you to change. Nicely done 2K:)
:thumbsdow However, the lag is a big problem. If the lag was taken out more people would like the new pitching controls. The lag messes the flow of the game. But what people forget is that everyone has to del with the lag, its not just you. If im playing you in a ranked, we both have to play with the lag. But 2K, you must fix the lag at some point.
Also, a serious flaw to this years game is the online league. The league works great on the xbox, but going on the computer and having fantasy drafts is what made me and my friends hooked on mlb 2k6 and 2k7. Its fun and very exciting to be able to come on the computer like a real GM and manage your team. 2K, you better add this. Having online leagues is what makes 2K overpower EA games and its competitors.
Overall the game is great. Baseball is america's pastime and for us 360 users its the only game we got. Be happy and instead of complaing on here go play, get good at, and have fun.
P.S. before dissing the new controls, play a couple of games, get used to it, have an open mind, and if you still hate it, then complain about. The games been out a week:confused: ...comon guys

I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned this annoyance.
Every time a ball is hit into the gap for a double/ potential triple, both the second baseman and the short stop go out as cut off men.
-The first baseman than sprints over to cover second base, which makes no sense.
Wow, have oyu ever played baseball or watched baseball ever!? If the ball is hit for a sure double, then the 1st baseman waits for the runner to pass and trails the runner to 2nd. The 2nd baseman and shortstop then go for a double cut. Ask other baseball players here. They should tell you the same thing.

wtf. haha. only time you will really see double cuts is at plays at the plate. a double in the gap rarely requires a double cut. and even on a double cut, players wont stand out holding hands. the second cut will virtually be standing on the infield dirt

Yup. Mine too. I got is yesterday from Gamefly and it's frozen up during Franchise about 7-8 times. It usually freezes right when it asks you if you "Want to Save Changes" to your Roster. Pretty egregious failure on 2K's part. Glad I only rented it.

I've frozen a number of times attempting to get to the '2k beats' section, automatically logging out after a game, loading a game during the pre-game intro and strangely, trying to open up a wild card.
Is this how 2k Games has decided to push their games out the door?
Oh, I hit an in the park HR last night against the Jays after Johnnie Mac froze at short, let the ball drop beside him and twitched like he was having a seizure trying to pick up the ball.
Online lags like crazy. Trades are ridiculous. 4th and 5th starters throw meatballs like Chef Boyardee. Anything else??
I just want to play baseball on my 360. This was the first and last 2k baseball game I'll ever buy.

obviously framerate and lag are huge. i've had my game freeze on numerous occasions while trying to save the vip profile. i love the new controls and stuff but hitting still just feels a bit off, i can't put my finger on it precisely but it just seems like too many balls up the middle. I also hit an inside the park homerun in wrigley because the ball got lost in the ivy (thats my only reasoning behind it, i'm thinking the ball glitched through the wall or something but nevertheless).
and does anyone play that many minor league games where we need all three minor leagues? i know they say you can help the player progression by playing but the difference between playing a major league game and the difference between playing a double A game is silly... i don't want to play that just to help my players progress faster... get a minigame or something (as long as it makes sense...). I'm all for having all 3 minor leagues represented but i don't want even have the option of playing a team who's best player is in the 40's...

I enjoy most of the game. The lag even offline is pretty damn annoying. I'm going to try the 'fix' of turning off my profile tonight. But like some of the above posters i have experienced some locking up several times. Once in a fairly epic game it froze going into the bottom of the 9th. WOW. Just wow. I have tried to play the next game in my franchise 3 times and it has frozen at some point in the first inning all three times. I'm willing to take the hit on my trade in at this point and just get something else or go back to Out of the park baseball.

Freezing is a HUGE problem. Dont know if that is patchable though. One I've noticed, kind of minor but should be easily fixed, is the home run distance. The distance displayed is completely random, whether it barely makes it over the fence or goes out of the yard it does not give an accurate estimation. This is important to anyone trying to collect cards because some hitter need to hit HR's of a particular distance to unlock.

Just like previous posters have said, the San Diego Padres franchise mode MUST be fixed. Not having the ability to call up/send down players is absolutely absurd. I for one, and I'm sure every Padres fan who owns the game can agree with me...we can't play Franchise mode, or at least not without making things miserable and more difficult in the process.

Every time iam at Miller Park can I cranka Home Run Bernie Our Mascot Slides down the slide his body vanishes then come back EX: you see him then you see yellow of the slide then part of his body.
LOL, I hope this guy was joking. 2K Don't worry about fixing the things that make the game unplayable, please make a patch to animate bernie going down the slide. And can we also get a patch to include the stadium cleaning crews?
Anyway, the real things that need to be fixed:
1) Framerate- makes game incredibly choppy. This is mostly a problem when fielding as the game hiccups as your running to the ball.
2) ONLINE DISCONNECTS - For me personally the whole reason I but this game is to play an online league. (This is one of the few things I give 2K props for, can someone explain to me how EA STILL doesn't have leagues in Madden? its like some sick joke....) I am sure 90% of people who buy this game play the majority online. Unfortunately the online mode is UNPLAYABLE. Since I have started my league I have tried to play about four games and EVERY one disconnects by the third inning claiming a network error has been encountered. I'm not sure if disconnects happen as often in the regular lobby but this needs to be fixed.
3) ONLINE LAG - Again this game is UNPLAYABLE online. When I first got the game I played a quick exhibition game offline to figure out the controls. I picked up on the new controls and think they were a great addition. Then I jump online and I thought I was crazy. My friend throws 9 straight meatballs right down the middle of the plate and I literally COULDN'T SWING THE BAT ONCE! there is so much lag you can't use the swing stick. I have to start my backswing before the pitcher even starts winding up which is ridiculous and makes it impossible to time any pitches or hit a fastball. The lag effects the pitching in the same manner. You have to release the stick early to compensate for the lag and end up throwing a bunch of meatballs. I realize there will be SOME lag online but Good God. Now I can't play the game online until this is fixed .(the whole reason I have it) THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO BE FIXED
Minor gripes just to whine about -
- Same exact voice over work from last year - 2K literally took all of Joe Morgan and John Millers voice overs from 2k7 and copied them right over to 2k8. It's so lame I keep laughing about it. (Every time theres a HR here comes John Miller with ".....And...... BYE BYE BABBBBBBBBBY!")
- For the last 4 years stadium announcer has mispronounced Pat Burrell's last name LOL
- Last years fielding camera/angle seemed better
- The commentary is either completely wrong or lags behind gameplay.
Ex. (you just hit 500 ft hr) "And that's a inside the park HR you dont see that too often!"
ex 2. (you hit deep foul) *10 seconds after it goes foul* "This one has a chance....... it could go......... and just foul!"
- The Music - Let's just take the theme song from the Drew Carey show from 10 years ago. That would make a great soundtrack!!

