The search for a Men's Basketball Head Coach is over. Jared Moore, 28, will be introduced at a noon press conference today. Texas State finished 3-26 last season, a season that led to the firing of the previous coach. The finalists for the job were Moore and current Sul Ross State coach Doug Davalos. Many of you may not have heard of Moore. Jared Michael Moore was born in Houston, Texas and has been around basketball since he was a boy. He played for Aldine High School and then walked on to the basketball program at the University of Houston. His career was spent mostly on the bench, but he saw significant action during his senior year when the Cougars were the NIT champions. Upon graduating with a degree in business management, Moore went on to work for the Houston Rockets as a business assistant. As a side job, he was an assistant with a local high school, Spring Woods. A year later, when he was 23, he was fired from the Rockets but took over as the Spring Woods head coach. Upon leading them to the state quarterfinals, Moore was offered an assistant position at Sam Houston State University. After two years there, including a stint of three games as a head coach (3-0), Moore left to become Tom Penders' head assistant at the Universtiy of Houston at age 25. After spending three years there, he applied for the coaching job at Texas State and here he is.

Only time will tell if Coach Moore can turn this program around.

MEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON RECAP:

It looks like Coach Jared Moore will need some more time to turn this program around. Yes, the Bobcats more than tripled there win total with a 11-20 record and even won their first Southland Conference Tournament game, but 11 wins isn't exactly considered a good year. The Bobcats were lead in scoring by SG #5, who averaged 25 points, 8 assists and 5rebounds in 32 minutes a game. He was named Southland Conference Player of the Year. Coach Moore has gotten on the recruiting trail and is hot after some players. We will see if Coach Moore can increase our wins next season.

Coach Jared Moore is gone.

The Texas State Bobcats men's basketball team won 17 games in the regular season this year and won the Southland Conference Tournament. A 15 seed in the NCAA tournament, they were blown out by #2 Texas A&M. The season could be called an incredible success, especially considering the Bobcats only won 3 games before Coach Moore's hiring.

But that's the problem. Coach Moore said just last month that he planned on staying at Texas State unless he got an offer he couldn't refuse. Things may have changed, as Coach Moore has left us and taken the head coaching job at Morgan State University.

Morgan State University? Yes. You may be questioning why Coach Moore would leave Texas State for an even worse team, one that plays in the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference. Coach Moore says he felt that he had done enough for the Bobcats and wanted another challenge. But we at the Bobcat Press have the true story - the inside scoop. It turns out that new Athletic Director Mike Jenkins and Coach Moore have a history - a bad one. Jenkins and Moore both went to Aldine High school, but Jenkins was a senior when Moore was a freshman. Our sources say that Jenkins was the school bully - and Moore was his favorite target.

Yes, it may seem silly that Coach Moore would leave just because the new Athletic Director was a schoolyard bully, but it turns out thats not the only bad blood between the two. Jenkins played basketball at Rice, and during the matchup in his senior year (Moore was a freshman), Moore played his first minutes. Jenkins ended up getting ejected after elbowing Moore in the face and breaking his nose. Another part of the story is that Jenkins at one point dated Moore's older sister and was even arrested for being violent with her (he was later acquitted on lack of evidence).

I don't know why the School President would make a mistake like hiring AD Jenkins, but we at Texas State have lost a good Coach. Good luck, Coach Moore.

Coach Jared Moore finished his first year here as Morgan State's Men's Basketball Coach, and it can definitely be called a success. The Bears went 18-11 in the regular season and then advanced to the MEAC tournament finals, where they lost a heartbreaker to Coppin State, 72-71. This was a major improvement on the 7-22 team that Coach Moore inherited. The Bears advanced to the semifinals of the NIT before losing to Moore's alma mater, the Houston Cougars.

Moore has already pulled off another upset, signing Thomas Bendtscheider, a 7'2 center who is a four star recruit from Germany.

Here's to the great season, and hopefully many more!

The cheers could be heard all over campus as the Morgan State Bears pulled off their historic run. The Bears cruised through the regular season, 22-7, and the conference tournament en route to a 12 seed in the NCAA tournament. A couple of upsets later, inclduing a 74-73 win over defending champion North Carolina that required a buzzer beating trey, and the Bears found themselves in the Final Four. Unfortunately, thats as far as they got as they lost 83-62 to eventual champion UCLA.

Of course, success comes at a price. Coach Jared Moore has left the Bears to take the Head Coaching job at Indiana State University. Good luck, Coach, and thanks for the season. No word on a new coach is available.

Yeah I used to sim the reg season too but once I got into the habit of playing all of the games it got more fun. Especially when you get to a better team. I still sim against a horrible team every once in a while though.

By the way, what's your coaches overall rating now?
