Technical Q&A:
How do I know when the Patch will be released?
- No set date has yet been given, but they do have a realistic goal in mind. Patch News will be mentioned when they are ready, MLB2K8 people are aware and are looking into it and hope to have a working patch for us ASAP. Now if everything runs smoothly and no other problems persist based on thier encounterment they wll pass it on as being approved. Now having said that there is finally a little certification process that has to go through Microsoft & Sony in order to have the patch be made available to download for the users.

How do I download the official April 7th MBL2K8 patch?
- Once you insert the MLB2K8 disc into your 360 console and it locates you are xboxlive enabled. A mandatory update screen will appear. Click yes, wait a few second and you will have downloaded the April 7th patch.

How do I get the Official Patch that was released on APRIL 7th if I'm not a xboxlive subscriber?
- Try taking your Harddrive to your friends house or station that has xboxlive already set up
- Create a Free silver account if you have no intentions of becoming a Gold Member
- Xbox.com/2K might offer a patch file to be copied which can be used as a downloadable patch disc.

How do I improve my Framerate Stutter?
- Simply Sign out of your VIP system while in a MLB 2K8 game until a patch is issued via xboxlive.

How do I save my Franchise once I sign out from my VIP/Xboxlive gamertag?
- Once you load up your Franchise, wait for the game to start. Then simply sign out and once you finish playing, simply sign back into your gamertag then from MLB2k8's drop down menu select save team franchise.

How do I clear my Harddrive Cach'e from my 360?
- Simply go into the xbox memory blade. Once there select Y then press X,X, LB, RB, X,X then select yes

"Chocolate" is the only one code found for MLB2K8 to enter the code in the game, go to My Cards and select Card Album, and then select Duplicates and press the A Button. How do I change my user controls?
- Go into your MY2K8 settings and select VIP settings, change what controls you want to play with, then save

How do I apply sliders to my Franchise?
- Once you created and entered your franchise, simply go into MY2K8 tab settings, select MY FRANCHISE then select DIFFICULTY. Once there you have to manually set any of the sliders you like to adjust. Upon exiting make sure you have properly saved your changes. Then manually have it saved to your existing franchise Hard Drive save file. (Each Franchise you create needs to reapeat the same process)

How do I perfect my Pitch Types?
- If you are having trouble with any pitch type, just simply pause the game with that individual you have on the mound and select pitching tutoria from the ingame menu screen. Once there, you can play a game of catch. It wil be just you and the catcher and the game will grade and show your Effectiveness Score Percentage, Pitch Gesture Score Percentage and your Release Score Percentage on the display menu.

How do I remove or reapply my Pitchers Pitch types ingame display?
- While on the mound simply press the R trigger once to remove and once to bring back the pitch menu display.

How do I call my manager to the mound?
- While standing on the mound simply press the LB button to bring up your lineup card. Once there highlight your pitcher that you are using and select him by pressing A which will bring you a dropdown menu which contains a mound visit

How do I use my Batter's EYE properly?
- To use the batter's eye effectively, you must hold the L stick in the zone you desire and do not let the L stick go. Now when the pitch is being delivered and you guessed right you will not see your spot light up while the pitcher is winding up. You will only see the location once the ball is finally thrown in its delivery motion. Keep in mind all this occurs once you have your batter in his step through motion.

- For the folks who do not wish to hold the stick in place, you can change the batters eye to "always on" in the VIP menu. When you do this, the eye will work exactly like it did in 2K7. You hold it where you want until the pitcher starts his windup. When he starts his windup, the eye will disappear, but it WILL lock into place offline or online. (Discovered by SleepyTercel)

How do I perform a PowerSwing?
- In this years version of MLB 2K8 there is no Powerswing. The manual is incorrect.

How do I perform a CheckSwing?
- While attempting to use MLB2k8's 2.0 Offline Checkswings. You start by holding the Rstick down then when you release you must react and pull the Rstick at a quick rate back to it's downward position before passing your halfway mark. While attempting to use MLB2K8's classic swing. Simply hit the A button lightly when attempting a swing.

How do I select a different baserunner running the bases?
- Once in the game simple press the Lstick in correspondence with the play on the base. It will highlight that specific baserunner you selected.

How do I call off another player from crashing into me?
- While the ball is in the air simply press the X button to call for the ball, your defensive AI will back off.

