Coach Tyree Jordan has joined the school he once played for, but now as a coach. Jordan will be taking over a team that had only 8 wins the past year. Today at a news conference Jordan confirmed and talked about the head coaching job at tennesee-martin. He said " I have come back to the school that i once loved, not to play to coach." When asked what are the goals for this season, he replied " This year we are going to go out on the court and try to compete and win some basketball games, nothing more we can do." Then he closed the news conference off and posted the roster and schedule for this year.

Coach Jordan comments on the schedule "Very tough non conference games and all non-conference games are on the road." "I'm kinda dissapointed there isn't very many home games to let these fans see us, but we will move on, and with these tough games we will figure what type of team we are

Coach Jordan's philosphy is a: fast tempo team, with tight pressure, and pushing the break and crashing the boards.

In a neutral site game between memphis and tennesee-martin,more memphis fans obviously, starts off the first first round action of the 2k college hoops classis, and memphis and heavly favored. At the beginning mempis jumped out to a 7-0 lead and jordan called time. Then his team went on a 9-0 run taking the lead. But from then on it was all memphis in the 1st half going into intermission with a 31-18 lead. In the first minute of the 2nd half memphis went on a 10-3, making the score 41-21 lead and T-martin called TO. From that point on, in the next 5 and a half minutes memphis didn't score and had 6 turnovers. They went 0-9 in that span. On the other hand T-martin made 4 3s and a three point play, which was part of their 21-0 run. Coach Jordan said it was amazing how his team played during that stretch. the score then 42-41, mephis took 43-42 and t-martin got their own basket. Then derrick rose of memphis hit a three with 23 secs to take a 46-45 lead. Krager of t martin then pushed the ball up found an open Barnett who drived made a lay up and got foulded giving martin a 48-46 lead. Chris Douglas Roberts tried to make a three as time expired but didn't com close. Coach Callipari of memphis said:" It's unbelievable how bad we played in that game, but give martin credit, every time rose of roberts touch the ball they doubled them and caused a lot of turnovers"

Jordan said he couldn't imagined a better way to start the year

Actually I beat them the other night with Western Illinois. They were running a half court trap and my PG was really quick so I was able to blow by them and get an easy layup all night. After awhile it actually got quite old. Wish the computer was better about switching out of a press when getting beat on it so much.

How long of halfs are you playing and what level? Your scores seem pretty low for running a up-temp offense??

At St. Peters (5-1) home court, they did not play well shooting 38% from the field while Marin shot 48%. Martin never trailded the first half and had a 30-21 lead going into break. The second half was all martin though as they scored 40 pts. The final score ended up being 70-49. The main story was the turnovers saint peters couged up 28 turnovers. The main reason was every time they had ball, Martin pressed. Also everytime the Guards had the ball or the big men down low TM would double, which caused a lot of turnovers. Fast break points were 29-11 in Martin Favr. Coach Jordan said this was probably their 2nd best game giving the pea***** their first loss

Key players:
