I want to know how to make your base runners run fast after you hit the ball and running the bases.

You don't. It's more realistic than in year's past, so there is no turbo boost for the base runners.
Although, you can adjust the difficulty settings to make their overall speed faster. Or adjust individual player abilities in a Franchise.

What? Tapping the button corresponding to the base you're trying to steal doesn't help to increase the speed of the runner? It sure seems like it does to me.

No, it doesn't.

Sorry, but when I run, I can't tap a button to go faster, so I don't expect it in a game either.

That's dumb...can you walk briskly, jog, and run? If so, there should be buttons or a motion to express that in the game. I'm tired of people standing in the box for 4 secs watching a fly ball, only to have it drop for a single when it could've been a double. Also, on ground balls, sometimes guys just stand around instead of running because they know they're out. I want to determine who runs and who watches! Coaches bench players for that! For some reason, if you hold "A" when running to first the runner appears to go faster. I'm not sure whether the whole play speeds up (including the fielder) or just the runner, but it does have an effect...

Why does it turn orange when you tap the button and seem to go faster? Wouldn't the color change to orange imply a change in speed? That is what confussed me.

They had this feature in 2k7, and I must say it was better for me, although I didn't discover it right away. Definitely made a difference between a few hits.

You ever watch a real baseball game? Players almost never sprint to first on a high fly ball.....

Especially if their name is Manny and they play for the BoSox. That lazy #$%^&. For him that could apply to doubles as well. He thinks that anything he hits in the air is a Homer and just stands there admiring his accomplishment. Nothing that a good old #1 to the head wouldn't fix.

Not in this year thankfully.

Orange is the color when you get into the "action zone" of second base.
It's supposed to be yellow. For example - if you notice is you slide into first it changes to red.
Orange/Yellow - 2nd, 3rd - Blue - Home is green.
This color corresponds with the color buttons on the controller. Not exactly sure when this is triggered but that's what the colors are for

Junior is horrible with this too...tons of balls off the wall where he ends up with a single. To some extent I can maybe undertand he doesn't want to pull a hammy by sprinting out of the box, but even a light jog would get him to 2nd in those instances. I'm not a Reds fan but have watched many Reds games with my wife's grandfather who is die hard (witnessed the first of Johnny Vander Meer's back-to-back no hitters from knothole at Crosley Field), to some extent I like the fact that Junior doesn't bust it out of the box as I like to hear the old man get ****ed off and gon on a rant.

The color change show that you've applied a slide of some sort to that player. If you just run in standing up no color will be shown.

Just like in last years game, MLB2K7 & 2K8 are based on the player speed attributes.
