I will start off with some really good, albeit small upgrades
1) I absolutely love the fact that my catcher throws his fingers down to signal my pitch....as a pitcher myself....that really makes me feel "In the game".
2) Stadiums are fantastic.......full of fans...each level has depth....stadiums need to be like this in every sports game.
3) I like the throwing mechanism.....gets you more involved
4) The Minor Leagues...I play franchise mode in all sports games 95% of the time....and this has really added some depth(still needs improvement though).
5) ok thats enough for me...you guys post some things that you like

Mr. T's postively certain he regrets buying this game. Hows that?

The part of the game for me is the large amount of user control you have. Baseball games have typically been completely reliant on CPU calculations. Like, when you throw to first and make an error, it was a random event. However, with the new fielding controls and pitching controls, you actually know why and how the events pan out. When you make a bad pitch and it gets crushed, you feel as if it is your fault. If you make a bad throw attempting to get a runner out, you know why it was errant. The game has a skill factor generally missing in baseball games, and when you learn the new controls, you realize that the changes are for more than "cosmetic".

thats a really good point tercel......
In game 6 of my world series I just finished playing against the yanks....I had Dan Haren as my starter and in the 4th inning I gave up a base hit....then for some reason I decided to elt up on the next pitch against melky.....and he damn sure didnt let up on me.....
I really felt like damn....that was my fault.....That is a very scarce feeling in any video game..especially in baseball games
and LOL @ Mr T. that was pretty damn funny

For all of the good things you just said, I have to say though that I still experience the "WTF HR" from time to time.

Well, it can be argued that many pitchers get that feeling in the real world as well. ;)

Really? I was taking for granted what people were saying about 2K7 compared to 2K8 and then over the weekend I threw in 2K7 just for comparative purposes...I think 2K7 blows 2K8 away...I think 2K8 is adequate, but I would say "fantastic" or "full of fans".

 I would agree with that, but it still seems like I've been cruising along too many times when next thing you know my starter, reliever or closer starts getting whiplash as the other team hits a couple of lasers and then drops the big bomb.

I agree with the fielding and pitching controls. Last night, I had a throwing error cause by me letting the throwing meter fill all the way up. My short stop zinged the ball into the dirt and it skipped past my first baseman. I knew right away that I goofed, and was hoping the first baseman could dig it out, but alas, he couldn't.
I also like nailing a pitch and getting a strike out, and a grounder for a double play. There's a good bit of involvement, but I feel that the reward is that much greater because of it.
I also think the catch does a better job of calling the game. There were many times last year where I didn't like the pitch he was calling for so I would throw my own. This year, it seems to be better, IMO.
And while I like the stadiums as well, I wish they were fuller. The fans are separated from each other too much.

Wow , I just put 2k7 in.....I have a 720p panasonic 32" LCD( maybe our tv's make a difference??)....but the stadiums are much much better in 2k8 oposed to 2k7....Although it was a good point to mention, they could be fuller......or make the fans smaller in size so you can fit 50,000 of them in yankee stadium.....
And something I forgot....I absolutely love it when I K someone and the catcher pops up and throws down to 1st or 3rd....thats great.

2) Stadiums are fantastic.......full of fans...each level has depth....stadiums need to be like this in every sports game.
Although most stadiums do look amazing, the developers missed some pretty basic details in a few of the stadiums that I've noticed (especially in Cleveland where I go to see the Tribe play at least 25 times each year):
Problems with Cleveland's stadium:
1. It is no longer Jacobs Field, it is now Progressive Field. This name change happened wayyyyy before the game was even released, why did the developers neglect to make the proper name change?
2. The lights are way too wide, they should only be about 2/3 the size that they are in the game.
3. The area beyond center field is no longer lined with trees (that changed 3 years ago). There is now a bar (The Batter's Eye) and picnic area in straightaway center field.
4. The Toyota Home Run Porch in left field is non-existent in the game. There should be a truck parked there...a staple at the park that should not have been left out.
5. The scoreboards built into the left field wall are all now video boards with pictures of the diamond along with the scoreline of the games (similar to gamecast on MLB.com or ESPN.com.
I think that for next year's game they need to have a different design manager for each individual division in the Majors so that each stadium has perfect detailing to it. The design manager should attend at least 10 games at each stadium to take notes on general stadium atmosphere as well as landmarks that set each stadium apart from one another. I think it would add a lot to the game and make it more realistic.

lol i wish they would do that, but i doubt seriously these guys have ever taken the time to even go to 1 baseball game....let along ten games!!!!
It would help out so much though if they would jsut do that.

Sorry for all the positives there are double the negatives. I also threw in 2k7 just to compare and 2k7 is MUCH better. No lag , graphics are excellent and the gameplay is much more fluid. I'm going back to 2k7.

I like the teleporting pitchers covering first.
I love the "Hammer-Time" catcher dance on pop-ups behind the plate.
I like the stadiums, even though Cincinnati's GABP wasn't updated to include the Riverboat above the Batter's Eye.
I like the fact that the minors are here this year.

I love how far the disc goes when I use it as a frisbee. It's also a pretty good coaster.

You spent $60 for a frisbee/coaster? Sounds pretty foolish there.
-I like the new pitching and fielding.
-I like being able to break up a double play, though it does seem to happen a bit too frequently.
-I like that there are fewer HRs and fewer robbed HRs.
-I like that time progresses a little quicker so that evening games now actually get dark after a few innings. Last year, time progressed to slowly and if you skipped cut scenes and other parts, you could be in the 9th inning of an evening game and the sun would still be shining.

The best feature in this game???? The whopping 14 frames per second. It makes me warm inside.

i think honestly this is a very fun game to play but the fact that in a thread that is asking for positives, 75% of the posts are negative is indicitive of the major problems with this game.
freezing and frame rate issues are inexcusable.

I think that one of the best things about this game, is that you can actually see the ball in a day game when it is hit. I loved 2k7, but it was way too hard to see the ball in a day game last year. I think the stadiums look much better this year. Busch Stadium looks awesome.

I love the way the game forces you to concentrate on every pitch/throw you make. Let up for one play and the ball goes over the wall or the throw from second skips past the first baseman. I find the game addictive-- can't stop playing.

OMG I forgot PLAYER EDITING!!!!!!
This is essential b/c I remember in 2k7 after 5+ yrs in franchise....felix hernandez....k-rod...Jenks...peavy...All these flame throwers would somehow end up throwing the ball 80MPH!!!! So dumb...But now I can fix all that :)
Thank you so much for adding this feature 2K
