View Full Version : Do custom sliders affect your ability to get wildcards?

Or cards in general? I've notice since switching from Pro to Custom-A, I've seemed to be getting less wildcards despite playing similarly well. For example, one game I turned a triple play, robbed two home runs, and hit a walk off homer, among other things, and got no wildcards.

you cannot get them with custom sliders.

Damn, that sucks, especially considering how bad the original sliders are

I take a break from my franchise and play a few exhibition to get some other cards, the higher the level the better your chances, I play mostly against the T.B Rays to get the wildcards, they are easy to beat, got 6 in one game once.

Yeah, that would probably work. Just annoying when I have to play with the regular sliders, meaning they won't steal and the only way to get the Brian Schneider card if I want the chance to get wildcards as well (throw out a runner attempting to steal) is to make them miss on a suicide squeeze or get them at the plate after a wild pitch.

This whole situation with not being able to get wild cards with custom sliders is just stupid. Its a huge oversite from 2k considering that the game clearly plays better with the sliders tweaked. Why should we be punished for wanting to play a sim game with whats suppose to be a sim title. Please 2k , fix this, people want you to, that is clear. All you have to do is make it so only people playing with sliders Custom-P and above can earn wild cards (much like the achievments work on the 360)

Agreed. If you can get regular cards and achievements with custom sliders, you should be able to get wild cards as well.

Cubsfan, I thought I had said this several times before but maybe you missed it. You most certainly CAN get wildcards with custom sliders, it's just nowhere near as likely.

This is something that should be changed in the future. While I understand the rationale, we either need better standard sliders or it should be the same chance.

Any idea what "nowhere near as likely means?" I've been playing with custom sliders since day 1 - I've played about 35 games, with probably 1/2 at pro, 1/2 at all-star. Grand total of 0 wild cards. I care more about good game play than wild cards so I'll stick with my custom sliders, though it seems silly that I would have to choose one or the other.

The chance for wild cards with custom sliders should be roughly equal to the same unchanged difficulty level. So Custom-P should be about the same as regular Pro level, imo.

I get way more wild cards playing on rookie level than on Pro (no slider changes). I'm not sure what causes this but I bet there's a bug someplace. I have no proof, just a hunch.

Well why is it "nowhere near as likely". I believe it should be the same, maybe the next patch should fix this. Its not a huge deal. Its just those who really like the cards, such as I, would really like this to take place.

I'm of the opinion that if you are going to include the unlockables as cards (which I personally love by the way) then you should be given the maximum opportunity to earn wildcards. Custom-P sliders should allow the same amount as Pro sliders. You'd see a lot more trading going on if that were the case because more people would have cards to actually trade.
