I guarantee if 2k could get Brett Farve to endose 2K9 then they would have a legitimate chance in outselling Madden. You have your GAMERS that know EA has the license to the NFL, then you have a great percentage of PLAYERS that have no clue about this.
If you were to put the golden boy himself, Mr. Brett Farve on the cover; do some commercials and some other promos for the game then 2k9 then he alone could save the franchise.
I am NOT a fan of the golden boy, but I respect him and all that he has endured throughout his life. America loves him and he has a following unparrellel to none. Then throw in his good friend Warren Sapp, Sterling Sharpe, Tikki, The Bus, Kevin Greene, Sam Mills, Keyshawn Johnson, etc...
Imagine the commerical, (gameplay) Warren chasing Brett and putting a big hit on him, but wait brett already throws the ball to sterling for a td. Brett gets up taps warren on the helmet and the two start trash talking. (Actual interview) The two say "a true rivalry never ends" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The purpose of this thread is NOT to advocate Brett Farve's greatness, but to save the 2k football series. I know there are rumors and speculations that there will not be a 2k9 due to lack of marketing and sales in 2k8. If this is the case, many of us will be left to play the the electronic vibrating football machine game from the 70's.....LOL

Umm the last game got Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, and Joe Montana in thegame and on the cover. Those are NFL Immortals. If they couldnt sell a game Brett Favre wont help. 2k will never outsell Madden. We are going to be fed the same **** forever. Over the last 3 months ive been on 2k8 a few times. Theres like 50 people on at a time. For a game that was supposed to be a great online game this is awful. Considering that Madden the game that no one likes has over 6000 every time i sign in. Its sad but its true and theres nothing us few hundred 2k fans can do to the million man army of EA that we are trying to sway.

sanders and elway retired too long ago to be of importance to the typical maddenite, and jerry rice, while still a great player, was not a superstar during the 2000s. so again, the maddenites wouldnt care.

but BRETT FAVRE, hes something that could hook

first fo all, even if Brett is Retired, and the packers owes him some money, he will still be with in the NFPA, wich that means he cant get anything out side of it, so there for, you cant.

and if there is no APF 2k9, you cant out sell anything.

ok so 1 player that the "maddenites" want will be on 2k while every other nfl player will be on madden........for the next 5 years. Brett Favre will not sell a game. Hes not THAT popular. I wouldnt exactly say Brett Favre has done anything spectacular since 2000 either.

Brett Favre turned the youngest team in the NFL to the a championship team. Hes done nothing special there. And he has the most TDs in NFL history. Once again nothing special. He also gots damn near the throwing records, which thats nothing special. He can make a horrible play into a good one, I dont believe anythings special there either. Yep Farve has done nothing special since 2000.

And he has the most TDs in NFL history.Yes, it goes nicely with the most INTs in NFL history record. :)

The only way 2k can outsell Madden, is to sell the game for 4.99$.

Yes, it does go nicely with most Tds. But Brett Farve was a risk taker and thats why he has most INTs in NFL history.

Have more game modes. The gameplay is already there. Most people aren't into games because it plays more realistic than the other, it's because it has 5,000 game modes to play. It's hard to do because of the license, but you're not gonna outsell Madden with play now, 1 year season mode and practice mode, and even if they do all that, they still won't outsell Madden.

brett would help but im not sure if it would outsell madden. He's a recent retiree so that alone would still be fresh on consumers minds when they see him on the cover of the game with the "2k" stamp @ the bottom. I think they should go for it if it's possible....hell....even if it's coming out....

the point was that hes not going to sell a video game. I know how good Favre is and he is one of my favorite players of all time. But hes not going to help sell a game that already has the best wide recievers and running backs of all time and Quarterbacks who are better than him. Brett Favre isnt very marketable.