How do I know which direction the wind is blowing and its strength?
- The PA announcer will always say the gametime temperature, wind speed and wind direction after the very first pitch thrown in a game. Raise up the PA setting frpm the audio menu if you can't hear him loud enough.

How do I Remove or Add scores and my ingame news from the sports ticker?
- Once you're in MLB2K8 menu tabs, scroll over and select xboxlive, Select OnlineDesk, Select Online setting, then select General settings. Here you are provided a list of news catergories that can be adjusted. Simply select Show 2K, MLB, NBA, NCAA, NCAAF and NFL news to Never, Sometimes or Often. Then press the "A" button to save. Now when you play you will or will not see any news scrolling in the bottom of your screen.

How do I Limit or Add 2K's leaderboard and events from the sports ticker?
- Once you're in MLB2K8 menu tabs, scroll over and select MY2k8 tab, then select Presentation. Scroll down to Score Ticker and select it to Off or ON. Then press "A" button to save. This will prevent or provide you seeing different type of gamertags and/or 2ksport events scrolling in the bottom of your screen. (I use This method in exh games and is 80-90% effective)

How Do I play Ranked Games ONLINE?
- Simply go to the MLB 2K8 menu and select custom games. There you will find 4 different Ranked game types. Normal, Cards Team, Strikes Only and Simple.

How do I play an Online Card Battle?
- You must first collect enough Black/Gold/Platinum baseball cards. Once you do you can create your own dream team. You must fill in every Starting postition, Bench, Starting Pitchers and Relievers all under a salary cap of 150million Dollars. Once the CPU gives you the OK. You can now go and participate in a cardbattle located in the Custom Room, Once there have the cpu find you an opponent who also has his team that he/she put together. Once again the game will play exactly like anyother game. It is not UNO or a Poke'mon card game.

How do I properly Trade/Offer my set of baseball cards to my online friends?
- Sign into MLB2k8's xboxlive tab, Select Online Desk tab, Select Leaderboards and then select Friends. Find friend then click in "R" stick and select "view 2K Player Card". Highlight and choose "Propose Trade". Once in the propose screen offer your 1 thru 5 cards, Then select friends name and from here you can view his cards and select from his Book, (Check his Tradable Pg first) Once done press "start button" to activate trade proposel.

How do I Accept/Decline/Counter Offers of Trades/Offers that my Online friends/members sent me?
- Sign into MLB 2k8's xboxlive tab, Select Online Desk Tab, Select My Cards and then select "Pending Trades" Once here you can view your card offers and either Decline/Accept or make a Counter Offer to the individuals card(s) proposel.

How do I download and use the offllne roster update?
- When you first sign into MLB2K8 go into 2K8 Xboxlive menu tab, Select Onllne desk, select downloadable roster content, then select the offline roster you want DL, then properly save. Now if the cpu has not automatically loaded the most recent roster you want to use offlne, then you must go into the MY2K8 menu tab and select load, once there find and highlight the downloadable roster you will like use and load. (Newly downloaded rosters cannot replace your existing franchise/tourneys rosters

I have to say that the batter's eye isn't working as intended if that is the case...you have to begin your hit in order to see the pitch...the step is when you see if you guessed right or not..which totally should not be the case

Clearing out your Cache is a very safe procedure,
It does not Remove or Lose your games, game saves, Downloaded Content, Videos etc. Keep in mind though you may have to RE-Download game content that you may have bought in the past (Ex. COD2maps)

It main purpose it serves resembles somewhat as a defragment tool you probably use on your PC. So once done all your 360 games you re-insert will ask for the mandatory update once again.

What you did was Reformat your Harddrive... Which will make you lose everything and I mean EVERYTHING.
The cache code was used primarily when MLB 2K6 hit the seen.

go to VIP settings, use the LT or RT to cycle to the options. If I remember correctly is probably the second or third option. It took me a while to find it but after playing using the swing stick and pitching features I'm enjoying the game more.

Hey Darkspace. I know this sound like a stupid question, but how do I get my team to actually go around the horn. The computer teams do it, but mine never does. In fact, my team has never been able to go around the horn. Not even in last year's game. The 1B will start the around the horn and throw to the SS but the SS just holds the ball. He doesn't throw it to the 2B. Sometimes if there is say a liner to 3B and it's caught in the air, the 3B will throw to the SS and the SS will do the throwing motion as if he were throwing it to the 2B but he doesn't. He just holds on to the ball. Is there something I can do to have them actually go around the horn? Or is it a glitch? is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is it just me? Please let me know!