Aside from the online issues, I havent really encountered what you guys are mentioning so far.
Bugs/Glitches/Bad Game Designs I've found -
1) Occasionally, randomly, during a ballgame in Franchise Mode, the game will just end, as if it was the last out of the 9th. It has happened a couple times, the first time was the second inning, and I just got a hit, reached base and the game ended. It simmed the rest of the game, but gave no pitching stats. I exited out, and the game wasn't played. I had to start it over. Very weird.
2) I just finished my first season using the Braves, and during the offseason I was reorganizing my pitchers, I don't remember exactly when, call ups/send downs and seeing where I needed help. During that somewhere, Jo-Jo Reyes and Jair Jurrgens(Sp?) dissappeared from the call up/send down screen. JUST VANISHED. I could go into roster and see them, but I could not view them in call up/send down screen. Totally BS. I had to let the computer reorganize my entire franchise before they showed up again. So stupid.
3a) If I make a change to my pitching rotation during franchise mode, the next game played automatically will have the #1 pitcher pitching, instead of the next person in the rotation, effectively restarting my pitching rotation. I sub out my #4 starter for another guy to give him a day off, and the next game has me using my #1 pitcher NO MATTER WHAT. WTF? Please allow me to make rotation changes without forcing me to put a #4 starter in the #1 spot so the game will maintain the rotation order. If the #4 spot is up next in the rotation, that slot should pitch next, it should not start over from the #1 spot everytime a change is made to starters, or even relievers.
3b) I should be able to go and LOOK, JUST LOOK, at my pitching rotation without the game automatically resetting my pitching rotation schedule. I just wanted to check my stamina %s for next game, and it resets the pitching rotation. Christ...
(FOR BOTH 3a AND 3b I WAS SIMULATING GAMES AS THE GM/MANAGER NOT PLAYING THEM, SO I COULD NOT SIMPLY SELECT THE NEXT PITCHER. REGARDLESS THE GAME SHOULDNT DEFAULT TO THE #1 PITCHING SLOT EVERYTIME)
4) Unless I'm doing something wrong, throwing to the cutoff man is broken.
5) Batter's eye is effectively useless, and I don't currently use it.
6) Roster updates needed to be available for download since launch. I can understand you not putting it into the game at launch, but you should have realized that your rosters were incorrect after your launch date was set, and been able to provide a roster update by now. There have been many significant moves and none of them are reflected in the game. I would rather not go to mlb.com and manually change all teams rosters. Thanks.
7) Using the depth chart and line up cards between games during Franchise mode is so clunky. I should be able to make a sub at any position where it will not screw up my depth chart %'s. I should be able to use one universal line-up, and at option, set vs RHP and vs LHP lineups. I should not have to set depth chart %s for vs LHP/RHP and DH. Give me a break... I do not want to have to go and set 4 line-ups for a substitution so I can make sure the right guy will play for the next couple games.
If there are anymore I find I will post them.

March 10th, 2008, 08:33 AM
1. Framerate
2. Batters eye - Like above poster said, it's virtually useless.
3. Pitching effectiveness - Others have experienced this. When you first start pitching you can pitch to ANY effectiveness (first movement circle) whether it be real small or large (in between the 2 big white circles). However after about lets say 4-5 pitches, you have no choice but to do the first movement in the BIG circles as it doesn't let you keep doing small effectiveness. Not sure if this is working as intended or a bug.
4. Wall bug - Sometimes when a flyball is hit, it looks like it's going to be a HR...but there is no red arrow and the ball ends up getting stuck in the wall. The outfielders end up getting glitched at the wall trying to get the ball. The baserunners just keep on getting bases all the way to home plate and scoring, and the outfielders are glitching at the wall still trying to get the ball.
5. Online lag and gameplay

*There are texture dropouts and clipping issues that need addressed(player textures on face will be missing along with shoe textures), I also saw camera flashes through the outside of the wall at Yankee Stadium.
*I have had CPU controlled players just stand there after the tag at second. when I hit into a double play, without throwing the ball to first.

I agree with what you've all said about the mistakes of the game. I couldn't sleep the whole week prior to the release date of the game and I have to say that I am so dissapointed.
The lagging is so frustrating, the graphics suck (it looks like regular XBOX and not 360), when there is a pitcher change, the new pitcher appears on the mound and then you see him jogging down the field to come to pitch, the pitch speed is to quick and the settings can't be changed on the leagues, etc, etc..... I mean give me a break!!!
If these issues are not fixed buy the next update I would have to say that 2K has lost a customer that has almost every single game out there that they have sold.
Just a frustrated and dissapointed big fan of the game.

A few times after I get a hit and the runner is on, the game then goes to the 2K8 loading screen as if it were going to do a replay. However, immediately after this screen goes away, it goes to the base my runner is on with the runner sliding back with the defense person having ball in hand as if their was a pick off attempt, yet their was no screen that showed the pitcher on the mound or the animation for him attempting to pick me off.

This game freezes about 80 percent of the time. It doesn't matter if I'm online or off. It will freeze and then say my disc is unreadable. My 360 is less than a year old and plays my other games fine. I have been able to play five complete games since i bought it. What a waste of 65 ****** dollars!

March 10th, 2008, 08:40 PM
I got a few:
1.Game randomly freezing.
2. Issues w/outfield walls. Twice I've hit homers (they counted), had the ball hit off a wall behind the outfield and just come through the outfield wall like it was wasn't there.
3.Pitchers warping to cover first base.
Things that just annoy the hell out of me:
1.The fact I cant hit anything through the dam infield. Playing against the comp, every infielder becomes f'ing ozzie smith. Through 6 games (switching between pro and allstar) I played so far, my hitting stats are 12 singles, 13 doubles, a few triples and 11 hrs. It shouldnt be just as easy if not easier to hit a homers and extra base hits than singles.
2.Batters eye doesnt work, useless isnt touched and left in the middle.
3.Seems like 75% of the time a player pulls back from a bunt attempt the ball hits him.
4.Fielding pop-ups.

