View Full Version : Minor League Stat Bug ( In-Depth )

Saw a previous post that got lost and I've heard nothing in regards to
this and the patch. As a sim/stat junkie I think its important. In the
minor leagues, stat tracking is impossible/non existent. These are
some of the main ommissions, with all of them showing up N/A.
( This is in SEASON stat tracking )
Position players:
OBP
Total bases
Caught stealing
Walks
Runs scored
Strikeouts
ALL fielding stats

For pitchers the stats untracked include:
Games pitched
Games started
Batting average against
Blown saves
Holds
Hits given up
Complete games
Runs allowed
WHIP

The sort feature only works as it pertains to the MLB level as well
which may have something to do with it.

Also when you choose to simulate a minor league game. The stats shown
in the box scores which are intended to be cumulative for the season
all show up as 0.
For example:
Hr: Bruce, 2. (0)

Would be a game where bruce had 2 homeruns but in the box score shows
up as zero for the season. Same situation with every secondary ( non
batting average stat )
For batting average. The cumulative display only shows up for todays
play so for instance if bruce went 3 for 4 his season average would
display as .750 as far into the 100th game of the season.

Just a small bug but fixing it would go a long way into makin this the
minor league/major league sim I've dreamed of.

And thank you Ronnie for working with us. I do love this game and I know the patch will only make it better.

I have been working on simulating this, sorry I didn't make you aware. Give me a little time. I did not miss your message.

Thanks Ronnie

I think this one is a big issue, as it doesnt have as big of a voice, but anyone playing a franchise offline ( Most of the people that buy this game) will be noticing this, they just tend to not come to the boards as much as all the online gamers.

this would be huge!

Hey, ok so I dug into this. It seems that the two screens that are having issues are the initial post game recap and the 1 (0) screen you were talking about. The stats are still available for every minor league player and computed accurately (in team stats, player stats, mvp etc.) but for these couple screens, they are trying to access the minor league players major league stats (most of whom won't have any). This is definitely an issue and one that I have showed to some of the developers. They are looking into seeing whether this could be fixed by patch.

also another thing with minor league stats if you try and sort them from the stats window inside your franchise it just goes random and doesnt go by the stats.

IE for batting average it went something like this

Jay Bruce 278
Patterson 321
bako 124
hairston 421

ii clicked and tried to sort them again and it just went to some other random players with other random order of stats as well. Only does this for the minors on both batters and pitchers but seems to work for the majors just fine.

Ronnie i dont know if you can look ito this or what but yeah

Chello i have seen that. Minor League Stats have been very glitchy.

I cuncur, sorting minor league stats is hosed. Also, try sorting k/9 in major league stats in league leaders, also hosed.

Another pet peave. The depth chart is absolutely useless. Whatever happened to positional ranking. It sure would be nice to have again, managing injuries would be so much easier...

It seemed like more than 2 places where they were missing to me. I know they're missing when you look at the player stats in the pitching rotation screen, the in game manager mode, in-game when they're batting...there are quite a few places the statistics are not being accuratley tracked.

If you could write a specific list here, that would help. I have only seen them there. But it is probably a matter of fixing the code to access the level that the player is at.

When browising the line-up screens for the minor league teams, the minor league stats don't appear......

Mimglow
March 27th, 2008, 06:39 AM
Also, you can't check league leaders for the minors because the stats all show zero.

I know this isn't constructive criticism, but I'm frustrated and need to vent so here goes: Video game baseball, more than any other sport, should never ever ever be launched with such obvious stats glitches. Stats make baseball. Period.

Thanks Ronnie for looking into this, you should never have been put in this situation in the first place.

Acez, noted.

Mimglow, I don't have that problem, I can see league leaders for the minors. Anyone else got this problem?

I have this problem. What team are you using Ronnie? I will test and see if it works. Maybe be team dependant. So Ronnie, your saying that you can look @ and sort league leaders for Minor leagues?

2K Admin Ron
March 27th, 2008, 02:01 PM
I doubt it's team dependent only because we have seen that the code is generally accessing major league stats. We are probably just talking about different screens. If it was team dependent, it'd be harder to fix so this is a good thing.

Any update ronnie???? Any questions ill answer. Just simulate a season focusing on minor leaguers and use the season stats from the pull down menu. You'll see what we're talking about

Ronnie,

Just wanted to add on to what other people are telling you in here. Not only are the season stat tracking incorrect in the box scores at the end of the game, but in-game stats are not presented correctly. Perhaps this is a known issue, but when I play games with any of my minor league teams, batting average, RBIs, SBs, W-L, SO, etc are all presented as "0" (or .000 for percentage unit stats). As the game progresses, these stats are updated for in game progress (e.g. if you go 1-3 and come up to bat in the 9th, your batting avg will show as .333) but are not carried forward to the next played game.

You are correct in noting that the MLB stats are not updated b/c the minor league stats don't carry over, and this is correctly reflected in players' cards. However, what IS interesting is that the minor league stats shown on the gamer card appear to be correct.

My guess would be that the in-game stats, box scores, and so forth are referencing a player's MLB stats and not his minor league stats. Just a guess.

Hope this helps, and I am looking forward to playing more post-patch. Enjoying the game thus far.

I hate that when you go to change your lineup you have to ****in press down the right stick to see the stats. Needs to be more like MVP 05

The stats at the lineup/pitching rotation screen is attempting to display the major league stats, even if the player is currently in the minor leagues. As a result, the majority of players in the minors will display a .000 batting average, and .000 ERA (unless the spent games in the MLB level, where their last stats while in the MLB will be displayed). However, the stats for minor league players are being tracked correctly, because the stats on the player card stays updated throughout the season.

I'm assuming thats also the reason the stats start at .000 avg/era when playing a minor league game in franchise.

In short: Minor league games, lineup screens, and pitching rotation screens displays minor league players' MLB stats, not their minor league ones, resulting in blank data for the majority of players. Their stats, however, are tracked correctly, they are just not displayed properly.

Fixing this should be a simple fix at least; if the player is in the minors, dispaly the minor league stats instead of the MLB ones.

With the patch, if you open up the player card the stats will appear FYI

That's fine...but when opposing batters (and mine) walk up it still shows zeros. I'm really most concerned with the in game stats. It's not like the minors are household names and I would know what I am dealing with.

Further...the fact I can open cards isn't an excuse not to fix something that obviously didn't mange to get tested...or if it was tested they just said "meh....close enough".

For $60 they should display correctly everywhere I think. But yes they do and thanks.

Thanks 2k for all your "quick and timely responses."
How do you use minor leagues and to determine who to bring up/send down with no stats??? LAME.
Bought a ps3 and now play "not 2ksports baseball games"
