Well I guess I have a place to complain about this game finally.....

The game is pretty good though but I just played HR derby in my franchise mode with my created player(94 rating, B+ contact and A- power) and in round one I proceeded to hit 56HR.....what happened to the stamina thing?

I played home run derby in franchize with vladimir guerrero and i hit 30 something homeruns in the first round with 0 outs so then i tried getting bad swings off so i would get more outs and i pulled back really early to swing and he still hit homeruns so then i just kept striking out so the round would end lol!

lol wow 30 with 0 outs is pretty good......although this kinda sucks because I liked HR derby last yr.....

Also it's worth noting that if 2K could add something to let us skip over the other 7 CPU batters......would be very nice :)

I've tried the HR derby and hit a ton of them, as well, and didn't even notice that stamina not being there. I wonder why they took that out. Maybe it was to make that feature more arcade like. Who knows?

There have been quite a few odd things done to this year's game that seem unnecessary. No stamina for HR derby, smaller font, no numbers for sliders. It's odd.

Well I am not a programmer or anything.....maybe it was just easier or more cost efficient for them to leave those things out or something......I know they arent dumb so they wouldnt do it for no reason......

The stadiums are amazing so maybe there wasnt enough room to create....lol IDK

Same thing with me ... I hit around 30-40 in the first round with Aramis Rameriz...Eventually I got tired and just intentionally swung too early and missed the ball...It seemed no matter what, if I made contact, it was a homerun...No more homerun derby for me.

looks like we have a common theme here.....

I have never played the Bigs....but I wonder if they have incorporated some of that style into this game? B/C Hitting 56HR to me is more of an arcade game....not a SIM.

Well, since most sports games carry over a lot of code from the previous year, they would have had to physically take out those things or change them. It would have been more cost efficient to just not touch them. ;)

Being a programmer, I can tell you that font size is most likely one line defining it. Numbers on sliders is probably one or two lines, and a simple calculation, which is used internally, to get the number.

The stamina thing can be a little trickier, but since it was already done, they didn't really need to take it out, unless they wanted a more arcade feel to the HR derby.

What difficulty are you playing this at?

All-Star no sliders

Maybe we should give it a whirl in Legendary. If you don't mind, give that a shot and let me know. Thanks.

K. Once I get my A-Rod card I'll start up a new chise.

BTW Longoria was a 100 at that time.

There honestly doesn't seem to be a difference in the difficulty levels. Whether I play on rookie or Legend, it's hard to make an out. I try to swing late and use a pull swing or swing early and use the opposite field swing and it doesn't matter..I hit the ball over the fence. Like the OP said, I feel like there is no challenge at all to this method and it feels like I can hit HR's forever.

What decides whether it is a HR or a grounder or a pop up anyway? With a timing only system, I don't see what real control the user has over this? In an actual game at least you have different pitch types and locations, but here everything is pretty much down the middle. The way I see it, this mode involves pretty much no skill. It's timing only and even that portion seems to be so handicapped that you try to get out and still hit HR's.

It's not a huge deal because it's just HR derby, but this kind of shines a light on how weak a timing only hitting system is.

Yeah if what you said it true Trevy, you are correct. I will see if they can make this harder or some difficulty on timing.

This was a couple of weeks ago. I just saw this thread and totally forgot I took this picture. Miguel Cabrera is just a beast on HR Derby. I tend to do better with right handers, but he is just insane. This was on the 2 player battle mode, my brother just sat there watching and told me not to hold back.