Well i've only had the game for a few days now but i did check out the Padres bug in the franchise and i didn't have a problem calling up and sending down players. I did have a problem with the SWB Yankees where i couldn't fix a lineup but i just let the com. do it then was able to go back in and fix it. I think the freezing is more a 360 issue. I had a 360 last year and 2k7 would freeze up with it and was actually the game i was playing when my 360 finally died and i had to send it in. Frankly, I'm apalled that 2K released this game in the state that it is in.
I'm surprised I have not seen too much mentioned about the Challenge-freeze bug. Everytime you try to accept a challenge in the lobby, the game freezes. Amazing.
Frame rate isses, have been discussed. They really need to be fixed.

The Padres franchise glitch is only in the XBOX 360 version. I'm not sure about the wii, but I think that doesn't matter because the wii franchise you can't even do a franchise beyond year 2....this is just ridiculous.

Compiled list;
-Padres need to be fixed in Franchise mode. (promote/demote bug.)
-CPU hardly ever steals. Even at 100 slider setting.
-If you adjust your rotation in any way franchise mode, it resets it to the top of the order, even if that guy is below 100% stanima for the next game.
-Rain outs arent re-scheduled. You just play the same gamer over again on the same day. same starters.
-Framerate issue.

I know you guys spent a long time developing a new pitching system but not many people can use it effectivley online.Along with this I have a Younger brother who I am guardian to and unfortunatley he does no have a thumb on his right hand....I say this becuase when you dont allow people to change the VIP settings on how you pitch and bat and throw to the bases, some people like my younger brother can't play.
TURBANATOR787
Ummmm...if your brother doesn't have a right thumb then he really can't play any video game except for those on Wii since all games on all other systems require you to use your right thumb since that's the side of the controller that the function buttons are on. Argument lost.

So who is going to file the class action lawsuit on this game. I mean there is clearly enough evidence that this product was knowingly defective and was sold to the public anyways. I am sure there are plenty of emails on 2Ks server on how they had to get this game out and show the revenue in order to maximize their takeover pricing and that 1Q08 revenue had to exceed expectations.
No doubt a crime has been committed and we are the victims with the "no returns" policies that are in place at retailers.

As far as I knew there was no distinction between contact and power hits. There is only distinciton between where you are aiming your hits. After you pull back you can push the stick to the left, foward, or right, and that will determine which direction you are hitting the ball.

Hey 2K development team, and Brinkman
Please dont forget to include the following in the patch:
Allow ALL cameras for PITCHING also. Alot of people may want to pitch from the Wide, WIDE ZOOM, and TIGHT cameras. I know I want to.
Increase the fielding glove sounds...their too low, like the pop of the glove when a fielder catches the ball
Add clickable boxscores for each game played in the calendar that we can see everyday!!
Add more CPU basestealing and Hit & Run
Fix the random Freezes and please make this game run buttery smooth in all stadiums at 60fps...please
thanks for listening...this could be a great game if you add these!!

A lot of the problems you discussed Darkfudge are things that can be changed with your slider settings. The patch has already been sent to Microsoft/Sony for approval so the other couple will not be in the upcoming patch. Please look at the announcement about when to expect your patch.

You have to hold it throughout the pitch. Sometimes is doesn't work but it does most of the time.

Did I miss anything people?
I'm playing a franchise season with the Reds, and when I bring in a relief pitcher, his appearance is defaulted to "Aryan" or something. The pitches are correct for him, though. Obviously this is very noticeable for Latino or black pitchers. If I go to the options screen and come back, it's fixed. It doesn't affect gameplay, but it's annoying and pretty obvious.
This isn't a bug fix, but it would be nice that once the ball clears the fence, you are given the distance it's traveled (like it does in the HR derby).

All they are fixing is the framerate and the padres roster issue. Thats it. Anything else will most likely remain as it is. Dont expect any other problems to be fixed once the framerate issue is solved they wont be putting anymore money into this game. Looks like another week before the patch comes out. best to wait for EA/2K baseball next year.

The request I have ( Add ALL the cameras to PITCHING view ) is such an easy request, it basically calls for some simply line coding that says, ALLOW ALL CAMERAS in both PITCHING and BATTING modes....it would take all but 10 minutes to code on a Sunday morning.
Which actually it might be even easier than that because if you think about it...you can set ANY camera mode when pitching when your playing 2 player games...so the option is already in there, they just need to enable it for single player vs CPU games!
YEAH BOY!!...lets do it 2k sports!

2K Sports...I know you can add these 2 things:
Add ALL cameras for PITCHING that are available for the BATTERS so we can pitch from camera angles like WIDE or WIDE ZOOM or OFFSET, ect
And please increase the FIELDING sounds like the 'pop' of the fielders gloves when they catch and field balls...it seems a little unfinished without them now...or they sound just way too low

What I think needs to be fixed is definitely steals. I haven't even had 1 player stealing on me yet, not even 1, even one of the best base stealer.
Other thing is make the CAP faces available for the edit scab players as well so we can make their faces right color and looking closer to what they should look like.
Also for rosters add stats for Bonds and Clemens..looks stupid seeing them without stats, and some others that has years of experience but no stats to show. Also some has mlb experience but shows as 0.. for example Kevin Barker. Also edit some of their faces to right colors.. like Donnie Sadler should be black, Thorman should be white (i think i saw him as a black guy in the game.. not sure) and many more players.

The current patch is a fix on the most severe issue, which is the framerate. 2K Sports wishes to put this patch out as quickily as they can. The problems that Ronnie is compiling is for a more in-depth patch that could possibly be released. Because the developers need to identify the issues and find solutions to them, the timeframe wouldn't be logically able to be completed in such a short time.

You have been sucked into the lies 2K has put out and like i have said all along...and have been censored for it but now its official the patch will be out but nothing else will be fixed nor is it guaranteed this patch will work. 2K should be sued! if you dont believe it look for yourself!
FROM a 2K spokesperson as reported on Pasta Padre
It is also reasonable to be cautious as to whether the patch will actually fix the framerate to begin with. The “temporary fix” (which involves turning off advertised features of the game) seems to help but by no means gets the game to run at 60fps. This was an issue with the game that was visible from the outset and 2K was well aware of it, yet the game was still released in that state. There have even been cases of patches not fixing issues they were meant to.
No mention regarding the overwhelming online lag, although an improved framerate could contribute to a better experience. It is unlikely though that would be the sole culprit and I wouldn’t expect performance to all of the sudden be adequate. It also appears that there are no plans to add sliders back into leagues which was a feature inexplicably removed this year.

