View Full Version : Is it even possible to patch the horrible Franchise Logic?

This was a problem last year, and why I didn't even buy the game. Stupid me had assumed that after two years of franchise bugs, they'd kinda iron them all out. Boy was I wrong.
Is it reasonable to expect a patch for MLB 2K8 that might fix some of the franchise problems, like how ridiculous it is with signing players and how if they have a bad month they all of a sudden become worthless and vice versa? Also the end of season FA signing is ridiculous too. Problems with not being able to call up or send down players while on the Padres? Seems kinda silly to me.

Nothing is impossible but you have to ask yourself this one question. "For a game with a yearly release and most of the companies resources will be allocated to the development of 2k9, how much could you actually expect in way of patches for this game."
I'd have to say the only updates you will see will be similar to last years and just as few. Sports games aren't like games like Battlefield 2 or Quakewars: Enemy Territory where the game is designed to be played over several years and where the community really matters.
In sports games you get what you get and unless its a glaring fault in the game where something doesn't work (ie The play in Madden that made Brett Favre moon walk to the sidelines) you will see nothing but the occasional roster update.

Uh, yeah, it does matter. For anyone who wants to play Franchise mode, there's no point. I'm not going to attack any gameplay problems because I haven't played the game enough to really notice, but for anyone into the franchise mode with minor leagues, stats, FA signings, trades, etc. you're going to get a very very unrealistic experience.

na don't expect anything
this is pretty much an on-the-field gameplay game
everything else is unfinished and was poorly tested, if at all

Ok what blitz said is very true, But what has made franchises such as Madden successful in the past is their ability to take the previous years game....and evolve. 2K doesn't seem to be improving.....they just try to add something new because they think "New" sells.
If they use this game as a base and build off it 2K9 should be great.... Problem is they are going to try something innovative....while that's not all that bad, it is just not key to making a good game and selling MILLIONS of copies. They need to hire me and I can make a good game for everybody lol.(<<----that's a joke btw)
