So I know there are bigger fish to fry in this game, but has anyone else noticed the "records" broken at the end of a franchise season are a joke? For example, after year one Joba Chamberlain supposedly broke the ERA record with a .37 ERA. The only problem with that is if you take a look at his stats he had a 4-something ERA. A-Rod supposedly had over 200 RBIs. The following year some no name rookie that I couldn't even find on a roster broke the batting avg record with, get this, a 1.948 BA. Yeah thats right he had nearly 2 hits per at bat. If you can't even get the little things right why waste our time with a card game? I for one would have rather had the guys working on the card game be working on something a little more important...like making a good baseball game.

Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that I've now thrown out 4 batters at first base from right field with Jeff Francouer. Love the realism.

Luke Luke Luke......

He is just reporting something he realized when he finished his season.

If he played through a hole season, I think he still likes the game, just like I do.

So please stop denying that the game really has its flaws (like a majority of games, specially sports game), or doing like LALtoDB answering to only one part of the post disregarding the part that really shows a problem about stat tracking that even Baseball Stars did right on the NES 20 years ago, just try to accept it and don't bash the messenger, the worst thing that could happen is that THEY MIGHT ACTUALLY FIX IT!

Cheers,

Js

I'm not denying flaws. I'm truly sorry the experience brought sadness and pain rather than joy...this isn't what a video game is supposed to do. Currently it is bring joy to my life but once it stops I will no longer play it. Whether that be tomorrow or three years from now. Crying about flaws in a game that won't be fixed (at least this year) seems pretty moot and tells me that you simply don't like the game.

To respond, I do enjoy the game a lot actually. It would just be nice to have a finished game thats all. It feels like they shipped the beta version. As for the issues I discussed, it shouldn't matter what level I am playing on, you should never be able to throw out someone from RF on a single. And the records are not a one time thing as I have played/simmed through multiple seasons and its happened after every one.

your talking about doing it with jeff franceur, he has one of the best arms in the majors, so yes you should be able to if the runner isnt that fast, and you have franceur in right

No I like it, a lot my friend, and I can't wait to be back home to continue my franchise to be sincere, but there is nothing wrong with making a constructive post about a flaw that even if I also know that it won't be fixed this year, have great chances to be in next year's and we will all be more than happy about it. It's our only sim-baseball videogame experience possible on 360, and we have a proof this year that people actually read the posts, so I think it all gives us a better chance to have an even better experience with 2k9 if when we see a problem with the game that need to be fixed to post it, so at least 2k knows about it and work on it for next year. Don't get me wrong, my last idea was to bash the game or any of you personnaly, just defending my point that there is nothing wrong posting a bug when we know it is being read by 2k, as long as it is constructive and not simply wth the idea of bashing the game!

My apologies for the way too long post lol!

I've never seen the computer attempt to throw someone out at first from the outfield so I'm assuming you are doing this and not the computer?

If that's the case...how about just not doing it?

Is that really the best you can do Luke? Lets not have 2k fix the game lets just not do the things that are broke. You hit too many homeruns last year? Well just stop swinging. Its people like you that refuse to question the producers of these games that make them think its ok to produce mediocre games.

people hit hrs in real life! teams dont throw to first base from the outfield in real life, so thats all you can du akellar? stupid, you dont see players throw to 1b from the outfield, you see hrs irl, when youre going to pick an anology at least have it make sense... and it took you 28 minues for the comeback lol youre slow

i would love playing a pitcher with a -12.67 ERA, maybe they will just start putting a handicap at the beginning of the game depending on how bad you are- lolz

Well I have played this game since the release and all I can say is WOW, why didn't I buy a PS3 when I had a chance. Besides the stat flaws their are even more annoying ones. The fact that a hard hit line drive to shallow right field hit by David Ortiz cannot result in an out by gunning it in to first bogles my mind, line drives off a pitchers head doesn't improve their game I'm pretty sure they go to the hospital not pitch till the 9th, when the second baseman catches the ball for the double play and then run home come talk to me 2K, and also come talk to me when Tim Wakefield who hasn't throw a pitch over 83 mph throws a 90 mph fastball. This game is just all flaws.

Well this won't be fixed. If you can't just not throw it to first every time in an attempt to throw the runner out to preserve the realism then I see that as you being unwilling to compromise. Changing the sliders might be an option as well.

I'm supposed to question the producers of these games over stuff I don't find worthy of complaining about? Are you serious?

You cry and cry and cry and cry and cry and cry and cry because the game isn't up to your specifications. I can't help that...I'm happy with what I have right now. Don't you sit there and tell me what I'm supposed to complain about.

If it comes to the point of me not liking the game I will simply stop playing it rather than being a little crybaby and making post after post after post about what I think is wrong with the game.

I'm not the one encouraging these people to put out crappy games....you are the freakin' idiot that is by buying a game you don't like.

Actually, people have been thrown out from right field, its called a put out, I have seen a few in my day. People don't frequently throw to 1st because it is BAD BASEBALL. You never throw behind the runner (BAD BASEBALL), because if you had a person with speed they may just take second. Oh so what I am trying to say is if you don't want to throw out somone going to 1st, stop playing BAD BASEBALL.

I have seen Raul Mondesi throw out Larry Walker at 1st base and Vlad threw someone out at first a few years ago I remember. So its been done plenty of times, as far as that stat glitch that sux and I sure hope it doesnt happen to me, I havent noticed anyone make that complaint, Ive read about the minor league stat glitch tho

1.948 AVG that is not possible.

weird I had same thing happen to me. Exact same players and exact same stats.

It was Joba Chamberlin with a .37 era (thats how it even looks in game) And the minor leaguer you were talking about was some Camp dude and i got the exact same average number.

Obviously a glitch that more people will have as well.

I was on a 20 game season. and alot of things were going wrong. I have re-started a 162 game one in an attempt to see if this helps.

2K8 is wack, plain and simple, those trying to defend it, need to get over themselves, 2k doesn't pay you, stop the fan club stuff. There is a reason why there are so many threads about how the game is OFF, hmm, maybe it is because the GAME IS OFF!!!!

Ok so I found one more thing to add to my post. I am on year 2 of my franchise. I have now played against a team that had BJ Upton catching and another that had Jim Thome catching. Isn't there something in the game that stop the CPU from putting players in positions that they don't actually play? Especially a specialized position like catcher.