Hey Jeffy are you on 2K's payroll! Open your eyes wake up and smell the coffee bro...go to the webpage and see for your self! my god are you in denial!!!
Earlier today 2K Sports sent out a press release regarding the patches that are being worked on for MLB 2K8. Amusingly it was the very same statement word for word that was given to Game Informer and discussed here 10 days ago. I wonder if that means the “shortly” it will supposedly be available relates to now or when it was originally communicated. As I eluded to when breaking down the statement, 2K was ignoring the PS3 consumers and not addressing the framerate issues while doing so on the 360 side.
Loot-Ninja contacted 2K and received specific confirmation that there is no framerate fix coming for the PS3. The only issues that will be addressed in patches are the framerate for the 360 and the Padres’ roster glitch for both systems. There are no other changes to be expected out of these patches and no others currently in the works.
Last year with 2K7 it took over four months after the 360 received a patch before the PS3 got the same one. You can also include 2K8’s demo in the discussion as they kept it from certification long enough that it wouldn’t be out prior to release. So in a way it isn’t a surprise that 2K has shown little to no concern for that group of consumers based on those previous actions.
It’s almost as if they’ve conceded the PS3 to MLB 08: The Show. Sales wise it’s understandable as VGChartz has The Show outselling it 2-1. I’d imagine that number will only be even greater next year after being treated as second class customers (that’s if 2K is still around to produce a 2K9).

Most recently trouble came from Take Two’s own Bully patch which was intended to improve framerate (among other things) but has resulted in reports of it not working or even causing more problems.
So it makes sense to hold off judgment until the patch actually arrives and can be evaluated for effectiveness. If it comes and does get the game to run consistently smooth that would be great. That is of no consequence to PS3 owners however who have no potential fix to look forward to.

I'm not denying anything. All I'm saying is that the paragraph you posted above is not "from a 2K Spokesperson". It's someone's opinion on what may happen, but at this point, who really knows?
I'm in the middle on this issue: I'm not a 2K fanboy, but I'm not anti-2K either. We'll just have to wait and see how they handle this, but I think it's too early to say nothing else is going to happen.
Hopefully they will do a good job......but only time will tell.
But at this stage of the game, to say they won't patch anything else is just as stupid as guaranteeing that they will patch everything. No one really knows.
Maybe you should actually read the article you keep copying and pasting:
So it makes sense to hold off judgment until the patch actually arrives and can be evaluated for effectiveness.

I noticed Ronnie said he was keeping an eye on this thread for possible future patch additions so I thought I would mention these problems I have noticed.
Sorry if these have been addressed by Ronnie or anyone else. I looked but maybe they are buried somewhere.
#1. Has anyone experience the glitch where you will be in mid play and all of a sudden the field view will be gone during mid play and cut back over to a new batter?
For Example: I had a guy on 3rd, and 1st. I tried to steal home and then managed to get off a decent bunt...when my guy on 3rd was about halfway to home the play completely ended and all of a sudden my next batter was on the plate and the screen went back to the normal hitting view. It ended up that my guy stealing home got out but it never showed the end of the play (him getting tagged out). I tried to view a replay and the replay just stopped at the same point that the play stopped for me. Very Weird!

#2 Has anyone noticed that the pitching mechanic seems to change speeds with different pitchers. At first I thought this had something to do with the composure of the pitcher...but after trying several games with several different pitchers I have noticed the speed change with all kinds of different reasons.
When I say pitching mechanic speed...I mean the speed at which your circle moves to the outside once you start your pitch, as well as the speed at which it closes when your trying to hit the green circle.
For Example: Whenever there is an AI on base...the pitching mechanic (motion) becomes faster...this can be attributed to composure I would guess...however, I started a new game with a new pitcher and in very first pitch of the inning, the mechanic was going very fast as if an AI was on base...but there was not...I wish someone could explain why the pitching mechanic speeds up. Im sure there is a logical explanation for it (or maybe it is a glitch) I just don't understand all the reasons behind why the mechanic would speed up.
----------------------------------------------
If someone could verify that this is happening to them and/or let me know the reasoning behind it. I would greatly appreciate it. Again, sorry if this was talked about elsewhere. I just couldn't find anything.

This is simply due to the way each pitcher goes through is windup, some are more deliberate in their motion and others are quicker to the plate. When pitching from the stretch it should be expected to have the motion accelerated as it's quicker than the windup.

Guys!!....Please dont BASH the 2K development team or the game in MY POST! Go do it elsewhere in another of the 1,000s of useless posts that are out there!
This development team deserves ALOT of credit for putting out a DAMN near great game of baseball this year! I'm sure many hours of late night cram sessions took place to even get this thing out as early as they did. You guys have no concept of how hard it is to create a finished game in today's day and age of NEX GEN with such limited time constraints and still make something stand out from the prior years.
Now Im not here to put this 2K team on a pedestal or tell you all to worship the ground they walk on, but at least give these guys the decent respect that you'd want in return if the roles were reversed.
This team has listened to our suggestions year after year and tried to incorporate all the things we have asked for to make this a better game. Give these guys some credit and by all means...have some patience!! If you aren't gonna post something PRODUCTIVE to this THREAD, get the hell out of it...PLEASE!
With that said,
2K team please add the following when and if you have the time, I know it will make a very good game even better and more polished:
1- 1st priority, get rid of all the LAG, STUTTERING, CHOPPINESS, SLO MO sections of the framerate, Chugginess and test it out on all different ball parks and crowd sizes with and with out WIND and other variable factors that could be causing the inconsistent frame rates
2- BOXSCORES are part of baseball....and they should be included and viewable in the CALENDAR days of every game for every team, at any time. People create franchises to create their own little worlds and mimic running and playing out an empire. To make this more believable and fun, you want to be able to view the stats and boxscores of teams coexisting with your own team. It makes it feel more alive!
3- Fielding has a slightly unfinished feel to it because you dont get that satisfaction of finishing a play by hearing the ball 'pop' in your glove when you make a diving stab, or field a hard throw to first base, ect. The fielding sound FX are actually IN the game, because I tested it by turning OFF all volume except for the SOUND FX but the problem is they are too low in comparison to the BAT CRACKING and the CATCHER'S MITT sounds. I think you need to just increase the VOLUME levels of the fielding glove sounds and you'll be allright and the game will have a more solid and polished feel to it when fielders make plays.
4- ALL CAMERAS available to PITCHERS and BATTING. Your 2 Pitching cameras are ok but dont give that sensation that the WIDE or WIDE ZOOM camera gives. In the default pitching cameras, the ball has a somewhat floaty feel that is a bit unsatisfying. I think the WIDE and WIDE ZOOM cameras have a greater sense of perspective , thus allowing the flight of the ball to appear to travel further which gives a much more enjoyable experience to also view while PITCHING too. So make all the BATTING cameras available to PITCHING too.
5- Stealing and Hit & Run sliders need some sort of boost, they dont seem to increase the frequency of the AI to engage in them more often. Are there other hidden variables that need to be looked at and tweaked that are preventing the CPU to steal and Hit and Run such as the Pickoff rating?...Catcher's Arm?....Infielder Throw Speed?... Aggressiveness?..ect? Are these ratings inadvertently holding AI runners on?
6- Pitch History display?....the Strike Zone Grid with the different balls pitch from a previous at bat visually displayed on the screen at once. Didn't we used to have that feature in previous versions?
7- Random Game freezing in franchise mode, usually around the 7th or 8th innings every 4-6 games ( at least for me on my Xbox Elite) No other game freezes on me since I have had the 360.
All these are pretty feasible and reasonable requests and the Pitching cameras, fielding sound requests should not require much resource time to implement since they are already in the game and just need to be either turned on, unlocked or turned up.
Guys....thanks for listening. Even if you could just add or tweak SOME of those requests, I think alot of people would be happy. Thanks again for working hard to make a great game and even working harder to make a PATCH to make it even BETTER!
KUDOS to 2K!