Believe it or not Around the Horn is actually the only cutscreen I turn off. Because you nailed it on the head with your description, Not only would I find it time consuming seeing the ball being throwing around the bags fpr the umphteen time, it use is also incomplete.

I realized something lately..... usually when a runner is on 1st base you can take one or two step with him.... if you press LB a 3rd time maybe half a second after the second time, he will also take a 3rd step but you need timing... The difference between the power swing and contact swing is based on timing, hit influence, and pitch type and location.

Perfect timing will result in great hitting but influencing and pitch type and location will reduce the power behind the swing.

i.e. Santana throwing a 75mph meatball down the middle at David Ekstein will surely be a homer if (big if) David doesn't pull the ball and he makes great contact, but if Johan is throwing a 95 mph slider high and inside and Eks trys to pull it and makes contact with the neck of the bat... its gonna be a dribbler.

I know I asked this question previously, but I would like to get a little more feedback if possible. The font size for this program is incredibly small. As great as Franchise mode may be, it is worthless if I can't read the stats because the numbers are so small. All things considered, my tv size, as well as my eyes, are adequate. The small font was almost a problem in 2k7, but is just too much of an issue in this version. What good is the player development in Franchise mode (which I loved in 2k7) if I can't even read the overall/potential rating number in the game?

Last year you needed to dive at the proper time. Most people ended up diving head first into the wall! :D

This year it's easy. You just run to the wall and the outfielder will jump on his own. I love the new system. They jump when it's close too and sometimes they get it, sometimes they don't. Very nice job this year on wall jumps. :)

You can't. The only way to use an updated roster within franchise mode is to BEGIN the franchise with that roster loaded. You also cannot update any of the other CPU controlled teams during your franchise, even though there is a selectable option to "edit CPU teams" when you start the franchise. It's really moronic.

You have to have cut scenes on (or something like that), when the batter/runner is rounding the bases, they show the distance of the HR.

Unfortunately cut scjenes and replays seemingly double the time it takes to play a game.

thanks, the codes that say to unlock legends teams is to do the button sequence in the title screen... i assume this screen is the one that is when you first start the game and asks you "start game, ect" however the sequence doesn't seem to work, am I doing something wrong?

Some uniforms need for you to unlock them in order to use them. Read the back of each uniform card you are interested in and it will say how to unlock them. Usually you have to beat certain teams. Or you can ask for a card trade online.

You need to select simple game from the online lobby. This will be strictly button use for pitching/batting and throwing.

While in motion, squeezing the Right trigger will lead your player to make a diving attempt at the ball he's trying to reach.

Ok well first off what you're talking about is called a double switch. I don't know maybe there's a double switch icon on your lineup card, but if there isn't you can do this. (I play on X360, I'm assuming it's that same if not I don't know)
1- Pinch hit your sub 3B for your pitcher
2- When you go out on defense next inning it will ask if you want to replace your pinch hitter with a pitcher or do nothing, select do nothing
3- Go to your lineup card swap positions of your pinch hitter and your starting 3B, now your starting 3B is pitching and your pinch hitter is where you want him, at third.
4- Put your reliever in for your starting third baseman, your PH will swing in the 9-hole and your pitcher will hit wherever your starting 3B was.

I know it was asked earlier, but nobody seemed to answer.. i am playing with the Padres, and I wanted to demote a no name reliever, and bring up Mark Prior. well, then I go to demote, it has a whole side that says "Free space" but i cant demote him. I had to end up bringing Prior up, and releasing the pitcher to make room on my MLB roster. it refused to demote him.

NOW, when i go to set my rotation, Mark Prior isnt there.. BUT.. when the game starts, I can select him to start...

Any ideas?

Usually before a game invite you can scroll on each participant and see the record of the members in the lobby room. You may want to create a thread in the online forum, maybe there you can get more detailed answers than I can provide at this time.

I have a few questions that I haven't found the answers to online, in this thread, or in the manual/menus for the Xbox 360:

1) Is it possible to intentionally hit a batter when pitching? If so, how?

2) When in the outfield, after deciding to throw the ball to a base, is it possible to stop this throwing motion and hold onto the ball (not throw the ball at all) before the ball has left the throwing hand? If so, how?

3) Is it possible to have the manager come out of the dugout and argue calls? If so, how?

4) When calling for a mound visit, is there a way to turn on a cut scene to show the manager come out and meet with the pitcher?

5) Is it possible to save Instant Replays to the hard drive?