Hes the toughest QB to ever play. He played with the most heart, and he broke damn near every record. The 5 best Qbs by list thats very similiar to the analist on espn
1. Joe Montana
2.Dan Marino
3.Brett Favre
4.Terry Bradshaw
5. Steve Young

I agree that Favre is the toughest QB to play the game, but he wouldn't make my top 5 QB list. He was too inconsistent.

I agree.

People tend to forget that Favre was on a steady decline ever since his Super Bowl title season. Favre blew a lot of big games with his dumb decisions including the last pass of his career. And while people have made attempts to prove that his latest team is better than all of the other teams he's had since, it's just not true when you compare rosters. The Packers got better overall because Favre played better than he had in a long, long time. He had a rebirth. Maybe it was because of Mike McCarthy? Who knows, but this team was no better than a lot of teams he'd been on in the past.

... regardless, there is nothing 2K can do to outsell Madden. It's just not gonna happen.

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning will both have better careers when all is said and done. Brady already has. Just remember thats your list. Most people would probably not put Favre in the top 5.

Hold on.......heres a tohught. MAYBE the only reaosn Madden has outsold everyone is because they have had Brett Favre on all of thier games! Oh boy 2k better go sign him lol. Joking of course. 2k was on the right path to outsell EA. Unfortunately EA got the license now there is no chance of that happening.

I wouldn't put Terry Bradshaw on a top 50 QB list. Having the best OL ever and a great HB/WRs/TEs/entire defense doesn't make you a great QB... he was the weak point of that team.

Bradshaw wasn't as bad as your saying but he definetly isn't in the top 10 maybe number 17 or something he played like crap alot just a couple clutch plays and and 4 superbowls thats why he's in the Hall of Fame

It's like I've always believed; if 2K6 had saw the light of day, it was lights out for Madden's reign on XBOX/PS2. 2K5 had outsold Madden on XBOX that year, and cut deeply into Madden's PS2 share. Madden was in serious trouble.

And that also why I feel that the following huge bid and license with the NFL was no coincidence. I realize other companies were bidding but that's because the NFL said they were looking for an exclusive. Who would've been dumb enough NOT to try and bid? Still, I believe that the NFL and EA had something in the works all along and the public announcement of the desire for an exclusive was simply a front to make it appear as if this thing was going to be fair.

If Bradshaw had been on any other team, especially early in his career, he would've been out of the league quick. People forget that this man got benched a few times for poor performances and the guys behind him were nothing special to get benched for.

Yeah, even Joe Montana got benched once--in a playoff game of all places--but he came back the next year and drove his team to a title (SB 23), and he was a reason for the title, not the "in spite of" like Bradshaw was in many situations. Often times, Bradshaw was a liability and if it weren't for that defense they would've been finished.

I agree. Im not a fan of Madden 08 or APF 2k8 so basically now im stuck without a football game. Thats ok though im a huge sports fan and there are 2 good NBA games out right now I play and 2 good NHL games. Ill be ok until whenever someone wants to make a good football game again.

You could argue that Manning has had a better career also. He's a 2 time MVP, he's got a SB ring, and he set a record for TDs in a season(which was broken 3 years later), with less interceptions.

APF 2k9 needs to focus on having a successful game, not out-selling Madden 09( that's just not happening). Madden has the license, and the marketing; if 2k9 is successful, 2k10 and 2k11( 2k10 might be pushing it)might have a shot at out-selling madden.

How has Brady had a better carrer then Favre? Ya Brady has 3 superbowl rings but does he have 2 NFL MVPs? Does he have the numbers as Favre? I dont think Brady is ever get the Yards and Td records Favre has. Randy Moss only has like 2-4 years left in him and I dont think Welker will be that much of a threat when hes by himself. Kevin Faulk getting old and Marony hasnt had a 1000 yard season yet. But there O-line is improving but it wont be long before there gonna have to look for younger Linemen. Its hard to improve with an aging team.

ok so if were going by mvps and yards then Favre is the best qb ever? thanks for settling this argument