Ok.....as mentioned before I just lost the world series.....b/c I could not rob a HR anyway......
1) Sometimes the opposing batters will have their face turn white...or their entire body will disappear......
2) I can not hit the cut off man while using the total control throwing.....
3) In my franchise....my record was 120-42 (best in the MLB) so why the Heck was I the away team in rnd 1 vs the cards(89-73)......I still won the series but damn...I should had home field advantage.
4) I see we have some sponors this year like chevy.......makes no sense to have a square box sitting in the minor league parking lots......when I drop a bomb I want to at least a chevy cavalier or something out there....I know minor leaguers arent rich but they dotn drive cardboard boxes.
5) Not sure if you can fix this one.....but sometimes the animation the 1st basemen have when catching the ball is horrible...they just let their hand hang and do not stretch out....A Major Leaguer NEVER does that crap.
6) HR derby........it's like you hit HR till your hands hurt......
7)Sliding.....OMG this is extremley annoying......when you slide feet first....it put your players into slow-mo or something......so unless i take over each time and make my guys go head-first...I get thrown out a lot.....
And thats it....Lots of positives for this game...I hope this is a good foundation for 2k to work off of if they don't give up making the series.

Regarding hitting your cut-off man, you have to hold down LT while loading your throw, once released you can then pre-load your relay throw. If you don't hold down LT when winding up your throw you can still cut off the throw assuming there's a cut-off man in the line of the throw.
I know what you mean about 1B just standing there when the ball hits and sticks to his hand, not a deal breaker for me, but when that position is involved greater than 50% of the time you'd like to see some better animation.

In regards to three, home field advantage is decided by the result of the all star game. It's been like that for a few years now.

ya it was divisional round...I am the Marlins and was playing the cards..... I was jsut wondering if maybe anyone else has had this happen....
None of these things are deal breakers to me either.....would be nice to fix some of them if possible is all.....
And that's very true.....1B is involved in around 40% of the plays......although sometimes my 1st basemen will make a nice stretch and pick one....
Thanks for the tip on how to hit my cutoff....I am going to be a better player now since I can rob HR and hit my cutoffs.......you wouldn't believe how much of a difference that makes in a game 7 vs the yanks....

This is a similar issue in College Hoops 2k8. I finished # 3 in my league (the MAC) w/ Akron and in the second round of the conference tourney (I had a bye in the first round being in the top 4) and I was playing Ball State WHO was 13-16 and a very low seed and I was the visiting team?
Seems like no big deal, but with the 6th man feature in this game, I was out of my element playing in Cleveland with a crowd covered in Ball State Red and they could not miss a shot? No matter how good I played, they would hit a shot and they crowd would go nuts and the 6th man meter kept peaking out!

While pitching with runners on first and third, i have attempted to pick off the base runner in 1st base only to have the base runner in 3rd base go home. the problem is not that the runner in 3rd makes a break for home, the problem is that after attempting to pick off the runner at 1st base i can't throw the ball to home to try and get the runner that was at 3rd base. has anyone else had this issue happen to them?

Much needed fix. I didn't see it on here yet. Brothers and I were playing 3 player franchise mode and had to start over 3 diff times because 1 or 2 of us would get fired at the end of the year after making the playoffs with the option ON to always be offered a contract no matter how good or bad the performance. When I play franchise mode and pick a team I want to be THAT team. After you put hours into a franchise. the last thing you want do do is get fired for making it to the playoffs!!!! Flaws and All I love this game. I can overlook all of them EXCEPT this one. I hope it is not like this with the 1 player franchise mode??? or is it??? If I'm doing something wrong then please let me know!! Thankyou. Brink, you did good man. Keep up the hard work..

Im running a 360 league and its going well except for the fact that the lag online is pretty bad and there is no way to use sliders online. The game is becoming dull now in the league because the lag is so bad you have to actually swing or release your pitch way early in order to hit marks. this is a concern to all 16 members of my league. we set it up to be a sim style league and scores are going 24-7 and 25-20. Thats just crazy.

I wanted to report a bug I noticed when playing through AA game in franchise. I drove a ball fair down the third base line (bounced fair) and then it bounced against the wall just outside the foul line. Instead of being able to advance my runners, it got ruled a ground rule double....even though it stayed in the park. Odd.
Is there a rule difference between AA and the majors?

I'll try to explain this as best as i can. I haven't seen this bug creep up on this boards yet but i'll give it a try. I'll use the fastball as the example but this really goes for any pitch so it cant be my controller OK... I'm playing a franchise as the Phillies and every so often the pitching mechanic will allow me to start the first motion (1). But when I press forward on the controller for the second motion the power keeps going all the way out to maximum. So the power meter does not stop when I start the second motion. I then have to way for the meter to go back into the green which is now obviously smaller since the power is maxed out and then release. The pitching diagram will then show only the final part of the motion. In the case of the fastball the top half. Changeup the bottom half and so on. This bug will happen in just about every game and will happen to some batters and not to others. So this sometimes makes every different at bat when i'm pitching an adventure

I had two new ones today.
#1 First inning Derek Jeter hits a triple off of me, then Bobby Abreu immediately squares to bunt and Jeter leaves third on a suicide squeeze. Abreu fouls it off, Jeter slides in with the ball back at the screen since it was fouled off, the screen says stolen base and the yankees go up 1-0.
#2 I decide I do not want to pitch Wakefield, because as much as I love him, I am not really a fan of knuckle ballers in video games. Well anyway I skip him in my rotation and go to John Lester, Lester pitches a complete game, next day my entire rotation is at 100% and I can pitch Lester immediately.

It's not really third fouled bunt, it's just when you bunt foul with two strikes, but yes, that should be an out right then.

Here's my weird issue:
Playing a franchise game Cubs vs Cardinals - in the 2nd inning Ramierez jacks a HR and unlocks a random Wild Card
In 3rd inning a Cardinal flies out to end the inning, and the "A" button pops up to continue, leading to the "End Game" menu ... meanwhile Jon and Joe drone on about the game as if it's still playing.
Being forced to end game, I note the game didn't count in the standings (I was winning), but that I actually DID get to keep the wildcard?

The whole DL and 25 roster limit for all three levels of the farm system is idiotic. There needs to be room in, at least A ball, so that we can make roster moves w/out having to sign/release people when someone goes on the DL, and then comes back off.

After being sorely disappointed by the glitches in gameplay and Franchise mode with the last two years of MLB 2k series, I held off in buying this year's game. (Also, I've been asking for an Expansion Team Mode for several years, and I was again disappointed not to see it discussed in this year's game.) After reading through these forums about the poor quality of this release, I'm not buying the game.
I know all of you who are listing your complaints and putting together a "wish list" of fixes for a second patch are just trying to improve the game, but let's face it: If they couldn't fix those issues in the first place and released a game with all of those problems after a full year to improve last year's game, what makes you think they'll suddenly be able to solve these problems and deliver a magical patch that fixes them within the next month or two?
If a patch comes out that fixes the framerate problem, consider yourself lucky. I really wouldn't hold your breath for a second patch. If one comes out, I'll buy the game. If not, then 2kSports missed out on my money this year.

There will be a fix list after the patch is public, according to Ronnie.
I'm not sure if this problem qualifies, but today I was unable to sell my duplicate cards. I tried several times and restarted the game, to no avail. I went to the Xbox Live menu and was able to sign into 2K Sports fine, and was signed into Xbox Live the whole time as well, but the game said I couldn't sell my cards and to check my connection status. I haven't tried again since then...that was a few hours ago.
Also, I tried it from the main menu (after signing in) and from the Xbox Live menu within the game.

Well, we don't expect that every little issue will be fixed. Having said that, it only takes a few seconds to mention a problem here that may or may not be easily fixed in a future patch. Maybe you're right, maybe we will never get another patch. Honestly, I enjoy the game enough already to feel like I didn't waste my money. I suspect a lot of people here feel the same way. Of course, I didn't play 2K7 so I don't have much of a frame of reference as far as the improvement of this year's version over past games.

1. The scoreboard going crazy w/make some noise or whatever else (the crowd doesn't even respond, so its not working right anyway) when you're batting. It should be off or just a player card. The way it is now is very distracting
2. Despite what Joe Morgan says many times, runners aren't going to be stealing third with two outs.
3. Opposing pitchers, even w/the sliders turned way down, hit the corners religiously.
4. A pitch count meter
5. A pitch history chart (in other words, what pitches were thrown to any batter in a previous at bat, and their result)
6. If you hit a payoff pitch, it doesn't show anything, you can only tell if the number next to whatever pitch is higher or lower than it was before.
7. (This is really annoying) If you hit the payoff pitch perfectly, YOU SHOULDN'T GIVE UP A HOME RUN, or any kind of hard-hit ball. I really hate that.
8. Changeups, curves and other offspeed pitches should never been a payoff pitch at the top half of the strike zone. These pitches are supposed to be down in the strikezone always.
9. Make right/left handed matchups more/less effective
10. Announcers make some very strange comments, that have nothing to do w/whats going on w/the game or is just wrong. Too many to list.
11. CPU still makes lots of highlight reel, diving catches. Don't think any of the sliders can change that.
Also:
Stat came up for "The Last 7 Games" during the 3rd game of the season
If the runner is safe at first trying for a double play because of a bad throw or a drop by the 1B, its not an error.

I doubt this could be patched but should be fixed for 2k9.....
When you hit a long fly ball down the line, one that is home run distance, you know whether or not it is going to a HR or not. It takes about 5 seconds from the time the ball leaves the bat for the ball to land on these plays. It is anti- climatic because if it is a HR you'll see a red arrow indicator and if it is not a HR you don't get any indication, hence the foul ball. I recall some of the most anxious moments from playing MVP baseball was when a long drive was hit down the line. It was always 50/ 50 as to whether or not it would be a HR. No telling whether or not the ball was going fair or foul. Really put you on the edge of your seat.

Can a moderator PLEASE make a numbered list of actual complaints and bugs to-be-fixed in the first message of this thread, or start a new one with a numbered list of complaints to-be-fixed? Nobodies gonna go through 21 pages to find out if their problem has already been mentioned, and the search function only works so well.
I've noticed several things, but I'll only bring up one:
The infielders DON'T line up properly on throws from the outfield. First off, on a throw from CF to 3B the 2B stays on 2B and the SS gets the cutoff. In MLB 2k8, the 2B and SS hump each other in short LF waiting for the cutoff, while nobody covers 2B. This isn't what happens in baseball.

Agreed on all these points. I've had the bunt back to the pitcher, and the clear weather rain out happen several times now. (note, if you start a franchise with rain delays on, you can't turn them off again?)
There's no point to the DL unless its a season ending injury, because if you put someone on, you need to pick up a FA to fill the space. When he comes off, you need to cut someone again. An easy way to fix this would be to create a "low ball" affiliate, which would have no roster restrictions, enabling a few extra young players to be kept in reserve in case someone gets hurt and you need a temporary player. If not that, then at least increase the roster size allowed on A ball teams to 30+.

After reading through all 22 pages of the bug thread, I've compiled a list of all known bugs that need to be resolved. I'll try to keep the main post updated as bugs become known/fixed.
Note, that I will not list the framerate, online lag, and Padres bug, as they should be fixed in patch 1.1.
Hitting:
1: Batters eye almost never displays pitch location
2: Because of lag, a CPU pitcher will preform a pickoff attempt before the screen returns from a replay, making it hard to play with "auto diveback" set to off
3: Even with adjusted sliders, balls rarely make it through the infield, especially around
1B. Note, that sliders will have some effect on the gap between 3B and SS
4: A foul bunt with 2 strikes not always an out
5: AI bunts ball directly to pitcher and gets called out, even if ball clearly hits the ground.
Pitching:
1: Every once in a while, usually once per game, you will randomly throw a meatball at the start of your windup.
2: Sometimes, the second motion for your pitcher will not register*
*: Have not been able to replicate myself, but multiple sources claim occurs
Audio:
1: When you listen to the pre-game commentary, the last part gets cut off as the game starts. This occurs about 95% of the time.
2: Extras/Player Beats causes console to freeze when selecting the Phillies or Padres
3: Commentary sometimes lags behind gameplay; most noteable on long fly balls
4: Commentary sometimes wrong (threw him a 2-2 fastball on a 2-1 count; calling a HR and inside the park during a replay, ect.)
Ganeral Gamplay:
1: AI doesn't steal with custom sliders
2: Rain delays are called on clear days with no clouds in the sky
Franchise:
1: Saving mid-game during a franchise and loading causes game lockup and loss of franchise data
2: Any change to the pitching rotation will cause the rotation to reset for the next game in franchise, regardless of stamina level
3: Some players on Braves (possibly other teams as well) vanish from the callup/senddown screen during offseason
4: SWB Yankees can not edit lineup from within a franchise, forcing CPU to edit lineup
5: Rain outs are not rescheduled; game is simply re-played with the same pitchers
6: Even after 5 innings are played, no win is awarded for a rain out. Game is replayed on the same day/time
7: Playoff seeding sometimes incorrect (not WS, where home team is decided by ASG)
8: The 25 man roster limit for all teams (including minors) makes it impossible to put a player on the DL. If a player is put on the DL, another one must be signed as a replacement, then cut when the other player comes off the DL.
9: No box score in simmed games (intentional?)
Create a Player:
1: Face of a create a player resets to default
Other:
1: Ticker will not turn off
2: Walks don't show up in the box score, only the pitching line
3: Too easy to hit HR in HRD, even in All-Star difficulty. I've had upwards of 50 HR with less than 5 outs with ease.

I do not know why that is, but we also might be better to just send Ronnie a PM with a numbered list like this and then maybe he will put it in that first message. If we get two posts going on the same thing it may just make these 2k8 forums more of a pain than they already are and take more of a chance of things not getting fixed. I really appreciate your effort, because I sure did not want to go through that post and make a list myself.
Also under Pitching #'s 1 and 2 are not bugs/glitches. I thought they were for the longest time, but I started looking at my pitch analysis after those meatballs that were described and I realized my mistake was that it was not looking for a smooth slow motion that followed that of my pitcher. If I was fast, firm and consistent it would not happen as long as I changed my motion and stopped at the proper time. I went from throwing a few meatballs an inning to not having thrown the two types that you describe in about 20 games. Also on the meatballs that come the second you start your 2nd motion I was also having them when I tried to correct a mistake from my 1st motion. For example if I went a little to the left on a fastball instead of straight down and then tried to straighten it up before I started my second motion I would always get a meatball the second I started my second motion.

Keyword here is "BUGS vs ODDITIES"
Overall I understand your take on trying to summarize it all, but you may want to reconsider some of the things you think are bugs. Plus there are more oddities (stange/weird moments) that do happen but I wouldn't relay them as bugs. I consider that the norm for all console sport games and games in general.
Hitting:
1- False and incorrect batter's eye does indeed work
2- is possible but setting it to auto diveback will result in you sliding safely all the time.
3- False. 3b- Is not a bug
4- True,
5- Has not occured, and if it did it does not happen every at bat. Not a Bug
Pitching:
1- False
2- False (exceeding past a certain gesture will result in a resembled pitch type)
Audio:
1- True but I don't agree with your pecentage
2- Unknown
3- True, but it happpens when it happens regardless if it's a fly ball or not.
3- True
Ganeral Gamplay:
1- Overall it's true, but AI does steal just not as frequent as everyone wants.
2- Unknown
Franchise:
I'm wait for the official mlb roster download. Other than that I won't comment. But I'm sure out of your 9 franchise issue some of them may end up true.
Other:
1- False and True, SportsTicker can be reduced to almost a 2Kinfo blip on your screen.
2- Hmmmm I keep a eye out on that one.
3- I say it's true.

As much as "everyone wants"??? Try "doesn't steal period, because that part of the game programming is broken".
I would think "everyone wanting" the CPU to steal a base once in a while, is a pretty normal expectation. This is baseball after all, not bowling. No steals in bowling.

I have had the AI try to steal on me 2x in over60+ games. Yes, I would consider this part of the game to be badly mangled.
Don't forget the 7th inning movie festival that tends to freeze the game up.

#1 is totally true. I have had it happen to me in every game i have played so far (all in offline franchise mode). The pitcher will throw the ball without me even moving the right stick at all. Sometimes I have had it still be showing the replay from the previous play and my controller will vibrate and the screen then changes to the current batter and my pitcher has already thrown a meatball down the middle of the plate. I have had it where it will throw on it's own for 2-3 consecutive batters, all usually ending up in balls launched deep into the outfield or home runs.

I know this may soud crazy, but could the vibrating from the homerun be causing your analog stick to move and start the pitch? I do not know because on PS3 there is no vibration. I do believe most of these meatball posts on all kinds of forms are not glitches however and the people have not really learned the new pitching completely.

I have vibration off and it happens to me. Actually, what I think it is, is you can't have your thumb on the R stick when the cam switches to the next batter in the box, otherwise it sometimes accidently sets the pitching meter in motion.

It does not always happen after a vibration occurs. And to be quite honest there are times i have had to set the controller down on the floor, nothing touching, nobody around...to check on my kids, or maybe even just to stretch for a second and it will throw the meatball.............keep in mind, absolutely nothing is touching the right stick.
I have tried to pause the game when i know i am going to do something quick such as mentioned above, and when i come out of the "pause" it will still do it.

I agree with the list, but I think there is some method behind the Batters Eye not showing up.
Last year, it worked in a very unrealistic way and I think (hope) that 2K went out of their way to correct it (mostly).
Last year, if you guessed the right location, you were treated to know the location of the pitch before the pitch was thrown as well as you received an extra bonus. I believe that the only time you would not see itm even if you guess right, is if the pitcher threw a perfect pitch.
This is unrealistic as even if a hitter does guess the right location, he does not know it until the pitch is thrown. He doesn't know ahead of time where the pitch is going to end up at. It basically ended up being a gift wrapped pitch that you would crush. You're duties as a hitter were reduced as all you knew the exact location of the pitch...all you had to do is swing.
This year, I believe it's much more realistic. The pitch location, IMO, shouldn't show up. If you guess right and get that pitch, you should still have to react appropriatly. You still have to determine that the pitch is in the location that you guessed and then execute. Occasionally, I still see the circle show up, but assume this only happens when the pitcher makes a mistake that happens to go in to my zone (a dounble whammy!!!). It still shows up, but much later than it did, making the experience much more realistic than last year.
The way I see it, last year handicapped it so much in the hitters favor that it seemed once every at bat, I would be told the location of a pitch, which is not real at all.
I think they got it much better this year, but in all honesty, think they should get rid of the whole system what so ever. If your looking for a pitch and get it, then you should still have to put a solid swing on the ball.

There you go blabbering once again. Anyway I am also aware you are walking on a fine line from being sent on vacation. So you have a nice day.
Posting antagonizing, cynical remarks throughout the forum is what you do best. Now include that with your overredundant repetition of your backlash towards others who might actually enjoy parts of the game you don't, is never a nice gesture.

One thing I've noticed that is a little frustrating is players being able to make unbelievable (and often unrealistic) throws in which they throw against their momentum and are able to make a hard and accurate throw to nail a runner.
1) I was playing as the Met's against the Cub's. I lay down a decent bunt down the third base line. The catcher pounces out of the box and gets the ball probably 10-15 feet out of the box in a dead sprint towards thirdbase. He picks up the ball and while continuing to run that direction makes an awkward, yet perfect throw on the run away from his body to nail Jose Reyes by a few steps. In real life a catcher is going to have to stop and make a 270% counter clockwise turn to nail this runner.
2) In another game, I hit a shot to the left of the third-baseman. He fields the ball on the run going slightly back and to his left. He continues in this direction and makes a perfect throw on the run to nail my hitter. In real life the fielder would either have to stop and shuffle his feet or like above make a counter clockwise turn to gather himself and nail the runner.
3) In another game, I lay a bunt down the first base line that stays pretty close to the line. The pitcher runs to the ball grabs it and tosses it on the run to first for the out. The things was, the throwing motion was so fast that when I watched the replay, it wasn't even really a throw, but more like he slapped the ball sending it in the air to first base. Maybe 5 pitchers in all of baseball could make this play period every once in a while, but you are taught as a pitcher to set slow down, then set your feet, get low to grab the ball and then throw from the low poistion. I have also seen this play from a pitcher on the thirdbase line, which is even more unbelievable.
Overall, I really like the fielding this year, this is just the one part that needs attention next year. They need to take a look at how a throw on the run effects the accuracy and strength of a throw (take a look at how APF handled non-mobile QB's that threw on the run). At least, they did get rid of the stupid pitcher making a jump throw on a bunt that has been in the game since, I think, 2K1 on the DC.

i wish they had kept the hot/cold zones from 2k5 for pitchers, would of evened up the batters eye for batters, ye si know u can get it offline and u have to pay for a few batters but back in 2k5 they had it online too

LOL, it is pretty goofy. Throws literally head 160 degrees in the opposite direction of their arm and body movement.
Arm strength ratings are too high, BTW. Helps some to lower them.

I was playing yesterday and i noticed that the yankees AAA home jerseys don't get dirty (EVER). I stole and slide literally every chance I had but no dirt on the jerseys. Their road jerseys get dirty but not the home ones. Has any body else seen this problem? Could that be fixed with a patch?

First off I'd like to give a Simon Cowell judging of this game....."I think it was a complete and utter mess. It didn't work — it was all over the place."
That's kind of how this game is when you get down to the deep stuff. For the basic player that just wants a game it works, but for us fantasy/sim loving junkies out here it is quite a mess.
LIST OF FRANCHISE PROBLEMS FOUND SO FAR:
1) When editing the lineups, when you pull players off the bench, there is an empty spot on the bench and when you have too many and you exit the screen, it freezes....
2) Starting pitchers fail to show up unless you let the computer set them for you....
3) Fix the salary bugs, some of them get downright outrageous with their costs while I signed Albert Pujols for 3.9 mil for the next 7 seasons......
4) Is there a way to ask where you'd want a player to be placed after a trade rather than having to go in manually (not a big pest, but it would be nice)
5) Make it possible to exit all screens regardless whether slots are filled (sometimes it will lock you in the pitching screen and i feel like a mime stuck in a box)
PAST THE FRANCHISE:
1) Make it easier to earn points for the card packs......
2) Sometimes the fielders seem to forget that they are fielding and all of a sudden the ball goes right by them......very annoying when going for the no-no
3) Fix the stadium name for the Indians (Progressive Field)
Next Year Changes:
1) Spring training mode that allows you to build up players' stats through mini games
2) Stadium upgrades, media contracts, ticket promotions
3) Mascots

Things that need be redone:
1. Definite roster update needed
2. some ratings need to be redone. Fortunato (***udome of Chi Cubs) just the other day riffled a ball from the warning track to the catcher's location before contact with Weeks of Mil alomst effortlessly, but in the game I an barly hit second base from the middle of the outfield.
3. tone down the errors by the first baseman, every game I have played the first baseman muffs at least 2 or 3 balls. Includes computer.
4. Make card packs cost less ( It takes way to long to make 500 cr. I have played religiously sice release, and got 1 card pack via wild card.)
Next year addons:
1. career mode- simular to that of The Show. Especially seeing this is the only MLB game for 360
2. deeper ticket and money managing (sponsors, tv contaracts, pick all ticket prices, ect.)

I went to load my franchise today and now the calendar won't go past March. The only changes were that I downloaded the roster update and cashed in a wild card. I tried creating a new franchise and had the same problem. I have a 360 if that helps at all.
